Yes, yes, it's possible to love a phone. Heck, you sleep next to it, don't you? Rate this thread to indicate your love for the Meizu Pro 7, all things considered. A higher rating indicates that the Meizu Pro 7 is an incredible phone that you enjoy tremendously. You love it.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
The model I have is the Meizu Pro 7 Plus... It's pretty lovable. I bought it a day after it's launch, in Shenzhen. I haven't actually spent time analysing the mobile but I'll make that my goal during the coming week. So far, I'd give it an 8/10.
Great mobile but a few limitations meaning that third-party launchers are needed. I'll go into detail later.
I confirm: an amazing device...
Solid phone with good performance. Easy to gain root access. Great innovation with dual screen. But the functional implementation can be better.
Camera also need a lot of software improvement. Especially in term of bokeh simulation. They shoukd learn from huawei

Root permissions/access is under "Fingerprint & Security" setting. See screenshot
Btw, am using chinese firmware as well, no problem at all. It can be easily debloated. And google installer is avail on flyme app store.
You need to gain root access first though, before installing google

thanks for answering so quickly, I followed your advice but still no access to google play store although I got root.
I tried to get some of the Apps shown in your Screenshot but only installed App Ops and when opening it the Shizuku Manager is not available also most of the others I can't get except AdAway but that seems to be a advertising blocker.
Since I am new in that Forum, I don't know if that's the right area to look for help, anyway I need it

That list is not for you to follow, LoL, that just to show you that root access can be achieved easily
For google play, you need Google Installer from the Meizu/flyme app store, the one which already in your phone
See my screenshot. Download the app, and press GO. Dont forget to allow root access for that app

Hi, you wouldn't believe exactly in the same moment when your replay reached me I could solve my problem.
To let you know how :laugh::laugh:
In the flyme app store I had to search for "Google installer" in Chinese letters "谷歌安装程序" not in English. Many other things I found in english but not the Installer.
Thank you for your kind help....

how is the 2nd screen? does it work with whatsapp notifications?
Pretty much like the phone, but international customer service could do a lot better !
an English/German user manual would be fine
a great mobile, after the Honor 6 and meizu pro 5, this one is much better than the 2 cities, everything is not perfect but it gets closer.
any idea if this device will get android oreo?

Just in case someone messes up their Rom (like me), here is how you flash the original:
Download the newest version from here
You now have the update.zip, now connect your Meizu with your PC
Copy the update.zip to the main folder (internal) of your Meizu
Optional: you might want to do a factory reset, otherwise your gonna flash over your old install. To do a factory reset, go to settings -> about phone -> memory/storage
Reboot and press Vol+ & Power at the same time.
Choose System upgrade and press Start
Wait for it to install, you're done!
In case you're wondering how i messed it up:
i rooted and uninstalled some apps that i thought were not necessary. I somehow managed to mess up the Dialer and a few other things So be careful, you might break something by uninstalling random system apps.
A normal factory reset will not save you, i tried! The uninstalled apps are gone, you have to re-flash the rom.

Me too!
I now have this phone,I really like it.
But the firmware is very buggy,I hope a fw update is soon.
Notifications seem to stop once an app is not used for a while, for example if you open up Outlook to check your emails it will notify you once you get a new email, the LED notification light will flash, but if you leave it for about 12 hours then it will not notify you of any new emails, even the notification bar will not show your email.
Same with Facebook and Skype.
The phone is very light and I really like Flyme .
Also another thing I found is that scrolling up and down on a webpage is sluggush and slow, just like an Apple phone.
I have owned 3 other Meizu model phones and they all had lightening fast scrolling.
Hi i'm waiting for m2 note,it will arrive next week for sure ..someone tested xposed ?

Have you tried installing other launchers on the phone (Nova Launcher, Google Now Launcher etc)??? PLease also try and put widgets using the custom launcher and see if it works.. I've found out that the Lenovo K3 Note does not accept widgets using custom launchers.. some users have also reported those launcher crashing

Do you know if there is the possibility to flash an international firmware version?

