Stuck in LTE cannot make voice calls - Moto G5 Plus Questions & Answers

Hi guys,
I am with Freedom Mobile - Canadian provider. I've purchased the phone from Amazon, - US version. Connected it yesterday. Worked fine, but had no LTE. I played with some settings and now I ONLY have LTE and cannot make voice calls. Whenever I try to make a voice call phone is trying to connect, but fails in around 30 seconds telling me Network is not available for voice calls.
Was wondering if anyone experienced similar problems.
Additionally, would you mind sharing settings under the below 2 menus, that work for you for Freedom Mobile:
1. Mobile network settings -> "Preferred Network type"
2. In the hidden menu, dial: *#*#4636#*#* under "Phone Information" what is your's "Set Preferred network type" selection?
thank you, I would appreciate your help.

Flash modem from your OS once again. My collegue had similar problem. Tapped something what shouldn't be tapped and disabled 2G, 3G networks. Does Freedom Mobile support VoLTE technology? If not then you will not be able to call via LTE.

Hello there. So i just got a Nokia 6 and i'm having the same issue. Can't make or receive calls but i can send and receive texts and can use the LTE service for data. So i'm supposed to flash what exactly? And any resources i can refer to for the flashing process? P.S: I'm a noob

[N910S] LTE/3G config (other variants are also welcomed)

I'm having trouble with LTE settings using this phone. There are "LTE preffered" and "3G only" settings only, yet I can't get it to connect to LTE without going into secret code.
I'm able to get it to work with "LTE band specific (in my case, it's 8) only" using secret code. Comes the problem when I want to make a call since LTE can't make nor receive any call and need to be dropped to 3G (or H). And since the settings didn't allow the radio to drop to 3G, I can't make any call nor receive any at all. It's leaving me with only 1 choice to change it manually when I need it.
Is there a more convenient way to have the "LTE preffered" work? I want to keep the LTE setting and make it dropped to 3G when I receive or make a call. Thank you.

[Q] Stuck on "EDGE". How can I change the Network under "SIM Status" ?
I'm running Dirty Unicorns 9.8 OFFICIAL (5.1.1) on my Nexus 4. The other day I noticed I had like one or two bars so went into Settings > About phone > Status > SIM Status and clicked "Network". Usually, there are a handful of providers to use there and sometimes changing to a different one improves my reception (This is a T-Mobile phone). I don't remember what I left it on.
Today the phone is stuck on "EDGE" under "Cellular Network Type". I tried to get back in the "Network" to check and see if I left it on something stupid, but I can't get back into the provider selection. No matter what I do, the device won't hook up to "LTE" (whatever HSPA/HSPA+ thing T-mo says is LTE). Everything worked fine last week. Haven't applied any patches or anything other than messing around with the Network settings. Any idea what I might try? Is there a magic dialpad entry to use to reset the Network?
Thanks

