I'm on Ting in the US(uses T-Mobile networks) and was wondering if wifi calling would work.
There's this article on their website (https://help.ting.com/hc/en-us/articles/205421918-FAQ-Wi-Fi-Calling-on-GSM-Devices) that has instructions connected to it on how to enable it but would like confirmation that these menus even exist on the OP5, cause my current phone doesn't have the option unless you search it(even then it does nothing when tapped).
This isn't an urgent thing but WiFi calling would be nice to have, I don't get the best reception in my area with any carrier.
It seems like that your phone carrier is not be supported WiFi LTE
I'm on mint sim, a t mobile mvno and volte and vowifi work for me. Note the status bar showing both working.

Thanks, I was more or less looking to see a menu option for it, because I know Ting supports it.
BTW you could try an app like System UI Tuner by Zachary Wander to disable more icons than than the normal UI Tuner allows. It just requires a few ADB commands if you not rooted. I believe it supports removing VoLTE and VoWiFi icons.

Thanks, my status bar is just how I like it? And I'm not 100% sure if system ui tuner was giving me constant system ui crashes whenever I got below 15% battery.. It's happened on all 3 phones I installed system ui tuner on.. So I stopped installing it lol.
I had an att mvno that did not support vowifi/lte previously, and when I did, that menu option in my screenshot would not appear.. So should you get your op5 and those menu options not appear under sim and network settings, you'll know it's not supported .

Does Oxygen support the data arrows on the WIFI and Wireless Icons in the notification area?
My OPO had these and I am sure they were working on the OP2, but I have installed the Yitax icon pack and they are not working. I have tried going back to defaults and still no luck...
Really useful having these arrows to tell which data service is in use. BTW they work on the quick settings pull-down.
Same issue.
Does anybody have any idea?
it's the problem of oxygen os
if you really want that then you can use xposed modules for that

Hello,
As you may know, Android 6 has a hidden feature, called System UI Tuner. This can be enabled by long-pressing the Settings icon in the top-right corner of the notifications bar. Once enabled, a new section appears in Settings, called "System UI Tuner". I think Developer mode must be enabled too for this to work, and animations must be on.
But on the S7 Edge, this doesn't seem to work. Tried to long-press that icon, and nothing. Animations are on, developer mode is enabled.
Did anyone succeed in enabling this ?
Thanks !

Really ? How can I remove icons from the status bar, like the Bluetooth icon even when it is enabled, for example, and have more room for notification icons ?

System UI Tuner isn't available on Touchwiz. Samsung removed it. However, I'm guessing most of you upgraded to Android Nougat, but for those of you who haven't should get this app called Good Lock.
Good Lock is an app made by Samsung that actually replaces the System UI on your phone, and will make it almost stock Android. I sure you still won't find System UI Tuner by holding the Settings button, but I sure that there is a setting in the Good Lock Settings menu to do so. My thought is that the Good Lock Settings Menu is their version of System UI Tuner.
You can find Good Lock in the Galaxy Store, but if it is not there for whatever reason, then just sideload it from this link here.
(apkmirror.com/apk/samsung-electronics-co-ltd/good-lock/good-lock-24-0-16-release/good-lock-24-0-16-android-apk-download)
--enter the link without the brackets, xda won't allow me to post links until I have made 10 posts--
I'm not sure if this will work in Nougat, as in the website it said that the minimum version of Android is Marshmallow, and the maximum version of Android is Marshmallow.
If you are willing to take the risk, try it and let us know if it will work.
Hope I helped!
It is pretty much impossible
You can't enable it Samsung and other companies have disabled it in manufacturing
How to enable system UI tuner in Samsung j5 prime
Go here and try it. I did get it working on my s7 edge non rooted but I recently had to do a factory reset and I can't get it to work. https://www.recovery-android.com/tips/access-system-ui-tuner-s7.html
i think this would be a better decision as it wouldnt require a computer.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zacharee1.systemuituner
simply enable with adb once and you can tweak your phone anywhere without having to use a computer

This is still only possible with Root, correct?
Been looking around all afternoon, and seems like there was something called System Tuner UI, but was removed on Samsung S7 devices (probably all Sammy phones).
p.s.
I have a AT&T S7 Edge, but I doubt that will affect the answer(s)
Nova will do it.

Yeah Xposed requires root
There is an app called Notify Box that I have been using. It groups selected status bar notifications together and puts them in one drop down box that you can then delete or view. It seems to work pretty well.
Just found this in an LG group, "adb shell settings put secure icon_blacklist alarm_clock,bluetooth,mobile" etc. No root required, just a working adb setup and developer options.
Partial list is;
cast
hotspot
bluetooth
zen (do not distrub icon)
alarm_clock (alarm icon)
managed_profile (work profile icon)
wifi
ethernet
mobile (mobile data icon)
airplane
nfc
I'm still looking for the name of the download booster icon

This worked great. I did
Code:
adb shell settings put secure icon_blacklist alarm_clock,nfc,bluetooth
Unfortunately the NFC icon stayed but the alarm clock and bluetooth are gone so anything is a huge improvement. Now I just need to figure out the names for the volte and rcs icons from rooting. I tried
Code:
adb shell settings put secure icon_blacklist alarm_clock,nfc,bluetooth,volte,rcs
but neither went away. Either way thank you.
Hi, I tried that with alarm_clock but unfortunately I got an white square icon stead :silly:
This worked for me to disable the Alarm and Bluetooth icons. Thanks for the share!

