Chromecast Netflix Issues - LG V20 Questions & Answers

Using the vs995 I'm able to cast Netflix to my second generation chromecast just fine. The issue is when the phone screen turns off. Netflix completely disconnects from the chromecast after about 2 minutes of the phone being idle and chromecast reverts to the home screen.
I've tried ignoring battery optimizations on any app related to wifi, Netflix, and chromecast and have had no luck. My wifi is set to always on and I even downloaded an app to make sure it is always on. It's also definitely an issue with the phone and not the router.
Any ideas on how to fix this?

Wifi sucks on the KF

Hi, something that is happening to me since day one and with all the roms i tried. Basically, i can´t transfer from my pc or download from the internet any file that is more than a few MB. Every time i try to do it, the connection is lost before completing the transfer. Does anyone have the same problem? It really sucks as i don´t have a micro-usb cable always with me.
Never had that problem, use multiple access points at the house (3) and have used my unit at work (9 access points throughout the building), family member homes, client homes/businesses ... as well as my 4G hotspot.
I don't use open unsecure access points so I can't speak for them, but everything else works fine.
I have two Kindle Fires.
WiFi works fine on both of them.
I have had no such problem as you have.

Works for me, last eve I d/l'ed a rom, took about 20 mins, but it finished fine..
Kindle's wifi is really good for me...it even works in my third Bedroom with doors closed, where few of my other devices find it hard to acquire...try checking ur modem settings...might help!
I have a sneaking suspicion that the stock ROM disables WiFi when the screen is off, or something similar.
Stock 6.2.2 rooted, was streaming music off of Grooveshark. Screen on, no problem. Screen off, after about 30 seconds the music stopped. I've also heard people complain Gmail won't sync in the background on the stock ROM, but I have found that isn't the case. It just won't sync in the background with the screen off
I am switching between Stock and the ICS port, and this eliminates the streaming problem (for me, YMMV of course).
My wifi sucks too. It was fine when i first got it but now it just constantly turns off and on. Every other device i have on my router works fine. Very frustrating. I'm tempted take my kindle back but i didn't get the warranty

You are correct, stock rom has wifi set to sleep with screen off. ''Wifi keep alive'' on the android market will fix that tho.
Worth a try but no guarantee.
Search for "wifi keep alive" in Android Market. Set your KF to "always on".
Other than WiFi shutting off with screen, the only other thing I've noticed is that the Fire doesn't seem to roam smoothly between APs.
When I'm using MSTSC to control my work PC, walking any distance always causes it to disconnect. Luckily, it only takes a couple seconds to reconnect. But, I imagine it'd cause a file copy to abort.
I have not had any issues transferring 1gb videos to my Kindle via Dropbox. Used to have this issue with My phone but then installed Juice Defender and enabled connectivity when screen is off for apps like, dropbox or Google music. worked like a charm, otherwise very happy with my Kindles wifi.

S7 Edge stops music streaming after screen locks

Hi, I have S7 Edge, I'm trying to stream music with internet radio app but it's stop streaming after 2-5 minutes when screen is locked.
I tried many internet radio apps but it happens with all kind of apps, so I think it's a phone issue.
P.S: I tired to play with power saving options in phone settings but it doesn't help.
So I asking if someone have the same issue, or maybe someone knows how to fix it?
Thanks!
Are you connected through mobile data or wifi?
And the same happens on both connections?
On both connections happens the same.
I stream music through soundcloud and it works fine on both. Did you enable restricted background data ?
Yes it's enabled, but it happens on Wifi also, so I don't think it's related to restricted background data.
I can try to disable/turn it off if you think it can help.

Go to settings, battery, app power saving and select energy saving disabled for your radio app (menu items translated from Italian, may be different in English).
As I wrote already did it, it doesn't helps, still it stops streaming
On Wifi, started my Xiialive Pro radio app, selected a station, turned screen off and waited more than 5 minutes: no stop in audio streaming.
Anyway, I use only screen off on S7E, no screen lock enabled, general battery saving plan disabled, Exynos model.
Ok, I think that I found what causes this problem, I have Greenify app, i disabled the auto sleep mode in app settings and now it's working I think.
The point is that radio apps wasn't in greenify hibernation list, but still they was affected by Greenify auto sleep mode. Interesting.
App manager, permissions, more and allow app to not lock the screen
Try to stream via SoundCloud. It should work fine

S8 casting to TV via wifi gets interrupted

Hey guys, I have an issue , of course, with the S8.
I am playing movies to my Samsung smart TV (casting them from my phone I mean) and from time to time this message appears on my TV screen: " Please check your network connection". And then it gets interrupted. And I have to cast it again. Never happened with my S7 on the same wifi network and same TV.
Detail: when I look at the phone screen, the wifi icon is gone and in a few seconds it says: "Connected to wifi network".
What do you guys think? Any idea?
Thanks!
I have a similar issue with streaming to my Audi MMI system music over WiFi, which is basically same as what you do to your TV. I believe that Battery optimization is killing the background process, and thats why you loose connection. Go to Settings, Apps, click on top right corner and chose : special services, than battery optimization. From the drop menu chose All apps, and make sure that anything, related to streaming, casting is switched off (exluded from optimization). Also make sure that you have under connections, WiFi, top right corner: advanced, make sure you have a tick on Keep WiFi on durring sleep.
Thanks man, I have the WiFi during sleep on...but from all those apps...I admit I am not sure which ones are to be switched off for optimization. Does your issue happen at certain exact times? Or just whenever it pleases?
Did it for Samsung Connect. Now I just hope it wont eat up my battery )
It was happening while playback, in the middle of the songs. I found about the battery optimization today, so hasn't manage to try if its resolved already.

Firestick not recognizing Fubo TV stream, goes to Screensaver, sleep mode

It's been happening since yesterday. So every time I watch Fubo using the Firestick, it goes to screensaver after 5 minutes. Then I set the screensaver to "never". But beyond that, it will go to sleep mode as if nothing is happening on the screen. Is it Fubo TV's problem or Amazon's? Because I had no problem with other apps such as Watch ESPN and Netflix.

Wifi goes bad after streaming video for a moderate peiod.

After I stream video for a moderate amount of time (~60-90 minutes) I get an exclamation mark next to the icon in the status bar and the only thing that fixes it is resetting my router.
Disabling and reenabling Wifi via settings doesn't fix it. Rebooting the phone doesn't fix it. Only restarting my router resolves the issue.
Obviously, this is very inconvenient and impractical if I'm away from home or other devices are using the connection.
Has anyone else experienced this and if so have you found a fix?
Also, I should note that basic internet use doesn't trigger this error as I can go days without the problem if I don't stream a long enough video. It seems to be specific to streaming video for certain periods of time.
Bump.
