WiFi low speed - LG G6 Questions and Answers

Hello. Did anyone figured out why LG G6 connect with low speed WiFi? I have Nexus 5x and G6.
I have router Asus RT-N16, both phones are at the same spot and Nexus connect to my WiFi with 144mbps and LG only 57Mbps.
I also try speedtest.
Nexus 5x 88mbps
LG G6 27mbs
My home brodband is 200mbps. http://cloud.tapatalk.com/s/5964d63e56cb7/image1.JPG

The same my H870DS does about half the download speed my N6P do on the same access point 2,4Ghz
Tried different channels.
Most of all it doesn't see 5Ghz wifi unless I manually switch it to upper frequency channels above channel 100

Same issue my old note 4 had 2x faster wifi speed, my home speed 100mbps, on lg only 45, is this just how it is or bug?

Glad to hear it!

So looks like i need new router...

If possible, set new name for SSID 5GHZ and connect Your G6 with new network, I use this trick on my network and this works perfect fine.

I still have this problem.
I have an active 1000mb/s internet service, on LAN, it's usually normal, minimum 700mb/s download.
But the speedtest on my G6 (WiFi) is maximum 45-50mb/s on down/up speed.
I got this phone more than 1 year, i have this issue since first day, but i was not interested about it, cuz u know, 50mb/s is "more" than enough.
I through my router is the problem, cuz it's a "budget" ZTE F668, the internet service provider gave me.
But today I measured a SpeedTest on my WiFi with a Samsung S6 edge mobile, and I got 75mb/s down, and 95mb/s upload speed..... Sooo.. U know, I'm really disappointed. What's actually the problem?

Still can't get 5ghz working reliably, have to use the WiFi Test menu in the service menu to forcefully enable it, and even then it still has worse than normal service...

[Solved?]Poor speeds connecting to Galaxy Nexus LTE WiFi hotspot

I am currently tethering my Nexus 4 to a Verizon Galaxy Nexus. I get a solid 45 mbps down in my area on Verizon, but when I create a WiFi hotspot and connect my Nexus 4 to the WiFi, I get a maximum of 1 mbps down (I can get up to 10mbps up sometimes). Does anyone know why that is? I've literally tried everything. I've tried different roms on BOTH phones, different combinations of kernels, different combinations of tethering apps...I cannot get anything above 1 mbps down. I know there's nothing wrong with the WiFi chip on either phones, they can connect to my home router and get expected speeds. I can connect my Nexus 7 and my laptop to my Gnex and get great speeds, so I don't know why the Nexus 4 is having problems!
If anyone could offer any suggestions or anything, please don't hesistate to post. I am at a total loss!
Possibly solved, see here
Do you have a tethering option inn the Galaxy Nexus? Maybe Verizon has you flagged. Try tethering your laptop and see what those speeds are.

Here's straight from my galaxy nexus, this is what would be ideal:
This is what my Nexus 7 gets:
This is what my Nexus 4 gets:
So I think it's definitely something with my nexus 4. I'm at work now without access to my laptop, but I don't anticipate any problems with that as opposed to my tablet.
Although I could be completely wrong, while using Wi-Fi tethering to share files across devices(using Wi-Fi explorer), the max I get is around 1mbps. Perhaps the limitation lies in tethering feature, and I'm not aware of any workaround
EDIT: Just saw the nexus 7 screenshot, I'm wrong

Anyone have any ideas? Even ideas for further troubleshooting or where I van post the problem so Google can address it?
Bump, does anyone else have another phone they can tether to and post their results?
Update and possible fix:
After updating my Nexus 4's kernel to faux's latest beta, I am happy to report that I am getting better speeds. I'm not at work right now, I am in a lower coverage area where my Verizon LTE speeds are lower, but I am now able to get speeds that are well within expectations!

Nexus 5x T-Mobile speeds

I have to admit, after ordering my Nexus 5x i was a little worried thinking the lack of Band 12 til T-Mobile/Google gets it sorted out was going to give me crap signal. Boy was I wrong! [emoji1] Obviously this is all relative to location, but I couldn't be happier with these results and willing to wait for official Band 12 support.

