i thought about doing the same thing, but the Note 7 uses an omc folder vs. csc on the Note FE. i wanted to play it safe so i cherry picked features from the AT&T csc used on the AT7T S8. i combined the cscfeature.xml and the cscfeature_network.xml in to one file named others.xml, which is what the Note FE uses. i backed up the stock others.xml and the customer.xml and copied my version of the others.xml and the customer.xml from AT&T csc to system/csc. i also extracted the SmartCallProvider folder from an S8 ROM and copied to the system/app folder. as always, you'll need to set the proper permissions on the copied folders and underlying files. i wouldn't recommend using my approach....don't know what issues might arise and i have a second device incase the FE has issues. just wanted to share my observations.
after making the above changes,
pressing 1 on the Samsung Dialer dialed my voicemail; since i use google voice, adding my number with the stock dialer didn't work
i can now access the call forwarding features and enter my google voice number
i know have the ability to identify unknown numbers - Caller ID and spam protection (although i don't know if it works)
and most importantly (for me), the "Places" tab is now available on the Samsung Dialer so i can search for places when i travel
the only thing that's not working is Voicemail notification for my primary number.

@iraqgsm, if you are asking if you can make changes similar to what i did (in post #3) without root, the answer is no you can't. root is required because you are making changes to files in the system partition.

Ah, that's too bad. I was about to ask if you got Samsung Pay working.
You can't use the CSC from Note 7 because they changed the way it works with the S8 TouchWiz which the FE has, although you can easily port the S8 or Note 8 CSC to the Note FE and should be able to use it no problems.
Any step by step guide and what available CSC options available
I know it's a long shot but being in Canada, hopefully someone can port S8 Canadian CSC codes or international.

With stock firmware gear VR doesn't work, I hope that some cook will find a simple way to figure out our Note FE as S8 changing CSC or other things..

What about VoLTE and WiFi calling. Do those features work after installing the att settings?
Related
I have a non-EE S5 and have been trying to find out how to enable Wifi Calling. On this tread it describes editing system/csc/others.xml and adding
Code:
<CscFeature_Setting_SupportWifiCall>TRUE</CscFeature_Setting_SupportWifiCall>
I have found people reporting this works. So, I'm assuming the same process will work on the S5, but I don't want to root, so I was thinking of using an updater-script to replace the others.xml file with one that contains the new line.
Does anyone know if this will trip the Knox flag - which is the reason I don't want to root!
What do people think about this working?
If I get a definite answer about Knox, I will give it a go and post my experiences/details, along with full instructions/files if it works!
Thanks
I edited my others.xml file but no change.
I think it has also to do with the installed csc, maybe. Also there has to be some communication integrity with the operator in this feature, this could be probably why the operator given locked phone works. Phone should know where & to whom it should remain connected while on wifi only.
Samsung Galaxy S5 DUOS LTE (SM-G900FD).
ROM: G900FDU1BOC1, Android 5.0.
Tried it on my Galaxy Note 4 and I can't see the option anywhere so not working for me
Same problem
I have 900F BOC7 BTU stock firmware (as its the only one i could flash after a hidden.img.ext4 fail issue) and i'm also looking to get firmware that enables wifi calling. I tried calling EE customer services to see if i could blag an update but if you havent bought your phone from them you're screwed. However, they did enable the wifi calling option from their screen so you do need to call them to do this from their end.
Anyone know how to add the wifi calling option ?
Thanks.

How? Sorry,not that technical!
am using Sprint version note 3. the N900P, i installed Darklord it worked great tho no network signal (can't make calls) then tried AryaMod also great ROM very smooth and work perfectly tho the LTE/4g or any network data is not working (Can make calls but no internet if no wifi ) then tried Phronesis again work great no LTE/4g then again tried the NX MAX or something like that then Remix restriction i think the name of it. AND AGAIN work great smooth but the LTE/4g or 3g won't work. you end up with a device that has no internet out of your home XD I mean i don't know what to say to thanks the devs for giving this for free like really wow its amazing work and its all there to download with one click really thank you... although i don't get why the sprint version is even there as one of the supported version if its not really working... anyway this is not my point i just wanna ask if someone tried ANY ROM on SPRINT N900P Sprint USA version and it actually worked (worked as just worked) am not looking for perfection when am downloading something to modified my device i understand its stupid to ask for that. want perfection go spend 800$ and buy new) am just asking for a phone that make call text and have internet lol
TL,DR Is anyone Live in the USA and with Sprint version have the galaxy note 3 N900P version that tried any Marshamallow or nougat rom and it actually worked pls ? thanks in advance
Problem is this is not the Sprint forum and Devs do not have a Sprint to work on .
Sprint developers need to do the work .

