Below are screenshots of my SOT (using Slim ROM and Faust Kernel). The SOT measured with PCMark "Work 2.0 battery life" test. I started the test when the battery was at 85%, and it stopped automatically when the battery reached 20%. Everything else was running as normal - lots of WhatsApp messages coming in (no popups) and even an incoming phone call (which I didn't answer).
Adaptive brightness is enabled, with the brightness level set at 40%. The test ran overnight (note that the screen is on, and active the whole time - basically, it keeps running all sorts of benchmarks over and over again, with the screen redrawing continuously).
Result: from 85% to 20% took 11 hours and 54 minutes. This equates to about 17 hours SOT .
Can you try that with AospExtended ROM V4.4 and with the same kernel?

Nope. I am quite happy with Slim, and I have no intention to change it any time soon.

Outside of battery benchmarks, how long was your SOT?
Everybody has different user scenarios & different methods of using a phone.
This SOT of yours is not using mobile data network, only WiFi, correct?
Try to do a test using LTE or WCDMA only, without WiFi and share the result with us.
Cheers!
Faust Kernel with governor tweaks on the newest RR build and i can easily get 10 hours of SOT, sometimes 12 hours
As already indicated, everything was running as normal (which includes WiFi, bluetooth, and LTE enabled), and the PCMark battery test was running on top of it all. Performance benchmarks running non-stop for 12 hours on a phone is objective enough for me. YMMV.
I've been playing around for a few days now to find a good balance between battery and a good performance. LineageOS 14.1 with Vulcan kernel, currently at 8h SOT with 35% battery left. I usually just install a kernel and let it run on defaults so still learning what things do.
In Miui with Velvet, is not precisely SoT (actually it is because how the hell am i suppose to play with the screen off lol) but i'm really surprised to see how long the battery lasts even playing games.
Yes i was on Wi-Fi all the time but still... i would test LTE but i don't have , i just go up to 3G .

I am not sure what you mean. I simply installed the Faust kernel. AFAIK, there were no settings (I don't use Faust anymore, so I don't know whether settings are added later). Sorry, but I don't know what you mean by "SS".

Does anyone know? My guess is MCR or Enom... but I can't be positive. Anyone?

Can you put this in context though? What was your battery life like previously? What ROMs have you used? What kernel are you using? Where can you even get 5.0.6?
Yeah battery life has to be tested to a standard method one good way to test would be to play a movie with the volume at Max with high brightness or transferring one big file over wifi for a period of time and see how fast it drains. This will act as a stress test and will bring comparisons a lot faster and more efficiently.

The one that doesn't allow you to turn on the phone. Battery lasts for weeks!
In all seriousness, using stock rom gives me a very good battery life now, lasting more than a day with almost everything on, 2 push emails, full brightness and all 3G.
CM 5.0.6 T2. so far ive got a full day of usage out of this rom with 3G all day. setcpu profiles enable. Gtalk, Twitter, Emailing. 5 or more phone calls 15 min each. Two app downloads from market.
But if i was just going to play and show off i had use Enom rom and its far by the best. for battery life. CM 5.0.5 i didnt get great battery life. i could leave my phone over night 100% and wake up to it on 80%-70% or so. with nothing in the background
An undervolted CM 5 may give you a better battery life...
Waiting for 5.0.6...
Cyanogen 5.0.6 is far and away the best ROM I've used, power wise.
Up to 5.0.5.4 I was seriously considering getting rid of my N1, as the battery would lose 80% in less than 10 hours, just sitting on standby combined with less than an hour's worth of web browsing.
5.0.6 is much better, and I'm still showing 50% after 16 hours.
Still not a patch on my old Nokia 5800, which went 3 days at a time on a single charge, but at least I have the confidence to actually use my N1 now...
I'm sorry I call BS on anyone who claims they use their phone AND get more than a day battery life. Until someone is willing to give me a Nandroid backup to restore to my phone to see what it is that is running and prove that their programs and background processes make for a 20+ hr battery, I don't buy it.
I'm off the charger since 8am and am down to 91%... it is ridiculous. I'm on an AVS kernel and Enom with not much running in the background.

Is that aimed at me?
I have a Facebook widget, along with the standard news and weather widget running, and email (NOT the Google mail app) set to refresh every 15 minutes.
I use the browser (on 3G/HSDPA) for up to an hour, here and there, and about the same on wi-fi at home.
GPS is always on, Wi-Fi and bluetooth only on when required.
The Last.fm app also gets used for up to an hour, although not every day.
Couple this with the odd phone call and text message.
The above would see my battery down to less than 20% after about 10 hours, and was really annoying.
The past few days, when I went to bed the battery was hovering around the 50% mark - although I've not used Last.fm this week.
Of course, this may not meet YOUR definition of phone usage, but it certainly isn't BS...

