Alright here is how to "update" LGUP's DLL
1. Download the KDZ on the original post, it contains the DLL we will need.
2. Download https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2600575 this tool to extract the DLL from the KDZ
3. Give it the KDZ location > Check the box next to LGUPc.dll (this is the LGUP_Common.dll in your LGUP folder you already have, it's just a shortened name in the KDZ file) > Then click Extract KDZ (This will drop the LGUPc.dll into the LG Firmware Extract's folder)
4. Rename the DLL you just extracted to LGUP_common.dll
5. Find where your LGUP folder is (For me, its located in C:\Program Files (x86)\LG Electronics\LGUP)
6. Once you are in the main LGUP folder then goto model then common
7. Congrats, you have located the pain in the butt DLL that prevents you from flashing Nougat!
8. Now, delete the LGUP_common.dll in that folder (or back it up) and replace it with the one you extracted and renamed from the KDZ earlier!
9. If you did everything right, you should be able to flash Nougat with LGUP now.
(PLEASE KEEP IN MIND YOU STILL CAN NOT ROLL BACK TO MM 6.0 AS OF 7/24/17 )
10. Slam that shinny Nougat 7.0 KDZ file into LGUP and see if you can flash!

I'm looking for this too because I flashed this from another site and did not know that root was not achievable. :crying:
The main problem seems to be the bootloader that does not want to flash twrp even after being unlocked. Or any other image file for that matter, ends up with "FAILED (remote: unknown command)". Hopefully someone comes up with a fix because it sucks with no root.

Once the ota's with security patches have been rolled out for L24 users Huawei Releases the Update.app in no time .
So its easy to flash the otas leaving modem files .
Just follow below guide to Update your phone (L21/L22)to latest rom available for the opponent (L24 lol ).
Download the latest update.app (probably b151 is the latest for now with march security patches).
Put the update.app file to desktop .
Download Huawei update extractor (google for the link)
Now open Huawei update extractor and navigate to open update.app .
you will see a list of files shown .
There just select system.img and boot.img and extract them to the desktop.
Download and extract mfastboot v2.zip to desktop .
Put the extracted system.img and boot.img and move both to mfastboot folder , now in empty space in same mfastboot folder., click shift+right click and click on open command prompt here in the drop down menu .
(before starting install Hi suite first for installing specific drivers)
In the command prompt type these commands after connecting your phone PC when command prompt is opened.
Adb reboot bootloader
Now your phone is at bootloader .
Type this commands
mfastboot.exe flash system system.img
mfastboot.exe flash boot boot.img
mfastboot.exe reboot .
That's it now you are on stock ROM with latest security patch with improved performance as of the update change log[emoji14]
NOTE:
(It may take up to 5 mins to flash the 2.5gb system so have patience) .
Arobase40 said:
That's looks nice, but which profile do we have to use as there's no specific one for the Honor 5x : the default one ?
Then what tool can we use to extract the content of the system.img file for those who have a deodex version such as with Xposed framework ?
I could only find a very old version for ICS/Jelly Bean which does not work with the newer firmwares... I think...
Thanks

Be clear buddy , there is a tool called ext4 extracter to extracting system.img . what do you mean by profile ?
Stock ROM is odexed , you have to deodex yourself .
I will post a guide on deodexing the ROM .
Keep waiting
Arobase40 said:
When I open the Huawei Update extractor The first line is asking for a Huawei device profile and of course the Honor 5x is not there...
Then this is the "ext4 extracter"which seems to be very old and when I tried to extract files from the system.img it got stuck on there.
I know we have to deodex the files ourself...

System.img had a size of 2.4 GB .
So the version you find in forums works but it takes time to load . you can first try Cust.img to open first .if loads faster as it is 300 mb
Arobase40 said:
Well, I guess what you mean is that we're working with the same ext4 unpacker version but we don't have the same behavior... ^^
I can open the cust.img but not the system.img file as it simply crashed after a while (with Win7).
Then we don't have the same size as The Huawei Update Extractor shows me the system.img as a 2.26GB file (dated 2016.03.19). So maybe we don't use the same firmware...
But whatever, the ext4 unpacker can't open any system.img file reliably as it simply crash all the time.
So maybe I'm missing some dependencies ?
As Clsa has done most of the work, we could probably simply use his custom ROM as a base ???

Ofcourse , I just wants to make you cook the ROM by yourself . moreover there were multiple ways extracting the system.img . I will explain it with an in depth tutorial have some patiance I will include it though

Yeah, I'd love to spend more time on cooking itself than wondering where to find the correct tools and why they are not working, if you understand what I mean...
If you publish a tutorial, so publish links to the good tools and specify what is specific to the Honor 5x...
Finally, if something is already done, I don't feel the need to recreate it.