International version (I) only for international Meizus.
Universal version (A) You can install on both, International and chinesse Meizus. It is the version that is updated more frequently.
Chinesse version (U, C). From chinesse operators.
Have a good day.
And how can I know if the device is international or chinese one?
Only thing I know at moment is the firmware version (4.5A) and the origin (China web shop)
On the 4.5A there is a huge amount of chinese stuff, like google voice and many labels and guide text.
These features were not translated selecting Italian language.. Any solution?
Also, is there a repository to look for the international firmware version and is there some tool to flash it?

About voices, i need to download "google sintesi vocale" first from Google play, after that i install an app from a Htcmania forum menber @Indignao and follow instrucctions.
This is the link "http://www.htcmania.com/showpost.php?p=15931169&postcount=1"

I think your version its like mine, you cant install International. I bought mine on china web shop too. Dont try to intall (I) firmware, follow with (A), its ok.
You can uninstall easilly all apps that remains on chinesse. There some features not translated to Spanish too.
Take a look on Spanish forums: Movilesdualsim and Htcmania. Theres lot of information about, some guides too.
I got my Meizu m2 note the other day. Living in Sweden. I'm happy about the phone overall, but one thing that bothers me is that you need to use the "security" app once in a while. Why? If I turn off the security app functions, the phone gets really slow after a while, app drawer lags, etc. Why do we need to use a security app when stock android remains fast even without it?
I really don't want this security app to kill applications etc, apps are not meant to be killed. This is a stupid feature of the phone and it seems I have to live with it, otherwise the phone gets sloooooow.
I can't wait to get it. I bought meizu phone,it's very good

Just received my Meizu M2 Note last week. One of the best phones I've used. Moving from a Moto x 2013, and definitely liking the upgrade so far. The system seems snappy and there was an OS update waiting for download out of the box. Using with a single Nano SIM and a 32GB Micro SD. The camera is absolutely fantastic, too. Totally smokes the Moto X's (and the Moto's OV sensor is brilliant).
FYI, if you install Google Play using the 'Google Play Installer' from the Meizu App Center you need to over write the Google Play Services with a 64bit version. You have to do this manually with a '448' version. You then need to disable auto updates from within the Meizu App Center otherwise it will overwrite this 64bit version with the previous incorrect version.
So, yeah, really happy so far

One other thing. If you want to keep my business you better do a much better job supplying an official method of unlocking the boot loader.
The hoops I had to jump through to get the bootloader unlocked were ridiculous. I WILL NOT buy another one of your phones if I cannot easily unlock the bootloder.
I like your phones but wont go through that again.
An easily unlockable bootloader is a must, and I also think EMUI should not try to copy iOS too much, but rather stick closer to AOSP's look and feel.
You're right, huawei makes some great hardware in contrast to software. I was going to get a pixel, but now I am confused if it's worth it since the price is way higher than I expected. I think I'll get a 6p

Idiotic post, really. So what pre-installed apps are not for "cheap basterds"? Is the email app ok? Music player ok? Because all these can be bought for a few bucks.
What would be the difference between pre-installing these apps and pre-installing a decent file manager?
I tried out this guide for Marshmallow to get Google Assistant on my phone, but it looks like something's changed signature-wise in Nougat, because I get this error when I try to install the modded APK:

I can't find a way to get around that, and I'm hoping maybe there's another method to get Google Assistant on my phone without root.
I have the H918, so I can root, but I'm going to be busy with school for the next few weeks, so I don't really want to wipe and risk bricking because I have to rush the process.

