Does it also happen when you reboot youre phone? If not, you might be running out of memory. If there is a update availble for youre phone, its always adviced tot do a upgrade.
Yes when i reboot my phone i still have the same problem :-(

Well, then i am not able to advice you further. Maybe as you stated you should clean-up some text-messages. Or do a factory restore or update. But the last two suggestions are really drastic. You loose all youre data.
Hope some other member is able to help you
Did you notice this issue after installing a certain application?
If push comes to shove try TouchPal.
Free app on market.
i have the same issue sometimes. even after the rom update, or even moreso.
many times putting in text will be laggy and i have to wait. this wasn't the case in the beginning so i'm wondering too what is causing this lags...
install a app manager (Taskiller) will do and post the list of running apps, I suspect there will be something running in the background that is the culprit.
yeah i sometimes get the same issue - especially annoying when typing and I press the space bar, and it doesn't register the spacebar.

I fixed this by re calibrating the keyboard to my finger.
I came on here tonight to ask about the very same problem and found this thread.
My version of the problem is slightly different:
Usually when I've just turned on the phone texting is OK. After a while it becomes very slow and laggy, I mean glacial. If, for example I receive a text and want to reply straight away I'll hit 'reply' and it will take several seconds for the text entry screen to appear. Then the keyboard is laggy, literally two seconds delay after hitting a key before the letter shows on the screen.
Sometimes though, it will start off slow, like I just said and then half way through the message normal response will be resumed.
I did have Touchpal installed but this became very, very slow. Reverting to the standard keyboard improved things but still very slow as described.
I thought maybe it's something running in the background slowing things up but how can I tell what's running? Is there a good app for monitoring running apps?
I've just installed taskiller.
Amazing how many bits and pieces are running really.... anyway, killing a few running programs has improved things just now.
I'll keep an eye on it.
hi yeah i had the same problem as you when i was using the modaco rom
but then i changed to the updated rom
HTC Generic 2.73.405.5 with radio 63.18.55.06EU_6.35.06.18
on this website... first post
http://android.modaco.com/content/h.../03-09-hero-roms-radios-in-update-zip-format/
and all was fine
You will have this problem with many phones... On the hero it does not lag that much imho, it just takes a while to load many messages, like 100 and above will take a while, and sometimes the keyboard takes a while to load, that is true and I can confirm the same thing here :/

Well, when it is slow it is glacial on mine!
If it's misbehaving it can be five seconds from hitting the messages icon to actually getting anything on the screen, then a further five seconds after selecting the appropriate thread, then two or three seconds to get a useable text box to type into and then each letter takes a couple of seconds to register in the text box.
It's taken me a couple of minutes before now to actually get a two or three word reply sent off! Irritating in the extreme when you're really busy and just want to fire off a quick text.
I think you haven't updated to the lattest release of HTC for the Hero?
Then do so since it will fix your problems.
As people said here if it has to do with apps running in the background this is much better handled on Hero.
Android OS keeps all apps that you start in the background and begins to close apps if memory is getting short.

Mine's the T-Mobile G2 variant which I'm keeping stock (for the time being). The latest HTC ROM update has not yet been released by T-Mobile!!!!!
The problem I constantly get is some keys registering as a long touch, so I get the secondary symbol instead of the letter I intended. I press the key as long as all the others, but the phone seems to hesitiate for a second, then insert the symbol instead of the letter.

I sometimes get this also, but only in combination with the slow behaviour described above. If the phone is performing at normal speed then the long press problem doesn't occur.
Hey Folks,
I have noticed an occasional bug during multitasking situations that renders the Note 4 extremely slow and laggy.
In order to achieve this, you should try to run a full screen game. In my case, I played Beach Buggy Racing.
Then, you need an incoming background process such as an new email or text message - I noticed that this may trigger a disproportionate power usage bug and cause the on-screen app to run extremely slow. Upon using the "Close all apps" function the lag will be cleared and you may resume your previous app.
I have also noticed this in regular app usage, where the phone would spontaneously explode into a fiery ball of fire. Minus the fire.
Anyone know why this might be happening?
Does it only happen with Beach Buggy Racing? I often multitask with games and haven't noticed this bug.

