i have a big problem: I am on stock rom, used twrp 59 to flash supersu and to do my first nandroid backup some days before. All was working fine.
Then i noticed, that there is an system update Oxygen OS 4.5.5. I downloaded it in OTA updater and sytem booted to twrp. I know, that i cannot flash OTA Updates, but i want to try what happens. It happens nothing and i booted back to system. Then i downloaded the 4.5.5 full rom and want to flash it via recovery. First i want to make a nandroid backup and then the s*** happend: I could not see my TWRP Backup, which i make the days before, i could not flash the rom or any zip, i cannot wipe dalvik/cache (mount issue), i cannot find my download folder.... i booted back to system and downloaded latest stable TWRP (62), i flashed it via fastboot... same results.... then i want to go back to system and system does not boot anymore... that is the biggest problem at all... it stucks on the two little white rings which circle around the red spot on black screen.... in this board i read something about decryption... Ok... i type my passwort for decryption in TWRP and it seems, that i can get to all my files on my sd card in twrp.... but there was a issue "Faild to mount cache!!"...
And there is still the issue when i want to wipe cache/dalvik or to flash the fuff zip (not able to mount - invalied argument)... and system does not boot up anymore.... what can i do????
i have no Idea.... thanks for your help!!!!
if you can flash stock recovery then you should be able to boot to recovery [stock] and fix it from there.
Use the twrp before. That Mount issue should be gone

So I completely wiped my Nexus 4 yesterday (everything but internal storage) and clean-installed the 12/29 CM13 nightly + nano Gapps. Everything was working great, installed a bunch of apps from Google Play, etc.
Then this morning I booted to recovery and installed SuperSU 2.46 via recovery zip flash (not via the app), which appeared to flash successfully/with no errors (plus I now see a supersu directory at the root level of my device).
I then rebooted and got stuck at the boot animation. Went back to recovery, wiped dalvik cache and regular cache, rebooted, and I'm still stuck at the boot animation. Reflashed the zip and then wipes dalvik/cache, still stuck.
Any ideas on (a) how to fix without rewiping-reflashing, and (b) how to get root on CM13? Thanks!
EDIT: Forgot to mention my bootloader is unlocked and I have TWRP recovery.
EDIT2: Appears to be solved. I simply deleted the "/supersu" directory in the TWRP file manager and it now boots fine. Unsure if it screwed up hidden stuff, but I didn't have to wipe my system partition, which is a win in my book.
You don't need SuperSU on CM since it has root acces integrated, you just need to enable it under developer options. Format system, cache/dalvik and reflash cm13 and gapps.
Well ****. Looks like I needed to use the newer beta versions of "systemless" SuperSU, like 2.56 or 2.61 for Android 6/CM13.
I wasn't aware that installing 2.46 would cause me to get stuck at bootup, though! That sucks. Still looking for a solution.
Ah I wasn't aware of that. Thanks!
I deleted the /supersu directory, reflashed the 12/29 nightly, wiped caches, and the phone got past the boot animation and booted normally. I'll reboot a few times and see if things are OK.
Saved me from having to format system yet again and redo everything.
Install 2.56b Beta thats working coz it uses systemless ROOT
Do not install 2.56b , because you won't be able to install 2.60+ supersu after that without reflashing system. Install 2.65 beta. It's stable and tested on cm13. I use it myself.
Thank you so much for this - I flashed 2.46 on cm13 on my motog3. I thought I'd lose all my data since I have device encryption and an external sd formatted as internal storage (which is unsupported in twrp for the moto3g, so it isn't accessible for backing up).
I just reflashed the rom and cleared cache and it's back to normal, encryption was fine, all my data is here, and the external sd card functions as well. Saved my ass.
I tried this and it didn't work. I installed supersu while on CM13 and it got stuck at the boot animation of CM. I deleted the /supersu directory reflashed the newest nighlty rom and wiped caches but still stuck at boot animation. I'm on TWRP btw
Doesn't cm13 have an option to enable root under developer settings?
I was on 10T official. I decided to unlock bootloader, I followed the guide, I my storage was unencrypted...
I have unlocked bootloader and then installed TWRP 3.1.1.
After a boot, I have installed a Stock modified ROM (Fulmics ROM 2.0).
After reboot, the phone is stuck on LG logo, and after minutes it reboots and stucks on LG logo and the reboot...... etc etc
Entering TWRP again, it says my Data is encrypted and asks me for the password.
I have formatted Data, and reinstalled Fulmics ROM, but, same problem. Stuck on LG logo. Now entering TWRP there is no partition encrypted... but...
What should I do now?
Reinstall stock using LGUP

Restore the official firmware with LGup, install again the TWRP, make a format data (format, not wipe), install whatever you want to get twrp stuck (SuperSU, magisk ECC...), Reboot system, then reboot in twrp, manually or by a rebooter app, wipe system, data, cache and dalvik, install fulmics with your favourite aroma settings, after that reboot recovery, flash the 2.1 ota, and reboot system.
Now wait some minutes, it'll reboot again once, it's normal, when happens just wait again for some minutes, and it should boot normally.
I've installed this rom a bunch of times (for a bunch of reasons) and never had Bootloop problems doing this.
Good luck:good:
Thanks, stock firmware like this one? https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g6/development/rom-h870-10f-rom-imgs-kdz-t3615183
And in LGUP should I do anything particular? Or just reinstall kdz?
Then, should I format only Data partition or also system or others?
You can decrypt data through fastboot

