I got my T-Mobile v20 unlocked with the device unlock app yesterday. Im giving this phone to my friend, which she use AT&T. I factory reset the phone, I put her AT&T sim card to the phone. Turn it on, the top left corner show Service disabled. And the phone just keep searching for network. So what exactly the problem? I thought the phone was unlocked to able to use any carrier. I put my T-Mobile sim and double checked the phone is permanent unlocked. Can anyone help me? Thank you

Is it possible that you didn't have the right APN's setup for the AT&T sim?

if your referring to Carrier locked, is it locked to what carrier then?
if you put a SIM of the same carrier the phone is locked to, it obviously wont ask you to unlock it!
put in anoter carrier's sim and it will. then enter the code.
No its on tmobile now..if i put the att sim card in it just says no service.

Im not sure at all here but is ATT not on CDMA??
If thats the case then you need to put in a sim of a European carrier (GSM).
yeah sounds right thanks

ATT is GSM
did you test your ATT sim in another phone?
yes its from a working Iphone
Factory reset / data wipe.
This can occasionally assist folks with internal issues with the hardware. It's a common way to approach solving a problem with your device. Consider it, try it, and then go from there before continuing to further with the unlocking process.
Best of luck.

Call VZW and ask.
On ebay it's a ton of services about whitestone unlock, and my problem was an issue on the operating band of GSM for example in the USA you must use 950/1900 on other countries like Costa Rica you need 1800, thanks to all for your help
You should be able to contact VZW and have them unlock it so you can use whatever carrier SIM you have for the country/area you are in. The stock SIM is Vodaphone and I think will only work where Vodaphone service exists. Otherwise make sure the phone is in Global and not CDMA only. Go to the Settings Tab, click Menu then select Phone Network Mode select Network tab.
I called verizon and they gave me codes to unlock both my phones. I slapped an ATT sim into my imagio and it was working on the ATT network, no problem at all.
Hi, where do you enter the sim unlock code on Imagio?
Thanks.

I just got off the phone with Verizon in regard to this.
Below is what I found. The Global Verizon Rep will be happier if you enter the code while you are on the phone with them; they want to verify that it works. It actually took about 10 minutes.
Here is what I found: http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/htc-imagio/138569-how-unlock-verizon-imagio-sim-card.html
If you are going to be traveling abroad or simply want your Imagio to be unlocked its very easy to do and should only take about 3-5 minutes on the phone with Verizon.
Call 1(800)-711-8300 from a different phone, enter your Verizon phone number, then select option 2.
Tell them that you will be traveling abroad and plan to just buy a pre-paid SIM card when you get there, and that you simply need the unlock code for your phone. They will check your account standings, and then give you an 8 digit code.
You need to enter the code in the security section of your phone.
With TF3D...
Start>Settings> All Settings> Personal> Security
Without TF3D Enabled...
Start> Settings> Personal> Security
One you do this, soft reset your phone and you are all done. I can take my work phones SIM card (AT&T), put it in my Imagio, and use my Imagio for work now. I did not test the data yet because I do not have data on my AT&T plan. Although if anyone does this and wants to check it, keep in mind you will have to change the number for the data line. both Sprint and Verizon use #777. I am not sure what AT&T or TMobile use.
I have an Imagio from VERIZON.
I had unlocked the GSM network, Should I Unlock the CDMA network as well if I want to use the CDMA Net work?
or I jus need 1 unlock code for both GSM and CDMA?
So, I will have 2 no. in 1 phone one is injected, and another one is using sim card.
I have tried every code mentioned, in here, that was successful for others but not for me.
I started by buying my Galaxy S4, out right, at Walmart for use on Family Mobile. Poor signal everywhere except in my house. The phone has T-Mobile support as far as towers go. After about three weeks I had my phone number transferred to Straight Talk and they sent a SIM card for use with AT&T support. The phone was purchased as an unlocked phone, I did all the codes in this forum to check and sure enough, it is supposed to be unlocked, BUT, every SIM card I get from Straight Talk gives me "INVALID SIM CARD" when I boot up the phone then a black screen comes on with a subdued color message saying, "Sim network unlock PIN" and all the help from Family Mobile, T-Mobile, Straight Talk, Walmart and AT&T, have not helped my situation. I can't write a new APN and store it because I have an invalid SIM card. I have tried the service mode and did everything mention in these forums but no luck so far.
I really like the device(my NOT-Phone) but it does not function as a phone. Can anyone help with this one?

