Samsung Internet app in black background colour? - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

As title says, is there any way too get black version / black background when surfing the web, too preserve more battery life. I dont see any option within app that could do that? (like Google crome has it)

So presuming no replies cause its not possible?

i mean private mode kind of does that but not to the extent where it would just turn the pixels completely off. I know that themes don't skin the Internet app so I'm guessing only through root.

[THINKTANK] Inverted Colors for WebBrowsing

I'm sure you all know our Vibrant's SUPERAMOLED uses much less/no power when dysplaying black and a TON of power when having to dysplay white pixels.
You also all know that most websites are white with black text. My idea is to invert this in browsers such as DolphinHD, the default Android Browser, and whatever other browsers there are.
How would it work? Ideally as a browser plug in (DolphinHD already supports addons) that inverts background color on websites if it detects white and inverts text color to white. It would NOT touch any other color nor the images, video, animations on websites. Just the static background would be black if it's white by default and the text would be white.
That way, a lot of power will be conserved, even on full screen brightness.
Since I do not have the time or expertise to do this, I am just offering the idea for a dev to look into if interested.
Good idea but what about black within photos and such? that'd be insane.
Umm...Inverting colors in photos would just ruin the pictures I think.
I was talking about making the addon look for the html/php/etc tags that specify color for the background and text of a page upon load and alter them before passing it to the browser to load.
Just change the white background to black, and white text to black. No need to invert colors.
Some one must be able to do this... come on!
Looking desperately for the same funcionality!
I think that is a great Idea, I was thinking about that. In the app youverison
It's a bible app. They have a low light setting, turns background black and font white.. I was thinking how great that would be for web browsing.. it seems like an impossible task.
Somebody posted a thread about this a while back. I would love to see oit done, easier on the eyes as well as battery. Steel had this option for one version a while back, or it might have been Dolphin, so it can be done. Adilko and most of the Ereaders have this functionality.

I am using Galaxy S I9000 and I would love such an app. One of my favt website popurls.com is one such site, uses black background and blue text. Also Blackle is a website which is Google Search with black background. Gr8 idea. Wish some developers are reading it.
There should b a quick button for inverting the colors. So that it can b turned off when not required.
I got in touch with the DolphinHD team, and feedback looks promising. Probably I will write the add-on myself so stay tuned!
Thread moved to General.
Have you tried using cyanogen's screen rendering app? You can choose to render the screen in different colors my G1 has it. I can render the screen in red. I haven't seen this porter to the vibrant though.

I created a bookmarklet to invert colors for people using the stock browser, and perhaps more... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=17149892#post17149892

yeah, i acknowledge that in the linked post... unfortunately no complete CM7 yet for Epic4G. hopefully this helps out somebody else like me still running modded stock roms.

any current roms have this feature?

hi all, looking for a rom for my N7 that can change the display to only display red for when i use sky safari on it while out stargazing. (red helps protect night vision) on my nexus one with CM7 it has render effects settings screen where you can change the color of the whole os to basic colors etc. any roms out for the N7 that can do this globally as well? and before you say it yes sky safari has this feature inside, problem is unlock screen does not as well as say accidentally hitting home etc. one bright flash of white light and you loose dark adaptation for 5-10 even 20 min so its kind of important and most people go the easy simple route of putting red cellophane on their screens, but if i can get around that and i know its possible to i would like to.

google skymap has a night view mode built in.

apparently sky safari has a night view mode built in also, look for it in the settings.

yeah sky safari has it, and it also has a setting to keep the device from sleeping because the problem is the lock screen and any other screen you might accidentally pull up will not be a dim red light and will instantly damage night vision if pulled up. anyways i rooted my N7 and took at look at a few roms and so far have not found one with this feature. looks like it was put into CM7 for the potential power savings due to the screen on the nexus one as well as many other phones being AMOLED. on tablets with LCD's theres no savings to be had so nobody's implemented it into a JB rom so far.
Tasker might do what you need. You make a profile to do things like dim screen brightness, change wallpapers, dim/kill LED notifications, etc. Set it to trigger when you open your Skymap app & your light sensor senses that it is dark (I don't know what that setting looks like).
This app has astronomers moder for the red tint.

Auto adjust screen tone

Hi all,,
Are you able to see any kind of changes when this option is turned on?
I have searched, everywhere is written that white colours are more dimm etc.. but for me, when I flip for example from dark i-net page to Google page, I dont see any difference.
Sometimes, my screen goes dimmer while I am browsing i-net, but thats only sometimes. Shouldnt this work permanently? Also, when I display website with more pictures and than change to Google page, no difference..
Does it need more time to analyse pictures, or screen?

6T: Anyway to make apps ignore the teardrop notch?

Found this on Reddit. Dunno if the user is on XDA. But I'll post this for them anyways. Im interested as well.

How to enable FULL immersive mode (no status bar) and not have a black bar as a replacement?
When I had the Essential Phone, I was able to whitelist any app to disregard the existence of the notch and pretend like it wasn't there.
Take a look here: https://youtu.be/NLnMXtxz4f8
And here: https://www.xda-developers.com/essential-phone-force-apps-fill-screen/
I ran an adb script to remove the status bar, but that only places a black bar where the status bar would be.
A modification like what the Essential Phone has would be great since the teardrop notch is so minimal that it should not have any negative impact on FULL SCREEN apps (unlock the pixel 3xl *coughs) .
There's a setting under 'Display', 'App display in fullscreen' where you can choose the apps you want to display full screen.. Is this what you're looking for?

I think that the App display in fullscreen does what the video showed.

I think you're correct. Only problem is that a lot of apps do not show up in this setting. Youtube and Gmail for one. And it's not just Google apps, either.
Another problem I've ran into when trying to do this is lag/jitter when scrolling when immersive mode is turned on. If I turn immersive mode off and reboot the phone the lag is gone and the phone is buttery smooth. If I turn immersive mode back on, the lag is immediately back. Any ideas why this might be?

Dark mode
Here's hoping we get a true dark mode because that white is really battery draining
Wanna know what I´m doing? Using the facebook in the Samsung Browser. It´s that easy. The Samsung Browser offers a native dark mode as well - just set yourself a bookmark on your homescreen and you are done. And the good thing is: It´s even better in terms of performance and WAY less data sniffing as well

I've been doing the same since disabling Facebook app and its related bloat on my phone for a few months.
Works ok, but fb intentionally makes it not work as well as their app suprise suprise! Example, when you get notification and click it , it doesn't always take you to the post.

please update latest facebook dark mode..
Not sure if y'all are aware but you can actually "force dark mode" on basically all apps on your device in the developer options.

"force dark mode" mode makes everything look worse. you cant even read the black text on black background here and there.
Best solution for this is wait for FB to update their official dark mode to everybody. Ive heard that they are testing dark mode on some chosen people's accounts.
Guess that's just an issue for you. I haven't had any issues. My text shows white over the black background *
I've seen a few sites that Facebook and Messenger get blackened and put to download, search google or send me a private message to send you.