The thread I was following indicates otherwise. I was looking for some troubleshooting possibilities or an explanation, not a deprecation of what I enjoy using.
Well, let me put it this way.... no.
The only way I know to get it is to edit the build.prop to spoof a Pixel. That, of course, requires root. It'll also break things that are LG dependent.
In the XDA newsfeed, there have been reports that some phones are not behaving well with the mod. Those same feeds report most of what you can achieve with Assistant can be done with Google Now and Allo. I can understand someone's desire to go for those things that can't be done with either Now or Allo.
For me, it doesn't yet pass the cost/benefit test. I'm keeping an eye on things, hoping a dev can incorporate Assistant within the stock ROM without losing the LG stuff. Maybe then I'll step up to the plate.

Well I know it's possible to do. hsbadr made Google Assistant the default on CM14.1 for the Note 4, without build.prop edits. It's also possible with the Xposed module (so once we get Xposed on Nougat, it'll be simple). It's also apparently possible with the guide I've been trying to follow, but it looks like that needs root too on Nougat for some reason.

Can't do that. The hack says to copy the META-INF folder from the old APK into the new one. Resigning just gives me the different signature error.

Thanks for taking the time
(I've reached my thanks limit apparently...)
Yes it's possible to add google assistant without root to LG V20.
https://beebom.com/how-enable-google-assistant-any-android-no-root/
or

By now I read that google assistant is only available in USA and Germany.

Hey I have a noob question - what's the point of this thread when this section is about questions?

Hi
The Q/A section is for questions, sure! But newbies create individual threads for asking noob questions. Is it not better to create one single thread where noob questions can be posted? Also, every thread created by a newbie doesn't always get answered, creating garbage in the Q/A section. In such cases, I've seen some members creating duplicate threads with the same question but a different thread name. Thought it would be better to create a place where they can at least have hopes to get answers.

Well I'll post here for the meantime, hopefully someone answers so i don't have to create a new thread.
Does the S8/S8+have replaceable/removable batteries?
Pull the battery, put in another. So on, so forth.
Monty informed me that all is well on the property
Thanks in advance.

No, not removable. Unless you unassembled the phone...

Samsung hasn't done removable batteries since the S6... and considering all the major manufacturers have made the decision to go the sealed batter route, at least on the high-end market, I don't see removable batteries coming back. :/
It's not AS bad if you plan on changing your phone every 1-2 years, BUT for those who keep their phones for 3+ years, it's a concern. However, most people seem to be on that 1-2 replacement cycle, so manufacturers go with the majority, vs the small subset of people who keep their phones for an extended period.
OK so I've had all the nexus phones since the GNex (except the 5X) and have been happily rooted and flashing ROMS, but I'm a noob as far as recent Samsung's go.
Today I impulse ordered a UK Snapdragon S8 (The device is EPIC in hand)..... What's the likelihood of root & custom roms happening? this could honestly make or break me taking delivery of the device
I presume this isn't multiuser, unless Samsung have changed approach. How do we make it so?
Good evening all,
I'm really excited about getting the S8 plus in a few weeks!! but I have a question, as I have had my brain numbed by the one for all iOS I have lost all knowledge of android and apps that are a must.
with my older android handsets i always had a file manager app that I can't remember what I used for but just know it was one first apps i installed. Anyone got and must haves for the latest android OS?
Running

You can download kidsmode, which can set the phone into limited access environment for children. Also you can use Knox or use secure folder to set separate account with restricted access. But in personal device like a phone, most people carry in their pocket I don't see much demand for full multiuser setup similar to one on PC.

