As a side effect of trying one of the overclocked ROMs which stopped my tab booting, I've sorted it out by flashing back to a working zImage, but now the tab refuses to see the internal storage memory. It can see the external MicroSD in the recovery menu, but within the OS, it doesn't think it even _has_ internal memory.
Any idea how to reinstate the block device? I've tried doing a complete repartition and reflash of rotohammer's JMI firmware, but still nothing.
The likely block devices in /dev/block that I can see are:
mmcblk1
mmcblk1p1
mmcblk0
mmcblk0p1, 2 & 3
And in /dev/block/vold/ :
179:0, 1, 2, 3, 8 & 9
Any ideas?
EDIT:
I did another repartition and reflash of Rotohammer's JMI firmware and once it rebooted it seemed to sort itself out. Strange that it didn't do it the first time.
I kinda super screwed this NC I am working on. I literally deleted all partitions on blk0 (I know... don't ask how). I have rebuilt them all based off of:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920347 (not including 9,10; just merged them into 8)
and dd'd boot and system images. Still will not boot. I know they contain device specific data but could anyone PLEASE post dd images of op2 and op3? I think that is all else I need.
I have tried every recover fix zip I have found on these forums. If anyone can think of anything else I can try please let me know. Thanks

You can reconstruct the partitions, but if you messed with the underlying geometry of the eMMC it will need to be reformatted. See this link for how to do it for SD. The same idea applies to eMMC. If you previously backed up your eMMC image, you can dd it over the entire mmc and should recover your geometry in the process.
Good luck. FWIW you are very unlikely to have done any permanent damage. You should be able to get a system back up and running.
Be sure partition one is FAT and the emmc is formatted correctly if you want u-boot/kernel to load...

My understanding is that if you collapsed the partitions that this is nearly impossible to recover in a functional state. You might get data retreival but to get it to be non buggy and working will be difficulties suggest that you back up or restore as much information ad possible and reformat/repartition.

I've gotten all the partitions rebuilt and formatted. It's just that the 0p2 and 0p3 partitions are empty and I need the DD image to fill them again. For now I am going to try an undelete on the partitions to see if I can recover them until someone dumps the dd images or has another idea.
Thanks for the suggestions.
hi guys i am in a big mess
1)i tried installing official 2.3.5 final and my phone(u8800) started bootlopping after factory reset i managed to start it once.
2)i restarted my phone after rooting it and had again bootloops that i didnt ever manage to overcome.
3)so i desided that i should reflash official(and the desaster started)update failed on 99% and the worst bootloader locked .
4)i tried installing an official froyo also failed at 99% but bootloader unlocked
5)now i am on ubuntu able to see pink screen files but unfortunately i dont have dd back up but i have many back ups from cwm on my sd from custom roms is there any posibility to unbrick my phone?
ps for admin sorry for same thread but the other started writing in some unknown language to me
Can you access recovery?
So you downgraded to 2.2, which version B138?
can you try to access recovery? official will do for factory reset, if doesn't start again try to flash it again, and after that do wipe and factory reset from recocery...
I managed to downgrade like that also failed at 99% but with factory reset the phone started normally...

1)yes my 2.2 froyo is 138 from how to root ginerbred thread and after this flash i lost adb compatibility in windows so now i am in ground zero if ther is a way to flash something from ubuntu or backtrack in bootloader mode because even after that still no access to phone not even from pc on cwm to see my sd card
2)in simple boot my phone stacks on huawei logo,i can also get to recovery menu and finaly and i think the most helpfull i can get pink screen and mount my files on linux.
3)i have also try to recover in last saved working recovery (custom rom)
4)i think that something went wrong with my partitions but i realy need help from a developer because i dont know what to do
try this
try to wipe/factory reset from the official recovery, should start normaly after that, my phone did the same when i downgraded from 2.3 stoped at 99% and said that the update failed but after a factory reset booted normaly
Maybe a partition is damaged.
Try from linux on pink screen to check partitions for errors. Maybe you can fix it like this and after to successfully flash the update.

can you give some info how to do that i see 3 partitions of 105mb,235 and recovery partition only who auto mount and on gparted i see 4gb unreachable
do you mean just to check disk this partitions ?
I haven' t specific infos, I'm using linux very rear the last year. I think that you can use the fsck tool of linux. You can find a lot of info about how to check partitions for linux if you search on google. Just be careful to not format them or erase them.

