Was wondering if anyone has tried the HDR+ camera app for the Snapdragon 820?
Personally I think the camera app is good now but if this can make it better than heck yeah let's do it.

I did, it doesn't open on MiFavor 5.0
I can confirm it doesn't work. It immediately closes when opened. Too bad would of been interesting to try.
maybe someone with an LOS-based ROM should try. seems to be a problem with mifavor more than anything

I've tried latest Google camera on AOSPExtended but it doesn't work. But I didn't try to make it system app
Doesn't work on LOS as user app. someone suggested that it's probably a camera HAL problem
Yeah, same issue here in stock B25. Guessing it's the lack of Camera 2 API
Could anyone with Root try to enable Camera 2 API and test it
I have been reluctant to root so far as everything just works fine and sacrificing the 3 year warranty was a bit steep on a phone like this but I would do it right away,if HDR+ was confirmed to be working... I would even travel back in time to retake all pictures with it, Rick style.
Could anyone please try the following:
Edit build.prop.
Make string 'persist.camera.HAL3.enabled=1'
If the string doesn't exist, add it.
Save, reboot.
Install this modded APK:
https://www.xda-developers.com/google-camera-hdr-ported/
And if it is not working, I know US ROMs support RAWs in camera (stock A2017G EU ROMs don't), could anyone please try?:fingers-crossed:
Thanks in advance and cheers from Germany!

Stock A2017G ROMs support RAW since like May or maybe before...
One step closer I guess! Now the camera UI starts but without the camera actually working, and after a couple of seconds it says 'The camera device encountered a fatal error'. Buttons work.
I guess it's this:

I edited a magisk module to enable hal3 in build prop.
However when I open GCam, I get fatal error.
Edit:
I also tried installing the latest version of GCam (com.google.android.GoogleCamera_4.4.020.163412804) from apkmirror and it works while HAL3 is enabled. But sadly, there's no HDR+ option in it.
Btw, if I disabled hal3, gcam crashes.
Also, I added in the attachment my magisk module to enable camera HAL3.
From what I read, the Axon 7 uses its own proprietary hardware abstraction layer to talk to the camera instead of the Camera 2 API, so even if you can get Android to think there's a camera 2 API, it still won't work for lack of driver code
I`m running the latest Resurrection Remix ROM with the standard GAPPS installed and I can`t even get the apk to install.
Whenever I tap on install it tells me (roughly translated from german):
"App was not installed.
The package is in conflict with an existing package with the same name."
Any ideas how I could bypass this? It`s not very important, since I don`t think it`s going to work anyways, but hey
Is there a chance that we can get the HDR+ feature working on the Axon 7?

Lol it's a little obvious. you have google camera already installed (or aosp camera) which has the same name as the google camera. You have to uninstall the camera but it's a system app, so for that you'll need to use something like link2sd/app2sd, or some system app uninstaller
I don't see the reason why you'd do that though

But as long as it won`t work there is for sure no reason to do it :/ Guess we all have to wait and hope

Hello,
this thread is only for development discussion about enabling camera2 api on xperia camera. If you have anything useful, it's the right place, however, it's not for non-dev things.
What are we going to do ?
The best way for enabling camera2 api is porting camera hal from sony aosp camera.
So I have attached sony aosp camera hal at this thread. We should do some modifications on kernel to make it working on stock rom.
Current Status : CSID needs to be updated on kernel
This can help us :
https://github.com/sonyxperiadev/ke...rch/arm/boot/dts/qcom/msm8974-camera.dtsi#L63
*Before testing camera hal, you should do 2 important works :
1. Remove following line from default.prop located at ramdisk : (At the moment, this is optional)
camera2.portability.force_api=1
2. Go to system>lib>hw and delete camera.qcom.so (This one is necessary)
Thanks To:
@davidteri91

i know, but if you read, he wrote "Need some testers to test attached camera hal on Z1/Z1C"
PS: you're not a dev too
I will get myself multirom to run stock, if it works I will start testing and try to edit the kernel. If we do it properly, we could maintain BIONZ right?

Hey, I could not get multirom to work. I also had quite some stuff to do for school so I could not test either. Today I switched back to stock rom and will have more time the coming weeks.
I did as you said, except for the default.prop. Put all the right permissions, copied over the files, and rebooted. The camera, as expected, does not work, so I captured a logcat and dmesg.
Sorry for taking so long .

Which HAL did you use? Also, could you explain a bit more about csid, and how we should fix it? Would getting drivers from the AOSP kernel be any good, or should the stock code itself be updated?

hey bros, does enyone knows how to make google camera work on custom roms?
usually it just works on most custom roms... have you tried just flashing it with a gaps package that includes it? that should work. but then again, I've never had an issue with it when I installed it from the playstore either. it should work with no issues. Did you check to make sure all the correct permissions are set for it? if permissions aren't correct it will force close
Having the same issue on RR official. App requests permissions, once you have given them it crashes and crashes again whenever you load it up.

