Hi all,
is it possible, with the current OOS or an additional app, to achieve the following:
I want "do not disturb" to work like this:
- starred contact calls: phone vibrates
- non starred contact or unknown caller calls: phone stays silent.
so far, I cannot reduce the ringtone volume to zero. Furthermore, I sometimes need a loud ringtone, so choosing a silent ringtone will not solve my problem. Additionally, I sometimes need a full silent mode.
I found a workaround for this problem with dnd mode which had worked on oneplus 3, but stopped to work with some version of OOS. Can you help me?
+1 to this. I would like to Silent be silent, do not disturb to vibrate only and the third option lets there be sound.

hey guys,
a few little annoyances that might be a quick fix: i'd like an option to specify whether or not the "Sound Off" slider on the lock screen goes to silent mode or vibrate mode. (one option turns off all sound, but turns on vibrate, the other option turns off sound and vibrate).
also, i think it's absurd that android's silent mode still allows media volume to come out of the speaker. i think silent mode should turn off the speaker, and only allow audio if headphones are plugged in, but i can see this being a much more involved and intricate change than the previous request. can anyone look into this?
I don't think this is going to happen.
i agree this is a very annoying "feature".. in every other phone silent mode means, vibrate when someone calls usually.
its very rare for me to want to disable notifcations of calls completly (i would rather just shutdown the phone?)
i never actually modded or even compiled android sources but i am a programmer by profession and it seems like a simple patch..
This really pisses me off that silent mode is actually won't ring but will bleep and wizz at every email and text. Silent should be silent.
Today I experienced a strange issue with my Leo. The ring volume autosets itself to silent. I manually increase it to max (both ring and system) using the volume keys but immediately after exiting the volume control window it sets itself to silent. I tried to set it to vibrate only but - same thing, it goes to silent again. The sound icon in the taskbar shows normal volume (i.e. not silent). When I receive a call it does not ring nor it vibrates. Its silent. The device plays music and sounds normally. I believe there must be a registry key that somehow was changed but I'm not sure which program might have caused that.
I use Phonegate call filtering app and Iconsoft PhoneX but cannot find anything in their settings that would cause it. Also tried removing them - no effect. Soft reset - many times
HR may be?
are you sure it is setting to silent? it could be that the chosen ringtone doesn't exist anymore? Try changing to a different ringtone and back again.
Tried that but still with no success
hmm, could it be that you have an appointment set, and the phone set to go silent during appointments?
Stupid me! In the windows sounds and notification settings, Notifications tab I found that for the Incoming call event the ring type was mysteriously changed to NONE when it should be set to RING. I don't know how could this happen by itself... But thank you, samsamuel for your logical suggestions and sorry for posting before thoroughly check my device.
hehe no worries, it generally turns out to be something simple.
Just got a brand new Note3. Loving it save for the way it handles notifications with vibration mode.
It seems to default to the long "Basic Call" vibrate tone no matter what I configure in the settings. I find this tone to be quite harsh if I'm lying in bed, for example, and get a message. This is true for both SMS and gmail, so far. Further, I tried disabling vibrate notifications in some apps and they persist regardless and always with the same long vibrate tone.
Is this a known issue that others are experiencing? If not, do you have any ideas how I can properly configure vibrate mode to work properly?
Thanks.
Is there a way to setup my Moto360 to always give me my phone's notifications, even if the phone is on silent or do not disturb?
Looks like I found a way. I edited the sound profile for vibrate only to not vibrate at all. Now when I'm on vibrate mode the phone doesn't do anything, but the watch does notify me. What sucks is now I don't have a vibrate mode, though. There's also the "Mute connected phone" option, but without an easy toggle on-off button it's useless to me.
Still open to ideas.
In my Android Sounds & Vibration Settings I have "Vibrate when ringing" set on, and a default ringtone. I'm using a Canadian VOIP dialer called Fongo.
With my Axon in Vibrate mode, when I call my Fongo number the Axon will only vibrate once, like a message notification. The call will continue to ring but the Axon is silent/motionless.
In the Fongo app Settings, I can turn on a separate "Vibrate When Ringing" toggle. This fixes the ringing issue, and will continuously vibrate when a call is ringing. However this breaks Silent mode function, so if the Axon is in Silent mode, it will actually vibrate rather than be silent.
Anyone know how I could fix this issue? At work I need it to be 100% silent in Silent mode, and need it to vibrate continuously when receiving a call in Vibrate mode. The vibrate setting is audiably loud in my quiet workplace (film set) so you can understand how this is an issue.
