Compatible with Google branded USB-C chargers? - ZTE Axon 7 Questions & Answers

I have the following chargers for use with my Nexus 6p:
Universal 22.5W Dual Port USB Type-C Charger
18W USB-C Power Adapter
The 18w adapter came with the phone and the 22.5w dual port charger is google branded from the google store.
I understand that this may not support the Qualcomm QC standard, but can I safely use them without concern with the Axon 7?
Thanks

Yes, you can. If the charger is QC3.0 and you use the stock cable, QC may work. And if it doesn't the charger will go to 5V anyways

Can I use regular 2A charger with N6p?

There are no many adapters on the market and I couldn't find original huawei adapter. Can I use a regular adapter (samsung 2A for example) with my Nexus?

Yes, but you must use a certified cable. Check Benson Leung's reviews on Amazon to find a good one or use the cable provided in the box.
However you can buy original charger from Google Store or a valid alternative from Amazon like this:
http://www.amazon.com/Charger-Type-..._1_1?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1461623244&sr=1-1
If I understand correctly some articles USB A chargers doesn't support type-c power profile, so the phone will charge at a constant rate without lowering amperage to be gentle with the battery. Furthermore the quick charge is a very useful feature, so I suggest you to buy a compatible charger.
Absolutely. Just be aware that charging of the Nexus 6P/5X is limited to 1.5A over a proper USB Type-A to USB Type-C cable. With a USB Type-C to USB Type-C cable and a Type-C charger, it charges at up to 3A (as it does with the official charger).
So if you're worried about speed of charging, you may want to get yourself a new USB Type-C charger, as a Type-A charger will take about twice as long! (a 3A USB Type-C charger takes about 90 minutes) Personally, I just have a USB Type-A charger by my bed, since it will definitely finish charging while I sleep. Then I keep the original charger in my work bag, in case I need to quickly recharge during the day!

I don't know if that's the case, but if it is, I'm not sure it matters. With the USB Type-C charger it's drawing 3A and then lowers as the battery gets full, but I don't know how low it gets. Whereas a USB Type-A charger will be drawing 1.5A maximum, so it may not even need to lower.
Any good USB type A charger that you can recommend?
I Have a good opinion about Samsung adaptive charger that my wife uses with her note edge.

I am partial to Anker brand chargers. I would suggest the PowerPort 2 (as I own a couple), it is capable of charging two devices at up to 2.4A each (while the Nexus 6P can only draw 1.5A, iPads can draw the full 2.4A because of their proprietary tech). But as you can see on the Anker website, they have a ton of different options!

Quick Charge specs? Outlet?

So what do we call the "Quick Charge" that was used for the Nexus 6P? I know it wasn't the same as the quick charge in other phones at the time and it was kind of proprietary when it came out.
The reason I ask is because I need a new charger, but I was curious if there was a wall outlet (with usb ports) that would do the same thing.....Most of the wall outlets say 2.1amp 3.1amps or 4amps, which I assume is divided between the 2 ports if both are in operation. I also have a Nexus 9 so I'd like to be able to charge that.
Any tips or info on what specs I need to look for?

You can look over in the Accessories sub-forum where there is plenty of charger and cable discussion, but basically the 6P does not support the quick charge standard and ANY charger or cable that uses a USB-A port will NOT rapid charge your phone. You need a charger that either has a USB-C female outlet or integrated (non-removable) USB-C cable that supports the USB-C 5V-3A standard. That is the only way the phone will rapid charge. The N9 does not support the quick charge or turbo charge standards either. Mine came with 1.5A charger. You just need a good 5V charger that puts out at least 1.5A and the tablet will safely limit the input amperage. Since you have two devices to charge, you may consider a charger that has both a USB-C and USB-A port.