The answer is in the first post here >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-5x/development/stock-kiw-l24-l21-t3312684
The way I get the system.img is I dump it directly from the phone with the instructions here >
http://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-5x/development/custom-rom-starter-template-honor-5x-t3328809. this leaves you with the system.therest.tar.gz and system.apps.tar.gz
that you copy to your PC and you can edit / open with 7-zip
it also contains the core files to build the rom - META-INF and inside is the updater-script that you edit with notepad++ to match your needs

If the Huawei Update Extractor is working fine now, I still have problems with the Ext4unpacker which still crash with the system.img file.
Any input on the issue ?
I can't work the same way as with the second link as I can't directly flash a KIW-L24 firmware onto a KIW-L21 to then dump it as it will simply brick my Honor 5x... ^^

Their is no need to unpack the system.img you can flash it directly to your phone with fastboot
or you can use the HUE to create a flashable zip.
Arobase40 said:
Problem is that you can directly flash the latest firmware just because Huawei/Honor is better supporting KIW-L24 than KIW-21 and one part of the Android Security patch is in the boot.img file (the kernel), that we don't have... ^^
We don't even have the latest Kernel source code yet to recreate a correct boot.img...

@gopinaidu77 Honor india is releasing VOLTE patch
https://club.hihonor.com/in/honor5x...emui-4-0-1-new-features-for-india-market.8451
Anyway to flash it on L24 and use volte on JIO?
If you have already upgraded to Nougat using the manual method I posted, you don't need to flash this. If you do, you will get all the bloat back (again), and have to flash your su bin (again), but it isn't going to break your phone.
This is for the H901. Make SURE you have an ACTUAL H901, and not one of the half / half H901 / F600 phones.
If you are still on MM (any version), NOT LP, then you can use this to upgrade (or clean install -- just do a wipe) to Android 7.0 Nougat. This is from the official KDZ that was released on July 18th.
When you flash this, all the carrier bloat / LG bloat / crap / garbage, will come back. You will also lose root until you flash the su bin of your choice. That is the point of this, you WON'T lose TWRP, so you can still root...
Any questions, don't hesitate to ask.
Lastly, when I have time, I will be releasing a version that is already debloated...
Download v30b_update.zip
SHA1: 4ae9338b9301f4b56437ec761b678c8706c90bc7
If you want the FULL Nougat experience -- that is ALL of the v30b firmware except the stock recovery (we don't want to lose TWRP do we?), then flash this as well.
If you flash this, then you might as well delete all of your MM backups that you made with TWRP because you can no longer restore to MM using your backups (you can flash back to MM -- just not with the backups).
If you choose to ignore this, and decide to restore a MM backup, you will brick your phone.
Download full_nougat.zip
SHA1: b1ac20a6eaccf2dfbd22c09886ddcd03ab638ec3
Known working (tested by me) SU binary: download SuperSU 2.82.
SHA1: d980effb25a8f23bc944d6b1015923f310038031
It has also been confirmed by multiple users that Magisk 12+ works, but I have not confirmed that myself.
This will not wipe ANY of your data / apps / or anything else you may have on your phone. That is why it is an UPGRADE and not a CLEAN install
If you want to do a clean install, just do a full wipe, and then flash.
If you downloaded any of my failed attempts (really -- a typo in a ui_print line?!?!?), and don't want to download the whole zip again, you can download this zip. It is the META-INF directory. You will need to unzip the broken v30b_update.zip, and then extract this over top of the META-INF dir, and then zip it back up.
Make sure you use recursion, and make sure you unzip it on TOP of the META-INF dir, not inside it -- or you will end up with META-INF/META-INF/com/google/android. Won't break your phone, but won't flash either.
-- Brian
Thank you so much man you just made my day...
it will be nice if you can share the recommended SU zip...
Any of the current SUs will work. I am using SuperSU 2.82 (hell, there may be a newer version, but it works, so I don't bother), but I know that Magisk will work as well.

Well, what the crap. Edify script is ... or should I say WAS, one of the simplest things in the world. Now that I am off work and don't need my phone, I can actually test this before I post an updated zip.
The only thing I can guess is that the v10 doesn't let you flash from the zip itself, so I am going to extract the files to /tmp and then flash them.....
I will post an update as soon as I have this working. This has never been an issue before.....

As far as I know you cannot rollback to MM from Nougat. Just have to wait and see if someone is able to create a rooted and debloated kdz or .tot Nougat Rom for our H901. I tried to use Dirtycow method to root but the fastboot commands do not work.

