VNS-L31C432B130 Firmware Android 7 - Huawei P9 Lite Questions & Answers

Hi,
I have a rooted P9 Lite(2016) with Dual SIM and want to Update to Android 7.
But I can't update OTA because it's a rooted device.
My model: VNS-L31C432B130
I think i have 2 options: First is to unroot and update it OTA and than again root, because it's very important to root for me.
Second option is to download and install it manually.
But i don't know which firmware i have to choose. Only thing i know is that my device is VNS-L31 version.
There is so many firmware on the internet. Can i choose all firmware that begins with VNS-L31 or is there something to consider?
For example this version: VNS-L31C636B361
Which way is easier and which firmware should i choose?
thanks

The right firmware for your phone is L-31C432B370
L-31 is the phone model, if you flash firmwares with wrong phone model your phone will certainly soft brick or brick.
C432 is the region, for example c636 is Oriental/Chinese region, c185 is American or other (I don't remember), c432 is European. If you flash firmwares with wrong region, the phone will probably go into c900, the global region, And it would be difficult to restore to the factory firmware.
B*** is the actual firmware version. From 300 is android nougat, and the versions that end with 0 ("b370") are for dual SIM, those that end with 1 ("b371") are for single SIM.

l-31c432b370 how to install
Hi,
I have bricked my device today with this update https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=961840155545586862
I install it via twrp and than had the issue with voice command instead keyboard during setup. Fortunately I am now again back to Android 6.
Could anyone please tell me which one I have to choose and by which method I have to install it. I mean, should I install it with stock recovery or with tmrp.
My device is now unlocked and it's rooted with twrp.
Is that the right data: http://www.stechguide.com/huawei-p9-lite-b388-b389-nougat-update/
There are 3 files. One update.app and than Update data and update file. Should i install all 3 files or which one I have to choose?
Ps: Normally my system was Vns-l31c432b130 and now I have Vns-l31c432b161. But the phone is dual sim though.
Many thanks

Solved to rollback and update the usual way
Hello,
if anyone else has the same issue, this is the way to solve it.
First install the right rollback package and the stock Rom.
Here is a tutorial:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/hu...torial-rollback-n-to-mm-c432-devices-t3563955
After I was again on stock, I updated first to b370 and than again updating to b380 by Huawei system update app.
Again unlock and install twrp and su if you wish to.
Many thanks

anything that works on the l31, c432 means it's the european variant
So all L31 variants work? Or is there differences in lte bands lets say like 432 and 185 variants ?
You can flash whatever rom version you want.
As most of us, we've installed vns-l31c185/c636b360(latest version of Nougat) and we don't have bugs or problems.
No matter what oem info it has (oem info is the Variant/region of the phone, like c432 is for Europe, c185 is for mena , c636 asia i guess, correct me if I'm wrong) The version will be compatible with your phone.
I don't know if there is differences between oem info of each region , personally i installed c185b360+ the additional package of c432b328 over c432b161,( i was in mm and went to nougat) and i dont have problems with mobile data.
@simo255
Thanks for the answers. Like i said i currently have rooted L31c432b336 and revolution recovery.
If i want to update b360 should upgrade through dload method or twrp?

Via twrp you can flash nougat without changing oem info. If you want to update via dload you must have the oeminfo of the rom you want to install.( So if you are on C432 you can t flash C185 Ffirmware via dload because you havr c432 oeminfo) but be carefull..there arr lots of bricked devicea.

Sorry to rub it, but I want to be sure because I already had troubles when upgrading to nougat.
But....so in twrp I can just flash the bigger (abt 1.2gb) file and its should work? No need to flash second smaller zip?
I have had Sony devices past 3 year and I have used to flash those

Ive ashed the second file and it gaves me errors
Like i did , flash the bigger size and the additional package, take a look at my thread : https://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-p9lite/how-to/nougat-official-firmware-t3512932
I will follow simo225's instructions.
Now I'm beginning to wonder what is the differences between smaller zip and additional zip, because I thought they were the same

How can I fix NRD90M after device update with P10 Plus C185 version? Please Help.

I accidentallay installed VKY-L09C432B152 rom to my Huawei P10 Plus VKY-L29C185124 version device.
Now the device name changed to D189 and model number is now D189-L29 (compile number is NRD90M test keys)
I want to change version to VKY-L29C636B151. I think this is the right version for my device.
My only goal is change region from middle east to Europe. No root or something else. Just have the europe version.
But, i installed wrong version. Bootloader is unlocked now and when i try to install VKY-L29C636B151 version from hwota folder, it stopped when comes to %5 percent of install.
How can i fix this?
download the correct region firmware update and use HWOTA flash method to reinstall proper version.
Use rebrand not update with HWOTA tool and flash the same firmware twice.
i have the same issue, what if i found the problem via HWOTA method in update.bat?
http://imgur.com/9aZNs2m
what exactly does hwota say? saying "about 5%" doesn't mean anything, and no one can help you from there.