You should see 13 partitions total if you look at the drive with parted or gparted etc.. And yeah you could run fsck on all the ext3/ext4/fat32 partitions. But if you don't see all the 13 partitions in parted / gparted then I think the partition table is damaged or some weird bootloader lock issue.
after some tries and stock reflashes i am now on official cwm recovery and trying to wipe data/factory resets returns me an error :
E:cant mount @(or /dev/block/mmcblk0p13) both wipe and format same error
can you candly send me the official recovery files and what should i have in(i think something after so many custom roms failed)
and this are the partitions i can see now
You could run gparted and note down all partitions which are ext3, ext4 or fat32. Then you can check the disks with "sudo fsck /dev/sdxx". Also I can post my partition table later when I'm on my comp so you could compare it to yours.
Sent from my u8800 using xda premium
thies are all partitions but i think there are too many anallocated

Here's how mine looks. I'm guessing you don't have a dd backup of the whole phone? Anyway if your partition table is messed up, it would be possible to clone my partition table. Only the partition table, and leaving all other data intact. It would probably be a good idea also to check with others if the partition table is always exactly the same on all phones, or if there are different flash mems or something with diff. tables. Also did you run fsck on 1,6,12 and 13?

do you know how ican fix my partitions again or should i sent it to service tbh it is huawei fault that my phone doesnt work now
I checked my partition table(I have 2.3 installed, not 2.2) and are same that ksata' s, except partition 12 which is in ext3, not ext2.
But I think that on 2.2 rom the partition table has 12 partitions and not 14(I've used command cat /proc/mounts some times when a was on 2.2 rom and always partitions count was until 12). So, I don' t think that it' s something wrong with the partition table.
But maybe some of the existing partitions is damaged and when update tries to write on it, gets an error and update stops.
You can check the ext2/3/4 partitions from gparted. First umount a partition end then check it(if you right click on a partition these options are available on the menu)
Looks like I have bricked mine too.. pretty badly. When updating to 2.3 if fails at step 2 (40 %) and shows "update failed" (same with 2.2). Can't access recovery either. In pink screen Windows and Ubuntu doesn't mount any partitions..
Looks like I have to send it in to change motherboard, but if any have suggestions how to fix it please tell me
ps. was on Cm7 before this happened.

Have the same issue. Did you try to work it out somehow?
Try look at my thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1466953
Here's my contribution,
A Friend has a TP that I 'keep upto date' for him, He wanted to get to 4.3, so I've done that, however resizing partitions in HP world just seems a pain. So here's some flashable ZIP's to do the hard lifting for you.
4 versions I'm uploading (shout if you want a different sizing).
First add's 8gb to the data size (ontop of what you have already, just look in the storage system setting option for that info) the second adds 12gb, then 16gb and finally 24gb.
UPDATE - As requested I've uploaded four new ZIP's, these set the System and the Data sizes. The System get's partitioned to the 'standard for 4.3' 512mb, the Data will get set to the relevant size marked in the ZIP.
Just pick the one that matches what you want (obviously don't try the 16 / 24 on the 16gb device! and make sure you have enough 'clean' space before you start)
What I recommend doing is moving everything you can off the old 'SDCard' partition, using Recovery in the tether mode (int the storage menu), once you have removed as much as you can (remember the 'hidden' .???? folders and don't go deleting anything that's WebOs based!)
Then just flash the ZIP you think meets your requirements.
UPDATE - Uploaded the revert scripts, I've not tested them but they should be fine.
Hope that helps.
Two way trip
Edit: To revert these changes users can do a full uninstall using the ACMEUinstaller2. This will remove all partition changes and files added when installing Android:
How to Uninstall Android or CyanogenMod on the HP TouchPad (All versions)
In addition Gradular The Ape have created flashable zips that can reverse the partition changes the previous Android state . Find these in the above post and in Gradular's second post in his thread here: How to guide for changing your system, data, and cache partition sizes to whatever you want.