Latest Google Camera versions do not work because they require camera HAL3:
https://source.android.com/devices/camera/camera3.html
Seems like no one has so far managed to get HAL3 working properly on custom OP2 Nougat roms. Devs have tried to enable HAL3 multiple times on OP2 roms, but have always reverted back to HAL1. In case of HAL3, the photos in portrait orientation are scrambled, and some apps have focusing issues. The most important benefit of HAL3 is the support of capturing RAW images. Other benefits include better photo sphere support, etc.
Latest HAL3 enabled rom release I know of is RR 5.8.2 from 25.02:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=529152257862705912
On that one the latest Google Camera 4.3 works, but portrait orientation pictures are messed up. Also RAW image colors are screwed up in OP Cam app.
I hope that the HAL3 issues are fixed after/if Oneplus releases Nougat for OP2, as currently it seems like it is either too difficult for devs to fix it or even impossible.

Since OOS3.5.8 sources has been released and OP2 has HAL3 support for quite a long time, do you think some of the custom nougat roms could take this advantage to enable HAL3 supporting? And have you heard anything about it? I want to switch to custom nougat rom but camera functions always make me go back to OOS.

Hi everyone , today while using camera i noticed hdr option is missing along with slow motion and iso & shutter speed option from the pro mode in Moto camera . Even front camera is not opening. However in 3rd party camera apps front camera open but hdr is still missing. I am using modified stock 7.0 with camera2api enabled , defcomg chromatix mod and 32 bit gcam by savitar. How to fix moto cam as i use it regularly ? Thanks all in advance
This is happen bcuz of enable cam2api idk why maybe the Moto cam app dosen't compatible with camera 2 so if you want these options back you have to disable cam2api. Same of you I tried so many times to find out what happened with camera and discover that enable cam2api make this bug happened.
The stock camera app relies on the phone's default camera api. Enabling camera2 api breaks it.

I've updated to 10.5.10 and it looks like there's some very nice updates - particularly working Widevine L1 on an unlocked bootloader - very nice indeed!
The problem is OnePlus have tinkered with Photochrom in this update and it can no longer be used as an Infrared camera directly - it now adds additional information to the main camera.
Some may like this trade-off but personally I think it kinda sucks. It's not broken, I just preferred the old functionality. With that in mind - does anyone have any ideas how we can revert this?
So far I've checked:
- Removing the newer APK and manually reinstalling the older one.
- Confirming that the OnePlus Camera Service version hadn't changed - it hasn't.
- Installing the Google Camera APK via xXx and seeing if that can access the camera (looks like it just crashes out when I try.)
My thoughts:
- Perhaps a kernel change but that sounds unlikely
- Probably a vendor change in which case reverting the libs should suffice.
If I can figure out what's needed to revert this change I'll throw together a Magisk module.

just try installing it, and you will find photocrome features. install the apk is not dangerous.

How hard is it to link a post to the original thread for this APK. Rule #1 is don't install stuff you don't know the origin for

So I did install that apk and now I have no Photochrom option at all.
Will get to the bottom of that and report back. This is the EU version so it should have that option enabled.

Right, I did get to the bottom of this - looks like a bug with the app. Basically I switched to the selfie cam and then switched back and Photochrom reappeared - woo!
This APK has made zero difference to the functionality of it being changed in 10.5.10 - it no longer shows pure infrared like it did previously.
I've tried the Android 11 Camera app and the one posted above, and neither revert the behaviour of the Photochrome filter to what it was in 10.5.9 (or 10.5.10)

Yeah that person has been spamming that all all over the OP8p fourms. I suspected it wouldent work. Drop that apk on virus total to see what comes up.
I released a magisk module to revert any changes made to the Photochrom camera, tested on IN2025 OOS 10.5.10. It doesn't work on 10.5.11 yet since they made more changes, but I'm working on that. Not tested on Indian or European models. https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-8-pro/how-to/guide-photochrom-filter-enabler-t4112519

Thanks - I did see your module but there's a problem - I'm basically running 10.5.11 because:
Outside EU the latest version is 10.5.11
Inside EU the latest version is 10.5.10
These are equal versions in terms of the camera functionality so basically any EU user running 10.5.10 is ACTUALLY running the equivalent of 10.5.11 outside of Europe.
In other words - if your module doesn't work for Non-EU 10.5.11 - it wont work for EU 10.5.10 either.
OnePlus are REALLY confusing things with these silly version numbers!!

OnePlus has done it yet again... if I have some time this week I'll look into creating a EU specific 10.5.10 version... no promises. Sorry for the confusion.
I tried to replace the OnePlusCamera.apk to the older version, doesn't work.
I tried to replace these following files from vendor to the older version
Code:
/vendor/lib/camera/*
/vendor/lib/hw/camera.qcom.so
/vendor/lib64/camera/*
/vendor/lib64/hw/camera.qcom.so
but still, doesn't work.
And I can also confirm, the "fake device model" method doesn't work either.
(for IN2020 Chinese model, it fake the device model to other region, so it won't block the photochrom filter, work at EU.10.5.9/INT.10.5.10 for IN2020)
Maybe someone can check the file diff, on those two zip upgrade file, and see what's changed
hope to see fix soon, this new photochrom is like 10% of what it used to be.
BTW, the whole privacy concern is just nonsense, IT CAN'T SEE THROUGH CLOUTHES
Otherwise, you'll be naked every time you see a security cam, coz those things got IR too.
How to delete "/system/priv-app/OnePlusCamera/OneplusCamera.apk"
