How quickly do you think reviews will be up vs the notice of availability for those on pre-order list? I think most of us would like to read at least a few before taking the plunge and fulfilling the purchase. Do you think samples are already out under NDA?
So with the listing showing up on Worst Buy, are we at all close to the first official reviews? Not going to pay up on the preorder until reading at least one or two
I would have brought the phone instantly without reviews if they did not delay the release this far. Now that we will soon see a number of new phones with full display like iphone 8, huawei Mate 10, LG V30 & Note 8, i might even wait for comparison of all these phones before buying.

Same here.....would have bought it last week if it was available...now I want to see what Nokia does with the Nokia 8
I'm 50/50 on buying it today now that I can. Previously decided to wait but having a 15-day 100% money back return policy with free return shipping is what's brought me back up to 50/50.

Yeah, got the email that it would be shipped in less than a week if I placed the order.
I don't see any cases or accessories.
Still on the fence.

There are 2 offerings for tempered glass screen protectors on Amazon. They look like they're designed for the front only but there are 3-packs so you might be able to also use one on the back side. That might help add protection for cheap until cases become available. EDIT: Just realized how stupid of an idea this is with the fingerprint reader and cameras on the back side.
I really wish there was some kind of protection built in to prevent glass from breaking. Without that, the drop protection by the titanium body is fairly limited.
There's still too much I don't know about this - like, does it even come with earbuds?

Yeah I know, but I would assume that they're pushing for wireless otherwise why remove the jack at all. Providing ear buds wouldn't make sense. The adapter I would argue is just to appease those who do not want to shell out the money to pick up wireless ones

Nice video & review
Just saw a good review and video on PH-1 here.
A few "preliminary/hands-on" reviews have popped-up: in addition to Engadget AndroidCentral and AndroidAuthority have them, and The Verge have what seems to be a full review. Guess embargos have been lifted.
I emailed Essential Support some very serious, IMO, questions, I'm waiting on the answers before shelling out the $700...

Edit: As per HOTUKDeals thread it was a mistake
This has now been withdrawn, most likely a misprice to begin with or they have already sold all their stock! It will be interesting to see if those that ordered early actually receive their phones.
Ordered one. Let's hope it goes through. The money has left my account, so that's something.

The Verge phoned up and it wasn't a misprice.
good way to make a profit
buy a couple, and sell them on.
on HotUKdeals, people have confirmed that the deal is not valid for some reason...
The Verge may have jumped the gun on this one - retailers customer service departments are notoriously crap and often get it wrong, good luck getting it though. I still think this deal was too good to be true and looking at the hukd thread that does seem to now be the case
and here I thought Nokia and MS finally figured out the formula to become relevant in the market. Hell even I was going to pick one up to try it... but now forget it.
Can't charge premium prices for sub premium device/experience... not until you become a real player and can start dictating pricing (like Apple).
Too good a phone to sell for £120
Was always going to be a incorrect price.
But it was worth a shot I guess.

Don't think this has been started yet. Let's get the ball rolling! Who else is getting one on the 19th? Does anyone happen to have one now? Initial thoughts if you do! Personally, I'm excited for the two backs that are included in the box (supposedly). We rarely get stuff like that in Canada!
Grabbing one as soon as I can. I already have some Spigen plastic screen protectors, an Orly tempered glass protector, and a Ringke slim case to use with the plastic back. All purchased from Amazon.
I don't believe the US got two backs in the package though. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think we will get both on the box. So far, it looks like the black leather will be the only colour offered.
I read on Mobilesyrup both gray plastic and black leather backs would be included in the box. Pretty bold thing of them to say if they weren't positive. I'm hoping they're right!
Our lg rep has shown off his g4 a couple times in the last 2 weeks. Beauty device. First non HTC device I will own since the diamond. He's confirmed that both the black leather and grey metallic backs will be included. Great news right ?? I'd say.
I ordered the LG-H815 international model after owning and loving the G3 and this phone is a beaut. By far the nicest phone I have owned and I have pretty much owned em all. It is sexy looking with the black leather back and I have to say I am a fan of the subtle curved screen. Great battery life and better reception in Victoria than the G3 so I am thrilled, could be happier. I even bought two different Sena iphone 6 plus cases and had them sewn into a sweet little wallet sleeve for my g4.
Switching between carriers??
Hi,
It seems on LG's website that all Canadian carriers are getting model number H812. THat means the HW should be the same for all and only the software is controlling the radio bands the device can use. I'm on Wind but might need to switch to Bell in the future (if work makes me switch). I know people with Samsung's S6 can switch device software so they can get it to work on different carriers. Has anything like this been possible in the past with LG? Any guesses on whether it could be possible with LG G4?
This is my first LG phone so I have no idea what their track record is other than it is not great.
Will H812 in Canada have FM radio enabled?
I'm scared of purchasing one after hearing all the issues that are plaguing the phone.
I'm hoping that the majority of it is software issues that a patch will fix, but the battery life stuff is hit or miss for the most part. Coming from a M7, I really want a phone that can do it all, without issues. The M7 was great up until the camera crapped out and it felt gimped from that point. Otherwise it's been a awesome phone.
I'm just sketched out, I was planning on hitting up Rogers friday morning just to grab this bad boy.
I have been following all the threads also. You get issues with every device. Hell, check out the S6/S6e forums at AC if you want to get freaked out. The thing is, only the people WITH issues raise a stink, there are many more people out there that either don't have, or don't notice the issues.
We have 15 days anyways, and we know what the issues are, so we can check for them before the return time expires.
I already have one reserved with Rogers (via Best Buy), and I will get it the minute it's available. I will definitely run it through the paces to check for the common issues as soon as I can.
Worst case, I exchange/return it. Hopefully I don't have to return it, because I already have a tempered glass screen protector and brown leather back inbound. I don't want to eat those costs, lol.

