Fast charging not working anymore. - LG V20 Questions & Answers

My V20 H990DS fast charging not working anymore. My adaptor are working normally on my friend V20 phone. Swapping battery also not working. Help me please. Sometimes usb function randomly pop up and disappear.

Try to clean dust from type c port on your V20

When mine messes up like that I end up taking the battery out for a few minutes. Ends up working.

I experienced same on my LG G5 and two V20s 990DS. All 3 are having same issue. What I think is it happened due to latest update (Mar / April patch) which has slowed down fast charging, may be deliberately by LG to avoid heatup / bootloop.
I will try to downgrade to previous version and see if it works.

Charging always seems slow to me and I just got this phone a month ago and it was manufactured in 2017( not that probably means anything)
Much slower compared to the zte blade v8 pro i was using prior.

i have exact same issue, normally the same charger and the cable ( also the lg charger and cable came with box ) used to be working, and not anymore, i agree that it stopped woring since the latest update..this is so annoying. Lg has to work out for this big trouble situations.

I just experienced the same thing! In my case, a stock USB cable was the issue!
I thought it was a charging block.... wrong! When i was working on two of them i discovered the issue pretty quickly.
Last thing i was expecting. Totally thought the charger was the problem!

Maybe it's your cord, just had this issue. Took 5+ hours to get to 80% on my failing cord, then just got a new one today and it's charging normally. About 1000 mA with screen on and almost 3000 mA screen off, I am on lineage 15.1 so I would recommend trying it out or using a different update. Also definitely check your cord. Best of luck

I'm having similar issues as OP. I've tried the stock cable and a third party with no luck, as well as 2 different batteries. 4+ hours of charging to only get to 80%. It only started after installing updates a couple of days ago.

Same here. Using QC 3 capable charger with strong cable. I have two LG v30, one is charging in 1.5 hrs to 100% the other double. I suspect the new battery I installed, but not sure. as it worked fine before. The charging monitor app claims it is charging with 2.5A most of the time, but that can't be.. Same SW version, FW.

[Q] lg g2 slow charging n fast battery draining

hello!!
i recently bought lg g2 D802 16gb n upgraded it to lollipop 5.0.2(v30d-vdf-com) but i m having problem with the battery life ..my father got lg g2 (vs980) and it gives around 6 hours of screen on time (running on jelly beans) but my g2 gives less than 4 n a half hour SOT ..plus it takes 2.30 hours to charge fully even more sometimes...lollipop was supposed to improve these things but its quite disappointing :/ is there anything i can do to make it back on track except factory resting
is there any chance the battery could be fake or not working properly?
any help would be appreciated thanks

I have the same pb too..
It's anormal!
To be at 100% => 7 hours of charging.. AMAZING xD
I didn't find any solutions...
I hope dorimanx make a new kernel
With the application AMPERE I'm at 150 mA max.. i change the cable but doesn't work anymore..
Please, help us.
Couple questions:
1. Did you guys buy your phones new or refurbished/used?
2. How did the battery work on Kit Kat or JB?
Based on these 2 questions we'll know if the battery has been replaced with a fake or if the battery is old and needs to be replaced.
Good thing is the battery is inexpensive (10-15.00) and is easy to replace for a novice/beginner
Are you using original cable and original charger? My G2 used to charge slow on Lollipop too, but I wasnt using original cable. But on the other hand, with same cable it was charging good on KitKat, lol.
With original charger and cable it charge as fast as on KitKat.
It's my own G2. Was a new when I bought it.
And I use all the charger and cable from LG..
Mine is same with everything original.
So ? Any solutions ?
I had the same issue.
Do a total wipe including a dalvik cache . Now i have 5+hrs screen on
All the wipes ?
Internal storage too ?
Because I change the rom nothing is better!
And to recharge my G2 is 9hours... xD
I have had the same charging problem with my LG G2 D802 16gb phone from Hong Kong.
I bought it brand new and it always took around 7 hours or so to charge. When checking the charge rate via the system menu or 3rd party apps, it's always charging below 500mAH instead of the max 1600mAH it should charge at (when the phone is switched on).
Even changing ROMS or changing cables/chargers has not fixed the problem. I suspect some phones are just 'faulty' and do not charge quickly.
My wife has the D802T edition (from Australia) and that charges fine.
Unfortunately i dont have a solution to your problem but i can confirm that the problem persists throughout:
* kitkat, jellybean, lollipop
* stock cable/charger
* aftermarket 2A charger
* aftermarket copper core high quality USB cable
* 2A powerbank charging
* switching phone on or off (still charges at same/similar rate)
oh this might be unrelated, but my LG G2 is the RED one... which i think is somewhat rare compared to the black or white colours...
Maybe, but before I was on speed charge.. Strange

