Looking for a 6.x rom for galaxy S4 - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
Sadly i got injured and i cant get out of the house. I'm playing Pokemon Go, but i live in a rural area...
Downgrading my brand new S8+ is not an option, but a friend gave me his old S4.
really want to install that game, with a FlyGPS app so i Wont miss the event
If i'm not mistaken, FlyGps works best with 6.1 Roms.
I believe its a GT-I9500, but not sure
the game isnt even working on that S4 - guess its because of the CM rom on it. tried to Unroot - doesnt help.
Hope im not breaking any rule...
If you have any other method, I would SO appreciate your help!
Here are some screenshots of what he has on it:
Thanks in advance, Mark

Pokémon Go uses Google's Safetynet. In your case, you have to use a custom ROM with Magisk in order to hide root so Safetynet doesn't trigger. You'll have to check the I9500 development forums to see if there is a current ROM that will work for you, and that ROM will either have to have SuperSU for root - the Magisk installer script can replace SuperSU - or no root at all. Stock-based ROMs won't work for you, and it's doubtful there are any Android 6.x ROMs to fit your needs, so you're likely looking for an Android 7.x ROM instead.
As to breaking any rules? If Niantic catches you using a location spoofing app you will be permanently banned from the game. You need to decide whether this event is worth the risk of being permanently banned.

Hide root app?

Hello XDA!
Im sorry for this thread, but Im little out of loop, wanted to know few things. Because my phone now is 2years old and there is no more warranty, I wanna add custom rom and root. Regarding this, I got question.
After installing new rom, I still want to use my corporate e-mail. As far as Im informed, that e-mail app will not start, if it detects, that a phone is rooted. Is there a way to hide root status, so that app can start? (I think endomondo or spotify also had that ****ty "protection" against root).
There's an xposed module that can do that
The name of the module is RootCloak
You can add apps to a list and root will be completely hidden for these apps
Does xposed work on android 6.xxx ? If I remember correctly, there were problems with android 5 at begginging of it.
I have a samsung Galaxy s5 neo with android 6.0.1 and it works for me. Not all modules are supported but a lot of modules work

Anyone confirm this Magisk rooting method will still pass safetynet on Android 7.0

Hello
I've read around this a lot here and elsewhere and I can't seem to get a definitive answer as to the best solution to the root I'd like. I would like to use TiBu and play PokemonGO (and perhaps use the Barclays UK banking app). It looked like Magisk was the way to do this with Nougat 7.0. This video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CjwSjiE76o8
Which is also shown here in a series of screenshots:
http://galaxys7root.com/galaxy-s7-s...s7-or-s7-edge-on-android-7-0-nougat-w-magisk/
...would seem to do what I want. But I expect I would use updated versions of Magisk etc.
I can see threads on here that would indicate that Magisk is now not able to help you pass safetynet with a rooted phone but I think that may be for updated versions of Android and 7.0 may still be OK.
Can anyone confirm that the rooting method shown here is sensible. Or, failing that, the best way to achieve what I want with a currently stock G930FD running 7.0?
Thanks
Maqgisk does by pass safetynet.
Magisk has it own root now built in.
the links you have provided user older versions of magisk without dated installation methods.
Install twrp on your phone then magisk v.14. you do not need any other files.

Thanks! That's the kind of definitive answer I was looking for.
Btw, which Android version are you on? I have an update available that I can download but not sure I should. As I said, I'm on 7.0 so not sure what I'd end up on if I updated.
As I like TouchWiz but would like to reduce the bloat, I am tempted by the Superman ROM, which makes the update point moot.

How to root non common phones get a custom recovery and custom rom
Hi guys
It is just recently when I've started learning more and more about the Android and the various things you can do with it. (This can be long so you may just want to skip to the last line) Until recently I've only used my phone only for it's basic functionality.
But I'm nowhere near a developer and I really want to learn more.
I have this device called Infocus M535 Android 6.0 (which is obviously not a popular device I'm sure a lot of you haven't even heard about it). And I just regret buying it. Cause I have tried a lot of rooting method but nothing seems to work for me. I've tried kingoroot, kingroot as well. Then I learned that you don't necessarily need to have root access to install a custom recovery like twrp but then there is no official version of it available. I've seen many people YouTube having twrp on this device, I tried asking them but no response from them.
I cannot even think about getting a custom rom for this thing because I know nobody is working on that. And tbh I don't even care about getting a custom rom. All I need is a way to root this thing.
I know this thing is old and I should get a new device but Please please please help me because I just can't afford getting a new phone.
Any help Will be really appreciated

Some help would be appreciated [root etc]

Hi guys! Got an A1 dirt cheap, and oh my god is it the perfect lovebaby from pure android and xiaomi design (cough apple cough).
I'm not completely new to rooting, flashing, etc. but there seems to be quite some difference between A1 and my old HTC 10, so I'd like to gather some info from you guys.
So, ideally I'd like to have/do this:
stick to stock rom and kernel, no issues there. also, staying on 8.0 is no problem, no need to upgrade to 9.0 whenever that comes around.
get TWRP going, so I can; get xposed and root
somehow keep netflix and snapchat going after root, now I know that rooted devices can't, but I'm hoping you guys know something I don't.
I'm used to rooting with SuperSU, no particular reason other than habit. I see a lot of magisk going around here, are there specific benefits to it? And why do we need to flash an .img for rooting, I could straight up root after unlocking bootloader on my HTC 10.
Kind regards
I can only provide you some info about magisk. People here tends to root with magisk maybe because its features. It can install mods systemlessly. You can google what is that. And basically for me, magisk is easy to use. We can find mods easily from Downloads section and manage mods with ease. And for me a custom ROM user, magisk its a must . And I never use xposed on a1 because when not careful enough it can make bootloop. No one like bootloop.
And yeah, Mi A1 is a beauty, especially the design (Cough apple cough) hahaha

what is the most maintained/private rom for this?

I see there are dozens of obscure looking roms under the ROM section, that's okay this is an ancient device. It's no s5.
Since I am very very new to this community I am wondering, which of these is the most stable, well developed and preferably privacy respecting? the idea was going to be roll no gapps and install microg.
Was hoping to have root too, but I can live without it, as long as myphone is not selling my bussy to data brokers every 30 minutes.

it all depends what bootloader version you are on. All roms posted were for Rev4 version bootloaders. There is no installing AOSP roms on these devices so no micro no not having google apps sorry. Root can be obtained Rev 1-10 or Rev 1- A, Limited root can be obtained on Rev11/B bootloader