I don't know about the FM radio yet, but the Canadian carriers have been pretty good about NOT neutering features like some other carriers *cough*Verizon*cough*.

Good post about putting things in perspective!
Can I ask where you managed to get your brown leather back from? I was thinking of posting on the forums to switch the black leather back with someone who has a brown one. Is that what you did?
Thanks
Not sure if anyone else here agrees with me, but doesn't a lot of these issues that have been appearing recently seem to be mostly coming from US variants?
My reasoning is that that phone was already released but we didn't hear a lot about issues until the US release. This might also be that more US people browse here and therefore come and vocalize about their issues. So I'm hoping it's mostly an issue with the US variants.

I actually ordered mine on eBay. They are from Korea, so they come embossed with "band LTE" carrier logo, but you can hardly see it. Outside that, only Verizon has the brown.

There are also issues with people in the USA who bought the H815 UK unlocked model, so I don't think it's only the US models. You are correct though, it does appear to be mostly the USA models.
Hopefully the fact that we get ours released later means hopefully we get a later software version with less bugs.

Can't say I'm surprised, although it is disappointing. Apparently LG's decision was because they think Europeans don't like big screen phones. Hopefully, if there is a European release it won't have reduced storage like the LG V10.

I'm *really* hoping that Clove don't jack up the price to beyond reasonable. I mean they're providing 2 years warranty with it and are importing them too but if it's astronomical they'll only sell a handful if that and I don't know if it would even be worth it for them. I do hope it's fairly priced. Aside from that I'm going to check amazon.de and amazon.fr and I'll need to check my phone insurance will cover it since it won't be a UK released phone.
Such a shame LG aren't releasing it in the UK yet again....
Anyone know how one would approach the warranty situation if it's bought from Amazon.de or.fr? I'd guess just sending it back to Amazon wouldn't be too difficult within the normal warranty period for the device?
Waiting patiently for clove to release details also. With the debacle that is the note 7, I'm hoping a non UK release decision gets rethought.

On a positive side the sound was so good and loud I couldn't put it max. The Dolby atoms demo was friggen amazing. There is Dolby on the phone it worked fine. Tested the demo video etc. Here is a video of the issue
can't see it was rooted or a fake device as it came with all the box and registration / warranty stuff and all serial numbers checked out . I'm probably going to order the unlocked v20 this weekend and was wondering which would be better to order from.
BH charges no sales tax or shipping and they have an open box for $100 cheaper.
Amazon same price but must pay sales tax.
Plus BH has free charger, headphones and tablet too.
Is BH easy to deal with if I have to return this like something was broke on it or is Amazon better?

I think I would go with Amazon, they have a more liberal return system if you have an issue. In other words you'll get an immediate refund once a tracking number is created when you send it back. Just opt for Amazon itself and not a third party Amazon seller if you can.

BTW, did you look at the Pixel XL? Why the V20? I'm thinking I shouldve went with the Pixel...The V20 is a good unit, I'm just not 100% happy with it and I'm out of the buyer's remorse window timeframe to trade it out.

If you're going with the Pixel IMO go for the S7 edge.
Now if the 128 GB pixel XL was $710 I would say jump on it because latest android and AMOLED screen. However with no removable storage or always on display I wouldn't pay 869 for it when a year from now you will be bored with it.

Nah man, I have the V20...and I dont really use price as a factor, since I do the installment plan thing. All the top tier phones are 800-ish. Think of it this way - It's something you'll be using EVERY DAY, many times per day...so I don't really use price as a factor in making the choice - I just want to be happy with whatever I get it.