Happens with other apps as well. For example, while browsing 'reddit sync' the phone occasionally freezes up and starts acting like a Moto Razr with extreme lag.
Closing all apps seems to fix this!
Perhaps the processor is throttling due to the heat.

I noticed after playing Candy Crush my phone would get really slow as in the framerate would slow big time. I realized that I had unchecked Force GPU rendering in developer options. I went and checked it again and haven't had the problem since
I was streaming a movie using allshare application onto my tv via chromecast, at the same time I was watching streaming football on my device via another application as well as browsing xda on tapatalk via split window. No apparent lag and device does not get hot. SM910C here.

Hi,
So my G2 (completely stock) has been great for the past year or so until recently.
Now, when I hit home, it often will stutter for a second or two to redraw all the icons. It seems in general the performance has dropped alot. I'm wondering if the problem is the RAM is being eaten by something, but when i check the app manager there is usually around 500 MB free.
It got so bad that swiftkey was lagging on keystrokes (i would type then wait a few seconds as a bunch of letters finally appeared) and I had to go to the stock keyboard.
When I am in a game however, the performance seems normal.
Anyone have any ideas on what is causing this?
Thank you!
This sounds normal considering you've been running it stock for a year. Sometimes it's good to do a factory reset and start fresh when things get laggy. Reboot if you haven't and see what it's like.
Was hoping NOT to hear that response Mostly because of app data.
Any suggestions for saving app data without root (so i dont think i can titanium backup).
Hi everyone,
Has anyone noticed a second screen lag when swiping it around while the main screen is off? I only have the quick toggles and music player on my second screen when the main screen is off. But regardless of any direction you swipe it, there is a VERY considerable lag as it navigates to the next item. For those who previously had the LG v10 and are currently using the V20, I'm pretty sure you've noticed that the swipe on the V10 was very swift. I'm asking out of curiosity if anyone else has had this issue. It's possible that due to first batches of V20s available to the public, these units are suffering from it? Idk, I just want to hear your thoughts if possible. Thank you!
I'm experiencing the same thing.
Not mine, I have also the music player active and actually is pretty snappy.
no problems here. I'm not saying there's never been a lag, but generally not a lag on my Tmo version.

When Pandora is playing the 2nd screen is noticeably laggy for sure. It doesn't impact how quick I can scroll around but it doesn't look great. Doesn't really bother me since the 2nd screen is too locked down to be that useful. I just leave it on Pandora controls or date/time
Yeah I'm seeing it too. Most of the time I need to double swipe it then it would jitter to the left when playing music. When not playing anything, it still has basic lag when screen is off.
Im noticing the same lag on mine as well when the main screen is off. Maybe something to do with battery saving.
Try this
Settings/Developer Options/ Tick on "Force GPU Rendering" this should make your beast smoother/snappier!
If root available try L Speed/Entropy/fstrim apps found on Play Store! LG V20 & LG G5 are both snappy beasts and most anticipated of 2016! They are well optimised with Snapdragon 820 and is better than Samsung.
I had this lag until I did a factory reset 3 days ago. I thought maybe it was the LG Home + App update from the lg app update so I didn't update until yesterday. The second screen lag is still gone. Maybe it was during initial setup that something borks. I don't know.

Hey beast,
So you recommend a factory reset? And you SURE it should be a bit faster or the lag would leave atleast?

Thanks. So how soon did you notice the lag and how quickly did you do the reset. Other than the screen lag being gone, did you notice any other changes or flaws?

Honestly I didn't notice the lag until this thread pointed it out. Probably because I've had Samsung devices for so long that lag is just part of life. Since factory resetting it, I've noticed it just runs better in general and not just the second screen lag.

The second screen lag hasn't returned for me after the factory reset. It swipes left or right very quickly.
I do get a random lag from several hours/days uptime on the regular screen though. A restart fixes that lag for me.

