it being impossible to get around the saftynet checks because i have a unlocked bootloader i was reading from another phones thread that it can be bypassed by compiling a kernel from source and excluding/removing the flag that shows your phone as saftynet compatible therefor it wont check and always pass. but i have no knowledge on linux or compiling kernels so i was wondering if anyone has done it already?

So I am aware that SELinux is a thing , and while I understand it adds security to a certain degree (I don't know specifics but I don't want to delve too far into that), I also know that Towelroot for my old S5 was made because of a Kernel vulnerability .
What I'm saying is that I know SELinux has changed to fully enforcing since 5.0 , but could kernel vulnerabilities still be exploited before security updates and firmware patches ?
If so , will this do any good for root ? http://www.cvedetails.com/cve/CVE-2016-0728/
Bumping this only because I saw this:
http://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cgi?name=CVE-2015-1805
Google said that this can cause root and that users (G Flex users specifically) have already used it for exploitation . Any chance ? Someone here has to be knowledgeable on this stuff .

I think I may already know the answer but I want to run it by you guys just to be certain. I've done the "rooting" with the engineer's rom, but since the bootloader still hasn't been cracked I can't put any custom os on the phone, correct? Which means that nethunter is out of the question. Am I right to assume that?
Umm. Yes & no.... to run full nethunter kernel you would need a unlocked bootloader, yes! But locked down, unfortunately you can only do what your kernel supports/emulate.
(iirc linux deploy does kali in chroot)
It'll work but you'll be limited on what you can do, especially if your locked down
This is a question for all the devs here.
Ive been a long time member, mostly lurking. I use to compile windows mobile roms for my own use.
Im interested in trying to build my own custom stock(ish) rom and kernel.
I know it wont be easy and will most likely fail multiple times or even brick my phone completely.
I have the sm-g935w8 version and currently on 8.0 stock root.
My goal would be a custom rom possibly tw with stuff i manully remove and configure i would also make a kernel ..possibly..ive compiled one a long time ago for a linux build. But as for kernel id just like to play around see what is available
Im not looking for the step by step but some information on where to begin and what software ill need.
Also has samsung released latest source code?
Thanks
I know this was discussed probably million times but there isn't a single good explanation if it will ever happen or impossible at all.
On Android 7.x I had My Knox running just fine with magisk and superstock kernel (it fakes knox 0x0) however on 8 I can't seem to make it work. Knox is ok but samsung pass and secure folder detect that the device is rooted, tried magisk hide on many apps but without success. The author of Superstock kernel said he don't have the device anymore and can't test it.
Thanks in advance for any meaningful info!
also looking to see if its supported on A8 2018... Oreo

In Nougat it was possible to use SPay,Secure Folder with tripped knox, but in oreo Samsung found the issue and patched it, the old method isn't working anymore, and no we can't fix it on Oreo.
Ask yourself how necessary Secure Folder is. I used it for 18 months. Rooted, and simply found good alternatives to the problem it was solving
Hello, does anyone have a compiled kernel for Galaxy S8 Exynos [SM-G950F] that supports HID and External network card? I need to equip this phone with Kali Nethunter.
Looking for some compilations I came across something like this:
https://gitlab.com/kalilinux/nethun...tree/171563c6970e65c4a1ff71eaeddb303cde5f0f89
This is the first time I'm dealing with kernel compilation, and creating installation zip package.
So my questions are:
1. has anyone already installed Nethunter on this device?
2. Is there any hardware limitation on this device that prevents it from using HID and External network card potential (e.g. Monitor Mode etc.)?
3. If the hardware on this phone can handle it, can the resources in the link I sent above handle it all?
4. if the link I sent doesn't help, is there anyone who has a kernel and TWRP installation package for this phone, so that everything I mentioned above works?
I apologize in advance if my questions are incorrect. My experience in modifying Android is limited, as so far it has been based on thin modification of roms prepared by other developers.
Thanks!
Have installed nethunter store on g950v flashed to g950u. Rooted with magisk system root..... bootloader 8 [ yes locked bootloader].. nougat .....
Installed privelege escalation extension in the store and converted to system app with an app from playstore..... I know that's probably not the right way to do that but it seems to have worked fine and I'm not sure where to find these ota zips.... new to kali and only a linux novice......
Would love to figure out the right way to get chroot installed.and the full kali kernel\rom overlay...
Can anyone tell me if this is even possible on thia device ? Or would it break my system ?
If its possible can anyone tell me which ota zip I need to flash in safestrap{twrp} . I see a precompiled kernel for the g950f and I, wondering if that would work? And if not whay would be the proper procedure for installing kali on my device ? Any pointers or advice would be greatly appreciated.
I've opened the nethunter manager app and tried installing with the default settings but I get an error.
I'm thinking I may need to change the install directory but again I really don't know where I should change it to.
I love tinkering with my samsung devices and would really like to play around with kali if I could get it properly installed.
I understand that functionality may be limited on my device since there doesn't seem to be anything posted online that I can find about kali and the g950u.
I guess the locled bootloader tends to make people shy away from the snapdragon devices.
This is my 2nd s8 and its still a great device after all these years. I would
love to see some renewed interest in this device and hopefully with kali or any custom roms other tha. The basic nougat with gapps...