Not sure if you figured this out already but the white rectangle icon that appears is actually the "rotate" so add that to your list
nfc for us on Samsung is nfc_on
You can disable the battery icon but still have "show percentage" on in settings so no icon but still charge percentage.
I've been adding and removing frequently but here is my current disable list
Code:
adb shell settings put secure icon_blacklist bluetooth,alarm_clock,rotate,battery,location,nfc_on
Hello,
Were you able to figure out the name of the Data boost icon? I like to have that turned on, I just cant stand seeing the icon.
Thanks,
Z

Hey y'all, I feel like this is such a meme, but does anyone know how to enable the VoLTE icon to show up?
I've made all the CSC tweaks about VoLTE and Icon in /system/omc/XEU, I do get VoLTE in my network settings, but the icon doesn't show up.
Is there some kernel/build prop/csc tweak needed?
I tried a custom kernel once and it showed up - but surely that isn't required?
I'm on Pie, HadesRom (but happened on stock anyway), on XEU/XEU/O2U, SM-G950F.
Thank you!

Yeah, I'm on O2 here and it supports VoLTE - since the icon showed up before on stock with a custom kernel.

Three and O2 are two UK carriers that doesn't have the VOLTE icon showing in the statusbar. So it's not suppose to be showing. WiFi calling icon shows if you have it activated while on WiFi. I'm currently with Three as my private phone but have the note 9 as a work phone with 02. To try it out just make a phone call, if it stays on 4g, VOLTE is activated.
I'm pretty sure neither VoLTE nor VoWIFI will work in Australia for this device out of the box, particularly for Telstra. Can anyone who bought one confirm?
Is there likely to be a way to get them to work with modifications?
I am quite interested in this phone, but sadly given the reception where I live, lack of VoWIFI support would be a dealbreaker.
You can enable VOLTE and VoWIFI with OnePlus Log Kit app.

Huh. That seems too simple. I had heard that Telstra in particular had a whitelist for which devices could access VoLTE on their network. Is that not the case?

Hm. Well I might see if I can find anyone in Aus that's bought one before I rush to shell out that amount of money. Thanks for the input tho!
FWIW - i'll be trying as soon as mine arrives and gets setup.
unit should arrive today :fingerscrossed: , then charge, setup, and i'll try this VoLTE (and yes i'm on Telstra too).
What'll be interesting is whether 5G just works as is or whether I have to request it to be added/enabled on my Telstra plan?
@StelardActek - sooo followed the guide that's in above link. Fairly straight forward and then gives you the 2 toggle switches in your sim card settings... Can toggle both VoLTE & VoWiFi BUT icons don't change, so I don't actually know if it's working or just a toggle for the sake of having a toggle.

When you say icons, do you mean the status icons? Or do you mean the HD icon doesn't come up when making a call? AFAIK that's the only way to know if you're actually on VoLTE. Also VoWIFI will cut your call over to wifi a few seconds after connecting, if you're on wifi.

Yea I mean the status icon - I thought there was a 4G & VoLTE icon but I'm probably wrong.
A few quick tests -
Made call Wifi On - Dialer has HD icon on screen
Status bar icon stays the same - no indication of 4G/3G/H+ etc. , just the triangle bars
Minimised dialler - launched browser, did speedtest - get 94.12Mbps........
Hang up, status bar icon stays the same - no indication of 4G/3G/H+ etc. , just the triangle bars
Made call Wifi Off - Dialer has HD icon on screen
Status bar icon goes from 4G+ before dialling, to 3G during dialling, to H+ when call is connected..
Minimised dialler - launched browser, did speedtest - get 4.21Mbps........
Hang up, goes status bar icon goes from H+ back to 4G+
Not entirely sure what that all means now..

Just tried that - in the dialer app, a prompt comes up - "To Place a call, first turn off flight mode"
Does it not say vowifi on status bar when wifi is on or Volte when wifi is off and data is on?
@nathlynn22 @happiboi AFAIK, if it says HD during a call you're on VoLTE. And if you're connect to wifi with VoWIFI enabled then a few seconds into a call it should swap over to using that instead of the LTE network. I forget what it says exactly but it does say something in text on the call screen that makes it explicit that it's using wifi for the call.

Cheers mate! Even now I'm getting the HD on dialler screen but no VOLTE & VoWiFI on the status bar.
My call quality has been exceptionally good and very crisp and clear.
I spoke with Telstra network team this arvo and they said OnePlus 8 is on their whitelist and is VOLTE compatible even they helped me diagnose the settings.