Same problem here with metro pcs who uses T-mobile
After a few days of this, and several chats and calls to T-Mobile, it seems T-Mobile is "working on towers" in my area and things will be like this for a few days. The situation is this according to the last phone call with T-mobile:
* HSPA+ is no longer available on the towers in my area
* LTE and GSM (Edge) are the only supported modes
* LTE is not supported on the Nexus 4. tuff-shizz. buy a new phone.
Ok well this sucks... so here's what I did in the past couple days.
* Installed Chroma ROM and the the LTEEnable zip file thing floating around all the forums here.
* Found out Chroma was a rebranded AOSP ripoff so uninstalled it.
* flashed Dirty Unicorns 6.0.1 to my Nexus 4, bluetooth seemed funky so flashed the .33 radio from "dmitry" ROM that I found on several threads. Also flashed LTEEnable zip, not sure I needed it. LTE now working.
* dialed *#*#4636#*#* and went into "Phone Info"
* Network Type: "LTE"
* Set Preferred Network Type: LTE/GSM (PRL) -- originally had this set to "LTE only" but no voice calls could go out, or come in.
You would think this is the end of story, but wait. Voice calling takes 20 seconds to connect (even voice mail). With "LTE only" settings all incoming calls go directly to voice mail. never even rings the phone. Are you shizzing me?? With "LTE/GSM (PRL)" the phone waits for 20 seconds to drop from LTE back to "Edge" before the call finally hooks up.
Today, found out nexus 4 doesn't do VOLTE (Voice Over LTE). at least thats what google said. That would explain the Drop to "Edge" when dialing out.
Thing is, I tried this with a NEXUS 5 on my account, using two different sims , running stock Android Whatever on the N5 and it does the EXACT SAME THING. dropping calls to "Edge" before connecting. Takes 20 seconds to dial out. Incoming calls on LTE (which the n5 runs by default) all go to voicemail.
So it seems the workaround now is to dial the "magic number" above and set the "Preferred Network" to "GSM only" (Edge). That's the only way to get phone calls in or out of either device on T-Mobile's network today. Don't bother trying to Google anything though because it won't re-connect to LTE to do it. On either my hacked N4 or the stock ROM N5. You may as well be using a dial-up modem to get any data through either phone.
So, in the end, I don't have anything screwed up under "Network Settings". I'm stuck in "Edge" mode because Tmo is updating towers for LTE. It remains to be seen if I have to upgrade both and N4 and N5 to stay on T-Mobile however. The next few days will tell. I still think this is a bit of a ****-move on T-Mobile's part. Especially if I have to upgrade the N5. It's an expense I wasn't planning on. They could at least kick in some rebate to help out with the cost of new devices. No idea if it would save any money to switch carriers at this point.

not receiving incoming calls...

just got the phone yesterday and updated it to the P beta. everything works amazingly well for a beta in my opinion, BUT i cant receive calls. outgoing calls, texts, web and apps are just fine.
spent almost 2 hours at tmobile flipping all the settings around and no luck. any ideas would be appreciated.
Same issue here bro...Incoming don't ring but I get voicemail notifications.... Really annoying, even if it is a DP.
Turns out the beta doesn't play well with the essential LTE. Switch to 3g and calls will come through. Hopefully it doesn't take long to find a work around for it
I believe the people having this issue have volte enabled...try and disable volte (it's broken anyway and more than likely why calls won't ring through) and see if that works
Got same issue... My experience was that I could solve the problem with reboot.
Issue came after playing on settings for mobile network.
Is meaning, when you do this you have to reboot afterwards otherwise you can't receive calls
Try it.

Tried rebooting multiple times while changing settings around. The only way I can get the calls to come through is by going without LTE completely.

Settings/network settings/mobile network/advanced/enhanced LTE?
I had the same issue and to fix mine I just enabled Wifi Calling.
When on wifi I didn't get a call, just missed call notification. After enabling wifi calling, it comes through without issue.
I tested calling off wifi and on wifi and all calls come through good now.
This could be similar, so you guys might want to look at that also.
Good luck!
Heard from a few that this was solved by going into phone app settings -> calls -> calling accounts, then turning on "receive incoming calls". Seems it's disabled to save battery? Can't confirm as I just flashed to try it out and then went back to 8.1 because I like themes too much. Lol.
I'm on Sprint and was never able to make or receive calls regardless of Network settings in the easily accessible options menu.
The following fixed my issue. You can access this menu without downloading an app but I forget how so it's easier to just download the free app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.xsquarestudio.forcelte
I had my network mode set to LTE/CDMA when first using this app, and somewhere in the middle I changed it to CDMA but I'm not sure how much that impacted the actual fix.
These were my steps. I'm not responsible for any damage this may cause to your device as I'm not sure if messing with these settings is foolproof or not.
First, opened previously linked app "Force LTE" then under "Set Preferred Network Type" I changed to CDMA only. Enabled/disabled airplane mode. This seemed to do nothing as LTE was still showing in statusbar.
I then chose CDMA auto (PRL), airplane mode on/off, didn't seem to do much either. LTE still showed in statusbar and couldn't make calls. Also "Voice Network Type" showed "Emergency Calls only" inside the app.
I then chose the 3 dot menu and chose "select radio band". I changed that to United States, without resolving problem. Then selected "Cellular 800" and this may have solved the problem, but I continued on and selected PCS, fiddled with some settings in Phones settings menu. Was finally able to receive calls and my signal indicator showed 3G. In app Voice Network Type was listed as 1xRtt. I decided to select radio band once more and chose Class 10.
Calls were still functioning fine. So I went into Main settings menu and changed mobile network from CDMA to LTE/CDMA. LTE kicked in and calls still work!
Again, these settings may only work for Sprint hence the PCS Network option, and I believe Sprint may utilize the 800mhz frequency. The app might show you different options depending on your carrier. I don't know.
Anyway, fully functioning! Woohoo!!