I have a MetroPCS LOG K20Plus phone The id model shows MP260. I am currently using it on the T-Mobile network. However, I want to convert and flash T-Mobile TP260 firmware onto it, so it has the T-Mobile logo and firmware..
What I have done so far is installed the driver and LGUP. I unlocked the bootloader using fastboot. I run LGUP and follow the instructions and choose language. I downloaded the latest TP26010y_00_0208.kdz file and choose it. It goes through the process and then generates error: KDZ file is invalid. MP260 -> TP260.
Am I missing something in the process, as I was told I could flash the T-Mobile firmware onto this phone.
Thanks in advance
From what I remember LGUP does not work with this phone. Use Android Image Kitchen and LG Firmware Extractor to compile the KDZ into a flashable ZIP and then try with TWRP. I could be totally wrong. I had switched to the Aristo 2 for a few months and went back to the K20+ when I replaced the screen last week. But that would be a way to do it since I believe LGUP verifies the model.
Possible
I got the kdz from a TMobile and flashed it to a metro firmware since metro took better care of updating the phone. Anyway just kdz it and upgrade with a special lgup program. More info on lgup and process is on the LG G6 converting it from att to another model. It's on xda forums. Just don't use the kdz from the g6

Sorry for answering so late.l, but here we go.
You don't have the correct file. What you have is just a file to update your phone. You need to download .RAW firmware if you want to extract stock recovery.
What are you planning to do? If you phone got bricked (like infinite loop) you can easily use that virtual folder and use the latest available (there) recovery to put your phone in normal, trust me, it'll solve the problem.
But if you really need the .RAW files, here you can some Oreo examples, not the lastest, but also work.

And, in case you need some stock recovery for ZE520KL from that virtual folder, try these for ZE520KL:

Again, I don't know what are planning to do, so my answer might not be useful. xD

Many thanks, I just wanted to know how to extract the "recovery.img" file from the .raw file.
But I realized that I was looking for the wrong file, this print I sent is from the stock rom firmware file that comes from the Asus website. (http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/ZenFone/ZE552KL/UL-ASUS_Z012D-JP-15.0410.1806.68-user.zip).
Where can I find this ".RAW" file that you put there on the link, has it updated on the asus website?
@mvini_ab
Why don't you just skip the stock recovery and flash it thru twrp? Editing the updater-script bypasses the error you're getting. That's how I've been doing it for years, no issues, you just have to flash magisk or superSU afterwards.

You can't find RAW files on official Asus website.
That was the most recent RAW firmware I could find.
You can flash that and update it through the phone in settings -> system -> update
Flash Tools: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzBzT9RsAkigcTlCSlZpMTRBV1U/view
Put your phone in droidboot mode by holding volume+ and power and then use flashtools.

I honestly don't know how to do it. Never read any tutorial teaching that. Furthermore, I don't have computer/laptop (poor enough for that), just my cellphone. =\
@mvini_ab
I've done it through my phone before with rootexplorer, it's annoying but it works. Open the updater-script in the rom zip, it's located in META-INF/com/google/android/. Be careful, there are two files in that directory, you want updater-script not updater-binary.
Open the file with a text editor, delete the first few lines, pretty much up to "ui_print target asus ww_phone release keys", and then save it back into the rom zip and flash it. I think I had to extract the script, delete it from the archive, and then add the edited script back to the archive when I was done.
Flashing magisk and wiping cache/dalvik is all you need after flashing the modified stock Rom through twrp.

Nice! In the next update I'll try that. Thank you, that was really satisfying.
Thank you so much. It's really help me!! I'm going to take my phone to fixer! Thank you again! <3
Hello all,
So I am really confused on how to remove TWRP. After a factory reset I thought TWRP would already be gone but apparently it didn't.
How do I do this and will I have to once again wipe everything?
Just flash the stock recovery image over the twrp image. You may have to dig around for the recovery image, possibly even have to extract it from the kdz.

Thank you for your reply!
So I've got the kdz file (H87020c_00_OPEN_EU_OP_0817.kdz) and tried an extraction tool (LG Firmware Extract) to extract the data. First it changed the .kdz file to .dz file. Then there were a bunch of .bin files inside the .dz file. I extracted it all. But I've no idea what to do now and how to make it an .img file.
I've got two recovery.bin files out of the .dz file:
- recovery_10246.bin
- recoverybak_20614.bin

It unfortunately doesn't work, it seems to have the same problems as some in the thread mentioned.
Can't I just use the .kdz file to do a clean install which automatically wipes the TWRP?
