Bluetooth and Google Play Music - LG G6 Questions and Answers

UI have a new G6 and a new problem with Play Music. When connected via Bluetooth to my 2016 Subaru Outback head unit, Play Music track info does not appear on the head unit display. My previous LG G5 had no problem doing this consistently. Other apps like Pocket Casts displays track info, no problem. I reviewed the G6 supported Bluetooth profiles and they are compatible with the Subie head unit.
This is maddening! Has anyone else experienced this and then found a solution?
cheers,
mordango
UPDATE: I had this phone replaced with fresh G6. It was still on the 11a Verizon software version. Connected it to the car head unit via Bluetooth, played Google Play Music, got all the info on the head unit as it was supposed to do. Updated to 12b software version, no more music information displayed on the head unit. So, the 12b update breaks this for Play Music. Some other audio apps still display info but Play Music and Soundcloud are broken.

This is an old thread I know but this still happens on my US997 on 15a

[Q] Bluetooth, Car stereo, track names not appearing

Hi,
I have recently switched from an S4 with 4.4.2 installed to the new note 4. When connecting to my car stereo with the S4 via bluetooth the track names of songs playing in the music app and pandora would show up on the deck.
On the Note 4 i have no issues connecting to the deck but now theres no track names.
Is this to do with android 4.4.4?
Any ways to fix this?
Thanks in advance.
Seems to be so many variables in getting this to work. Always had problems with my Note 2... Works perfectly with Note 4 and Ford Mytouch Sync.
Try deleting the pairing on both sides and recreate it.
I thought i tried that but ill give it another go.
No one else have this issue or can say it definitely works with pioneer car stereos?

Didnt work
my pioneer head unit was the same, also i couldn't control it with the head unit.
I ended up updating the firmware on the head unit and it solved the problem, check to see if there is a firmware update for your headunit.

The problem is actually with the car stereo. It probably still runs Bluetooth 1.2 or something. I have the same problem in my 2012 Mazda 3. It has a dated Bluetooth. All I see is BT Audio, however it works fine on Ford sync and cars with more recent BT versions.
I have... inconsistent performance with this. If I am using the Play Music radio functionality, everything seems to work well. If I'm playing through an album though, it seems to get "stuck" on the first track played. The track duration updates but the track name does not. Pausing and resuming will get it to update.
With the same car and my Nexus 5 running the same Play Music version I do not run into this issue.
I've got a 2012 Honda Civic EX with the factory iMid (not navigation) system.
Was using an HTC Evo 4g LTE with a custom 4.4.3 ROM and was able to get track names and control music from steering wheel and connected via bluetooth.
Got Note 4 and lost abilty to see track names / artist info. I can still control the phone via steering wheel.
Unfortunately, Honda issues no updates for my factory stereo. If I go 3rd party unit, I loose steering wheel and bluetooth integration with the onboard mic, etc.
I am hoping that Lollipop will correct some of these things or that Samsung will issue a fix. I've seen a lot of posts around the web where people are having the same issue: prior phone worked fine. New note 4 phone lost track names. This was affecting lots of car manufacturers, factory stereos, 3rd party stereos, etc. Hard to narrow it down to one issue, other than all new notes having a new BT stack.
Just throwing my experience in the mix.

dlitwin,
Take your car to Honda, some Civics/Accords/CR-V, etc have an update for the Handsfreelink module.

Well, a quick update here. My T-Mobile Note 4 received a system update yesterday, and after that the Bluetooth works as expected with my car.

Not really a stereo problem if the thing that changed was the phone. It should be backwards compatible.
Hopefully theres an update in the works to make it come back. Its illegal here to touch your phone while driving and showing the track names on the deck helps with not having to touch it.
Might have to look at using NFC on my cradle to make the screen stay on, turn on bluetooth and connect the music app.

Awesome! In australia we get updates late usually so maybe by the time you have lollipop ill get that update
Still nothing. I got an update but it didnt work. pandora has updated and no good.
Anyone found a fix?
First off I apologize for bringing up an old thread. I recently purchased the Pioneer DEH-4800BT head unit so that I could leverage the Bluetooth capabilities. Everything works great, with the exception of the unit reading my music library via Bluetooth. If I restart my Note 4 and then connect it via Bluetooth to the Pioneer head unit, it reads the library and allows me to browse my music as it should. However, if I turn off my vehicle thus disconnecting the Bluetooth connection, the unit will not read my library without me having to restart my Note 4. Has anyone ever encountered this? I have a feeling there is something on my Note 4 preventing the unit from reading the library a second time without restarting. Unfortunately hours of Google searches on this subject have left me with no solutions. What can I do to fix this? Thanks in advance!

Bluetooth Music metadata (Title/Artist) not available - AVRCP

I use a Moto G4 Play with my Sony Head Unit in my car and the track information (Artist / Songtitle / Album) is not transmitted. I'm only able to use play, pause stop, skip etc. It was working fine with my Samsung S6.
I don't find informations about the AVRCP Version on the G4 Play. With AVRCP 1.3 and above the metadata should be transmitted.
I use Spotify but I'm pretty sure that it's the same with Google Music or any other Music App.
Anyone expecting the same? Possible resolutions?
Might be the head unit, might be the phone, might be the app. You could try contacting either manufacturer for support, but I'm sure they're just going to point their fingers at each other. You could also check and see if there's a firmware update for your head unit. Another suggestion is to go to a B&M store with a lot of different head units on display (something like Best Buy should do the trick) and test out a few brands. Only suggestions I have. Good luck.
I think Poweramp has the option to send Bluetooth metadata. I remember my G2 had the ability to do that as it worked with my Alpine headunit. I'd like to think the G4 Play can do this, they seem to be cutting odd features on these phones. Like the notification light.