Support for QC 3.0 and USB 3.0 data transfer

Hi guys,
I've bought QC 3.0 charger and noticed that it charges the phone faster only by 20-25 min in comparison to Sony stock charger, so here the question arises, does XC support QC 3.0 charging?
I've also bought USB 3.0 to usb type-c cable and noticed that it still works in USB 2.0 data transfer speed, so our phone is also not capable of SuperSpeed data transfer?
Yes the x compact only supports USB 2.0.

Sony Xperia X Compact is USB 2.0 only. USB-C is physical definition of jack, USB 3.0 is signalling standard.
Stock charger that comes with European version of XC is already QC 3.0
Yeah as ondrejvaroscak writes one is signalling the other is the connector, as you can imagine 24 usb-c connector can offer alot more so it's not ad simple as that, anyway usb-c cables does not have to support usb 3 signalling no but it should be possible with the correct cable or if you have usb-c on your computer ofc both should be able to operate at 10Gb/s full duplex.
Full-featured USB-C cables that support USB 3.1 Gen 2 can handle up to 10 Gbit/s data rate at full duplex. They are marked with a SuperSpeed+ (SuperSpeed 10 Gbit/s) logo. There are also cables which support only USB 2.0 with up to 480 Mbit/s data rate. There are USB-IF certification programs available for USB-C products and end users are recommended to use USB-IF certified cables.[13]

The cable that comes with the phone is usb 2. I don't know anyone who tried a 3.1 converter cable but I do not see why it should not work.
Usb-c cables also contain a chip.
Electronic ID chip provides information about product/vendor, cable connectors, USB signalling protocol (2.0, Gen1, Gen 2), passive/active construction, use of VCONN power, supported VBUS current, latency, RX/TX directionality, SOP controller mode, and hardware/firmware version

as alot of bad stuff could happen with a simple wire conversation to 24 pin fully reversible connector that can act as both host/slave, and deliver 5amp and analog audio. Usb-c has a long range of future proof modes/specifications. So while usb 3.1 signalling is the current fastest data standard I do not think the old usb connector is the future when you compare it with the possibilities and current widespread of usb-c.

Are you sure that Sony UCH-20 charger is a QC 3.0 charger? There is no information about that on Sony's website.

No, UCH-20 is 1500mA non-QC charger. My XC came with UCH-12W, which is QC 3.0 charger..

Then you are not going to get charging as fast as with the standard OEM 25W or 45W Samsung chargers, none of the clones have the same specs as the Samsung OEM units, they have an unusual specification to which the phone is matched. (And only Note 10+ takes advantage of the 45W version.)

I need USB c to USB 3.0 cable to connect the Note to laptop or to Android Auto and for charging with a QC 3.0 charger.
I am using a baseus qc 3.0, 5 ft long, I precisely bought it to connect the phone to my laptop, which lacks the usb C port, charges at 25 W and transfers data well, search for it

USB Power delivery standard supported?

I know we've got 30W dash charge but is the usb pd protocol with 18w or similar also supported or are we limited to 10w standard usb charging?

If you are willing to unlock your bootloader it shouldn't be a problem. Most kernels provide the options to enable usb pd.
I don't know if that is available in stock and there are no Informatik so about it as far as i know.
would love to know this also as i have a bunch of other USB C chargers and it would be a shame if i can only get 5/10 watts out of them
AFAIK the phone does support USB PD indeed.
I can confirm that it supports power delivery. I have a 30w ravpower charger and it does say "charging quickly" when using a usb c to usb c cable, as opposed to "warp charging" with the included cable and charger or simply "charging" when charging slowly.
I'm still not sure what's best for prolonging the device's battery life to charge, warp, PD or "slow" charging though.

Thanks for testing.
I guess warp charge will be the best quick charge method as they developed this themselves but at least we've got options.

does OTG webcams work? Does Oneplus 8 have the v4l2 linux subsystem that supports OTG web cams?
Software support is finicky between manufacturers (some just didn't implement it)
Can anyone test their Oneplus 8 pros with an OTG webcam?
You can use this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...roid.usbcamera