Hello Guys ! After reading up about the issues with the Nougat Official updates i wanted to give custom roms a chance.
However , the experience with Custom ROMS over the years have made me realise , Battery backup is never the same on a custom ROM compared to the Stock firmware.
Can people who tried out different ROMS and Kernels , suggest which rom or ROM+Custom Kernel combination gives Stock like Battery performance ??
Eagerly waiting for you replies so that i can get flashing..
Thanks in Advance
Your help is much appreciated
In every Nougat custom ROM battery is almost the same as stock. You have simply to choose the best for you.
I personally have AospExtended with Optimus r21 and I'm happy with it

Any specific Governor settings in the Optimus R21 kernel ??
And do you use dual sims in 4G ?
Any other Misc Settigns you do ?
What about the Standby time and SOT that you generally get ??
Thanks in advance BRO
I prefer "sis" eheh
Anyway, my kernel settings: BIG cluster max freq set to 1.6Ghz instead of 1.7 (I don't need any overclock), min freq to 345Mhz and Little cluster max to 1.1Ghz and min to 499Mhz, both clusters on Optimus governor. I left the other settings to r21 original.
I have a european single-SIM device, so no...
For the rest, all il stock, I haven't any battery friendly script, I believe in my Moto X Play, I don't want to mutilate it.
In Wi-Fi I reach 8h of SOT, I can stand 2 days without charge it in normal use. In LTE mode, almost 5-6 hours if I go out with a normal use, I can't tell you with a heavy use... when I'm out I don't use the phone so much also I have a tedious mobile radio active bug (that seem affect only me and maybe a couple of other users, I'm investigating) so previously in LTE I reached also 6-6.30h of SOT

I am on Aosp extended since it's version 3.3
Right now, I'm on version 4.3
No custom kernel.
If SOT is what you want to know, for me it's between 4 to 5 hours.
Dual sim with one on 4g and second on 2g.
Data remains on whole day.
Extermely stable. Just like stock MM.
If you don't want to use root or themes, maybe it will be more stable for you.

I'm on Resurrection Remix (Official) and has some little bugs in the movements on locked screen (camera and led torch don't work as expected). Another thing is if u open camera by lock screen can't close it (navbar is blocked), the way is re lock the phone and then get to the pattern screen again.
The SOT is about 3-4h on 70% time in WiFi and 30% mobile data (4G/LTE)
About battery in general there is some screen shots: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B_XlbO-BACx0bmRHc0R1dDcyQ3M
I will change my ROM because the dev (GtrCraft) discontinued the RR (see his message on the post)... So I think it's hour to test another.

Thanks a ton K.Khiladi.. those stats are impressive ... I would try this rom for sure..
My usage is mostly erratic... I am in office fro almost 7-8 hours when the phone just lies dead in pocket and when office is over i use phone services like location data and what not .. So basically i needed a ROM that has minimal drain while in the pocket and good SOT when i use my device actively for short burst of periods.... I know its always a trade off between SOT and Standby . Thanks for your advice

So, I flashed AOSP Extended last night... It's the best so far (just tried two ROM's yet), no bugs found by now. The torch light and camera movements works fine and I liked it.
When I completely test it perhaps make a review (maybe post here in XDA, if rules accept it).

The standby drain is okay for me.
A tip is go to the system settings > "Extensions" > "System" > "General Tweaks" > "Suspend Actions"
Then enable it...
My settings are:
Screen off delay: 5s
Screen on: 5s
Switch to 2G: Enabled
Disable Mobile Data: Disabled
Disable GPS: Enabled
This is doing magic in standby and the best part is enabling this don't make u losing any notification, they work fine here.
As you all know the final version of Android 9.0 (PR) was recently ported to Xiaomi Mi A1 by taking advantage of Project Treble. Although there are more than one Kernels out there with Treble support, there is no thread to actually compare them. So if you have tried this port, please write down your experience with the Kernel you used.
Iam using the Custom Rom Treble non OC Kernel from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a1/development/kernel-extreme-kernel-1-0-mi-a1-t3769702
With that i get the most Battery life out. About 2 Day´s without charging and mostly reading News, Texting with Whats App, and Listening much Music.
So not much intensive and no Gaming.
Last Charge was before 16 hours and 5 Days are left, because i do nothing with the Device =P

But back to SOT it is now 54min. Last charge was 41 hours ago and i have left about 1 Day and 17 hours :fingers-crossed:
So next charge maybe at least 20% in the next evening.