Bosion Android 6.0 Head Unit -- any thoughts?

Hi,
I just got a car from my company, it is a Toyota Auris 1.3 VVT, 2012 (before the recent facelift version), and I'm thinking to replace the built in unit with an Android HU.
I don't want to spend too much, and I would prefer a 2 DIN Universal unit, should I return the car or I get a new one, then I can move the HU to the new car.
I like the unit listed here: tinyurl.com/ybj7nmlo (please add https:// because I can't post url yet)
The price and specs seam reasonable. I can't really find any information about this unit, is it a safe buy? The seller seams to have many positive feedbacks, and they can deliver from Germany within EU so I could avoid customs. What should I expect or know about this unit?
I need the following:
- radio (FM mostly, if possible, by station name display)
- music player from SD card (at least 32GB size). Should be able to easily select artist, album, tracks. Would be great to have album art.
- navigation (IGO). I think it comes preinstalled with Igo, and then I can easily update to latest maps, other goodies. Would be great if navigation and music/radio can run together. For example, if I listen to music, but I run the navigation, then I hear the music in background, but when the navigation voice is saying direction, then music should fade.
- Bluetooth phone call, for incoming and outgoing calls. The built in mic should be fine, I don't talk too much when driving.
- Steering wheel control! I believe I will need to buy a canbus adapter for Auris, and then probably it will work. I have volume up/down, skip next/previous, and Select buttons. Should do the trick for volume, and skip track. Maybe long press would work too, for skip to next folder?
- would be nice to have it paired with an OBD2 interface, then I could even use Torque I guess or other app. I have an OBD2 device off eBay. Not sure if I can pair both the phone and the OBD2 at same time, or maybe yes? This is not so important.
Features like DVD/CD, and movies video playback are not important to me, and rear camera too.
What do you think, should I buy this unit, is it reliable? I don't need super sound, just decent enough. I have factory speakers only in front, that's it.
I still need to get a fascia for Auris, and a cage. And the canbus for steering wheel.
Or any other unit that performs fine in the same price range, available in EU from Aliexpress or eBay?
Thanks!
also looking but with dab built in.
if it doesn't have 2GB of RAM skip it
I bought the Bosion HU with Android Marshmallow about half a year ago, I am very happy with it.
Mainly because now I feel so free when I can install any app I want.
I installed PowerAmp for music player and TuneIn for radio stations, Google Maps and Waze for navigation
The microSD slot did accept without any problem my 64Gb sandisk card with all my music
It all works well, there are , though, a few small problems:
* The built in apps "steal" the speakers. Meaning, if you are listening to the Radio app (from the antenna, not the web) and you press Play on PowerAamp, you will still be hearing the radio. You have to launch the built in Music player, which "steals" back the speakers, then play Poweramp, this time it will play your music.
I haven't found any fix to this behavior, but to do the steps I just bescribed.
* Along the same line, the built in Music player and built in CD player seems to launch automatically and it takes a few minutes to stop them both and use your own app.
* The internal SD memory is not mounted, so you cannot write it
As you see not much to complain, for me these problems are not critical, and anyway I don't believe they are going to be fixed any time soon. The seller is not in the business of maintaining the OS.
The seller from eBay was very communicative and responsive, he/she just didn't have any solution to the problems, sometimes he/she did not understand the english in my description of the problems.

Ossuret android 10 head unit

I have an ossuret android 10 head unit amd the RDS only seems to show the station name no other info, I have Installed dab-z and have a dab+ box and I stalled an external dab aerial rather than the windscreen one as I thought I'd get a better signal but it's not great.
I was wondering if its possible to update the android on the unit or update the radio player as I don't like the built in stuff I searched the play store but they were all streaming players.
And one last thing I play music from tidal through Bluetooth which is fine but it doesn't show the album artwork is there a player or app which I could use instead to do this?
Thanks in advance

RESOLVED: Newbie to Android Car Head Unit

Good Day all. Hoping I could get some help with my new Android 9.1 inch head unit, version 10.1 (Model YJ9213AJ). I just installed the unit and have an issue with the CarPlay (usb dongle) which stops playing almost instantly when connected to Spotify and/or my songs on the iPhone. If I click play again it stops within a second. It also stops playing media files on my USB (local music) when it switches to the home screen, which it does on its own after playing music for approx a minute or two. I reset the system and unfortunately still have the same issue. Also on the bluetooth I get "please connect HFP first" too, maybe related IDK?.
Anyone have any suggestion on how I can try and fix these issues. Thank you in advance.
I had problems with android auto if bt was also trying to connect to the phone as an audio device. Disabled bt audio fixed it.
Then I just dumped android auto and went back to bt
Fixed it. Reset the unit and added apps one by one until the culprit was found. It was the CarPlay dongle app that caused the entire issue. Strange.