This is great thank you! A few people have run into problems when moving around data with the tailor, this should totally get around that:good:
I've got to ask, would it be possible to create a reverse of these files? The problem with this setup is that it's a one way trip. If users don't like, or have problems, they'd have to go through the pain of using tailor to rearrange their space again. Being able to add and remove the space with a zip would be a lot more convenient and give users a round trip pass for changing the partition sizes.
Cheers:highfive:

Shouldn't be an issue, I've obviously not got a TP to play with here, so can't test, and I don't like to put stuff out there that I've not at least done a once over of.
I'll have a look at it tomorrow when I've got access to the device and post a few ZIP's. I'll just do an 'inverse' of the four I've already done so you can undo a change.

Great... Guess it would reverse to the ACMEInstaller3 default partitions... If u'r flash resizes the (system) to 512 MiB... I would leave that one alone instead of making it go back to 400 MiB...
What is the breakdown for a 32GB TP using the data_plus_24576mb-signed... Is this about right ???
USB (media) - Depends what size TouchPad u have... (Decreases 112 MiB to be added to the Android (system) partition & Decreases about 23076 to be added to the 1.5 GiB already in the (data) partition)
Android (system) - 512 MiB (Increase of 112 MiB from ACMEInstaller3 400 MiB size OR do u leave it at the 400 MiB size ??? OR does it assume we used the update-cm-tenderloin-system_resize_512-0.4 already ???)
Android (cache) - 200 MiB (Stays at ACMEInstaller3 size)
Android (data) - 24576 MiB
Plan to so some testing how ACMEInstaller3 would handle an update-data_plus_24576mb-signed thru the CMInstall when reconfiguring or coming from a stock TP (before Android & any Recovery is install on the TP)... Any thoughts on this ??? Doesn't work from ACMEInstaller3... Although I did see it run... It didn't change the size of the default partitions that ACMEInstaller3 creates...
Update: Was able to play with the 24576 file... This was the break down of the partitions now..
USB (media) - 1.539 GiB
Android (system) - 400 MiB
Android (cache) - 200 MiB
Android (data) - 25.5 GiB
Unused Space - 16 MiB
So we will need to increase the (system) partition separate using the update-cm-tenderloin-system_resize_512-0.4 file if u'r still @ 400 MiB...

Using CWM6_tenderloin-20121215 here...
We've all used ACMEInstaller @ the initial setup of Android... It creates the Android partitions & it installs moboot, recovery & rom & gapps... It was the double penguin screen that installed them.. Most of u have not used it since then... You just use the recovery to change things... I've been reconfiguring my TP lately so I've been using it a few times.... More of the exception & not the norm...
U'r flash files only increase size right... It doesn't format anything... Can u do a version of the 24576 file that also changes the (system) partition to 512 MiB... I can test it if u like.. Thanks.. :good:

I'll put some that do system together in the morning, I didn't bother as it was already done that way on my friends. And no, it doesn't delete anything, just shunts partitions around.
Oh and yes I do remember ACME now, back in he early days was all done via scripts and terminal, so never played with it as such, think used it once for cm9. But doubt my scripts will run under that as they make use of a lot more than just pure recovery, hats why I recommend at least cwm6

Think I found something... Or maybe not...
I had already used the data_plus_24576mb-signed yesterday...
I tried to use the sys_512mb_data_plus_24576mb-signed patch just to resize the (system) partition... I thought it would recognize that the (data) partition was already 24576 MiB or that the (media) partition didn't have 24576 to give again...