Choose SPR or XAS as csc in rom's installer.
Make sure after installation that the right APN is checked in the mobile network settings.

It also requires some changes in the build.prop file to prefer cdma and network settings associated with cdma which I don't remember right now. Even then, depending on the rom, none of that will change a thing. I learned a hard lesson to never get a cdma phone again, since my n900p is now on gsm, has no issues with roms anymore.

i totally agree, for an S7E port for example, which i think better than Note7 ports, here what is exactly needed :
1- choose SPR as csc code in aroma installer (original Darklord S7E port have this choice, AryaMod don't)
2- Check if these strings exist in build.prop or manually add them
Code:
ro.build.flavor=hero2ltespr-user
ro.product.name=hero2ltespr
ro.product.device=hero2ltespr
ro.build.product=hero2ltespr
telephony.lteOnCdmaDevice=1
ro.config.multimode_cdma=1
ro.use_data_netmgrd=false
persist.data.netmgrd.qos.enable=false
ro.config.combined_signal=true
ro.telephony.default_network=10
ro.cdma.default_numeric=310000
ro.cdma.default_alpha=Chameleon
3- unzip then put the attached library to "system/lib/" (set permission to 0644)
4- Finally, check the correct apn in settings.
I think that's all it takes.
Thank you for your answer. appreciate the help and info. but it actually work now been 2 days after updating and it work like EVERYTHING sms,mms,calls, LTE, 3g everything is actually working thanks to this thread
https://forum.xda-developers.com/note-3-sprint/help/note-3-roms-n900p-t3364802
read it all and this is what i did. flashed Aryamod. (am sure any other good ROM will also work) then flashed the file in the 5th or 6th page the fixed file the dude links the NVMO i think the name of the file that choose the network for you NOT THE ORIGINAL one download the one that the dude linked in the 5th or 6th page he said its the fixed one... then after flashing the rom open the phone then finish the installation then switch off the phone and flash the network file and choose Sprint i didn't have any need to do the APN (actually the APN was and still grayed out for me i can't change anything i even bought a pro version of APN manager and didn't have any use for it cause the phone is actualy working...
in case this didn't work flash the network file first then the ROM file and open the phone finish installation then close and flash the network file again... hope this will help.
the only reason i went for Aryamod cause i like it this method MAY (not sure) work on any other ROM darklord or whatever you like you can try its fun lol
this is the file you need to flash after flashing the ROM and open your phone and finish installation flash this file. in case the link didn't work for any reason get it from this page
https://forum.xda-developers.com/note-3-sprint/help/note-3-roms-n900p-t3364802/page6
look for (((xsisbest))) he wrote (Here is that mvnobuzbee file that has a fixed xml file.) and he attached the file and this is what work
all the thanks to him and to everyone in that thread
Frustrating when called +1 is added and when you try to call number back from recent calls unable to do so... any fix available? thanks in advance
Joe
You can look in the "more settings" section of the dialer settings (phone app) to see if it is there....if not try changing csc code to xaa and flash sprint firmware...if still no, try the xaa firmware for u1 devices....if still no and it is really something you want, root and run custom ROM
Hey guys, first time on this forum and I am trying to figure things out. I never flashed a firmware so im a noob to this, but I can definitely follow along. Here is my main concern:
Seems like you need a T-Mobile device to get access to features like advanced messaging, visual voicemail, wifi calling, etc. Things I use all the time, but I never knew it would be taken away if I purchased an unlocked S10 plus.
My main goal is to get these features back, which from what I understand requires flashing the firmware? If there is any other way I am more than open to listen to it!
I have Odin and downloaded the "userdata" linked into this post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s10/how-to/g975u-g975u1-firmware-links-t3905897 specifically USERDATA_TMB_G975USQU1ASAT_CL15296297_QB21819666_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.zip
I figure I unzip to get the tar file, select Odin use data and only flash this file? Kinda clueless about all this.
In addition, if I were to flash I hope that Samsung Pay, Knox, finance apps will still work; also the warranty is still good. I know that rooting the device will/may make these unusable, but I just want to confirm.
Any guidance is greatly appreciated, thanks!

WiFi Calling, VoLTE are working just fine, but I get what you mean... I mostly flashed 4 firmware files: BL, AP, CL and CSC and couple of times did flash USERDATA too. As userdata file was not required to be flashed unless you want all bloatware from the carrier. Don't know if S10 needs this "userdata" file. You would want to flash I mentioned and specifically flash CSC file and not the HOME CSC(as it usually retains user data on your phone) and in your case you want odin to wipe the device. I want to flash too, but waiting for firmware to become available on sammobile website

Basically I should wait for Sammobile to upload those 4 firmware files (BL,AP,CL,CSC) and then use Odin to flash the firmware. Seems the instructions for that are really easy.
As far as the Samsung pay / finance apps, would it mess those up like rooting the device?