I don't have anything in my settings that says "enhanced LTE" .
Tried using the 4g/LTE and the LTE only options. Neither would let calls through.
I have this problem using the Essential PH-1 with Android 9 Pie in South Korea on the KT network. It should be fully compatible, according to radio specifications, however it only works when I change the following setting:
Settings | Network & Internet | Mobile network | Advanced | Preferred network type | 3G
This is not ideal, since it makes the Internet slow, but at least I can make/receive voice calls. I submitted a support ticket to Essential requesting their official help (I'm well within warranty).
I had the same issue when I use my Att prepaid plan. The problem is caused by wrong network type, you can send text and browse internet, because they use the different channel. My PH-1 wrongly recognized the sim as CDMA/LTE mode, just switch it to 4G/LTE, it will be work. Go to Settings, then search "wi-fi calling", point "advanced" then you can see an opinion "Preferred network type" if you are ATT or T-mobile user, and your preferred network type is "LTE/CDMA“ then your phone cannot make call. Switch it to "4G/LTE", you phone will be work. BTW, Verzion uses CDMA, so if you are Verzion user, CDMA/LTE will work for you phone.

ZTE blade a7 prime on at&t service

i just got this phone from visible, of course it comes unlocked but it only has some of the bands needed for lte service on att. i was curious if anyone has tried this phone on att and tell me how good lte is with just a few of the bands
Google camera for zte blade a7 prime
Even I got this phone through visible, but was wondering if gcam can be installed in this?
It is lacking almost all of At&t bands. Most likely you are on band 2.
quote from sd
To whomever is trying to configure the ZTE Blade A7 to work voice/text, use a network app like "Mobile Network Mode" to force it to select different type of network.
1. Go to the app, select "Force Mode"
2. Set Preferred Network Type: either "GSM Auto" or "LTE/UMTS auto"
This should enable you to make voice call or text both incoming & outgoing.
I had success doing this for my CricketWireless. When doing voice call, it switches to 3G mode.
You must setup your regular APN to have 4G LTE enabled.

I have mine on T-Mobile and it works perfectly after popping in a different SIM to add the TMOB APN.
But it wouldn't make a great DD, because while TMOB Band 4 support is fine where I am, I know from experience that it's pretty spotty elsewhere.

can't change network mode!

hello!
I am trying to set my network mode to WCDMA because I want to use data and receive calls on the same time since my carrier hasn't enabled VoLTE (that's another story...) but I can't!
The option is there, settings, more, Mobile networks, network mode, i make the change to "GSM/WDSMA auto" but it won't stick! If I go back and come again to this menu, the option is reverted back to "GSM/WDSMA/LTE auto"!
There is no luck either with the LG hidden menu, *#546368#*870# , it says "Connection problem or invalid MMI code".
Could this has to do with my modded kernel?
Any other ideas?
Here is my setup right now:
LG G6 H870
Android 7 Nougat V11i-EUR-XX
Melina kernel 3.18.62-melina-rel7_2017.12.31_uber-6.x_STOCK_zefie
Thank you in advance for your help!
That is a GSM phone. You cannot simply switch to CDMA. Different hardware.

what?
If i know that correct, WCDMA = 3g, right?
I want my device to be locked to 3g only, not 4g, because when I receive a call, it drops from 4g to 3g and I lose my internet connection, which is really frustrating if you are in the middle of a video call!
