Looking for broken/dead Cube iwork 11 - Windows 8 General

Hello,
Not sure if the post is out of place. However this is the only place where I can see Cube Iwork11 thread on XDA.
I can see that in the thread many people have suffered the bad EMMC bug like myself, and have rendered the tablet in a glossy 10inch paperweight.
I am looking to buy such nonworking/dead cube iwork11 tablet(s) , if anyone intends to sell, please PM me with your location, price and tablet pictures .
If the demand sounds reasonable then we can take in onwards for a deal.
Thanks.

What do you use to protect your X1

What do you use to protect your X1? Since this is quite a stretchable phone compare to many others I have used. I am looking at this full body shield
http://www.zagg.com/invisibleshield...es-screen-protectors-covers-skins-shields.php
Seems expensive for a bit of plastic, but also looks very good. Anyone has this?
looks very good? pardon me but the video is of a iphone not an x1 unless im missing something
If you do a search you will see that this has been answered before... and the accessories part of this forum would be the best place to start looking also in the other thread re this shield (not great by the way apparently) you will find the place where reports of this particular shield are less than flattering...
I use martin shields for my screen, its totally awesome, crystal and strong.
I only have a pdair case for my phone that goes on my belt/waist band...
Duplicate thread, please use the other thread in the "Accesories" sub forum of the X1.
Thanks

Galaxy Note: News and Reviews thread [UPDATE 09/11/2011]

Didn't see an aggregation thread of this kind for the Note, thought it might be useful for people.
First off, the Engadget review, surprised me how positive they were!
Then I've got a few of my own pieces (with lots more to come, fire away if you have questions!
Unboxing:
How to Root (Odin method), also has first demo of MHL and the Note that I'm aware of (showing off Shadowgun with a PS3 controller):
What else have people seen that is cool?
http://www.3g.co.uk/PR/Nov2011/samsung-galaxy-note-review-by-3g-co-uk.html
A full fledged review of the Note; much like Engadget, they have nothing but praise for the device.
http://www.slashgear.com/galaxy-nexus-vs-white-galaxy-note-hands-on-27191503/
This is the only video I've seen of the white version making an appearance.
Ooh, thanks for the 3G review, hadn't seen it yet!
Here is part one of my own mega-review:
http://www.androidnz.net/2011/11/galaxy-note-real-user-review-part-1.html
...and another one confirming microSDXC cards work in the Note:

Android Authority First Impressions/Review
I notice in none of those last two reviews do they mention the pentile matrix, or banding, or anything much of substance in relation to the screen. Precisely that sort of thing that makes me increasingly go off those major blogs reviews - they don't really get the concerns of us uber phone geeks...
More stuff, massive connectivity video:
Next part of my review is up here, covers entertainment aspects (audio quality, music and video playback, the browser, gaming).
Part one, if anyone missed it is here, and covers Unboxing, Initial impressions, Design/build quality, Screen and Benchmarks.
Unboxing from amazon.de. Starting right from the delivery box
A review by Ben Stevens of the UK "Which" magazine that gives a nice demo of the Note plus a desk full of official Samsung add-ons including:
Additional Battery Charger/Desk Stand
Horizontal/Vertical Desk Dock Charger
Car Dock
MHL/OTG Interface Leads
Protective Flip Cover.
Thanks NZtechfreak for tip on getting the Youtube video embedded here and for all your excellent experiments and info on the Note.
Had never heard of the Phonejoy gamepad - now have one on back order. Also getting into MHL and OTG experiments myself !

You just need the ID tag, the string of letters and numbers after the "=" sign.
@htc6500uk: Thanks for that, I have the flip case, but haven't seen the other things.
I am sad to say that after all that waiting and pacing and nail biting, the Galaxy Note was NOT the gadget for me. I actually didn't give it much of a chance. I had it out of the box for about an hour and what I felt to be a "horrible back cover" convinced me to take out my sim, take my Galaxy Tab 5" down and put the Note up in it's place on eBay.
I am not big on tweaking and rooting etc. My gadgets just need to "FEEL SOLID" and the Note didn't .. My Galaxy Tab feels GREAT .. My iPhone 4s feels GREAT ... but the Note was lacking .. JUST MY OPINION .. some people want thin and light weight. I wear a purse so it doesn't matter.
FINGERS CROSSED for some other gadget to come around soon .. I'm kinda waiting for something like the Note from HTC .. I will be in search of a solid feeling gadget, with phone and data on T-Mobile. That's all.

