Why are some notifications not opening their apps? - LG V20 Questions & Answers

For some reason some apps, particularly The Score and Twitter do NOT open when I touch their respective notifications from the notification bar. Any suggestions or ideas?

[Q] some app notifications do not appear in my notifications tray

LG g2 stock 4.4.2 kot49i.vs98024a
not rooted, bootloader locked.
got 2 new G2 phones, one has the problem the other is on 4.2.2 and does not.
when i get notifications, some apps keep the notification in the notification tray, like they should. however many apps do not, eg sms, whatsapp, gmail...
i completely miss out on the notification, nothing appears. some apps have popup screens like whatsapp and the stock sms app, but if i close the popup window there is no notification remaining behind.
ive checked all the settings and cannot get notifications to appear.
help please.

Dismissing Notifications

When I get app notifications for things like text messages or emails, entering the app directly and opening the corresponding message does not dismiss the notifications from the notification center. Is this normal behavior? I thought Lollipop did, but I could be mistaken. I either have to swipe the notification off, or click it to open the app to dismiss it.
I noticed the same, found it irritating and I got way to many notifications from all sorts of stuff, App's and OS. Eventually I disabled all notifications. The phone already makes a sound so i don't need any visuals.
I am getting the same issue, any fix/ workaround to get rid of the notifications?
In my case this seems to depend on the application. Whatsapp does this annoying thing, while Gmail and Inbox do not. I think that most apps are not yet updated properly for Marshmallow support.

Best Texting App?

I've come to realize that my default Messaging App on my Samsung Galaxy S4 seems to be causing a lot of lags lately. (That or my keyboard).
I've tested out a few Messaging Apps (Go Pro, Texter, Google Messenger, etc) but I find they're not as good as the default S4 Messenger.
Tried Texter, which is great! But when you get a text, it shows up in your notifications, but when you swipe the notification to clear the notification bar, it counts the swipe as a read message (wtf??).
Also, unlike the default messenger, it doesn't have an unread messages on the icon. So you actually have to open the app the see if you have any unread messages.
Any fixes or suggestions for better messaging apps? Or a way to update the current default app?
It would probably be easier if you'd enumerate some features you'd want said app to have.
Those unread badges are a feature of the launcher, not the texting app. Or rather, I myself have not seen any messaging app with that feature included.
As to why it doesn't work with other apps, it's probably because the default launcher only supports the default app.
In other words, you need another launcher to have those on other apps, but most launchers offer this as a premium feature only.
Also, I believe that, for some apps, it matters which way you swipe away the notification.
e.g., Swipe right - mark as read; Swipe left - just clear it.

Notifications won't automatically disappear

Notifications like new mails from the e-mail app won't automatically dissapear after I read them/tap the notification from the notification bar. They only disappear after I swiped the notification away.
Is this normal Touchwiz behavior? Can I make the notifications automatically disappear after opening the respective app?
