Hi guys,
On a white screen or the settings menu - does anyone else notice that the bottom part of the display is slightly yellowish compared to the top of the display? Its very subtle. I notice it maybe because I am a little OCD about **** like this but does anyone else notice this subtle difference?
Can someone atleast give me a yes or no?

No, not on mine and haven't noticed others posting about that issue.
Not on mine either. It's all bright white
I just got mine last night and yes, I've also noticed some yellowish tint on the lower half of the screen

can you guys try this out and tell me if you see this on your screens. first turn down the brightness and go to a web page with lots off black text. on my screen everything black leaves a faint line across the screen wherever there is a black pixel from right to left. do you guys see this? out is much less noticeable when the brightness is turned up.
I've seen a tiny hint of this in my screen, but it hasn't bothered me. If it's severe in your phone, you may want to contact HTC.

yes I notice this as well but I have to say that is only noticeable with backlight set to minimum, and i think it's a normal behaviour of an amoled screen. Now I have one question about the screen too:
When I'm watching pics or movies the screen has a very good resolution. For all the rest the screen seems a bit dotted and grainy, especially with text. For example in the app launcher where the app's names are written in white and the background is black the text is not extremely clear and if I take a closer look theres seems to be pink pixelss on the letter's edges. I can notice this thing almost evrywhere but I think it's a lot more clear to see with text and the backlight set to max. do you manage to see this too or do you think that's because i have a defective phone?

the grainyness on thin objects like text is 100% normal, its just how these OLED displays work.
This guy did some awesome research into the graininess issue using a macro lens on his camera. Really interesting stuff...

Eheh it's me that started that thread and i think that guy really did a great job trying to explain what's the problem... now i'm curious to know how many people notices this because till now it seemed that only me and that guy could see this "issue" so sometimes i'm still worried i have a faulty phone...it won't be a good thing since I'm from italy and getting a replacement phone wouldn't be very easy
My screen also appears reddish when i turn off the blacklighting in the clock app :\ maybe its defective?

No, mine experiences the same thing. Seems like reds are more biased when less power is given to the LEDs (not exactly a "backlight"). This is slightly noticeable on the lowest brightness setting too.
And mine experiences the "black line" issue too. I guess it's just how OLED screens work.

ok thanks, it's just reassuring to know that its not only my n1 experiencing this
Seen it slightly a few times. But never bothered me since I'm never in very low brightness that much.

I bet it's tiny, or Is it more than one pixel?
Picture? I'd use the display tester app and see if it's still there all the time on several colored screens. If so, send it in for replacement.
Its prob a small cluster of pixels seeing how obvious it is. No pics too small. Im sending it in for replacemenr for wifi and feeezing issues anyways.

I have one single white/bright pixel on the left side of my screen as well. I just got my nexus 10 today, so that is kind of frustrating. I was wondering with the PLS display a white pixel means a dead pixel or a hot/stuck pixel. I am hoping it is the later one, since in most IPS displays a dead pixel is black, but I am not sure if the same rule applies to the PLS display.
Does anyone knows if there is a fix for it or if it's dead for good?
https://play.google.com/store/search?q=pixel+curer I've never used it but this might work. Worth a try I guess. I would call Google though for sure.

Thanks for your reply.
I tried a couple of similar apps and they did no help. I'd call Google too if I was in US, however the device was brought to me in Brazil as a gift, so that is not really an option
I guess I will just have to name the pixel and leave it alone...

Has anyone been having a issue with there screen where light leaks out of the corners of the screen? Mainly on blacks and other dark colors? Is this normal or did I get a defective screen?
Mine has a tiny bit of light on the top right (about 1/4 from the right, where one of yours is). It's extremely hard to see, and only shows itself when the screen's pitch black and the room lights are off. So not a problem for me at least

Sorry my post was about the new nexus 7
Anyone else experiencing this??? It looks weird almost like it's a lag or something but it's not. It's like a legit pinkish type tint when scrolling. Am I gonna have to return my device ALREADY?!?! I literally just bought it 4 hrs ago -___-
EDIT: OK so I'm informed this is called "smearing" and that's the perfect word to describe it. Only happens in the settings, looks like the words are lagging behind my scroll and catch up lol. Is there a work around for it or something? Even though there shouldn't have to be but that'd be nice i I didn't hafta go through the process again of getting a new phone a day after I got this lol.
If you mean in the settings, that's normal. That's screen smearing/ghosting. Explanation is in this video here http://youtu.be/C_APG3kLiYs around 13:30.
The pink tint issue is another thing.

Yes, it only appears in the settings that it "smears" as you call it, yeah actually smearing is a way better word to describe it, not a different tint. Is it on every S4 that this is happening, or is it a defect in only a small % of S4's? And is there a workaround for it?
Also, what is the "pink tint issue"?
Thanks!

It's the software. I've heard of the pink tint but haven't read up on it. I heard the smashing affect is cleared up on the new update we might get but that could just be talk.

Yes. Every S4. There is a work around. But it takes away from the screen by messing with the gamma. The pink tint issue is when part of your screen is darker than the other. Like my S4 is dark at the bottom and gets lighter as it goes up like a gradient. Like this picture http://i.imgur.com/9jhVEnr.jpg or this http://i.imgur.com/DhryGwg.png
It's more noticeable on grey screens.

Actually now that I see it. I notice it on every settings menu with a dark interface. Doesn't happen on lighter screens, only the black screens really.

The smearing will only happen in dark settings yes. It has to do with unused pixels. Like the video I posted before explains. If you don't have a pink gradient issue then you're all good. If it does I'd get it exchanged asap before you're stuck with it like me.

Look at a solid dark grey background. If its darker on one side that's bad. I noticed mine when I was texting everytime I pulled the keyboard up the text bubbles changed colors a bit.
Hey guys, I think I have a defective screen. Can you guys please check yours out and let me know if this is normal?
On the bottom about third of my screen it is a shade darker than the top two thirds. Please install this app and look at the white and lighter color screens and let me know if yours is the same.

Also see the attached screenshot. From the red line down is where I notice it darker.
Thanks!

Yeah if my screen looked like that I'd throw the phone over the counter at the store!
Looks like it was drawn with the quill of a turkey feather dipped in pig's blood. Carrie would not be thrilled over this.
I cant see anything wrong with the photo. Maybe its my laptop screen but if your screen is slightly darker maybe its just adhesive that hasnt fully cured. Alot of times we create problems with our devices by nitpicking every little thing. Enjoy the phone an leave the little things alone.
I see nothing wrong
I do not see anything
I'm sorry guys, I forgot to clarify something. The screenshot with the red line is just showing where I noticed the darker part of my screen. It was from the red line down. And it wouldn't show up on my screenshot since it was a hardware issue.
Anyhow, I exchanged the phone and this one is fine.
Thanks!