Guess the FAIL part of it is the safety check...
Went back to WebOS... And Tailor is telling me my new partition break down is as follow...
USB (media) - 1.539 GiB => 1.43 GiB
Android (system) - 400 MiB => 512 MiB
Android (cache) - 200 MiB => 200 MiB
Android (data) - 25.5 GiB => 25.5 GiB (This includes the 24576MB + 1.5GiB that ACMEInstaller3 created the (data) partition with)
Unused Space - 16 MiB => 16 MiB
So everything worked fine... Wonder if the FAIL message can be specific enough when it's due to not having enough space in (media) to move over or if it's due to (data) already being the requested size... The part that said cm-data:26112=>50688 made me think it was forcing the mod... Also the media:1464=>23112 looks weird to me... Like it's shifting space from (data) to (system) to send back to (data)..

Yup, that's the one, you can change the other partitions that way too if you wanted too, but the sizes here should be pretty close for most people.
However if your a bit more confident with what your doing then help yourself, after all, your device, you should know best what sizes are right for you.

Got the following:
Guess the FAIL part of it is the safety check...
Went back to WebOS... And Tailor is telling me my new partition break down is as follow...
USB (media) - 1.539 GiB => 1.43 GiB
Android (system) - 400 MiB => 512 MiB
Android (cache) - 200 MiB => 200 MiB
Android (data) - 25.5 GiB => 25.5 GiB (This includes the 24576MB + 1.5GiB that ACMEInstaller3 created the (data) partition with)
Unused Space - 16 MiB => 16 MiB

There is very little error checking/reporting built in, it 'shouldnt' cause any issues if your sizes are not able to be changed, but the output has not been friendlied up, after all I knocked it up so I didnt have to use WebOS, it does however have a quick look to see if it's possible to do the command it's meant to be doing before it tries (as you can see)

Thank you for these very helpful packages, great work! This will help a lot of people change their partitions easily. I will test them out once you also post the reverse files so I can try the round trip experience cheers:good:

Damn! I forgot all about the revert ones, could anyone let me know what the 'original standard' partition sizes are for the 32gb and the 16gb and I'll knock a zip for each together.

Neve mind about WebOS partition sizes since most won't want to have to rerun ACMEInstaller3..
My 32GB after a reconfig & without any Android part install shows...
USB (media): 27.663 MiB (Partition Size 28296 MiB)
Unused Space: 8 MiB
My 32GB after a reconfig & first Android Installation shows..
USB (media): 25.539 GiB (Partition Size: 26152 MiB)
Android (system): 400 MiB
Android (cache): 200 MiB
Android (data): 1.5 GiB
Unused Space: 16 MiB
U would want a reverse flash that would only shift the 24576 MB back from (data) to (media)... Keeping the (system) @ 512 MB seems like a must thing to do now.. RolandDeschain79 probably has a better idea of what would be best for most...
Not sure about 16GB models...
That's the info I would need. What would be best for the 16GB models?
can we resize the partition from windows ?

As requested I've uploaded four new ZIP's, these set the System and the Data sizes. The System get's partitioned to the 'standard for 4.3' 512mb, the Data will get set to the relevant size marked in the ZIP.

Thansk for your work. Now, pardon my newbines on the touchpad, but here it goes.
I have my TP with CM7, very old and unstable.
1) Can I use your ZIPs to repartition before moving to CM9 or CM10?
2) Can I just boot to recovery and flash this no matter what I have today?
3) I have a 32GB TP. If I use for example, sys_512mb_data_plus_16384mb-signed.zip I would have used about half meg for system, and 16GB for data, what happens with the remaining 15.5 GB?
Thanks!
After working for a long while trying to get a complete Partition Table together for our G6's, I finally got output from a GPT script, just to be stumped by it.
I am going to attach the output from each GPT partition. the problem is, every output starts at LBA 6. which would mean that there are either multiple drives (possibly virtual) or the output is wrong.
Maybe somebody can figure out what is going on here???
@runningnak3d
well, i think i figured out why there are more than one.
If you take a look at the files you extract from the kdz, you will see some numbers following each partition. Those numbers are not random, they are chosen to show the first lba of that partition.
The issue you see, is that multiple partitions have the same exact starting lba.
How can this be? There can't be multiple partitions in the same location... I believe LG is splitting the emmc into multiple Dynamic drives, then partitioning them with each PrimaryGPT.
I'm at a loss here...
I have an idea of what to do. But, for now, gotta sleep...
