Hello
After flashing Alliance Rom 4.4.2 i made it show my cpu's status and i noticed that the 4th cpu is idle the whole time, i tried re-flashing the rom again but still the same
And i feel how slow my S5 gets when only running on 3 cpu's
Any solutions?

Hi there,
This is most likely a kernel related issue/feature that has been included with the ROM. The default/stock behaviour is that the first and last core should always be online. Try looking into kernel managers that may be included with the ROM or from the google play store like kernel adiutor, it may be under the "hotplug" menu. I would look into different kernels or flashing a different ROM if it bothers you too much.

Thanks for replying After your post i did install Kernel Adiutor and i found the offline cpu, when i try to turn it on it just simply turn back off, the other 3 cpu's does turn on an off
Ill post my problem on their foums site
Thanks again.:good:

Unable to get leankernel to run

So I've recently rooted and installed a custom rom on my phone for the first time with success. My phone is the T-Mobile Galaxy S3 N900T. I'm running C-Rom-KK-v7.1-20140622 which is based on 4.4.4 and it's great. I've been trying to find a custom kernel that I can load onto it to help increase the battery life, hence why I heard LK was really good for that, unfortunately every time I flash the kernel it just reboots to a black screen. The LED buttons will sometimes light up, but nothing else happens, and I'm forced to wipe and reinstall c-rom. I'm really looking forward to getting a custom kernel to work and any help would be appreciated.

Been a while since I scanned the N3 forum however, check that the ROM is compatible with the Kernel and If the Kernel does indeed run on the 900T - when I had my N3 T-Mo users used to have to flash a fix to boot N9005 kernels.

Thanks for understanding and for helping to keep XDA neat and tidy!
Many thanks to our Lord for his hard work in last weeks.
Now it is a "real" S5 ))
Sound control?
The Boeffla control app v. 2.1.73 only offers volume adjustments in the Boeffla-Sound section. I tried running the Boeffla Sound Control App v. 1.7.1 from the market as well as a presumably modified version I found on XDA, but both force close immediately. Is there a way to take more advantage of the Boeffla-Sound options on this kernel (2.0-beta3-CM 12.1)?
Issue with CPU and GPU frequencies
Hello...
I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 and i have installed CM12 with the latest kernel 1.0 beta3 and i experience freezes and hot reboots...
I have not overclocked anything as you can see from the pictures and i have left all frequency clock settings at default values, but when i go to CPU-Z i see the values of CPU and GPU overclocked...
In the attached images i have the default settings in Boeffla for CPU on 2457MHz and in GPU at 578MHz and in CPU-Z i see that max CPU frequency is 2.84GHz and GPU is 657MHz...
Why is this happening?
Thank you in advance for your help...

Issue with CPU and GPU frequencies
It is being answered by Lord Boeffla...
All is normal. Tools like cpu-z and others always display the maximum possible frequency, regardless of what you cap the frequency to.
So, it just shows something not correct.
You can verify that very easily by using tools like CPU Spy etc and you will see, these high frequencies are indeed not used unless you allow it.
The reasons is: These tools always assume, when overclocking frequencies are available, they are used. Which is not the case by default in my kernel.
nameless rom KLTE 4.4.4
does it work on namelessrom nightly with stock kernel?
edit- will overclocking freeze my phone? i tried ktoonsez's kernel and it froze my phone. i had to reflash /system and rom, thankfully i kept all my data.

Hello Boeffla,
i use your kernels since S3 and i was so happy when i read, that you also support the S5....
I'm very happy with the kernel and i never had problems with the kernel at all (using smoove, interacitve, conservative)!
I really appreciate when you further support the S5 development!

I tried this kernel (2.1-beta8) on BlissPop v3.6 (BlissPop-v3.6-klte-OFFICIAL-20150701-2254), but some features didn't work (ex: couldn't use tethering).
IMPORTANT: BlissPop is "customized" rom, so you must read and understand when want to use:

Kernel working with s5 SM-900m?
I would like to test this kernel with Exodus ROM 5.1.1 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/orig-development/rom-team-exodus-klte-t3135876). Is it compatible? If yes, how do I know what version of the kernel to take (CM11, CM12, CM12.1, Stock Lollipop 5.0)?
Thanks.

Hi, I am new to this. Just got my S5 today.
The phone still got Android 5.0 with TouchWiz on it (original Samsung firmware) and is not rooted yet. I want to install CM 12.1 later. What kind of kernel do I need now? If I install the kernel via Odin is my phone then rooted and ready to install CM 12.1?
Thanks for any help.

I installed Boeffla Kernel and CM12.1 successfully. All works fine. However, my phone always says that I have no root rights. Boeffla Kernel for sure is installed and is showing up in my settings. What can be wrong?

