Hello,
I have never had such a pain in the but device as this verizon galaxy s5, I'm wanting to know if and how can I downgrade it down to lollipop or kitkat so I can root it, and remove the verizon apps and such because I'm using it on tmobile, it works great just those useless verizon apps take up space. Below are my phones specs

Try this. Only for lollipop roms! But you can downgrade to PB1 https://www.google.com.do/amp/s/for...-s5/general/root-method-og5-ok3-t3290370/amp/
MM roms cannot be rooted...

Hi,
By older devices we CAN'T Downgrade to older Ver. like from 5.0 to 4.4.4. (or 4.4.2 on S5)
So my Q is can I flash new custom rom base 5.0 TW and keep older Bootloader (or I have to flash new bootloader to use 5.0),
so I can downgreade safely to 4.4.4 or Know will prevent it too?
What about Downgrade on cm/aosp/aokp? (5.0/4.4.4/4.2.2 etc with older devices like S5)
Thank you!
So I recommend don't rush to update ver. 5.0.
For now We have to be with patience wait for reviews from other Users...
5.0 isnt out yet...
I can't see where is the 5.0!
Did you say NOTE4?
Sent from my SM-N910V using XDA Free mobile app
For S5 G900F 5.0 is out in Poland...
But, this Q are before the 5.0 it out for everone...and pepole will upgreat and get stuck with 5.0 Only
without the option to Downgrade from 5.0 to 4.4.4 .
Any reason to stay on 4.4.4 anyway? Can't see myself downgrading once I'm on Lollipop. Can't wait tbh.
How can anyone answer your question since there is no 5.0 firmware for the Note 4 available at the moment? We can only speculate that it will not possible to downgrade, but we can't know for sure. You're way ahead of yourself.

Rumours say the poppin' Lolli will make rooting more difficult than ever before. That's quite a good reason if it turns out to be true.

1. That's sadly true. The developer has said he is working on it but he was being very vague as to when or if it will be made available.
2. It's still early, the update has only been available for less than a day so I'd give it time.
3. The solution is to hold off updating until there are some detailed reviews and bug reports for the new firmware. Surely the forums will be flooded with posts in no time after the update.
4. There are problems with CF Root on the Note 4 even on 4.4.4, some people report random reboots. I can't really comment on the validity of the reports though, as I opted not to root.
All in all, just don't immediately update, wait and see.

Thank you for your answers ! :good:
Update:[
O.K,
Some users can get Downgert for now on S5 G900F ONLY , but we can't know if samsung will block it in new Ver. of 5.0 and cause brick !!
For now in this 5.0 ON S5 900F ONLY from poland:
1.Backup everything
2.flashed it with stock ANG7 (one file).
3.After I flashed, I caught boot loop but then I entered to the stock recovery and did Wipe data/factory reset and reboot - that's all
Thank you @BaRTaSs88 for the info!

Just got my S5 yesterday... i wanna root but after much reading it doesnt seem the same as rooting the S3. Since lollipop will be pushed out soon should i wait untill after i upgrade to 5.0?? Thanks
+1 ...my new S5 is pestering me with an OTA. Should I let it before root? Can I determine what the OTA is without initializing it?
Thx guys!
SM-G900V
KitKat 4.4.4
BB G900VVRU1AN12
The OTA is NK2. I guess it depends how bad you want root? #1, we don't have a time frame yet as to when VZW will start pushing Lolipop and #2, there's no assurances that we'll even be able to attain root on 5.0.x
Hello
So firstly look at the image i attached....
Now i want to know if it is possible to root this phone and install CM12 or another custom rom or even an official lollipop rom that i will receive updates on ?
Thanks in advance
It looks to me like you have a Verizon S5, although the model number states otherwise and the DONGCHAO.617 build number seems custom. You do have a Verizon S5 though, so you can root on NCG, which you are running, through towelroot. However, ROMs like CM12 can't be installed without an unlocked bootloader, which is impossible currently on the VZ S5. You can get a Lollipop ROM with root by following these instructions.

What you're currently running is not official. The build number isn't official, anyway, so it won't get the lollipop update. The firmware that I'm telling you about can be updated, but I'm not 100% sure about the ROM.
Ok Thank you I will give it a try either today or tomorrow cheers for the info

Hey, I'm a very new when It comes to rooting so I appoligize for my lack of experience. I was wondering if there is a way to unlock my samsung galaxy s5 sm-g900f without using a computer, as I have no access to one. My phone is running on android 5.0 firmware. Thanks alot for the help .
Nope, not with Lollipop, if you were running a pre-June 2014 KitKat ROM, you could have used towelroot
Ah that sucks. Thanks for the fast reply
Hello there, I have a Verizon Galaxy S5 with Android 5.0 installed on it, and I'm fine with it. However, I heard that updating to Marshmallow would increase my battery, but I've also heard stories where the opposite happens. Should I upgrade to Marshmallow and take the chance for more battery life and a few features, or should I just play it safe and use Lollipop 5.0?
I've found the battery life to be about the same from LP to MM. If you upgrade to MM and don't like it, you can always Odin back to LP (PB1).

If you ultimately decide to jump to MM, check what eMMC chip you have before doing so. It is very important to mention there is NO root method for those with a Toshiba 11' eMMC chip. So if you have that chip and want MM, you won't be Rooted.