Pixel is a great phone it's not bad. It works great for the features it has like software screen and camera, and has IP54 at least, but for that kind of cash it doesn't have enough features. For cheaper you can get the S7 edge and wait for 7.0 to launch.
I think the V20 is a good large screen phone to last until next Sept or Aug for the Note 8. Rumor has it the headphone jack will be missing from the S8 Edge and SD card possibly which is DUMB and would really do damage to Samsung if they take the SD card away. If they did that people would just go to Pixel instead of giving Samsung a second change since there wouldn't be much of a difference then.
It appears I'll save 66 bucks if I buy from B & H.
What is Amazon's return, exchange policy for Christmas season on phones?
I think BH might be the better one to order from. According to Amazon you only have 10 days to return a defective device for a replacement an no more refunds for phones. That's really rotten.

I've made returns to BH with no bs and refunds only took about 2 days more. But do what is comfortable: I get the best of both worlds with Amazon and BH since I live in CT with free next day delivery with BH.

I think BH might be the better one to order from. According to Amazon you only have 10 days to return a defective device for a replacement an no more refunds for phones. That's really rotten.

That's not correct, perhaps with phones but I can tell you I ordered an Asus 7 inch tablet on Amazon and wasn't thrilled with picture quality. On exactly the 29th day I submitted it for return online, printed the label and walked it down to an official UPS store. they scanned the label and I immediately received a refund alert on the app. No questions asked. This was less than a month ago.

I would never hold off on a purchase or make a "in the meantime" purchase in expectation of a new Samsung offering. They got rid of removable battery and SD card with almost no one expecting it until launch day. And after the Note 7 disaster I will never make a phone with a non-removable battery a first choice. I depend on my phone for work and have very important family business that need to be handled on the phone. I travel several times a month on average and the idea that I would not be allowed to board a plane with my specific model of phone or that I had to go through the hassle of reinstalling all of my software, some of which would be a royalllllll painnnnn in some cases where I must use Ethernet authentication and the equipment is out of state....well no more Samsung/fixed battery phone for me.

I agree. This Note fiasco wouldn't have happened if there was removable battery. They could have simply made a slightly smaller battery and sent them to stores or ship them to us since it's said the compartment for the battery was a bit small.
Would be funny if the iPhone 7 had a massive battery problem and they had to recall them all and it got to the point the device would be killed this year. Apple would have no device to fall back on like Samsung did.

I made this very point when discussing Apple stock. Apple share price relies 50% on a single model of one product. No other company with a valuation that high, as far as I know, is carrying that much risk should that one product have a massive recall. However, in Samsung's case it seems that Samsung decided to do all its quality control in-house for the first time to cut costs. If An outside testing agency had caught this exploding battery in time it would have paid for itself 10xs over. I guess when Apple mark up their phones so high above the actual cost to build they have plenty of our money to spend on their quality control.
Who here has received or at least received a tracking number for their $99 promotion bundle?
Bought it, but still haven't received Tracking Info yet. I know someone has it in motion currently.

the last promotion Samsung did with the note 7 i received the memory card within 1 week of registering, so hoping this one will be quick also since the ONLY shipping option they gave us was 2 day
I have mine, then again, I ordered it along with the phone from Samsung direct. The only part of my order they haven't shipped yet is my case, so I picked up a few Spigen from Amazon.

Only reason I ordered it direct was being scared the promo would sell out and I wouldn't get it. I would have waited a month for prices to drop if not for the bundle.

Right, the bundle is such a good value, I would have happy paid $99 for just the VR and Memory Card, how are the headphones? do they feel premium or cheap? and how do they sound?

They sounds great to my ears. They are a bit heavy, almost had them slide off my head a few times with minor but quick motion (don't bend over with them on without care). They feel like quality cans to me. My only gripe, especially had I paid retail price, is the carry case. They only included a black cloth bag, it feels like the material my stretchy winter shell is made from. I would have preferred a hard case to keep them safer in a backpack.

Ordered the evening of 4/20. Order is confirmed, but no tracking yet.

I have used them with the vr headset and through that watched some Netflix on the virtual theater as will as using them for games on the headset; both seemed good to me, but I wasn't looking for delay.

Oh, and my 4 year old loves the headset, even though it's a tad big for him, ok a lot big for him.
I noticed my $99 transaction has dropped off my bank statement
Anyone have direct contact info for the promotions dept?
Think about it guys, they are processing millions (no exaggeration) of requests I'm sure that's why there are delays with the promo merchandise.
I hoping to hear from someone that purchased through T-Mobile on the turn around for their $99 bundle order. Congrats to those that have received it already by ordering through Samsung directly. Had I the duckets to buy it outright I would have done it.