There should be no issue with Samsung Pay and other apps, as you would be flashing official Samsung firmware. Wait for firmware files to be available and then you would be able to see which files will be included and go from there. On my unlocked S8, I didn't flash userdata file and still had all T-Mobile features you were mentioning. If with S10 we will have the same, then skipping userdata is better as the device is pretty much clean without unneeded apps
I installed T-Mobile's Visual Voicemail app from Play Store, and it works just fine. (Unlocked S10)
I did the same. Figured if I was paying outright might as well get an unlocked device. But the Samsung's from tmobile have the multi line function and I'm trying to get rid of my iPhone. But I use that number alot as well. So that multi line function built in for DIGITS worked for me. If you flash it let me know if it has it built in

Wait. How did you get the multi line functioning on the s10? I have been scouring the internet for a solution
Curious, are there any features/capabilities that the unlocked version has, but the TMobile version does not? I ordered an unlocked S10+ (haven't received it yet) and TMobile is my carrier.
From what I've read so far, built-in caller ID, and the ability to turn mobile data off, are not on the TMobile variant, but I can't confirm that.

Thanks for the info too! I am also quite curious about this as I have an unlocked S10+ still pre-ordered. Unfortunately, it's too late for me to cancel it and re-ordering it on T-Mobile before April comes around as I would like to use the phone on my travels by then (still hanging on to my S5 at the moment... lol).
From what I've read, the two major features lost on unlocked phones are EVS and RCS messaging. While RCS messaging is something I can live without, I would really like to keep the EVS (Enhanced Voice Service) feature usable on the phone when it arrives.
One other question, are you able to get the updates via T-Mobile on the flashed firmware or does it have to be flashed again for future updates?

VoLTE and EVS are different. EVS is an evolution of the AMR-WB speech codec (aka HD Voice) whereas VoLTE uses said speech codecs to work. VoLTE is currently recommended to use at least AMR-WB for good voice quality. As EVS is the newer speech codec that uses similar concepts to that of AMR-WB, it is backwards compatible with technologies already using AMR-WB, which includes VoLTE.
That is what I can gather, feel free to correct me if I am wrong in any of the details.
Thanks to all for their insight. Just an update:
I flashed the T-Mo firmware on my unlocked S10+. It worked - RCS and video calling are back! However I noticed 3 things: 1st I used the CSC, but it did not delete all my apps. 2nd when the device rebooted after flashing it went into recovery mode (is this normal?), but i re-rebooted it and it went right into my phone.
3rd while RCS is working on the phone and between my Android 8.0 Note8 Tmo phone, the Note8 cannot send pictures/files to my S10+. The S10+ can send anything to me, but not the other way around. Read, Delivered, typing indicators work. I am not too concerned about this as I am getting an S10+ myself next week so this will not be an issue.
Any thoughts about that?
Other than the RCS thing, the S10+ device is working completely normally. I heard you have to change the CSC on the device but I did not do that (echo, adb, and all that jazz) - is that necessary as well?
Lots of random thoughts over here!

Would you be able to help walk me through the process to do this. I used to root and flash custom roms to phones but the carrier specific and Samsung stuff is new to me. I'm interested in getting on the TMO firmware possibly for RCS but I don't know if it's worth the hassle for it yet

By any chance, could you let us know if the built in VVM is working? (accessed from the dialer by tapping the 3-dot menu button ((from within Dialer)). You should see Visual Voicemail as an option, not just Voicemail.
I flashed the TMo firmware as well, but used Home_CSC. That didn't seem to matter, since Userdata wipes the phone anyways, but I'm curious as to whether that is why I am not seeing Visual Voicemail.
As for the booting into recovery, did you have the reboot option checked in Odin when you started the flash? Mine has booted to recovery before, but it has always been because I forgot to check that box.

So I have another update about this. When I included the userdata in Odin it reset my device. The visual voicemail is not working still, and i can't confirm (or i dont know how to confirm) if wifi calling or VoLTE is working as there isn't any real indication on the device. But all my RCS problems have been fixed!
...Except that all my MMS contains the "Subject: No Subject" header on every single MMS. Every. Single. One. I had to change my default messages app because this was just too damn annoying.
and yeah, i did check the box.

No. This does not trip knox, nor will it void your warranty. Tampering such as flashing unofficial software will incr the Knox counter. This matters because technicians inspect the software state (among other things during checkups).
Assuming they actually verify it, the device will fail this step (not the case when using signed packages from Samsung for conversion!). .