This is the wrong thread for this type of post... but I must say - what about a unibody frame, beautiful full glass screen and classy (if a little slippery) textured back didnt "feel solid" to you?
You are quite vague in your criticism...
There are no 'official' threads here, frankly, a review is nothing more than opinion. Let's keep the door open to everyone and respect their opinions, people are entitled to them.
THAT... WAS... A REAL... PLEASURE... TO.... READ!!
Grab a cup of coffee or your favourite beverage and enjoy the review. I damn sure did.

You may read my ever updating blogs dedicated to the Galaxy Note here.
Mind you it may not be as professional as the rest of yours but will keep getting updated constantly.
Hmmn, read the GSMarena review, interesting that their audio results were so impressive (I wonder if they still have the problem with testing with headphones, Supercurio previously was very critical of their testing results). Good to see an objective test confirming what my ears told me about the loudspeaker.
The GPS coverage was pretty anaemic, I think mine is much better:

Yours was without doubt was better and a joy to watch. I actually watched the whole video/route.
Also I do enjoy reading GSMArena's reviews, because I'm use to them(very old visitor/follower) but surely they are biased from time to time(or at least they seem so) and many times I did not agree with their reviews/remarks/findings etc.
P.S: Different thread for this but, it's kinda tricky that they did NOT mentioned the Note's front glass, since they even state it on their specs. My guess? They did not bother to remove it from the specifications.
For the record NZtechfreak, I love your reviews... to the extent that I have androidnz on my google reader now.
It's rare to find such in-depth coverage of the actual user's experience with a phone.
Review from the Telegraph UK:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/samsung/8894595/Samsung-Galaxy-Note.html
2.5 star rating. Complaints about the Note not replacing pen and paper seem to be the main focus and criticism.
Although I am holding my final judgement of the note until I have it for a while (only had it for a week), my opinion so far differs sharply with this review. I am guessing that the Note will get panned by some for its size, regardless of features or performance.

The Telegraph are just a newspaper though right? Not specifically a tech site? Most newspapers are terrible uninformed when it comes to technology.

Help on finding a case

hey,
im searching for a case that suits my needs and i cant seem to find any thing. The ones i do find are in the states so delivery is a PITA.
Here are the things which matter:
UK delivery within reasonable price
Work with the dock
lightweight/slim - i dont want to protect it from drops more just from scratches and marks sliding it in an out of my bag
have some kind of landscape stand option, even if it only lifts it an inch of the table. portrait standing isnt needed
i did read through the case threads and i just cant find anything
Cheers everyone
The Transformer Accessories sub forum would probably be more suited for this question, and there're even some topics about cases ...

My Samsung Smart PC pro 700t case and beyond

Hi all,
Been a while since I posted in these forums! I think my last check in was around the time of the HTC Titan.
Anyhow, I recently I have been designing cases for high end tablets. I just finished work on the Samsung Ativ700t. Check it out.
Demo and making of.
http://youtu.be/-QlsQIz71KU
Now that I'm finished with the Ativ I'm looking for the next best high end tablet to work on. I was thinking that the Helix may be a good fit.
The Surface Pro seems like it would be fun but MS seems to have things pretty well covered already with their kickstand and keyboard cover.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Isaiah Coberly