While I don't see speeds that high, I do agree on being pleasantly surprised with the 5X speeds on T-Mobile. I get considerable higher speeds than I did on my Moto X 2014, and LTE signal in a couple places the Moto would drop to edge. Considering Moto has a reputation for having some of the best radios, I was happy to see a noticeable signal increase with the 5X.
T-Mo user here as well. I have to say this is the strongest radio I have had in a phone yet. I even get a signal in my basement without band 12. Well done LG.
I´ve seem similar results on att. Much faster than any previous phone i've had.
It's also nice how the phone can take voice calls over LTE without falling back to H or H+. Can browse the web wile on hold

Has speedtest app been updated in the last 2-3 years?

H0tep, it was just updated last week.
I'm getting similar speeds on Sprint when I'm at work. At home though, i get about 1/3 that.

Well, my Verizon only gets 68.47M download speed. so sad
Since I moved my SIM from my Moto X Pure Edition to the 5x I've only been able to get a connection of 5mb down and .50mb up. Not sure what it could be

T-Mobile GPRS settings

That's the name I'm seeing on my device and under in small print it says
Fast. T-Mobile. Com my data speeds are 1-3mbps normally see 35+ . I called T-Mobile to no avail. I thought GPRS WAS 2G?

I'm pretty sure that as long as the APN settings are correct, it doesn't matter what the actual APN is named. Are you on an unlimited plan and if so do you consume a lot of data each month? They may have slowed you down temporarily if you're in your area's peak hours.
I have same settings but it's LTE, that's the proper setting. Worry not the name

Ok thank you all and I'm on unlimited but have been on WiFi.. I know my note 4 pulls 35+ down but this nexus is barely getting 1mbps.... Customer service tried to say unlocked devices may not receive the same speeds etc

Its rare that a Customer Rep would know the correct answer, you'll get 10 different answers from 10 Rep's!
I changed my apn from default to the Nexus 6 settings....a quick Google search will take you to the T-Mobile support page. Haven't had an issue, except sometimes mms doesn't send, and I'll get duplicate messages especially from my girlfriend's iPhone 6s plus

T-Mobile speed issue

So start off by saying I have the 10gb plan but I only have used about 1gb of my data . when I put my phone to gsm/lte auto my speeds are **** I mean like super low but when I put the radio to gsm only which makes it hspa+ its about 5 Mbps. So my question is why is lte slower then hspa+ heres some pictures with speed test of hspa+ and lte

I've noticed some LTE speed issues as well on the 6p when connected to band 4. Somewhat tower dependant as well..but anyways upload is often weaker then other devices including the 5x side by side. It's almost as the 6p throttles of around 10mbs whereas other devices get the full 30 Megs. My suspicion is it has something to do with t-mobile's configuration on their end and the qualcom 810 chip in the 6p.
In your case I wonder if you are connecting to band 12 as it has limited capacity anyways. You can check with the LTE discovery app.

X performance vs. Xperia X signal strength antenna

I just received the Xperia X (usa version). When I go into a specific building that has bad reception my Xperia Z5 always was able to work fine and get internet. The Xperia X won't receive calls and the internet just hangs. Does the X Performance have a better signal strength and antenna or is this just an anomaly of the Xperia X?

X has cat6. Perofrmance has cat9.
However that's a speed connectivity comparison & not necessarily a connection advancement, I maybe wrong.

I've XP and z3c,XP has significant worse signal strength than z3c, I'm using z3c again and will not go back to XP. It's really first time I'm too disappointed with Sony. Probably my last ever
I just made a test today, in network settings i set in favorit network wcdma instead of LTE and it work better, less gsm lost. This test make me mind it's a software issue... I hope !

I'm having the same issue with the LTE reception on my x performance.
Most of the time i get no bars at all. And mobile data is a lot slower than my galaxy s5 before.
Is this issue confirmed or solved by the last firmwares?
Thanks

I am pretty disappointed by the performance of this Sony X "Performance" regarding signal strength.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S6 next to it at a window and the X Performance gets a regular 60% slower performance than the S6 next to it that was released a year before.
I have tried it with both T-Mobile and AT&T in the same location.
I believe it to be a software issue at this point. Why do Sony phones these days have these terrible game ending problems?
