This was over a full typical working day for me, achieved with the following;
Charged up to 100% at around 8pm Monday.
Went to bed at 10pm, did an hour of reading, then put it into Extreme power saving mode overnight.
Woke up to find 2% drop overnight.
Went to work and activated “Work Mode” with Bixby Voice.
This is Wi-Fi off, screen at 40%, phone on vibrate, and Medium power saving mode setting.
During the course of my work day on strong 4G signal I e-mailed, WhatsApped, Reddit, web browsing, three 5 minute phone calls, half a dozen photos, and a couple of hours of music to my Bluetooth speaker.
Went home and set “Home Mode” which turns off Mid Power Saving mode, turns on Wi-Fi, and screen up to 50%.
Three hours of browsing around on my phone before bed.
Another hour of reading in bed.
Extreme Power Saving mode overnight at 28%.
Woke up to battery at 26%.
Drove to work, activated work mode.
Checked Reddit for fresh memes.
Took screenshots.
Plugged charger in at 19% as I don’t want to deep cycle the battery too much. I just wanted to see what it was capable of, and I am pretty impressed. I wouldn’t get this over weekends or slower work days. I also won’t get this much going forward, as while going from 100% to flat was good for old Ni-Cad batteries, it is bad for Li-Po batteries. I am going to keep this phone operating between 30% and 90% where possible, mostly charging up with a nice slow 500mA USB connection at work.
I wish I could help. I listen to music all day at work and keep the phone plugged in. The time it's not plugged in... and I am by no means a power user... I'm getting far better battery life than the S7 Edge gave me. And that's with maximum screen resolution and performance power setting.
This is what I'm currently getting with light usage. AOD off. FHD resolution. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 4G and GPS on. Dark theme helps lots.
On a very lite days use I can easily get 2 days usage out of the Note 8. However typically I can get a day and a half usage out of the Note 8 before I have to charge it.

How is battery consumption for 1 or 2 or several hours of music listening (in percent) ?
I guess that counts as "light" usage
I personally get excellent battery life. I average 2 days and on occasion will get a 3rd out of it. Im not a heavy user, but I use Tidal on Master audio settings with My cans when I listen to audio for periods at a time and see low drain, im happy. I bought the phone within a month of its official launch on US carriers.

Anyone else can share their experience with (local) Music Playback and battery consumption ?
e.g. 3 hours = 5-15 % or so ?
I'm trying to get an experience/knowledge how much battery this consumes with vendor optimized ROMs (such as LG's) on Snapdragon 835
i travel ~1.5 to work each day by train, i listen to music (bluetooth headphones) in this time and check Google maps once or twice. when i arrive at work, my battery is usually still above 95%
A full day's light use consumes only about 15-30% with this V30S.
That's with display adjusted to lowest moderate brightness per given ambient lighting, and turned off whenever not actually being viewed.
However, a mechanical 2.5" USB hard drive running on OTG power drains the battery down much faster. Maybe 20-25% drained in about 10 minutes of hard drive use including file transfers.
This implies that the battery runtime performance of the V30S is largely a result of more efficient SD835 and display, maybe SW optimizations too.
I've been unplugged for 33h and I'm at 50%
battery with 2 short phone calls, 12h Spotify via Bluetooth, 2h news reading (nyt app), handful of photos and videos and 50 WhatsApp messages.
I don't really care about sot because I am a light user, but it seems I can easily get 2-3 days out of the 30+, not sure if others get out more but I'm pretty happy about it.

I guess this is more medium use than heavy or light, but coming from a 6p with a dying battery and the shut off issue, I woke up this morning on 100%, unplugged it at 4am when I woke up to close the windows and go back to sleep, with my phone set up from unboxing it yesterday, but not 'de-bloated' or anything. Wifi, BT,Data and Location are on, the auto screen adjustment is taking care of that, and I've been:
Facebook
Messenger
Hangouts
Browsing Forums
Playing a few games
Showing it off to colleagues etc
Currently sat at 81%, which is very impressive, 6p would be on charge by now! Will see what it's like with the same sort of use (which is my usual use tbh) by bedtime.
Coming from the, 1+5 with a smaller battery i did expect more stamina, albeit with a higher resolution screen as well as larger.
But even with the same apps installed and the same routine it just doesnt compare.
Cleared 10 hours SOT with the 1+5 quite easily, the pro barely makes that.
Probably the system or CPU /GPU causing it.
Nothing wrong with the battery but there are definitely better performers out there
I think it's pretty enduring with light usage.
With the last charge, I had 2,5D of standby and 5.5h DOT. Mostly web, emails and Toy Blast because I was stuck in a traffic jam for hours and needed something to play....
how the hell are you guys achieving these numbers? i'm at 26hrs standby, only 1:03 SOT, and i'm at 52 percent. i've optimized the living hell out of the settings and app starts. at least i know what's possible for others
How long have you been using it? I'm currently at 26h standby, 0.4h DOT and 84%. I have already ran a data backup, been on the phone for 40 minutes and did some emailing. BUT let me tell you, it was not like this from the beginning. I also have been optimizing the phone like a maniac because out of the box, I would only get like 30h standby and 2.5h DOT which is ridiculous. But I only recently noticed that the phone got gradually better after around 3 weeks with this device.
With light use, I am getting through two days of use before I have to recharge. Pretty standard.
I was very busy this week and didn't have much time to use my phone and here what happened , my SOT was 3 hours 28 minutes but idle time is interesting
Of course, this is not my usual result, usually i charge my phone every second or third day, and sot can be 10 hours, so i'm happy with battery, definitely