Yes, what about a 500t one? There is a lot more demand for the 500t tablet than the 700t.
Appreciate the video for the fabrication process.
Looks like Batman armor. You should stick in a bat insignia (and hope DC Comics won't sue). Suggest Batman-style "musculature" styling accents. Glow accents? (http://thatscoolwire.com) Right now it looks...utilitarian. No sizzle. For high-end toys, you want some panache. A little je ne sais quoi.
The handstrap in the back looks useful and you should use it as the leading pitch, since most cases don't have the feature. As a logical progression, suggest enhancing strap with a 360 pivot--although it would be wasted on Windows tabs, since Win8 Metro is still functionally limited to landscape. Which segues to another question: Why Windows tablets, which has about zero market share? Why not popular Android tablets? Adjustable retention tabs?
Frankly, the origami folds look way too complicated to use, and can't be locked in place for optimal touch use, ie if you press on the screen, the whole thing bounces up and down like a bad shock absorber. Apple's tri-fold is the simplest and best. That allows two incline angles (for viewing & typing), which is all you need. You can allow said tri-fold in both landscape & portrait orientations, ie a tic-tac-toe pattern.
>Yes, what about a 500t one?
With a $129 price, OP is right in sticking to high-end toys. I think he can simplify the design and reduce a substantial part of the labor. But for higher volume (for lower margin), he'd need to go to a mass production process anyway.

Yours is the best reaction I think I've ever gotten from one of my videos! I woke up, Read your review and subsequently woke my girlfriend up Giggling at the thought of the Batcase. Seriously though, "Batman, if you're really out there, I want to make your case!". You know he wouldn't be caught dead with an iPad!
As for the rest of the suggestions and comments.
Hand Strap
There are other cases that have the hand strap. You are the third to suggest a swiveling hand strap. I'll look into it and see if I can find a way to Swivel the hand strap without increasing the thickness of the case too much. Too much is any more than .07".
The Price
The Ativ family of tablets taught me something about price. I initially offered the case for both the 500T and the 700T at $99. I had way more interest for the 500T but way more orders for the 700T. I Think of it like this, If someone were to offer me one of the two tablets for free, I would certainly take the 700t. That said, the people who bought the 500T most likely settled. It's that same decision making that prevents the majority of them from justifying a case that is X11 more expensive than the cheapest case they can get. Not every tablet has a bigger brother to separate out the price conscious shoppers so I'm greatful for having accidentally stumbled into the Ativ family. Though my product has the potential to be much more widely adopted, I am fine with the idea that I can continue making small quantities of hand made cases For a fair and sustainable price. With limited time and resources, it's imperative that I find tablet users that recognize the value in what I do. The very tablet that my potential customers buy tells me something about their decision making. I will never hand make a case for a product that someone has most likely settled for.
Origami Folds
The cover automatically folds into the stand. A child can do this. There's a removably attached Teather that activates this folding mechanism. The auto fold is one of the surprising features of the case. When people see the case in action for the first time They experience some rare form of the Bewilderment that is particularly stronger when they see it in person.. Because it delights people, The case is a lot of fun for show and tell. It is really commonly stated from users that they are giving demos in public places to perfect strangers and loving Or loathing the attention.
The stand has a very minimal amount of spring even before the live hinges are broken-in and is a sturdy enough stand that you would literally destroy the case before it would collapse/bend into an unusable viewing angle.
I couldn't agree less about the trifold being the best or better solution. The trifold is a design that fails to adapt and requires way more energy and attention to actually set up. If you can open a book cover and set something down you can use my case. The structure of the case will naturally adapt whether you're setting it down on a table, a knee, a pile of laundry or an un-even surface of any kind. I have literally had Amputees writing me and telling me that they love my case because they don't need a second hand to use it.
Thanks! And great reply!

reviews? buy\not to buy?

From the recent posts I see there are multiple serious issues such as not getting sms and not being able to install apps through google play, no 3.5mm(?!). But, as these are solvable.. overall - is this phone worth buying? Is the e-ink display usable and compensates for the issuses?

it's still early days for me with this phone. so, take my comment with a grain of salt. so far, it's not like the yota 2 (which i loved). i have not yet figured out how to get the e-ink screen to be its own self. it just appears to be there so one can mirror content over from the lcd. the other thing is that bc it is now a flat e-ink, you can screen protect it, but this takes away from the e-reader feel a little bit. i have read comments that the hisense a2 suffers from this. i recently ordered the a2 pro (so i will know soon enough).
one of the areas i like this phone for is that i don't have to carry around my other e-readers. if i am out and about, i can just flip over to the ereader and read. so you don't have to plan to take your ereader with you wherever you go. i am using this as a secondary phone. hope to have more of a solid review in the future.
