I think these are US.
Just updated feels smoother somewhat.
Battery life is much better...
We were all waiting for the new update to come but Once more Samsung has manage to destroy some things
One of them is screen auto light adjustment... At least at Exynos AQG5 version
Before the update you could just adjust the bar wherever you like and then with one off - on to auto switch you have return to full auto light adjustment...
Now this is impossible
With auto on if you move the bar this setting is saved like the ideal auto lighting condition and stays that way...that means that auto lighting is working good but from the base of your previous adjustment and not full stock auto.. If you deactivate and activate again the auto switch nothing happens because of the previous "saved condition"

Sorry, but I don't see 'Moderator' after your name. If the mods have no problem with this thread, why have you? If this thread has been created inappropriately I'm sure they'll close it.
With all due respect, if you don't like it, please just move on and stop trolling.
Plus, there are plenty of threads here about updates that are not in the firmware thread.

He started the thread he linked. Personally, I like threads like this one that speak to specific updates as they're released. I don't feel like wading through 40 pages of a thread when 37 have nothing to do with my particular phone/region.

That thread is a nightmare to read through. Sometimes when a new update comes out especially when it's in a new region, it's useful to read a nice fresh thread from page one detailing issues.
Also that thread is for ODIN not OTA.

Hi mate, just wondering if your S8+ is on a carrier?
I've got the unlocked version and I don't have any updates, I've also checked SamMobile and Updato and can't find an unlocked one. However, I did see the update for Vodafone.
Also, does anyone know if I'll get any bloatware if I flash the Vodafone version?
Thanks!

My carrier's Sky Mobile, who 'piggyback ' off the O2 network, but I don't get any O2 bloat.
My version is XEU If that makes a difference, the wierd thing is that on Updato it showed a date for XEU of the 14th of July, but I only got it on the 24th. Would be interesting to know whether anyone from O2 has received this yet.
Not sure if flashing Vodafone will install their bloat like inserting their SIMS would.
The UK roll out never makes much sense. Some network firmwares are released before the generic ones, but its not consistent and can change at anytime. The only consistent thing is that EVR (EE) is always last, and usually skips releases entirely, often as many as 3 or 4 releases.

This is how stock Android works. Auto brightness still works, it's just based off where you set it, not where the OS decided it should be.
The service mode code *#2683662# which allows you to select specific Lte bands as well as enable 4 mimo no longer works after the update, just says not supported, anyone have any workarounds or reasons why?

I just got my Galaxy S about a week ago and I was very disappointed to see it didn't have Swype installed. I also noticed it was missing the SocialHub app which, doesn't really break my heart but was more of a "Huh..." moment. I do know the Korean version is slightly different since it includes the DMB Antenna for TV and whatnot but I was curious if anyone else knew about this and if there's a way I can get Swype on my phone. I'd also like to flash some new firmware on here because my Galaxy S is lagging quite a bit and at times is completely unresponsive in which I have to either attempt to power off or just remove the battery. I am using a task killer but I think it's more than just killing a few apps to solve my problems. It really doesn't seem to be nearly as snappy as I've seen in several videos. Hope someone can answer some of my concerns. Thanks!
Not sure if you tried this.
Try long press the text input field until the "input method" dialog box appears. Swype should be selectable from the box.
As for it being unresponsive, before trying to flash the new firmware, try to find a program call 'Advance task killer" and have it automatically kills useless tasks that continues to run in the background.
Other than that, if you are still unhappy, then flash away!

And if it does not appear for selection, go into setting, locale and see if Swype is there but unticked. If unticked, you should tick it before it can be eligible for selection.
Being laggy is a serious issue affecting all models, it seems. I'm too very disappointed with that, but I'm waiting for Froyo to come around to fix it.
I suggest you to flash JG3 or JG5 firmware. My SSGS seems faster than the original firmware after flashing. However, you should use Titanium backup to backup some Korean app that you like.
This European firmware has Swype kb, I can guarantee.

That's a fine way to brick the phone.
22.Can I flash an Asian ROM on my European device or vice versa?
Flashing should work without any problems. There are no known compatibility issues as of now. If any should arise, flashing back to Asian firmware is always possible.
Check your current ROM by dialing *#1234* to make sure you do not have a Korean variant of the phone (which is NOT compatible!).