Buy a new battery,
Went from 7h screen on time to 2.5.
Also my battery started swelling which is what will probably start happening to yours as well.

Anyone having this problem needs to factory reset their phone. This fixes it.

Charging Issues

Okay.
So like 2 months back, all was very well, my OP2 charged in around 1.5-2 hours. I was using the official OnePlus Charger and OnePlus Type C cable. After like a week the Type C cable stopped charging so i bought a new Type C cable, which worked great and charged my fone quickly. At that time, I used to check the charging with the Ampere App, and it showed normally 1100 mah charging.
Gradually over time, the charging speed started to slow down and then it came to the point when my phone was charging in 4-5 hours. So i again changed the wire, but no use as its the same i.e slow charging. (Checked with Ampere it is constantly showing 500-600 mah)
Since the wire is new and the OnePlus adapter is charging my phone, i do not suspect that the OP charger is at fault.
I am currently on Resurrection Remix 7.8.2. ( But this is also happening when i flashed OOS)
Plus a meagre 2.5 hours Screen On Time and yester overnight it drained 44% in 6 hours.
I have no idea whats going on.
ANY SUGESSTIONS AS TO WHAT I SHOULD DO?
Make sure you're using a good cable. Not some cheap knockoff.

Maybe its your battery then
It's all one plus work.
I can confirm this as well. Phone started taking excess charging times. Around 6 hours for 80%. This cannot be a battery issue. Battery degrades linearly. It's surely scam by the scum company one plus providing a time bomb style update to make old one plus 2 unusable. So many reports of op2 slow charging. Same issue reported in a previous post. He also mentioned that turning off phone and charging takes usual 1-2 hours time. Check if that's the case with you as well.

I haven't tried yet changing the ROM but as per other users changing kernel and roms doesn't matter. It will still be slow like hell. The strange part is this all started in may for all. Too fishy to be a coincidence.

I am getting good charging times.

2 month old ZTE AXON 7 won't quick charge anymore.

My phone is two months old and has ceased to quick-charge. Actually, 90% of the time, it will only charge when powered down. I use the factory charger and cable but get a message that I need to use the original charger and cable. Catch 22?
I bought it at Best Buy so I took it back to them this evening. My charger is fine as is my cable. Best Buy confirmed that my issue is a factory defect and politely sent me on my way. I take care of my phones if nothing more than the fact that I've had to replace micro USB ports in the past. The weird thing is that when it charges powered down, it seems to refresh to full battery very quickly.
Has anyone else had similar issues? If in fact, I do have to deal with ZTE, what has been members experience?
Thank you for letting me vent.

U can test your charger using USB volt amp reader on another phone which supports quick charging.
If charger works as it should then u need to test your phone with multimeter to see how much current it draws while phone is powered off without charger (battery only).
But that means you need to open 2 month old phone which i dont recommend if u have warranty.
Axon 7 draws about 2.66-2.68 amps while in quick charging mode. Volts i forgot but i think it was 6v. I'm not in shop at the moment so i cant know exactly.
But for amps i remembered.
Wallor77, thank you for your reply. My charger is in good working order. In fact, I have several 2.0 and 3.0 chargers. They all work fine on my Samsung Galaxy Note Edge. The Samsung displays "Fast Charger Connected" on the lock screen.
Now my ZTE Axon 7 will not charge while it is powered up. As soon as I turn it off, it charges just fine. This is really annoying!