No warranty in Walmart?!
If it connects to T-Mobile towers out of the box, can you borrow a T-Mobile SIM from soneone and go through the SIM unlock procedure? I'd do that just to make sure it's SIM unlocked. Then try Straight Talk with whatever APNs they use. Do this on stock and once you can confirm you get that far and it's working then go crazy. Good luck.

If I put the original, 1st SIM (Family Mobile) that I bought, back in, I do not get the Unlock Sim code message but I also do not have service because I already had the number ported. I've been that route. I tried the APN routine but it won't save because I don't have service with that SIM card. I go into the unlock routine through the service mode and it says it's already unlocked. Any Sim card from Straight Talk gives me Invalid SIM.
I'm going to return it to Walmart and try another phone.
I picked up a SM-G900L version of the S5 and the clerk told me that it's unlocked and i'll be able to use it in the U.S. without a problem. Is there anyway to verify I won't have any problems (updates etc etc) with the phone once I head back to the states?
Also I rarely see any threads for the G900L version...

Pop in a Tmo or ATT sim and see if it works. I don't believe there is a screen or setting that shows "unlocked".
Edit: You will need to enter the correct APN for these carriers to get data.

Yeah, for me, that's my way to check it, insert SIM card from different carriers.
there is no other way to test this, other than popping in a different SIM?
Hi everyone.
I bought a V20 T-Mobile version H918 on eBay. Seller claims it's carrier unlocked. As a precaution, I bought a $10 Red Pocket prepaid SIM card to test it with (because my current phone is CDMA). First, I tested it with Red Pocket's "GSMA" sim card, which uses AT&T's network. When using this SIM, the phone mostly didn't work. Out of 30 tries, I was only able to make a phone call once. All other times, I got no dial tone. And I wasn't able to receive data at all. APN settings were correct, verified with Red Pocket customer service; also tried many other APNs I found on google, but they made no difference.
Next, after doing a factory reset, I tried Red Pocket's "GSMT" SIM card, which uses T-Mobile's network. When using this SIM, all services including calling, texting, mms, and data work perfectly. Although, despite it working, the phone is using the wrong APN (fast.t-mobile.com). This seems to be a hard default setting, and the phone doesn't allow me to select a different APN while this SIM card is inserted.
Red Pocket tells me that an unlocked phone should work fine with either the "GSMA" or the "GSMT" card. So, their advice, together with the fact that the phone isn't letting me change the APN when on T-Mobile's network, leads me to believe it might not be unlocked. How can I know for sure?
Note: IMEI registers as clean in the database. Also, the IMEI in settings, the one shown by dialing *#06#, and the one on the sticker all match.
Thanks!

If it was locked, I don't think it would have accepted the ATT sim at all. You can try playing around with the Device unlock app, but on the first screen it seems to pretty much always claim its locked for me
On my (pretty sure its unlocked, havn't stuck another sim in it almost since I got it months ago)
H918 that's running on a T-Mobile (proper, not mvno) sim I can freely add and switch between APNs
Keep in mind that the H918 isn't going to be good on ATT's network.

Thanks for the reply. You're saying if it were still locked, it would give an error message with the AT&T SIM?

right, if it were locked, you wouldn't even get 1/30 phone calls to work, you'd get like invalid sim or something. Locked means it wouldn't even try to use the other sim.
Happend to find a video of someone with a simlocked h918 unlocking it, it shows networked locked where the carrier name goes.