@eaglesteve & @kcharng
I tried and checked both suggestions when I first got the phone because I really wanted to try Swype but didn't see the option. Only Samsung Keyboard existed. Now I have that and Swiftkey Beta since I installed it.
@kcharng
I do have Advance task killer installed and have been using it at times but for the most part it's pretty laggy. There's also the ever occuring GPS issue as well and I've had the camera mode sort of lock itself on my phone so I can't press the home button to exit. I'm hoping there's a Korean firmware that I can flash to fix it all or that Froyo will be my Godsend.
Thanks everyone for the helpful and kind replies btw. I was afraid I'd get flamed, call it first post jitters.

I also have the Korean Galaxy S. I had my Korean friend call up Samsung Service to deal with some of my issues. They didn't include Swype because of the double consonants in the Hangul, seems dumb that they didn't have an English only option. I've tried to use the apk from the I9000 but it just FC on me. The stock keyboard, really, really sucks on the Korean version, but right now I'm using Swiftkey which is really great for prediction but kind of frustrating otherwise. I've heard the Droid X has a great keyboard, so I'll try that soon.
I personally only manually kill apps with ATK, I don't let it background. At times I get laggy, but overall I find the device very responsive. FYI, if you didn't know they've put out two firmware updates already for the Korean version, connect to Kies if you haven't already.
Please reply or PM me if you have any questions. I wouldn't change the firmware, Korean version isn't easy to get international support for and also we will be the first to get Froyo, no reason to delay that! Also, I've noticed other features missing, like text-to-speech isn't as universal in our version.
Also you can try to root your phone.it is worth it just to run app like auto killer, cache cleaner, titanium backup.
Personally auto kilter is a much better app than ATK.

Is there any support here or elsewhere for the Korean Root? Then again, I think I'd wait at least 2-4 weeks until I get Froyo before rooting.

I think the biggest missing feature is tethering, but I guess that'll come with Froyo anyways and SKTelecom has advertised they'll move to unlimited data with free tethering in August to support this and other devices on plans 55,000 won and up.
*Edit* Tethering is not missing, I just didn't know the name of it, it's found in the same exact place as it is in the international version, wireless & network, mobile AP.

Swype
Not sure if you've already discovered this but..
I just upgraded my korean galaxy s firmware to DH09 with Samsung Kies and it included swype and a really good RAM clearer. Makes it a bit more snappy. Actually it may be too good because it can clear the widgets out to.
Not sure what else it has yet. Still playing with it. Actually someone just called me and an option to record the phone call was on the screen.... Can't say I'll ever use it but interesting.
If this is what Eclair 2.1 is like then Froyo 2.2 is going to be amazing

Hi I'm new to this site and new to my phone as well. I also have the korean version of the Galaxy S and was able to upgrade to DH09. Im sorry but do you mean when you say good RAM clearer? I noticed that my phone has 326 RAM and the I9000 has 576MB RAm. Is there a big difference on that? Also, can you tell me where I can find the radio? I only found the radio app in the TV widget. But if I try scanning channels, it can't find any. Is it because I'm in the Philippines?
Does your phone also limits sms characters to 80 letters? Coz mine does, and the standard number of characters in the Philippines is 160. But I just downloaded handcent sms and I was able to send more characters
Thanks in advance!
I'll try to update this thread since we don't get enough answers! I kind of think we should try to get an "official Korean FAQ" going, as this thread is inappropriately labeled for general questions and issues going forward. Also, I edited one of my previous posts bc I'm a noob who couldn't find the tethering settings, I believe at the time of writting it was available, though it could've come in a fw update I think I just overlooked it.