If your charger and cable are OK, perhaps have you recently installed an application which limits the power. Such methods exists in some antivírus to preserve the health of the battery. It's just an idea.

Same thing there. If it charges normally while power off u need to see how much amps. USB volt amp reader is a good little device. I recommend for everyone to get one. It cost about 15 bucks. From there it's all about elemination process to diagnose proper issue

I second this. But $15?! You can get them for about $5 on aliexpress!
U have USB volt amp reader with both volt units, amp units, time duration and mAh over time charged value. But 15$ was about avarage price listing. I'm sure there is cheaper as well.
UPDATE: 6/2/17
I ended up sending my phone to the ZTE repair center in TX. It took about 3 weeks to get it back. There was no explanation of what was repaired and I received my original phone; not a refurbished one. All I know was that it was covered.

I am in the process of returning my 3rd Axon to ZTE. 2 of them have had this problem. It's definitely known because when I was talking to them and told them what was happening they just kind went "yeah ok" and fast tracked the whole thing. Thank god for this warranty, their quality control is ****e.

Last night, mine started doing this. It goes on and off about every two seconds. What's weird is it only does this with the quick charger. it slow charges when connected to a PC usb just fine. Its not the OEM charger either since my wife's quick charges just fine with the exact same charger.
Guess I'm going to have to call ZTE....
Mine suddenly stopped quick charging - I have 3 different chargers that work fine with other phones except for this one. And chances of all 3 of them going bad at the same time are slim to none. Tested different cables as well, but again same result. It charges with normal speed even when connected to QC3.0. Tried wiping cache. I think it's no different if I turn the phone off. Think it might be time to move on. Had it since December 2016, so I guess it's nearly 2 years old now. Still shame.

Quick update. Swapping batteries (OEM) hasn't helped. I wonder if this is software or hardware related
Let me add to this thread. I'm also not getting quick charge anymore for maybe a month already. Tried different cables, booting to safe mode, etc. There are few instances where i see quick charging but very rarely. I was thinking it's my usb port but I haven't opened my phone yet to verify.

X720 Reliability, how bad is it?

I been thinking about getting this but amazon is full of reviews from people saying it only lasted a month, battery bulged and broke the screen, one guy saying he's on his third replacement, another about how it died and burned his USB cables, etc
Is it that bad? did anyone here got some serious hardware problems with this phone?
This is my first Android phone i have had zero hardware problems, had it over a year now. It was out of commission for 3 months because of a boot loop, but that was my fault, not installing a new Rom correctly. Currently running TURBO's MIAU Destroyer V12 not a single hiccup in 6 months.

Did you try official lineage? how did it go?
If you think its bad why even thinking of buying it? million of phones out there
I have X720 over 6 months it work well. I been flashing everything stock rom, Aicp, Omni, Turbo roms, Tora33 rom and more. Still use it everyday. If you know what you doing with your own it should be fine.
The thing is the Lineage Nougat family rom (non stock) maybe only few of them that work well for example I found AICP Nougat pretty good, I heard good things about Lineage but haven't really try it. You need 1-2 good rom and stick with it should be best.

