My KeyOne CDMA ver. Model BB100-3 with Sprint, loses the password keeper data when I power off or power cycle the device. I am regularly backing up (exporting password data) to the SD card and importing the fresh data file as my solution.
I have been using Blackberry's since 2003 and have a large (252) password entries.
I have a ticket number with support and have uploaded the event file to support but no solutions as of 08/07/2017.
Curious if others have had this issue or may not be aware or it yet.
Warning: be sure to export the password keeper data before you power cycle your device.
This happens to me as well. I gave up on it and just installed Dashlane

I have a JasJar and when I switch sims the mailboxes keep disappearing. I still see them in the TODAY screen but when I try to select them they are nowhere to be found. I also try to manually go to messaging but they are missing from there too. I keep creating new boxes and they are starting to number up Yahoo1, Yahoo2 etc.
Help Me.
Thanks.
Yeah i have experienced the same thing, whats seems to work for me is making sure you close down all apps before a soft reset or sim card change, go to start settings system memory running program list and stop all
This works for me every time now and i no longer have to set up my mail accounts
All you need to do is to turn off your device off for a while (a couple of seconds will do) before you reset.
It's because WM5 caches data to speed up the device a bit, and if you reset your device before it gets a chance to permanently write the data, it gets lost.
Best thing is to shut off before you do a reset, in case you lose data.
Well I sent mine to service, switched the mainboard and i can soft reset at anytime now, never looses any data any more.
Same Rom and config but the problem is completly gone

Which Universal device did you have exactly?
I have a Qtek 9000 that seems to be forgetting its authentications and I can't figure it out. Nothing else seems to be wrong with it which leads me to think it HAS to be a software issue, but I can't pin it down!
The only weird things I'm experiencing: Bluetooth devices lose pairing (device redetects them and asks for PIN), Wi-Fi access points get wiped clean (get prompted for WPA keys), and infrequently the Exchange Server password in ActiveSync and the GPRS login information to Cingular are asked even when "Save password" is set.
Qtek 9000 from Dangaard Norway
Min wiped Email settings, Wlan, and some GPRS settings
Don't know about BT, dident use it before i sent it back.
Thanks Bosjo, I was beginning to think I was the only one, or that it was a software issue.
I believe it's related to the fact that the IMEI temporarily disappears from the phone, so it loses authentication of itself and therefore the devices or credentials its encrypted with.
I posted full details here http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=797931 and will likely be shipping it back to the supplier tomorrow for replacement.
That's true, I totally forgot about the Imei disapering.
It also failed to display the radio version.
I know for sure that they actually switched the mainboard cause I have a different MAC adress, haven't checked the Imei number though.
It's a bit funny that this is a hardware error, one would think that it should forgett all settings then and not just pieces off it
Got the same problem. Im seeing my mail account on the today screen but can't access it, if i search for the e-mail's i can find them but can't access them. Anyone find a workaround or where can i delete my mail account i had before it dissapred, becuase now if i try to add the mail account again with the same name as last time it says that i alredy got a account but i can't edit it :/... Please help
damn, nobody found a solution for this? search thru the registry twice without a result ;/
does this happen only when you take off the battery?
another one ....
any solution for it....
regards
ady: nah when i do a soft reset
can't find it in somewhere in the registry either so don't know how i could remove this damn buggy thing :/
Hey there guys. Just wanted to share my experience with using wave secure on the desire.
After a friend was mugged and had his desire stolen from him it got me onto thinking about protection from having someone use my phone and loosing my photos etc and also trying to recover the stolen handset.
My search lead me to wave secure. A multi platform protection software.
It consists of two apps on the phone (the main app and then an app to prevent un-installing the main app).
It allows locking down the phone if a different sim is used in the handset and online tracking of the phone even with a different sim card inserted.
You can also issue commands to remotely wipe the device.
It so far seems pretty good and has caused no slow down of the handset as it does very little in the background.
There is a 7 day trial and then if you want to sign up input "goal" as a code to recieve a discount which works out at £10 a year ($14.99) which I think is pretty cheap!
Search in the market for it and give it a go!

the only issue i could see with this is the international text rates. Your phone under certain situations will text the server which is currently not based in europe. Apparantly there are plans to add a server in the UK at some point.
Also, if the phone locks, and the thief knows something about the phone, a hardreset will remove the protection. The only way around this is to root the phone and install as a system application.

But that again after a hardreset your data will be wiped and that way it will be more secure then not having the program
I use it for the data wipe function , it boring to lose your phone. But its even worse to have them looking at your Privat mail / work mail / phone numbers and so on.
And if they do a data wipe then its good enough for me

fair comment.
you don't get charged for international texts. I have had no such charges on my account so it must use a uk based server of some kind.
And I know that a hard reset will wipe it but as you so then so be it but in the event that someone finds it i know I can text my number first and request the program to locate the phone for me or lock it/wipe it etc. And even if they take the sim out and put their own in i can do the same so have a greater chance of either catching the theiving scum or getting it back etc.

