I recently picked up a V20 from a friend of mine, but I want to update the firmware. I have the unlocked US996 version, but it is a prototype stuck on likely the last build before the phone was launched (Sept 2016 is the security patch). I've tried to check for firmware on RootJunky and the ESN doesn't show up at all. My friend was having issues with he phone getting detected when the tried to update it as well.
So should I leave it as is? Phone seemingly runs fine, but wide angle is really grainy in low light and I'm wondering if the newer software addresses that. Just wanted to hear some thoughts.

You have debug software mostlikely. Thats what we used to gain root on most of the v20s. You can get off of it by flashing a us996 KDZ

I was able to get off the pre production software. What's the most current version for us 996 unlocked? What I'm on now has the December patch.

I am waiting for a MM update too. But to be honest I already thought about those problematics when choosing a device that is not sold in Europe (and btw I an from Austria) AND a dual Sim variant.
Nevertheless that's no excuse for Samsung.
I hope they will carry on... I really like this device and want to keep it for a while.

Actually the manual was posted on their site for quiet a while.
I could of sworn I saw browsing the PN forum that the latest was 3.64. But after receiving the latest June update on my stock 6p, I still have 3.61. so what is the latest? Is there a reason Google wouldn't include the latest?
Sent from my Nexus 6P using XDA-Developers mobile app
3.62 & 3.64 were bundled with N packages, although they are backwards compatible. You'll have to manually pull the radio/bootloader from the new track if you want to update ahead of time.

Try to flash it in odin, then as soon as your phone reboots hold vol +, home, and power. See if that will let you boot into TWRP

As the title says, I was wondering if there's a way to update to Oreo on an unlocked phone. Or will I have to root it?
Currently using PagePlus as the carrier.
Thanks.

I tried this and it said no updates available.
The VZW Utility Application has a security update available (I'm currently on Dec 2016.) I'm assuming this has nothing to do with an OS update?

Probably not, but if you can take that update it would be a good idea. If you don't get the Oreo ota you'll have to wait for a kdz or a stock zip.
