My G6 keeps removing apps from the recent list, If I open the recent app it shows 3-5 apps only, the rest are gone. which means if I open another app it would open from scratch, with 4Gb of RAM shouldn't keep more app on recent? Did I set something the wrong way?
Thanks for our replies.

Haven't even activated developer settings, that's why this is really weird for me.
Do you mean old apps disappear immediately after opening more than 5 apps or you mean it disappears after one day or so? The latter is normal and if you want to keep some apps permanently in the recent app tabs, you can pin them in the upper right of the thumbnail, just along the delete icon.

Sorry for the late reply, but yeah I noticed that every morning my recent apps is clear, and at the end of the day is full, it's weird my old G4 don't do this nor my old faithful nexus 7 but I guess this is a Nougat thing?

i'm new to android. on IOS there is a cydia app called "backgrounder". i loved it because it let me redefine multitasking rules for certain programs. for example, for most programs, i made it so that the OS kills the program anytime i exit using the home button. now is there such a program for android that would let em do this? i don't want to have to manually kill app everytime, i want to make the OS do it by itself for the programs i specify.
google searches say no, but i'm still optimistic so if anyone knows, please reply.
Android does a great job of managing running applications, there is no need to kill them. If you do the app will just have to reload your battery life would go down. Also the nexus 4 has 2gb of ram. That will easily handle multitasking

I have a question. Why? This isn't an iPhone. You have 2 GB RAM. Let the OS do it's thing. If you're really worried about it, use an app like Auto Memory Manager to make the OS more agressive.
Ordered my Nexus 4 on the 13th. Still waiting.

not all apps in background are inactive though, some are actively running in the background and using resources/wasting battery life. i should not be worried about this?
You can do it straight on the phone under the development options in settings. You have to go into settings first and then phone info and tap on the build number until the tells you that you're a developer now. Then go into developer options and scroll down to apps. From there you can set it to do what you want.

Using more ram doesn't drain battery. Most multitasked apps that aren't services don't even waste battery since they are put into hibernate

Sent from my SGH-I337M using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I haven't seen that before. But they are different versions so it's possible. I'd freeze the older version and see if you run into problems
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
that is *kind-of* normal.
All pre-installed apps are installed in "system/apps" folder and cannot be removed unless rooted. Then all updates are stored in the "data/apps" folder along with all user installed apps. This is done so normal users "not-rooted" can delete all their installed apps and updates to get back "stock".
Most apps that list your installed apps, like titanium backup, or the "system settings > applications" normally take this into account and only show you one version. What-ever crap program you took a screenshot of, obviously does not take that into account and is confusing you. I see "safe2remove" beside many of the items in that screenshot, I do not recogize that application you are using. Just some garbage app as far as I am concerned now.
do not freeze either version
I'm looking at system cleanup
Sent from my SGH-I337M using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
You can delete the older version, but you have to remove the app manually or you'll need to reinstall. Look at the YouTube app in the attached pics. Also, system cleanup is a great app.

Looks like a bunch of Moto apps got updated in the Play Store today...
Moto 3.0.49
Moto Actions 1.11.33
Motorola Boot Services 4.0.0
Motorola Camera 5.0.47.7
Motorola FM Radio 02.00.0045
Motorola Gallery 520012
Handful of new permissions too... Didn't keep track as they went by, just approved them all.
Haven't really noticed any difference yet, probably just bug fixes, but it's only been a little bit.

Sometimes the Play Store gets bugged and doesn't notify you of updates right away then weeks later they all show up at once.
Hey guys I actually noticed something.
The playstore updates of these apps removed the moto option from settings.
Running factory image.

New Moto Camera update broke the camera on my XT1550.. using it with dpi modded to 280. Front camera / video recording buttons are out of place, which means tapping them takes a picture. Uninstalled and reverted to original version.

What exactly does that matter? I just checked and it still shows up on the apps menu which is probably the only place it should be anyway.

I noticed that too...wondered why they had been removed. I thought I screwed something up in flashing and rooting. Thanks for the heads-up!

Same here lol flashed a few different roms and then went back to stock just to see. Kinda stinks because I like to use nova to hide any apps that can affect system wide functions so when it was in settings it had a nice home.

Hello I have a weird situation that I haven't found a fix yet. I work and travel on the road and switch between navigation apps when selecting a destination through the calendar app with my appointments etc. It sets the first navigation app I choose as the default. On every phone I have ever had I could have those apps and pick at will which one I needed on the fly without a default one.

Make sure to choose that app as open with for your apps, it will pop up with a screen like older versions of android every time after.

Hi guys
Just installed the MM update for my Note 4. Didn't notice any difference at first, then discovered that Allcast no longer streams to my Xbox DLNA, and also now in the gallery whenever you click on a video it gives you the choice of apps to open it with ONCE then automatically sets that as the default, so if I want to open a video in a different player I now have to go into app manager and clear the defaults. Then I can open with the app I want. But that gets set as default too so it never ends.
This is really REALLY annoying.
Please does anyone know of a fix around this?
Many thanks.

Indeed a very annoying update all around!
No fix, but an app called 'Better open with'.

+1 for this, been using it for years: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.aboutmycode.betteropenwith
Basically you set it as the default app for opening a particular file type or link, and then within this app you can choose which other apps are allowed to open said files or links. You can also have a countdown to open with a default choice, giving you a few seconds to choose an alternative.
Been meaning to ask this since I upgraded to MM, always thought that this was a stupid MM feature, but now I see this is a bug right?
Thanks to that app anyway, don't like unnecessary apps, but still better than annoyance caused by waste of time.
It's not a bug, it's a further stupidity from Samsung. You can find this so called feature nobody wants on other devices as well (Note 5 and S7).
Thanks guys. Will try that app out.
This is without doubt the worst software update yet, so much to complain about!
