Repairablility question in regards to the screen. - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

So my phone has a slight crack. It's only the glass. When I look on ebay etc for replacements, the glass is affordable. The entire display is 270~. My question is is it possible to replace the glass only? And if so is there anyone who does repairs for a reasonable rate?

[Q] Replacement glass or lcd

Hi, has anyone disassembled omnia 7 screen before? May I know whether the glass and lcd are glued together and whether it is difficult to pry open the screen? (I have pried an ipod touch screen before)
*I just broke my omnia glass and thinking of getting a replacement from ebay but the lcd and glass package is too expensive (>$100) while the glass only is below $20 so I was thicking of getting the glass only.
Thanks
First of all, how the hell did you manage that - it's Gorilla Glass!
There is a tear down of the phone here
Quite complicated and delicate process unless you are familiar with doing this kind of thing.
As for the glass being connected to the digitizer, yes I think they will be stuck together with some sort of glue resin. Probably not the best idea to prise away and try and fit yourself, I suspect you'll be disappointed with a homemade attempt to stick a new pane of glass on.
I actually couldn't find the glass-only on eBay, I could only find the £80+ glass and digitizer items.
Claim it on household insurance, send it back to Samsung or save up the £80?

[Q] Anyone have dust under glass

My screen cracked and i will give it to a service to change the glass, anyone done this and has problem with dust between glass and display?
At the service they told me that it could accumulate in time, a complete set with lcd, digitiser, frame cost almost half of the phone price..

Replacing just front glass and digitizer?

hey i was wondering how difficult it is to replace just the front glass and digitizer on my S7E? mine is cracked at the bottom, the lcd and digitizer are both good, but the crack is getting worse and pieces are flaking off so i feel like if i dont fix it it might end up screwing up the lcd. I can get a glass/digitizer assembly for about 35 bucks, but if i buy this am i going to be able to install it without f*kn up my phone? ive been looking at youtube videos n stuff and pretty much every one i see theyre replacing the whole assembly with the lcd, which is like $200, is it possible to seperate the lcd from the glass/digitizer fairly easily at home? or should i just let it be and not mess with it?
nobody knows?
i guess it depends on your goal. ive tried to replace the front glass in previous phones and it takes a bit of finesse. you have to remove two pieces of glass for the s7 screen replacement to be successful. if money is short and its your only phone. and you need it to be unbroken then id recommend replacing the whole lcd assembly at once. you should be able to find one with the frame already attached so you dont have to worry about actually installing the lcd itself.
but honestly, the phone in great shape and unlocked is only worth around $300. less if its the sprint version. i may have to suffer through these cracks until my next upgrade. or the parts get cheaper.

front glass

Has anyone changed their front glass? I cracked mine, the screen itself is fine but the glass is cracked. Can I change just the glass? I see they sell it
It is possible, but I woudn't recommend doing it. It's a complex procedure that requires specific hardware (a heat gun, 3M tape, etc.) and skill.
Buy a factory-assembled screen + digitizer, it'll save you the hassle.

I can pay a shop $70 to swap the front glass, that way if it breaks they have to fix it, and they have the equipment. Making the repair cost $100. But the whole LCD and digitizer and front is 139.99. I think it looks about $50 cheaper to change just the glass, even with paying the store. I've removed glued on backs. Just not screens, I don't want to break a perfectly good screen to fix cracked outter glass lol

The touchscreen consists in two parts, the digitizer and the screen (AMOLED, in our case). The digitizer is glued to the screen using industrial-grade techniques, resulting in ultra-thin laminated layers of very specific glue stacked between the actual pixels and the glass. These layers maximise reflectance, tune the colours, provide hardness and water-resistance to the screen (amongst other features).
For these reasons, while it is possible to glue the digitizer to the screen at home or in a shop, I would strongly advise against it. On a side note, even the factory-assembled aftermarket touchscreens are of lesser quality than what OnePlus produces.

Replace front glass only ?

Hi everyone !
I dropped my Samsung S10+ last weekend and the front glass broken, but the screen are working fine.
I know that this kind of damage are not covered by Samsung warranty, so I checked with some local repair shop.
No one seem to replace just the glass, their replace the screen and the glass together, this mean, a expensive reparation cost.
I asked them why their don't replace only the glass, but I only receive anwser like 'We don't replace glass, we change the screen who come with the glass"
Do you know why their won't replace the glass only ?
I seen on Amazon some front glass at only 40$ CAD with tool, UV adhesive and lamp. I confortable to do it myself. I watched some videos, but seem that everyone dissasemble the phone completly to change the glass on the screen.
Why not just removing the glass directly ?
Thank you for your anwser !
I think it is because the oled panels in this phones are so thin that separating the front glass from them would break them.