Phone comes preloaded with Facebook, Youtube and a whole Google set of apps. There are few file managers in Play store like ES file manager or Total Commander, but that's a personal preference. You may want to have something for backup, like Titanium, or PhoneInfo for information or 3C Toolbox for details on hardware settings etc. But IMO there is no must have APP, it all depends on your particular use and interest.
Bump
Sent from my Motorola XT1080 using XDA Labs
How waterproof can it be?
It is there any method to clean the ports of the phone after sea water and sand?
Stupid questions?
Never used Android (iPhone users since day one).
Really want to move to Android while my friend wants to move to iPhone. So we can trade our phones.
She has S8 with T-Mobile (the phone is unlocked because she purchased it) and I have 7plus with Verizon.
She is willing to move to Verizon so my phone is perfect for her.
I read that her S8 can be flashed so it would work on Verizon.
Questions:
1) where can I obtain steps by steps to this procedure?
2) Functionally, is there anything Negative of flashing a TMobile to Verizon? One of my co-worker stated that you can't auto upgrade on the phone firmware down the road and there are glitches.
3) Is this the same as ROOT?
Thank you for your expertise.
After accepting the July security update from Tmobile, long pressing my home key no longer launches Google Assistant, Just Brings up Google Now. What gives?
Shutter Sound on the Unlocked Version of the Galaxy S8
Hi everyone. Noob to this forum and this is my first post.
My question is regarding the shutter sound on the camera. I have the US unlocked version of the phone (not carrier unlocked). I've made tinkers to it already (disabling permissions, etc.). But I noticed the option to turn off the camera's shutter sound is missing. Not sure if this is due to me tinkering or if the option is not even available on the unlocked version.
I went to Verizon today to play with their version, and it has the option to disable the sound.
Can anyone confirm that the stock unlocked version of the S8 indeed doesn't come with the option to turn off the shutter sound? I was going to do a hard reset to see if maybe I discabled something by accident, but would rather not go through the hassle of reconfiguring my device all over again.
Thanks in advance!
hi guys... i am really confused which phone to get. confused btw oneplus5 and S8. can you guys give your opinion on the S8 so it helps me to choose?
the only thing oneplus5 has better for me is the battery life and dual camera. how is the battery life for s8? how much screen on time are you getting with heavy usage?
Hello every one.
I own a french Galaxy S8 bought with SFR (a french carrier).
After certains phone calls (Voice mail, Customer Services) and if the other person hangs up ok google is not reconized anymore.
I tried to flash other firmware, reset the phone, unistall google, clear google data but that's not helping at all.
The only fix is to kill google app via the setting but it's stop working as soon you do a "bad" phone call.
My girlfriend's S7 have the same problem...
The only solution I found is to install newer versions that i can't find in the playstore of google app, play store and google play services taken form apkmirror. The issue is still here but I have to do more calls to trigger it. Strange fact but the last beta of the google app works worse than the previous (behave like the play store version).
I thought turning off the wifi will help because my S8 and my girlfriend S7 have this in common but it doesn't help.
I'm very perfectionist so i had search this issue from weeks but no solition found.
Sorry for my english, I'm French.
Any ideas ?
Have a nice day.
Acess root
I have a stupid and nobbie question: How to root the s8+? I dont want to install any roms, i need only to use titanium backup and sixaxis controller.

Follow this guide here for steps to flash TWRP first. Follow it EXACTLY step by step and you will have no issues.
After TWRP is fully flashed correctly amd you can boot into TWRP then flash magisk v13.3 from here
https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445
Again, follow all steps EXACTLY as they are posted and you should have no issues
As the title states I setup brevent on my phone I was able to remove the lockscreen ads by 'breventing' the "Amazon Offers" system app.
One should also note the brevent takes some effort to start (needs a computer) but it stays on as long as you don't restart your phone.
Instructions:
You will have to go to settings and enable "show all apps"
Lock your phone, swipe away the ad, and voilia. no more ads.
There is a possibility that it may suck your battery... or it may improve it... I'll follow up after a few days
It is a shame that people update their phones before checking to see if they should or not. If you want to root or flash a phone, NEVER update it before researching what the updates do.

Yea but mistakes happen at times. I bought my blu to be a temp phone until the OnePlus 5 came out... Didn't expect the ads to be so annoying...

Good news, the battery life is about the same. And maybe it's just my imagination but the phone seems slightly snappier.
For those of us who messed up and updated. This seems like the best option this far.
PS. If it works for you, you should probably donate to the developers of brevent (I am in no way affiliated to them but this has been a lifesaver for me)

Debloater might be a simpler solution. I have not tested this one but a similar app , that I can't find the page for ,
