One thing I really liked about the Touch Pro was the little light wheel flashed when you had an incoming text, a missed call, or a voice mail. This was especially useful if I walked away from my phone, and came back.
Now I don't know anything about programming, but I was wondering if it is possible to make the little buttons on the Touch Pro 2 flash in a similar fashion. Like a wave of light across the bar, if you understand what I mean.
Sorry if there is something like this out there. I didn't know what to search for.
why don't you just set the notification led to blink for each of these events. you can set it in the sounds & notification settings.

Maybe I'm blind, but I don't see where. On the sounds and notifications, it only has a tab for Sounds and a tab for Notifications. Not trying to sound snarky, but I don't see anything about a light on there.
Like I said, maybe I'm just missing it.
on the notifications tab theres a drop down menu for events. look in that & find which events you want the status led to blink for
That just flashes the little green LED at the top, right?

Right, sadly the tp2 only flashes one color with notifications/events. Flashes amber when battery is low
Hopefully someone can figure this out in the future

Yeah. I hope so too. I liked the little flashing ring of light on the original Touch Pro.
Does anyone know how or where to adjust the notification indicator speed? It is way to slow for me.. I need it to flash every second not every minute.. I've looked around in the settings but all I see is use or don't use nothing about color or speed. I assume it is something written into the apps but I also don't see anything in the apps for that either.
Page 300 of the user manual.....
Pulse notification light Check to pulse the trackball light every few seconds
when you have new notifications. Uncheck to pulse the trackball light just once for
each new notification when it arrives.
Found it

There is a app for that.
Must be root though.
Sorry about posting here although the question has already been asked in a different thread.
See beta app here.

Is it possible to, like the small little notification led, make the smartphone's buttons (home, search, back and options(?)) (or even just one button, if the respective drivers allow it) stay on when there's a pending notification?
I saw this on a friend's LG 2X and he told me that was a customization made by someone in a custom ROM, so that wasn't a stock feature.
I think this will be, if it's doable, an awesome extra feature since the led is too much tiny to capt our attention to the pending notification and I imagine it's not very hard to implement.
Thanks in advance.
Well I am gonna point out that the small notification led we have is really cool RGB led. So you can have different colours depending on what it's going to notify about. Sad thing is as you stated it's pretty small and not visible at some points.
I would say the thing you wish for is up to the ones who customize roms. Ask them, head over to the development section.
Right. I'll post this in Dev section.
As long as we're talking about notification led, can someone tell me where to find full a description of light colors and meanings? The manual on the Huaweis own site isn't full/complete, 'coz it doesn't mention a blue color. I once got the led to flash blue, when Watchdog Lite "got a wiff" of an app that misbehaved and notified me about it. And it wasn't a one time event, since it did it with every Watchdog notification.

if the application can manage the led then you could see every possible colour if it is programmed for it...
for example through the handcent sms you can put whatever colour you want for the notification the programm handles...
so maybe with watchdog you can try it too...
they don't have special meanings the colours and they turn on to the colour they are programmed to from the company...
Is there a good app to set notification light color? Besides Light Flow (which changes the color but only blinks once or stays always on) or Blink (which asks for an internet access I don't want to grant due the usability settings, and thus haven't even tried)? Any way to change 'em manually?

I picked up an LG V20 recently, and am loving it. I see it lacks an LED notification light, instead relying on the second screen to show notifications when the screen is off. Apps like Textra let me theme the color of its notification, which makes it much easier to identify at a glance. Was wondering if anyone knew of a way to theme or replace (for example WhatsApp or Hangouts notification icons to be a different color. Thank you very much for any suggestions.

I still think it'd be great if there was a way to make the whole 2nd screen flash a solid color at maximum brightness a few times because yeah it grabs your attention more so than a static icon
I found this thread through a search. I am wondering the same thing as I evaluate a V20. The email notification icon on the Second Screen (I use the Stock email app) is very small. Is there any way to make this larger at minimum and best case, flash continuously like a notification LED which the phone otherwise lacks? Just making it the size of the other Second Screen app icons would be a big help. I would prefer not to try rooting/customizing as I am not confident in my skills and am concerned about bricking the unit.
So I'm trying to get something where the Edge Lighting continues to activate instead of or with the notification light. Anything like this exist or is it pretty much, one spin round the edge and that's all you'll get? Surely by now there is something that keeps it going for notifications, right?

I would also like to know. At first I thought it would be a pretty cool feature, but I was disappointed that it goes on once and that's it. Would be nice to have it work continuously on a set interval, like the led notifications. Also would be even nicer if we could set it up to alternate colors according to the apps generating the notifications, like blue for FB messenger, yellow for SMS, white for missed calls and so on.

You can set different colors for apps, well at least in Edge lighting +

Thanks. But can you make it keep alternating the colors? So when you come back to pick up your phone you will know by the edge lighting that you have missed call, skype msg and sms, for instance? I have that with the led notification, using "Light Manager" app. But having that functionality on Edge Lighting would be better I guess.

Yeah.. I'm not trying to change the colors really. I'm trying to set it up so that it continues lighting up until you check the message or whatever, essentially replacing the notification light with edge lighting that continues to pulse for however long it takes to check it. If that makes sense
Sooooo I been digging around and I found something close to what I want. Not exactly what I'm after, but a lot closer than edge lighting (+)...

Yeaaahhh. I'm still working on getting it to operate the way I want, but I think this is the closest we're going to find. If you mess with the settings and get it close, feel free to share the settings.

I wasn't replying to you. My answer was for Gamekill who asked for per app color setting.

Edge Lighting Notification App setup steps
Edge Lighting Notification App setup steps
- this app works on a S9+ running Pie 9.0
- both google messages notifs and aquamail notifs will now light the edge with both the screen off and on
- so i thought i would share the setup steps that worked on S9+ Pie
- note the steps marked ** are critical
- eln = edge lighting notification app (the app costs $1.99)
setup steps (Pie 9.0) that worked for me
================================
- it best to execute this sequence in order
- install app
- **apps, 3 dots, special access, notification access, eln, on
- display, edge screen, edge lighting, on
- display, edge screen, edge lighting, show edge lighting, always
- display, edge screen, edge lighting, edge lighting style, multi-color (whatever you like)
- display, edge screen, edge lighting, edge lighting interaction, off
- display, edge screen, edge lighting, manage notifs, edge lighting notification (just this one needs to be enabled)
- eln app, apps, +, messages, aquamail (enable apps that you want edge lighting to activate when they receive a notif)
- notif, see all, all, messages, show notifs, on
- notif, see all, all, aquamail, show notifs, on
- **restart your phone
- **send a text msg to yourself (the edge will not light up yet)
- notif, see all, all, eln, show, on
- notif, see all, all, eln, eln Channel, on (this will not show up until eln sends one notif)
- **notif, see all, all, eln, eln channel, notif style, sound and popup (the popup part is important)
(this will not show up until eln sees a text msg or email)
- now edge lighting will work when the screen is off or on for both txt msgs and emails