I've had two.
The fingerprint reader stopped working on the first after one week.
The second has been working fine so far for the last four months.
I have had 727 with no problems at all and I have tried every rom and best results have been 21s stock remove bunch of junk.
Runs perfect.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I already tried the latest stock rom.
The fingerprint reader was working and then suddenly stopped working (LineageOS is installed on the phone), so I assume it's the fingerprint reader that has failed.
If you had asked me a few days ago, I would have said that it's the best phone I have ever owned. The battery last for me 3 days, with 7h SOT on average. I had zero issues ever since I bought it begining of 2017 on sold.
But yesterday, with absolutely no reason at all, when I plugged the cable for charging (original LEECO cable and charger), the USB-C port just burned. It was very fast, as soon as I plugged it, I smelled burn odour. I unplugged, the USB port was hot with burn marks. I tried another cable, burned like the first one.
I have now a phone with less than 15% of battery I cannot recharge anymore. It will go in the trash as soon as I used the remaining battery to retrieve all my data by wifi because there is no aftersale for LEECO anymore. It's a real shame, the phone was really great to use.
I looked over the internet, several people seem to have similar issues lately with this phone. Looks like a hardware problem that just started to appear lately on several devices. Maybe a wrong batch of phones, but it's 300€ for a few month of use only.

Yeah, I can confirm that there are problems with a batch LEX720. My device died while trying to recharge. I plugged in the orginal cable for charging, the device went off and could not be started anymore. Now I am annoyed about the Banggood support. It is really a great device, but not if it only lasts 2 months!
It's sad to hear about your devices dying while charging.
I didn't trust the original cable or the charger. First thing I did was buy a trusted USB A charger, and 56k Ohm USB A to C cable.
It really is an amazing phone (when used with a custom rom) when it works.

Don't use the stock cable, I doubt it's Benson approved or even safe for non-China use. Use a USB-C cable approved by Benson Leung, a Google engineer. Like the stock Google Pixel cable.
USB-C to USB-A has a lot of issues. Many cables aren't made to spec, and can cause fires if you're not careful. Stop using the LeEco stock cable and buy a better one from a reputable brand!
I have 3 LeEco phones, Le Max2 x829, LE Pro3 x720 and Le Pro3 Elite x722, All of them I always use charger and cable that come with the phone. I never have any problem. I sold the Le Max2 recently which was work perfect.
I'm a little scared to use the original charger and cable after reading the horror stories I'll probably start off with my old Nexus 6p charger and cable until I can find a good third party charger and cable!

Before I have Lg V20 use its charger to charge LeEco phones too which work fine without problem. Lg quick charger come with a thick strong cable.

LeEco quick charger come with skinny cable compare to Lg cable.
Got 2 leecos in the house for over a year. The original lead for my pro3 went bad not long ago, where it would keep stopping charging, the charger and the charger and lead for the max 2 are fine though.
Seems it maybe worth buying a lead at least, if your worried.
i replaced the original usb c cable with an ebay one, then it has been working fine for just over a year. great phone. never give any problems.
The stock charger can burn the USB port, which might be a fire hazard. I wouldn't use it personally even if it hasn't happened to you yet. I use my Kindle Fire's wallplug, and Suaoki type C cable. It's cheap and Benson approved.

I've had mine since November of 2016, so a little over a year. None of these issues have popped up. Now, a broken screen can occur to any phone if you drop it. I haven't read the reviews, so not sure about the context.
Other than that my experience has been good, especially as someone coming from the LG G4 (boot looped). Battery life is back to the LG G2 days, so I get well over 6 SOT, and can easily hit 8-9. On wifi battery life is crazy as well.

Question Anyone facing battery charging and drain issues?

Hi, I got a Nothing Phone (1) around 20 days back. Ever since the Phone has received only one system update that too was just a couple of days ago. I thought the battery drainage was something that happened from the beginning. A couple of days back, the phone wasn't charging. I was using a third-party adapter, One Plus Warp Charger for One Plus 7T my previous phone. Anyone facing battery issues with third-party charging. I am getting myself the Nothing Adapter for sure. I just hop I am not too late. I love the experience but battery life and charging issues are something I don't want to deal with again!!
I'm have been using third party 35w charger since I got my Nothing. Working perfectly fine, charging fast, battery working fine as usual. Nothing Adapter kinda pricy to me so....