You have to enable root, or to flash SuperSU (a third party, actually the most popular root solution for Android.).
I would actually like to recommend you the stock CyanogenMod root, but I myself am using SuperSU for a while, and I would have to search how to use the stock CM root with 12.1.
So either install SuperSU app from the play store, and download this zip: download.chainfire.eu/supersu, boot to recovery and flash it, to enable Chainfire's closed source root, or Google 'How to enable root on CyanogenMod 12.1' to find out how to use CyanogenMod's own root solution.
Edit:
So I dont have to type everything (instructions how to enable CyanogenMod's own root implementation, IIRC, and if nothing has changed in the meantime, it is Koush's implementation, which is open source:

What ROM to get? (cant find a one without problems) I9505

Hi
I have international S4 (i9505) and I have tried various roms and every time I end up with some kind of problem, I used one on 4.4.2 and it had connectivity issues, then I tried 1 on 5.0.1 and it started rebooting every few hours, then installed one named optimized cyanogen 12.1 and it says bluetooth crashed over and over.
So the question is can anyone recommend a rome without any of those problems? and dont do anything special on my phone, mostly whatsapp, some online games and music nothing more, but want bluetooth and everything to work.
Ay help?
Thanks
If you don't want to deal with problems, go back to stock and root that.
Even stock has problems.
You should understand that each phone is different, even if it's the same model. Meaning that even if somebody suggest a rom that works perfectly for that person, it might not work for you.
With this in mind I can suggest to you the rom I've been running for a few months and works great for me: Resurrection Remix with alucard kernel.
And if you don't want whatsapp audio issues, go into developer options and enable AwesomePlayer.
one question, what does the kernel affect in the ROMs stability?
right now I´m on Cianogen and it hasnt shown problem, for now at least

Hi @totopesce,
I'm currently using the latest version of a ROM called Dirty Unicorns. I've had little to no issues with it. It's AOSP based, it's nice and light and very customizable.
It's trail and error with custom ROMS really. I was hoping from ROM to ROM for a long time before I eventually settled on Dirty Unicorns. It's your own taste at the end of the day.
Good luck with the search!

Bootlop?

Hi! I have a little problem that I can't understand. When I flash on my Moto X style anyone ROM of nougat, at two days of install, the device restart and keep the screen on logo, and never on. It's a problem that only have with nougat, and I try a lot of roms. The only exception was validous, but it restarts several times a day and the camera works bad. Can someone help me? Thank you!
All custom nougats have problems with interactive cpu governor.
After flashing any custom you should install kernel adiutor(play store) and change both governors to any other(impulse f.e.).

need a custom kernel

Hi, I have a rooted verizon galaxy s7 (g930v) and i flashed some rom from here that a user uploaded that gives me the s8 icons and some other fancy stuff without too much affecting stock.
I read about getting a different kernel would allow the cpu frequencies and such to be more in your control, and I was wondering how i can go about getting a custom kernel.
The only problem here is, Almost every tut i've seen requires TWRP, and the last time i tried to install it, when i went into recovery booting, i would get in a bootloop, and i last heard it wasnt supported for the s7 anyway.
So I guess my question is, can someone link me a compatible version of twrp (if there even is any for the US variant on verizon), tell me how to install it, and please let me know with a link to a custom kernel that should work on my verizon galaxy s7?, with instructions on how to get it in my system? (I've read everywhere sorry for being a noob with kernels.)
I really wanna work on this and it's been driving me nuts! I would really appreciate any and all help i can get on this matter.
Thank you.

The bootloader on the Verizon S7 is locked. I believe with a locked bootloader you cannot load TWRP or a custom kernel. You are basically stuck with variations of the stock Verizon ROM with the stock kernel.

Damn, well in that case could you answer me this: I want to improve the performance of my phone without losing battery, I know tweaking the cpu and things of that sort could help, but in your personal opinion what would be the best way of controlling such things and their values? I've tried LSpeed, didn't really help, I used kernel adiutor, but one thing i noticed is that i think my system has its own cpu managing techniques, because if i went into kernel adiutor, set the min to 307, when i move my finger it shoots up to 900 then back down, in other people's videos of kernel adiutor i don't see that, any idea on what that's about?
I assume it's something in my system that's making my cpu do that, and i think that's why im not getting the snappy performance I crave. Any ideas?
Appreciate the help btw

Without a custom kernel, you can't tweak the CPU. Can't have a custom kernel on the S7 because of the locked bootloader. So there you go. I haven't tried messing with anything to improve the performance of my S7, so sorry I'm no help to you there.
