Don't forget you can launch the camera by pressing the power button twice. It comes up pretty quickly.

Camera Rating
GSMARENA doesn't rate the camera good at all .. any users having issues with the camera?? Quality seems poor as per their standards also the images they posted taken from the camera doesn't seem that great
Just looking for some feedback .. just ordered the phone online ..

It's a step down from the z3 I used for 3 years. The pictures look ok if you don't look too closely. So if subjects are close to you or fill the frame they're fine, and the hdr works reasonably quickly and well, but if you start zooming in and pixel peeping you'll see outlines around the edges of things and a lack of sharpness. I'm not sure if it's the sort of thing you can fix through software.

Back camera Pictures are yellowish most of the time. Low light pictures are worst.

The camera app launches fast enough. But I'm seeing lag when I take photos.
It's definitely not as fast taking photos compared to the GS7 (my previous phone), which is disappointing.
It's still very annoying that the camera quick launch only goes to "Superior" auto mode.
Taking pictures using the dedicated shutter button even slower. I use the on screen button instead.

I am interested in this phone, just learned about it yesterday - about the three-camera setup in the back. What is the quickest way to launch the camera on this phone if screen is off? I came from Moto phones, they have the double-twist to launch, and now I am using HTC U11, which has the squeeze feature. I know Android has double-tap on power button to launch camera, but that's just not fast enough for me, compared to the other two ways I mentioned.
You double press the volume down key to launch camera.
strangely by default this option will also take a picture at the same time which is silly, but you can turn this off.
P.S its more than fast enough to launch camera this way.
(i also had a htc u11 and currently a pixel 2 xl and p20 pro)

This does not work if you are listening to Music or something else. Otherwise it's pretty fast 0,4sec
Camera app launches is .3 seconds from the lockscreen.

For me, launching the camera is nearly instant. I've been able to take at least ten photos in about 25 seconds with little blur. I'll admit that's in daylight or other well lit instances.
Even in low light, I can snap at least a couple of photos quickly and gain some usable photos. I can thank the image stabilizer, and f1.8 aperture for that.
The Moto Gestures for the camera is a godsend. (Twist twice to open the camera app.) I can take candids with this phone with ease and the read-write capability of the phone is extremely quick.
the app is fast to launch, but there is often shutter lag. I was walking around taking pictures and noticed I had a few shots of the ground as I lowered the phone too soon!

In menu "Advanced features" you can set "Quick launch camera" by quickly pressing the Power key twice.
It works really well for instant shots but depending of the conditions sometimes the autofocus just wonders.
Today I found working version of gcam for our phone and boy, does it focus instantly even in dark places. Why the hel this app is not in place of the current default camera app.
There is also the function "Magnifier" which uses the rear camera and zooms really descend with stable focus. The app have few and clear buttons. I`m not sure but I suspect it`s using not the main cam but the wide one because of the minimal focus distance. Anyway, my grandma was impressed of how practical was.
Belgarionbg, can you tell me where to download gcam for our phone?
Thank you.
We already have a thread for it here https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-a7/themes/pixel-camera-port-t3863094 and you can find links in my post under #5
Currently I have tested all exynos builds but only GCam_5.1.018.177470874.41362666__N6_1.8.apk is fully functional without crashing.
The only problem is that it shoots only in 8MP even if 24MP are selected. But it`s fast as hell.

1.5 seconds from tapping the camera icon to snapping a pic.
Less than a second, it's pretty quick
takes about 10 seconds on my phone... is that normal? I noticed my phone runs much slower than I expected. I had the Moto Z3 Play before and I was happy with its performance. The Moto G power seems very unresponsive for me.
How to set up the Camera to operate without typing in my PIN?

My camera is often slow, depending on the lighting and other variables, but the main problem is that I can't figure out how to put the camera icon on my lockscreen so I do not have to type in my PIN to take a shot. I don't want to set up fingerprint reading. Has this been disabled in Android 10?
Thanks!

I was finally inspired to find the answer. The Moto app shows that you can turn on the camera on the lock screen with a gesture--twisting the phone up and down like opening a door handle twice.
I really like the wrist flicking gesture. From the point of pulling my devicer out and flicking my wrist twice, the camera app takes about 3 - 4 seconds to open up to a point where I will be ready to take a picture. Not sure if the wrist flicking gesture is unique to Motorolla phone, it's a great selling point if it is.