Hopefully your radio is an easy fix, I had a similar problem with the DMB until I figured out how to work it. I did a little test just now to make sure the functionality is essentially the same, and in my experience, - it is.
On the top right corner of the device (if you are looking at the screen) you will notice a little cutout break in the device, this is the DMB antenna. In my apartment it is the only way I can find radio stations, even having headphones in (the way normal phones sans tv antennas work to get stations) wont work without having the antenna up and out. Obviously an eye-sore and a bit of a design flaw, imho assuming it can try an alternate if both are present, however, I don't have much of a use for the radio so I can look past it and I don't even fully understand the need for it with the TV but Korean's are just used to having these janky antennas protruding from their phones. My iRiver mp3 player didn't even need a DMB antenna to pick up stations, it worked fine with headphones, I'm not really sure why they necessitated the need for the antenna.
In my test, the only radio stations that came up were in the national scan, but this is probably location dependent, try to scan metro and national to see if you can find what you are looking for, if nothing comes up there is a technical problem with frequencies being scanned or something else.
Regarding the memory, this is how all the SGS variants report their available memory. No SGS, AFAIK, reports the full amount of memory and there has been plenty of debate on how much memory the units actually shipped and last I read Samsung never released an official presser on the quantity. These questions might have been answered over time, by Samsung or teardowns, or what have you, but this isn't unique to the SHW-m110s.
Regarding the SMS letters. We have an 80 byte limit on our phones, this means 80 english characters and spaces and each Korean syllable (composed of upto 4 characters, or letters if you will) will count as 2 bytes. I'll assume this has something to do with the carrier restrictions on SMS/MMS. Handcent might help us get around this, but might not, if it's truly a carrier issue. In your case, have you tried just sending something with 100 characters? For us it's a "soft-limit", meaning we can type 150 characters but it requires to be switched over to MMS, but you might not find the same with your carrier. Do a test if you like, especially if you prefer the stock app it's worth a test.Try to send a bigger text and check online to see how they charged you. In my case it automatically switches to MMS and they are treated the same for cost/phone plan purposes so it makes no difference to me (with the exception of having to switch 3G on when I have it disabled, ugh). With my previous dumbphone my long text messages would actually be sent as 2 text messages, another thing you should check to make sure isn't an issue to you (I think handcent would be able to get around this, again, I think this is a Korean carrier limit but it doesn't change our pricing...as a matter of fact, if handcent sent 2 50 character messages it would be more "expensive" if we go over our limit than if we sent 1 100 character MMS.
Hope that helps!

Yeah, I did discover that, also the latest firmware gives faster 3G data connections. If you are ever wondering what is going on with the FW upgrade go to naver and search "갤럭시s ____" fill the blank in with the updated FW build. Then translate the results from the page you've found.
Regarding Swype specifically, they gave us an old build, which is a bit disappointing. The latest/greatest has voice input, amongst other things. Oh well, there is always tomorrow.

It seems that the Korean government is currently blocking this for competition reasons. This really pisses me off because, first, at least last year KT was growing faster than SK which means SK should be given every opportunity to make changes. Second, and more importantly, one of the president's platforms was decreasing the price of wireless services, this move would have to be followed by a similar move by KT if they want to be competitive so we'd all have cheaper options for massive data. I'm about 70% sure I'll write him a letter personally, I just think it'll be thrown in the trash because a 6 year old could probably articulate a better argument in Korean than me, of course I could have someone do the translating but I actually want them to be my words and it to be that much more authentic.
Hi,
Yes I do think we should have our own thread. It will be good in sharing things we find out about our phone. Our country doesn't support DMB yet that's the reason why I think the Radio or TV is not working. I found a link giving all the apk files and I tried copying it to my phone. But still it won't work. I guess I really won't be able to make it work. I found the list of all the apps from android forums.
I tried installing Handcent SMS and I was able to address the 80characters problem. Now I can send up to 160 characters per message.
I'm excited to see what Froyo can do for our phone.

Yeah, I'll write something up and post a new thread within a week. I'll try to get it translated to Korean because at least a few prominent hackers in Korea visit so if they can share their knowledge in either language at least we can start to ask questions a bit easier and in a setting we are more comfortable. Plus, if we get their devs in house a bit more then the rest of the GS community can learn more from them.
Anywho, I'm glad you replied because I have a question. What is the cellular radio frequencies and technologies you use in the Philippines. I want to know more about the world comparability of this phone, so any info you have on the radio tech in your area and what bands this can access would be great.
As I sit here and wait for 2.2.2 for my N1, it occurs to me I know nothing about the OTA process. A quick search of XDA reveals some of the same questions but few answers. Here's some things I'd like explained:
- How does the rollout process work?
- Are they controlled by HTC or Google or Tmobile?
- How does the selection of IMEIs work?
- How are the carriers involved in the distribution process?
- Is country of residence a factor?
- Does the update process work faster over WiFi? Or maybe require a cellular data connection?
- What does *#*#CHECKIN#*#* do exactly?
- What does clicking Settings...About Phone...System Updates do?
- Is the signing and structure of the update package understood?
- Would I get an OTA if I had no cellular data plan (only WiFi)?
Can anyone point me to a thread/page/wiki that has these answers?
To the best of my knowledge:

No one knows for sure. Seemingly random unless you have one of the "Holiday" Nexus Ones which seem to get preferential treatment to update first. Not always the case though.