So I upgraded to ZapX Ginger 4.1 and I attempted to try my tether app. It did turn on only after telling me i had the incorrect kernel to work. I never really tested it out, or attempted to connect to my phone via a laptop or other device. I just turned it on then back off right away. After turning off the tether I attempted to surf the web only to find that verizon was auto forwarding me to a website that would force me to sign up for a broadband tether package for my phone. It would not let me get to any website without agreeing to the terms and subscribing.
I then called verizon CS and they had no idea what was going on so they took my swap some thing in my acct and I was able to surf the web again. Not sure if anyone else has had this issue.. I did some probing online but didnt spend too much time on it.But it obviously looks like verizon has already begun tracking of tether (with rooted apps).
I just wanted to see if anyone else has tethered recently and/or if anyone else had a similar issue.
Same thing just happened to me

nvram patch, GB flaw and a crazy conjecture
Okay, I have a wild conjecture which I partially verified.
So the nvram patch works because it modifies certain fields in the nvram that is used to build the MIP profile at boot. In particular, they figured out the locations in the nvram which are used to build the NAI string. In a regular data session (non -DUN) the string is [email protected] and during DUN it is [email protected]. So they modified the location that contained these partial strings and took out "dun" from these locations. so if you used the 3g hotspot app, it would appear as if you were using an internal phone data session. This all worked fine in froyo.
Fast forward to GB leak The flaw, I think, is that once you establish a DUN session and even after you disconnect it, somehow the software continues to use the NAI string from the DUN session. So if you have an unpatched nvram, and tried to tether, you would be taken to vzw's mobile hotspot page. ok, now if you disconnect, your data doesn't work(if you are not mobile broadband paid user), because the sw still thinks you are in a DUN sesson. But if you have applied the patch, it doesn't matter, since the NAI string in both cases is [email protected]. I verified this. Another indicator is the color of the 3g text in the notification bar. In non DUN data session it is blue. When you try to use a DUN session, it turns black and it stays that way till you reboot the phone.
Finally, why I think P3 is pushing a new baseband module. Applying this will rewrite the NVRAM. I believe this NVRAM has switched the location of where the strings are stored and so the nvram patch will no longer work.... This could be proven if someone could extract the nvram file and look at it in a hex editor.
pretty wild, i know.....comments , disagreements very welcome
To be honest, I think your absolutely right. Especially since the auto forwarding takes you to a DUN vzw page.. my only question is where do I get my hands on this patch you spoke of.
I may be missing something here, but I've read the confirmation e-mail, the sheet I printed out when I requested the packaging material and the pamplet that came with the box to send back the Xoom.
It says multiple times that Motorola may need to access the data on your device to complete the upgrade so backup all the data, BUT then it gives instructions for encrypting the xoom??????? I've had my Xoom encrypted for months, and I'm trying to figure out if I can send it in as is, or if I need to do a factory reset. How would they access it if I leave it encrypted?
Am I just confusing myself??
Two different meanings of "data".
Motorola needs to be able to turn the xoom on, and make sure it boots up correctly.
If there isn't a master login/password, then they might not be able to do as extensive tests on systems with encrypted data, as on systems without encrypted data.
There also is the issue of how good the encryption is.

You are touching on some of my worries, but I'm still don't understand why they give you the option of sending it in encrypted then
I spoke with Motorola today and also received my 4G upgrade box. Based on what they told me, they expect you to encrypt the Xoom for your protection as they don't need to access your data just install the modem and make sure it turns on but according to the packing instructions in the box they sent, you have the option of just doing a factory reset which will erase the personal data and when you restart the device, simply don't put your Google sign in details which is what i am doing since I already backed up on my computer and Titanium.
It started when some scumbag stole my bag which contained my old phone (s5) and wallet etc
My phone had a dodgy battery, smashed screen and inactive sim.
I only had it with me as it still connected to wifi so was a back up if I needed internet.
I'm particularly worried that I had screenshot of bank statements and various other sensitive documents as well as passwords for email etc stored in my notes.
I had a fingerprint lock screen set up as well as a password on private mode (I'm pretty sure I stored some passwords etc in private but not all)
As soon as i realised I called my network and had it blacklisted I then tried to do a remote wipe via device manager but although it showed the handset on the account there wasn't a remote wipe function.
I then changed my passwords for everything I remember having including my Google device manager account.
Unfortunately there was videos/photos of my kids that weren't back up which breaks my heart:crying:
So my main questions are.......
What is the most likely thing a criminal would do with the phone?
Factory reset then sell abroad? Change imei number?
How difficult would it be to hack into the phone to get my data?
Would all of that be too much effort considering the value of the model?
Finally is there any way samsung can wipe the phone for me?
Thanks so much for any help
much love