So i am trying to change the CSC of my Galaxy note 20 ultra from DTM to DBT or VD2 ... all of them are a part of OXM multi CSC firmware.
Flashed via ODIN using the right CSC file, and the flash was successful however the CSC did not change ... Tried multiple times and ended up with the same outcome.
Samkey still does not support N20 ultra !!! Any tips on how this can be done?
I am running the latest firmware with August patches.
Security Patch Level 2020-08-01
Product code DTM - SM-N986B
PDA N986BXXU1ATH3
CSC N986BOXM1ATH3
Help will be highly appreciated.

I tried and SIM card CSC change is no longer working, i have an INDIAN SIM and once inserted in note 20 ultra, it detects the sim but no longer pushes for a mandatory restart.
Something has changed somewhere, and i have a feeling its got to do something with One UI 2.5 update

Since the release of the S20 series this method no longer works. That's why everyone had to use samkey.org or the free apk by the mysterious Dev but since the August security patch both no longer works.

How you were able bro, (Even following the youtube link) I follow all the steps carefully (No go at all). Personally i try to change my Rooted Note20ultra CSC no way, it remain the same.
By the way I try mysterious Dev APK Not working anymore.
I have root on N968B , if anybody has an idea of what will work, I am willing to be guinea pig

I just did the *#272... method. Still working on my N986B/DS even after the Aug security update . I even reverted it back to the original CSC code before I sold it yesterday. Sold it and I have now the N9860 512Gb Hongkong variant. Tested the *#272... code but it's not working on this unit.

Since you're rooted, Just edit the cscfeature.xml file with <CscFeature_VoiceCall_ConfigRecording>RecordingAllowed</CscFeature_VoiceCall_ConfigRecording> and reboot. Voila!
2 things that made the *#272*IMEI# work on my N20U5G Exynos (Aside from having an OXM fw, see attached files)
1. I copy-pasted the IMEI. If I just type in my IMEI, it will not work.
2. I used Samsung's stock Phone app. Having been using an Android One device, I am used to using Android's Phone app. Since it's my go-to phone app in my N20U5G, the code will not work on it.
From my understanding, this code only works on Exynos variants of N20U/5G. Since the DATA feature for my SIM2 was disabled on its original f/w, I changed my CSC code to XTC. Now I can set DATA on both SIM slots.
CONFIRMED CSC CARRIER CHANGED Follow the link Below :
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=83451937&postcount=3
Well, Just Follow OP Instructions.
My Phone Rooted, I Follow Dr.Ketan Instructions how to root in Exynos section.
Am on latest Stock Rom, All Bloatware Remove with Adb Shell command.
1. I do Not install TWRP.
I extract Patched AP (magisk) and copy Boot.img, then convert Boot to Patched Kernel.tar
And Follow OP Instructions for CSC
"You will also need to edit mps_code.dat inside /efs/imei to reflect the carrier you desire. This needs to be done from a rooted system or from TWRP. After doing this and rebooting, you will be booted into your carriers system."
"Keep in Mind" You Must Copy mps_code.dat from your system to your SDcard then modify it with your desire CSC carrier Code. (For me I use Fx editor) (I have FX file Explorer Plus Root v8.0.1.0). Replace your Modify File to your System.
Reboot....
I confirmed All working Great Guys. We Can Change our CSC Carrier. "THAT'S A MAJOR MAJOR MAJOR GO". Really thats Awesome. Mentalmuso My Bro That's Awesome share Buddy. You Really Rock on this One.
voilà Done.

I think most would prefer a non-root option as some apps may no longer function correctly (i.e bank apps).

Yeah tribalfs,
Same here. No way of changing the CSC of my N9860 .
So for now call recording only with an extra app "BoldBeast" (with some quirks - like lower sound volume on the caller side "compared to our own level", and non-working on Bluetooth calls).
But it's better than nothing (My Note 9 still has call recording "using the Thy SIM Swap/reset trick", but I wanted a new experience "need to move" ).
Cheers,
FJorgeR.
I have adapted the S20 CSCfeatures zip if anyone is interested - just install in Magisk

Hello everyone, I really need help. I got the note 20 ultra and since i'm moving to anther country for a while i've tried to change firmware region with odin (I really needed that samsung pay). I've downloaded the smart switch app to get samsung drivers then made a backup. Then i started process according to the instructions. it started ok but it got stuck at the super.img i've waited for almost 2 hours and stopped the process. Now my phone in Odin mod. top left corner says (svb fail) and super: SignInfo (build ID is NULL). Is my phone a brick now? I'm really going crazy here it's almost 3 am and no progress. Please could someone help me out?

try force restarting your phone using the volume down and power and see if it takes you the the screen where is says there was an error during an update screen and reflash the firmware again. it should not have taken 2 hours on that part and i can only assume that the app froze on your. with an average computer it should really take more that 5 minutes to completed a firmware flash