Here it is the kdz: https://lg-firmwares.com/download-file/?fileId=10110
Just reinstall the kdz with upgrade option.
You have only to format data (not wipe, remember).
Thanks, worked!
Mmm... No, I was able to reinstall stock rom, but then, when I try to format Data I get error like "Failed to unmount /system (Device or resource busy)" and then "Failed to mount /data", "Unable to recreate /data/media folder...
And also when I install Magisk I have those errors... (Failed to mount system and data).
Booting up, stock rom is ok, and also Magisk, so phone is rooted.
But when I reboot to recovery and I install fulmics rom, it seems to install correctly, it shows a final error of mount system and when I boot I still have stock rom, without Magisk or fulmics settings... so It is not installed fulmics rom! Tomorrow I will try another time. By now I keep stock rom rooted. Anyway I'm happy to see how easy is to reinstall stock rom.

Try to download twrp from the official twrp post. There are some problems with twrp /system mount. Then format data and install magisk the first time.

I downloaded the official one from twrp.me version 3.1.1.0 2017-06-30. Is there any new beta/modded twrp to install?

In my case the official twrp from twrp.me had the problem of unable to mount system. I read all the twrp Guide from LG G6 in rom, recovery root section and I read that had some problems and they posted an usefull twrp. Try downloading twrp from these post.
I've installed experimental TWRP over official TWRP posted here https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=73071238&postcount=228 and works, no more mount error.
Now I have installed Fulmics rom. I'm happy!
Thanks to all
Hi,
I have a rooted OP5 with 4.5.13.
I tried to install the flashable zip (from here) via TWRP without wipe, but ended up in a bootloop.
I've restored to the nandroid backup, wiped data, and tried again. This time the OP5 managed to boot only to recovery.
I've verified the md5 of the file I've used.
Do you know why this is happening? Do you know how I can upgrade to 4.5.14?
Thanks.
Did you download the full ROM or just the update?
I tried both. I didn't succeeded to install the update (as it is not intended for rooted devices).
The full rom is what caused the bootloop.
If you are doing a dirty flash you wipe cache and system. If you are doing a clean flash you wipe cache, system and data. It doesn't sound like you wiped the correct partitions when doing your flash. You also need to flash Magisk or SU after the ROM flash and before booting up or you will lose TWRP and root. If your phone is decrypted for some reason you also need to flash a no verify zip or your phone will boot loop because OOS is made for encrypted phones.
Before going into the subject, I'll say that I have tried to seach this matter in XDA and Google, but nothing showed up.
Okay, so my matter is that I can't restore my backup of stock rom(8.0) after I flash a 8.1 rom. I've backuped with official TWRP "recovery-3.2.1-2-oreo.img".
My procedures are :
back up stock 8.0(system, data, cache, efs) with official TWRP "recovery-3.2.1-2-oreo.img"
flash oreo rom(with wiping internel, data, system, cache) and boot it fine.
restore my stock backup with same TWRP
boot system
The results are :
Goes past boot logo
Boot animation('android one' with colors sliding) shows up
and... just infinite loop of boot animation.
The ROM I used is RR.
I think the main problem is related with encryption.... Just my thought, tho.
So what I'm asking is :
1. If you face the same problem as me?
2. If you aren't and you restore goes fine, please tell me your procedures including ROM used and TWRP used.
3. Whether it is safe to decrypt stock rom?
Thanks in advance!
You don't need to flash stock ROM again. You have a system image backup(system, data, cache, efs), right? Wipe data , system, cache if you are coming from any other ROM. Then reboot to bootloader. Boot into latest TWRP from Fastboot (don't flash). Then go to restore and restore the system image you had backed up. Don't restore efs if you haven't lost your IMEI.
I've done exactly as ypu told, but it doesn't boot...
Did you manage to restore without problem with your method?
Yes I was able to. No problem here.
What TWRP did you use? Also, what ROM have you flashed?
Used the latest TWRP by MohanCM for Oreo. I did it when I was on Lineage os and wanted to go to stock
@guy_infinity Okay, thanks for your answer! Gonna try out later, once more.
Hmmm.... Still didn't boot up.
I thought I had to do everything from the begining, but flashing stock with save userdata option rescued me.
P.S. does anyone know about the error E: recv error on uevent?
try flashing stock rom using mi flash and after flashing restore normally using latest twrp/deadman's without system image voila everything will be back
@arjunbalan1994 Big thanks for your suggestion! Will try that too later
Hi, did you solve your restore problem? I have the same w/ my Redmi Note 5 and stock Miui backup after flashing RR.
Thanks for your help
I was use 8.1 root and twrp recovery. Yesterday fastboot flash may rom and update 2nd may OTA
Don't understand : May rom is Miui rom?
And did you restore your miui rom 8.0 backup ith twpr after the fastboot flash stock?
I was trying to install a custom ROM, the first thing that should've made me stop is the fact i couldn't install TWRP and i only could boot from one specific img.
Anyways i proceeded, wiped everything, as always no backup, because YOLO, but this time TWRP didn't install the zip (zip file format error), the custom recovery i can boot from seem to be bad or something. Then i tried to install stock to get my phone to work, but it cannot install anything, /data is weirdly mounted, using the whole disk and leaving no space for other partitions.
Anyone has an idea? or do i have a brick for a phone now?