Oh, I'm currently on 8.1 Liquid Remix ROM and honestly don't remember what exactly I tweaked. I've used Kernel Adiutor, changed few thing regarding CPU, disabled Fsync, enabled one CPU when screen is off, Schedule workqueues on awake CPUs, that much I can remember. I am not heavy user, just listening music on Youtube Vanced app, using social media apps, browsing the web with Brave etc... Getting 2 days without charge with 5-6hrs of sot and about 10% battery left.
Right now I didn't change anything on Liquid Remix and battery life is still amazing compared to Moun or Mint kernels. eXtreme just gives great results without tweaking anything
good news! Someone at xiaomi reddit directory said the version 12.0.3.0 fixed their battery problem.
so i bit the bullet and installed, and bingo!
2% batery use in 6 hours of sleep! (200mah consumption)
no other changes made. rooted, unlocked, gazillions of apps installed (and fully xiaomi-debloated)
will test SOT now
I have mixed results, I've update to this version 2 weeks ago, I'm on Pilot Program (Beta tester) and for few day got a better batter performance in idle, but then some Xiaomi Apps were updated and the drain started . Notice I'm using the alpha version for the launcher and also I'm using the last version for the App Vault. So I'm not sure if one of this apps caused the drain. 2 days ago I've update some apps and idle consume improved a lot. Share with us your SOT.
i got almost all xiaomi-related apps removed/disabled, only staying essential ones for proper android usage.
app vault is removed and i use nova launcher

i think percentage right after unplug is not consistent (stay a while at 100%) and below show a different % usage from main battery %
you are right, shoud be 5%.
but calculating by the mah, is 5 days in stand-by
before, android system alone would consume entire battery in 3 days
testing SOT, full battery, started a 2 hour movie. mxplayer, HW decoding, max brigthness, high volume
2 hour later, 78% battery.
so, most likely, 8~9h SOT, at least in this test. will test more when i get free time from work.
Edit: 2h20m using reddit, medium screen brigthness, 20% battery decrease
will let run 1080p youtube video running fullscreen (at half brightness) until battery is dead

bought my first OnePlus ever a week ago but I get like 5 hours of Screen On Time, while I saw here on xda people getting even 10 hours with 120 Hz.
Running latest stock ROM, not rooted because I actually don't need root.
FHD+ 120Hz, no AOD.
Factory reset done, Wipe Cache done.
I'm not gaming, using my phone for Chrome, WhatsApp and Social Media (not 24/7).
Any tips for me?
I kinda do like the phone and may keep it, but I hate to say that my 3 years old P20 Pro still gets 6-8h SOT. I know, display is better on 8Pro but still...
I dont have a problem installing custom ROM and custom Kernel if that's gonna get me towards those 8+ hours SOT.
If installing custom ROM, I still need my banking apps working/safe, if that's maybe not the case.
Thanks!
Stay on latest OOS, root and use a custom kernel

But with root my Banking Apps may not work right? Paypal/Crypto/etc. may not work or be safe either or?
I already tried debugging with GSAM Battery Monitor and noticed that Google Play Services wakes the device pretty often but somehow doesnt use much % Power. Google Play Services has also the highest Sensor Time of all apps.
Any tips on that one?
And also, which Kernel? Bluspark?
Turn auto brightness off if on; then set brightness low.... See if it helps.

I don't use auto brightness and I use brightness at like 35-45%. So that shouldn't be an issue either. Thanks for the tip though.

Just got the 8 Pro also ... brand new. Noticing battery drain as well. I lost 10 % overnight. Are you seeing similar drain?

It will take few days to settle up but still, with stock OOS it was bad.
I flashed LineageOS + Magisk + Radioactive Kernel and I am still testing it out but it doesnt seem to be much better than stock. Maybe a bit but no way of reaching 8 hours SOT.
I'd suggest try something else and report here, so I can test it out too.
I was thinking of testing PixelExperience and/or Stock rooted OOS with custom Kernel but I'll give a LineageOS a chance 2-3 days more.

Thanks. I just installed Omega Kernel and that seems to have made a slight difference.
Do you use AccuBattery by chance? My estimated capacity is 3855 mAh ~ design capacity is reading correct @ 4510 mAh. Not sure how accurate this is, but it would mean that the battery isn't what it should be or received a used device / defective battery?

How can you flash Havoc | Custom Roms without TWRP? Where can I find Havoc? I didn't see in the custom ROMS / Kernels section.

How's Havoc battery life after a day? I added Naptime and am using the Magisk Module GMS Doze. My overnight drain dropped from 10% to 7%, which is still way too high. I am using xXx No Limits as well.

I haven't set my phone fully yet because i wanted to try the Rom out. I have now "only" Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Discord and few smaller apps logged in but that's it. I don't know about standby drain but I'm now at 51% battery with 4hours screen on which means it's better but still no chance of reaching 10 hours. 7 hours should be reachable right now