Anyone noticed any improvement in screen on time since the Pie update?
Thought I'd see how much battery I get on Pie. Charged phone to 96% and it's now down to 15%. This gets me 4h23m on screen time, 1d1h38m standby. Strangely Nova launcher showing 44% app usage (Screen usage 15m). Used phone for web browsing on WiFi & maybe 30 minutes 4G, 1 hour Tidal Hifi using Quad DAC, screen on 50-60% brightness, location on all the time, NFC off, Bluetooth off.
Anyone else wishing to post up some stats?

This is the screen on time I've been getting. Pretty good in my opinion
Using the Sprint model
Still on oreo....
The battery last 4 hours of screen on time with around 25-20% battery left and can last until 5 hours if I use it until it dies.
I get around 5:30 hours screen on time with 15-20% remaining battery if I charge the phone 100%. I noticed that screen resolution does not affect the battery as much as the dark theme which has helped alot. I use oxygen os dark theme.
I never use bluetooth and location services very rarely, most of the day I am using wifi and mobile data is off. The signal is also pretty strong here which makes the phone use less battery for it.
I get a little bit over 6h of screen time and 7% left after one day of use. Black/night themes help a lot apparently.
I am mostly browsing, watching YouTube, netflix, listening to music. WiFi on NFC on data on, BT off.
Good stats!. What dark themes are you using?
I'm waiting for a V40 to replace my defunct S7 Edge that stopped fast charging and refused to be recognized on 2 computers with the proper drivers on them. I spent hours trying to do everything I read that can cause this. Apparently this afflicts later Samsung models as well..
Research led me to the V40. The biggest knock I read in reviews was battery life, but if I can get 4+ hrs of screen time, that'll be fine. The Edge wasn't very good on battery, either..

10 hours screen on time+ 2 days of light use
3 days or about 10 hours of screen on time. mainly it depends on screen brightness and things you are doing e.g. gaming and stuff.
I've got a solid 2 days with a single charge and I always do a 80% battery MAX for recharging.
Most of the time when I plug in I am still over 20% in the 20-30% zone.
On days when I used the phone more I may occasionally end up around 15% but never bellow that is my bottom min for plugging in wall charger (NO FAST CHARGE).
I mostly type messages (text, mails, telegram...) and I have scripts running to enhance powersaving.
For example in low light environment (75lux) my screen brightness is set to static value of 7%. Rest of the time in is in Auto. My BT is set to turn off automatically if no devices are connected and my Wifi turns off automatically if no known network have been seen around for a while.
All my messaging app, or apps I want to receive notifications from are running from start without any battery restriction.
Battery saver is set to turn on everyday past 9PM to 7AM, and phone powers off at 11PM every day.
However MIUI optimization is turned down completely. It was giving me too many errors upon xapk installations and I am still to see any benefits from running it. At least I have no battery gain from having it on or off.
Ah oh yeah I am on stock A9 and not willing to go to A10 either stock or custom, at the moment I do not consider it stable enough. I just wish there would be someone willing to port LOS 16... (A9).
I know the phone would do 2 days easy without those, but it is more of me willing to be energy efficient, even if that's only for 3-5 extra battery % in the end, that's exactly those extra % you need when you have to make that call when you are bellow 15%
Great phone.
Hope this helps.

That is really great stanby time. Reminds me of times when phones would last weeks on a charge....could be a challenge for the MG8P ^^
I will try to max out this light usage with some settings of my own. I don't blive dark mode will make any difference because MG8P has LCD panel however it's easier on the eyes and it's easier for me to read.
I turned off all animations, install lite version of some apps and see what happens on my next charge
^^
Screen shot below.
Dark mode will have an effect on battery, it may by minor however. I have it on dark mode and agree, it is easier on the eye.
My current battery stats from noon yesterday. My usage on dark mode and without animations was inconsistent however I will return to it and see how it works
A day off the battery for me I hope I can go three days
Made it to 10 hours of screen on time
And 2 days of battery damn this phone's battery i
S amazing

If you have a new device it will improve a bit. I charge my phone 2-3 a week Most i got was about 4 days with 10 SOT ^^
Going on Day 4
47% left. Light use due to lack of case.
About 2 days
