i dont know what i did but when i open my browser (any and all browser), google search page load up. I install new and different browser and google search page load up on it too. On the web address it say "google.com/m?client=ms-{CUD}&source=android-home-hotseat". Any suggestion to get rid of this?
Go into settings and change your homepage. Set it to whatever you would like, www.yahoo.com or facebook or whichever.

nope i dont think it is that easy. Even if i install a new browser, it pops up as the first page. i have not even mess with the settings. Opera startpage is default screen. sprint browser is sprint.com as default, yet google pops up grrr!
Is this an isolated occurrence ? am i the only one having this issue?
Is there a way to disable the N7 from logging me in and offering to log me in to every Google re-seed webpage and service? I like to share my N7, but I don't like that if you open Chrome to Gmail.com, it will log into the Gmail service automatically or offer to do so. I can use a security app like App Protector to lock down the Gmail APP, but I don't want to disable Chrome entirely. I just don't want people to be able to use Chrome on the N7 to be able to log into Gmail, G+, etc.
How can I do this?

UPDATE: Better, but still no solution.
I found that Chrome has a settings (tap menu, then Settings, then tap your email address listed at the top of the menu immediately below "Basics"). There you will find an option called "Auto sign-in (sign into to Google sites automatically)." By un-ticking this box, it no longer offer to log me into Gmail, merely because I visit gmail.com (or mail.google.com).
This is only partially helpful. Anyone who knows this can simply open the settings and tick the box and then get into my Gmail. The solution is to password-protect the Settings menu in Chrome. Devs, I'd pay for that.
I have Dolphin set as my default browser. This works fine when I click web urls in other apps, but if I read an NFC tag with a web url on it, it always opens in chrome. Likewise, if I usse "Android Beam" to send a web page from another device, it opens in Chrome. How do I set a different browser as default for NFC urls?

Settings>Apps->Chrome->Clear Defaults
This should enable you to then choose Dolphin as your default browser again and have it stay this time.

Nope. In Chrome App Info it says there are no defaults set for chrome.
For some reason, android doesn't recognize Dolphin or Aurora as apps capable of opening urls from NFC tags, so as the only recognized app, Chrome was opening automatically. Installed AOSP browser, and then it gave me a choice, and I could set a default (but only between Chrome and AOSP).
How do you change or clear defaults for the NFC functions? Right now when I beam a webpage from Chrome to my phone, the phone uses Firefox to open (prior to installing Firefox it used Opera Mini) and it never asked me to choose a default app. I wnat Chrome to be the default app for receiving URLs/links via NFC or beam. How do I change this?
bump, anyone know why Opera/Firefox opens as the default browser when sending NFC links using Chrome? I want Chrome to be the default for NFC but can't find where to control that

Same issue. Happens on both Nexus 5 & Nexus 7. Can't find a solution.
Hi, I have the following problem with S-Planner application and do not seem to find a way to fix it - I mainly use S-Planner as an Outlook Calendar and I sync it with MS Exchange, my issue is that I have MS Lync meetings scheduled in it. When I open one of these Lync meetings invites into S-Planner I have a direct URL (link) which directs me directly to the Lync Meeting and automatically opens the Lync app. The issue here is that when I press that link it automatically opens via the stock Samsung browser and does not give me an option to choose what browser to use to open it. The Lync Meeting invite in S-Planner does not work with the Samsung Stock Browser as it does not seem to recognize that Lync is installed on the phone, so nothing ever happens. On the other hand it works perfectly with Firefox and Dolphin browsers, but as I said I do not have an option to make one of them the default browser to open URLs in S-Planner tasks. I checked the Stock Samsung Browser in application manager and no defaults what so ever are set for it, the "defaults" button is also greyed out. I also tried making Firefox the default browser for the phone following many articles, but even though it was set as the default browser, opening a URL from within S-Planner kept on opening with the Samsung Stock browser. Any way around this please, can anything be done to change that ?
Does anyone have an answer to that ? Even if it is not possible, please do let me know.
you have the option in the first time the chice to choose the default browser you can reinstall all the browser app and chose what u need in the first start will give u the choxe to choose ur default browser or go to application to default application and chose what u want

Thank you for your reply but as I mentioned there aren't any defaults set neither on S-Planner nor on the Samsung Stock Browser, I checked both in the application manager and they have both the "No Defaults Set" note on them, the "Clear Defaults" button is greyed out (inactive) on both of them, despite that when I open a URL (web link) from within S-Planner it does not ask me which web browser to use to open it, but goes straight to the Samsung Stock Web Browser despite the fact that it has no defaults set.
Does anyone know if there is a way to add the filtering options to the contacts app instead of just the contacts in the dialler area?
Samsung seem to have removed the "display only contacts with phone numbers" from the contacts app... which means when I sync the phone with my google account, it syncs ALL my gmail contacts down as well.
So my contacts app is flooded with hundreds of contacts with random names and email addresses from Gmail that I rarely use, and it takes me ages to navigate through to find the contact I want to call or message. In the grand scheme of things, it's a minor annoyance really... but it's something i really hate about this phone now and it makes me dread opening the contacts app.
Just wondering if it's an option I've missed somewhere or if anyone knows a workaround for it?
Unfortunately there is no other option than installing and using another contacts+dialer app from the Google Play store...
that what i thought... damn, i hate using third party contacts / dialler options
hopefully some helpful developer will add the option to a custom rom so i can actually look at my contacts app without dread lol
My S7E has the option to only show contacts with numbers. Maybe your carrier removed it for some reason? Can't see why though?
In the phone app, go to More > Settings > and there's an option near the top for only contacts with numbers.
AFAIK that option is available only in the phone dialer screen, not in the contact list settings, but maybe once selected in the dialer settings it's also working for the contact list.
I'm using a third party contacts+dialer app so I can't test myself.
Ahhh, sorry, I misread the OP. You're right, it's only for the dialler contacts list, not the Contacts app itself.
You can choose a customised list, where you can select what users you want to see. That might be good enough?