P8 lite ALE-L21 firmware update

Hey guys, I have been trying to help my friend who owns a P8 lite, to upgrade his firmware because his phone is in a buggy state where the wi-fi doesn't show any network at all, he can only use data..., and any OTA updates fail.
He is currently on ALEL21C22B190 version. First of all when I was searching for europe firmwares, they all had the C432 code, so I have prepared 3 firmwares for this route:
ALE-L21C432B204 -(5.0.1. to be ready to receive Marshmallow)
ALE-L21C432B564 -(Initial Marshmallow firmware)
ALE-L21C432B636 -(Latest Marshmallow firmware)
So my first question is this. If I do the standard SD card Update.APP way of upgrading, will the C22 current version allow me to install the C432 version?
If not I have downloaded this C22 version, (which I couldn't find easily) ALEL21C22B582 for a marshmallow version.
What do you think guys? Am i thinking this correctly? Will the C432 versions work?
And what the hell is wrong with his wi-fi sensor!
Edit: Foundout from here that C22 is for China,Europe apparently, but the lack of C22 downloads intrigues me.

[Firmware] Which firmware should i use to update to emui 5.xx with VNS-L31 C432 B226?

My phone had to be repaired last week, and the Huawei repair service changed everything in the phone except for the backplate.
However, I am now stuck with emui 4.1.2 in firmware VNS-L31 C432 B226, and i can't find a replacement firmware for the system.
The phone shows no update available in stock.
I have TWRP and magisk installed atm, just so i could try and get a different firmware with emui 5.1 or 5.0 at least, which I did to no avail.
Is there any way to find the correct firmware compatible with this phone?
Googling this firmware gives me no clues as to the correct path to updating this phone.
Should i use an adb/fastboot command prompt to update it, or use the dload method, or even the extract the SYSTEM.img from UPDATE.app method?
I just don't want to revert to an "earlier" version of the firmware with the dload method just to have my phone bricked.
These are the firmware i tried already:
[TO BE UPDATED]
TL/DR:
I have a Huawei P9 Lite repaired to a stock:
Firmware: VNS-L31 C432 B226
EMUI: 4.1.2
in Portugal.
I want to know a compatible firmware or series of firmware patches so i can get
Firmware: VNS-L31 C432 Bxxx
EMUI: 5.xx
Thank you for your time.
Hello,
it's strange that with an unbranded european firmware your phone didn't upgraded to android 7....
Anyhow i never done a forced upgrade but if i were you i wil try with HWOTA update, like explained in this thread.
So first make all your necessary backups, then unroot and finally follow the guide to upgrade.
P.S.: If your phone is dual sim try install B370, if single sim try with B371.
All the best

I tried a bunch of firmwares for emui 5.1 that didn't work, or which had NFC and bluetooth not working. I ended up downgrading to B160, and am now reupgrading to B370 after checking that both of the previously mentioned are working properly. I will update on this issue asap.
Also, it seems like the firmware I originally had was updated in march 2018, so it was really an updated official firmware with emui 4.1. What a weird setup. Could it be to make sure the NFC and bluetooth would be working? I just don't know...

I did it and it worked, however i flashed the recovery partition of version VNS-L31C432B380 with TWRP and now can't do a OTA update to B388.
Should I extract the recovery img from a b380 FULLOTA update and flash it to my recovery partition with fastboot?

Hey,
surely without stock recovery OTA updates won't work,
so yes try flash it with fastboot, then update to the latest/wanted firmware and finally unlock bootloader,
flash custom recovery and root (even if wanted).
Best regards

Update P9 Lite from Android 6 to 7

Hello everyone, I have a P9 Lite which was issued from Vodafone Europe (originally VNS-L21C02B128), and I'd like to update it to Android 7.
Since none of the stock ROMs I tried would pass the verification when updating via the Project Menu, I found and flashed a newer Android 6 which works fine apparently - build number is currently VNS-L21C900B170.
Trouble is all of the newer ROMs are still not working. During the verification phase, it says they are not compatible with the phone.
Any ideas what is the simplest safest way to get to Android 7 ? Thanks for the help.

- Unlock the bootloader
- on android 6 rebrand to C432 global
- in TWRP install fullOTA-MF-PV VNS-L21C432B370
- then you can upgrade to a higher version by installing a Service ROM via dload method (it will lock your BL again).
The problem is probably with your current build number - the C900 is fake firmware, incomplete or incompatible. I'm afraid you won't be able to unlock the bootloader or rebrand the phone with this build.
Hello Alf, I did try VNS-L21C02B346 but it didn't work, both with the original and the newer ROM. I also tried the "SERVICE Full Repair VNS-L21 C432B381" from here, also with no luck.
The current B170 ROM was labeled as "VNS-L21C432B170" on the site I got it from, but now it shows as C900. This one updated with no problems via the Project Menu upgrade command, the only one to work so far...
I will see later about unlocking the bootloader thanks.

You can't install C432 on C02 and vice versa without changing oeminfo, that's why you now have a C900 region and failed verification.
Thanks but I don't know hot to change oeminfo. Can I use SRK Tool ?
Also is there a free way to unlock the bootloader ? Is it this one ?
Does the phone have to be dissasembled, or is there a software method as well ?
Is dc-unlocker free for phones with android 6 and 7 ?