Aside from the data being downloaded across their network, the carriers are not involved in any way with the Nexus One's update distribution.

I don't believe so. It goes off your IMEI and whether Google has chosen you.
- Does the update process work faster over WiFi? Or maybe require a cellular data connection?

That depends on the speed of your wifi or 3G connection. It is like downloading any other file off the internet (wifi will probably be faster).
- What does *#*#CHECKIN#*#* do exactly?

It forces your phone to check Google's servers for an update. But, if your IMEI isn't in the approved pool that the update is being sent to, it will NOT cause your phone to get the update ahead of time. IMO, the checkin code is worthless as you will almost always see the update file posted here long before your phone will tell you there is an update.

It may not have these specific answers, but is an excellent place to go before asking any questions here.
Oh, and one more thing. You have posted this in the wrong forum. This forum is not for questions. The forum labeled "Nexus One Q&A" would have been the appropriate forum to start this thread in.
I have a korean nexus and it got updates which slighty different from stock rom, i think it maded by kt itself, not google.
My opinion is thats because its a operator model. And yours t-mobile nexuse one wouldnt be one of the first wholl recieve ota.
Btw my korean nexus stll didnt recieved FRG83D
There are no operator models in the US, only Vodafone in Europe and KT in Korea have them.
The updates of the operator ones still come from Google, but they're delayed for testing/modification by the networks.

Cheers!

Yes, but I can't find any reason to NOT give the option to manually chceck for updates. I had that option in stock android 2.1 on the Milestone, so it can't be to difficult if Moto Europe lazy devs could do that. Am I missing something or it's just illogical?
Hm. Maybe google didn't want hteir servers to be DDoS'd when new update arrives

Hi Rusty, how do define operator models? I have FRG83D installed! Before that I had FRF91 (Vodafone)! Is my phone still a operator model? In which way does it effect the OTA process?
Unless you've deliberately made the effort to switch to the untouched Google firmware, you'll still have the Voda variant.
What this means is you will receive updates much later than the Google bought handsets, if you tried to install the 2.2.2 update (FRG83G), you'll find that it will fail.

it's really a hard work to wait OTA with google's official version. So I can't wait and just flash a lot of vendor room from the XDA.
the "checkin" seemed to force the phone to check update...
I've rooted my FRG83D, and received my 2.2.2 yesterday, but failed to go through the update due to not found carhome.apk which I deleted manually...
I am starting this thread for the G920I model of the S6. Codenamed "Zerofltedv".
Where is G920I Available?
- Singapore
- India
- Australia
- USA
- Latin American countries
- North America
The S6 comes with regional locks for particular countries, And need to be activated with a sim specific for that region.
What is this thread about?
- For discussion.
- Online and local availability.
- Isssue discussion.
- Custom ROM development specific for this variant.
- Pricing
- Accessories
Curious to see which country with the G920I model gets updates first so I can flash that region's firmware in Odin. Australia will obviously be last as usual so I'm keen to get off this firmware ASAP and get onto one that doesn't block auto-rotate in the Gallery app

And regarding the auto rotate, it's been an issue on Samsung phones in Australia for years due to some lawsuit with Apple.

No details on the changes, but it looks like Indian firmware has a build date of 31 March while everyone else is still the 7th of March.

Yes, I am on the Indian firmware, which came right out of the box, got a small update yesterday thou. If our models are G920I then we should be able to flash any firmware for the same. My question is what is up with the regional locks? will that be a problem?
IS anyone here having the flash always on problem? mine is very dimly lit if you see it in the dark. very very dim, I have to try hard to observe it. Is it a major issue? are your devices doing the same?
am on a singapore version and i dont have the flash always on problem. battery life sucks though, coming from a OPO.