My screen was lagging so I reset all the defaults that go with the second screen and it now runs smoothly so long as my battery percentage is above 25%.
Almost 3 weeks and I've experienced no lag at all on second screen, always fast and fluid however it's been set up.
@Olivia1234
I'm curious why you think battery % would make any difference. Have you actually confirmed it does?
And welcome to XDA.
Same here. I am having lag on stock and now running mega rom on my 918. I have to swipe a couple of times and then it will skip the toggles I want ? maybe it's meant to be laggy so toggles aren't pressed by accident? Or so it's not swiping back and forth in your pocket??...either way it's very annoying
Nah mate, you not read my post above yours?
It should behave the same as main screen, be dumb to purposely make it behave like yours is.
Only time I have lag so to speak is when the phone has been sleeping for awhile in my pocket. When I take it out and wait for the 2nd screen to turn on and I try swiping sometimes it'll take a 2nd swipe or so. Almost seems like doze or deep sleep and it's not kicking it up fast enough to respond in time. So far has happened to stock, WETA and MegaRom.
Very annoying how long it takes for the phone to wake up when it's been in pocket. It won't even register the power button press to turn it on or the double tap to wake until the 2nd screen has turned back on

I've experienced that exact same thing. Sometimes I try to unlock it to fast and it just locks again no big deal for me though. I just ran across an issue running MegaRom.
Not sure if it has anything to do with the room though anyway the quick tools on the second screen are gone. If you scroll from the signature to the quick tools menu it's just black if you tap where the icons should be they work it's just like they are invisible or black I'm thinking it might have something to do with Nova launcher but I'm not sure I've played with the settings in Nova for about a day and it hasn't changed.
I have a pretty minimal bunch of apps installed, and yet when I pull the notification shade down, there is lots of stutter, and seconds-long delay when I try and swipe a notification away. As I use the shade to manage my incoming notifications all day long, this is extremely frustrating on such a new phone.
Anyone else finding this? Any ideas?
Yes me too and it's typical Samsung. Going back to pixel.
I have weird lag on notification and facebook until I take out the accessibility service like enpass autofill. once i have done that, everything runs smoothly.
Same here - I did uninstall a bunch of game and other apps, and since then the problem has gone. Phew. Kinda annoying it's really difficult to pinpoint what app is causing the issue...

YES! Having the same issue with notification shade and also the multitasking view when flipping through apps. I can't figure out what's causing it. For me changing screen resolution fixes it every time until it starts happening again.
I don't have any accessibility services running so not sure that's it. Anybody have any ideas of culprits? I have quite a few apps installed but not sure what could be causing this issue
Same here.
No lag at all.
I wonder how many people experience these things have rooted or something?
I've not had any issues with my S8 since I've had it.
Very strange.
Everyone has different apps, data and usage. You could give me your phone and I would wipe and use it and it would lag. That's the reality
Same problem and same resolution : switching performance profile via edge pan
I just got an update on Verizon S8 - the red tint fix or whatever but so far this has fixed my stutter problem. I'm hoping it lasts but by now I would have seen stutter and it's still very smooth. Crossing my fingers
Bittersweetly glad to see others are having the same issue. I first noticed it when I upped the screen res from FHD to QWHD, so I switched back and that seemed to help for a few days. But, it did creep back. I performed a factory reset, but I don't think that's a permanent fix, either. Occasional reboots seem to stave it off, too. I would really like to get to the heart of the problem. FWIW, I'm on a Snapdragon S8+ on T-Mobile, unrooted. Outside this hiccup, really enjoying the phone.
anyone noticed that when you swipe up to the app drawer, there is a hint of stutter/lag? Thats the only annoying thing for me at the moment.. Everything else seems to be ok!!
If your phone is rooted and you have a custom kernel running, you can see why this happens. Install kernel auditor and drag down the status bar, you can see that the cpu goes up a bit. If you increase the minimum cpu (both big and little) to 1 value higher than what you saw when you dragged it down before then this should fix the issue however I assume it will affect battery life but not sure to how much, you'll have to do some testing.