I'm not seeing any traditional update software options in the about phone section. How will we receive Android OS updates on this tablet? Thanks.
Well it seems in the moment there just are no updates...
Normally you should get your update via ota (you should see an update option in your "main menu"), except for beta/leaked versions, if they should leak anyhow/anytime...
For now, there are no leaked or official updates for our mediapad m3 :-/

If you Google nougat for Huawei mediapad M3 there are several sites that claim they have the download you can Flash
The only thing in the about phone setting I can find about updates is updating the emui
As I know the update emui menu will also update your android (for example to android 7 + emui 5.0).
I know these sites, but as long as I do not see a link hier on xda, on the huawei news pages or on the huawei homepage itself I think these links are just nonsense.
(For example some of these pages just link every phone available and say "download XXXXX android 7 here"... I would not try to install these... But I also suppose you won't get a real package anyway there.)

Rally don't know if we ever see 7.0 for the M3.
The M2 never received 6.0, and what I heard is that Huawei just doesn't give a fu** about tablet software.
Huawei generally doesn't give a fu** about software updates. My Mediapad X2 GEM 701 never received an update. That's why I had to undergo a hugely complex updating procedure with chinese ROMs modified sh1t.
I just got the new update with October patch. They removed the navigation bar too.

Chinese version only perhaps?

Correct, also it said better chrome operation,so maybe people that had problems running chrome in small format ,now can. I always had mine set in medium text and didn't have a problem. There were other things it said ,basic improvements,etc... I can't really notice any change other than the ability to disable the new buttons. Which like I said ,disables the ability to start split screen. Unless someone can tell me how to do NB it with only the fingerprint scanner......I'm also running Nova free launcher.
Plainly, this tablet is sick as F. I'm coming from a wifi only Xperia z3tablet compact though...... the only reason I bought this just because the camera Hardware had a malfunction on the Sony.

Haha haha,
Yes in a very good way. It's heavier than the z3 compact, and no water resistance, but it's smooth ,fast, and the LTE connectivity is incredible. I always have 5 bars of 4g. Now ,I live in Thailand, and the internet is crap here compared to the USA,so in the states it's probably even better. It was half the cost of a normal flag ship phone too,and it's basically a huge phone. It comes with a screen protector and a case, however the case is Carmel color and hard to look at,but it's growing on me. This tablet charges very fast too.
If your on the fence, buy it for sure.

As far as I read not all CPUs are conform with Android 7.0. The M2 has one of them. The CPU of the M3 is conform so i hope we will see the update soon.
So we all know the s20 series has had problems with auto focus especially in the ultra that one was really jacked up. I have the regular galaxy s20 and also have autofocus problems. I have done numerous things to try to make it better I even did a full reset which I normally never do because I would just clear cache and data of said app and it would clear things up. but not this time autofocus was hit or miss for sure and problematic. And for a $1,000 device this Just is not right and don't cut it for me... shoot my old one plus seven pro had better autofocus! and that thing was like 600 bucks. Anyway I am pleased to say that with this new update it is pretty much 100% autofocus is much faster, actually really fast. and 10 out of 10 for me focused instantly. hopefully I don't get in trouble for this if I have to take it down mods just let me know.

Auto update hasn't hit the US. Maybe we'll see it combined with a June security

Edit: I see it is hitting T-mobile and other US carriers this morning, but still with May security patch. US unlocked got ATD1 at the beginning of the month, not sure if T-mobile ever got that one, or just skipped straight to ATE6.

This just came in, installing now, is very fast, the fingerprint is very fast, this update size is 462 mb For the S20 Ultra on T Mobile G988U
Definitely noticing better auto focus after the update.
Now I'm looking forward to Samsung's promised update to allow native gestures to be used on 3rd party launchers. Wish I weren't so anal about small quirks of the gestures that FNG has but the native gestures are the best IMO.
Man, I hate this. I'm on an unlocked s20 ultra and tmobile somehow pushed it out before Samsung does.
Yep def improved some things with this update....things i have found are the auto focus is blazing fast now and seems like fingerprint is a tad quicker....also idk if its me or what but sound seems to have improved coming out of the speakers for sure

At least for the Ultra, an easy way to know they aren't the same: the current ATD1 software on the unlocked phone doesn't have the new macro prompt. ATD1 has been out for a month, the new improvements in ATE6 just surfaced in the past week. But ATD1 did roll out with the May security update already, I expect unlocked will get the improvements of ATE6 with June security in a week or so.
