Hi everyone
I bought ZTE Axon 7 (A2017G) from Italy Amazon
it is running MM 6.0.1 (Mifavor 4.0 version B11)
there is no OTA updating
so I want to manual update to Nougat last version for my region
then getting TWRP, Magisk, Xposed
but there's alot of guides here with a lot of roms with deference regions confuse me!
so what guide should I use, and what rom should I use
is there need to unlock bootloader , is that will losing me any feature like dolby ?

The guide from Controllerboy works perfect ( advice read it more than once ) , the axontoolkit works too.
If you decide to go with custom rom you will loose ZTE Dolby,
but viper works good, but there are debloated stock roms which you can use with Dolby and root.
Unlocking the bootloader is always helpful, if you decide to use custom recovery and root, because if you mess up anything you're mostly lost with a locked bootloader.
Unlocking the bootloader will completely wipe your phone, better you copy your important stuff to PC.
If you just want to update your phone copy the latest official
firmware to the external SD card and use the update function.

This is a bit outdated, you can follow the guide on mm or n, doesn't matter. No need to down or upgrade before.

After you did the unlock, the twrp update and flashed the Los thread bootloader + modem you can use this rom, guess this is what you want:

@am2006 it seem strange that you don't receive OTA update. It is seem that the seller had done something with the phone (properly install A2017G on A2017 chinese model). Before doing anything, you must know you model, cause A2017G brick is pretty hard to fix

No I think the last update in Italy is MM, but I'm not sure, the device is new and I check the model and SN on the mobile and its cartoon, it is matching

I recommend using stock Nougat. Stock ROM has pretty good camera, Dolby, DAC which you will missing when using custom ROM. (Stock MM is bit crappy, ZTE has fix a lot after several update).
Beside, RR is very good custom ROM.
Official Xposed does not support Nougat yet, there is an unofficial one but not work with stock Nougat, I haven't try on RR

There are multiple iterations of Dolby made as a Magisk module. Magisk works perfectly on both LineageOS and Stock rom.

Thanks a lot. Is this an official, confirmed info or a rumor? I'd really like to see global/Indian ZUI 3.1. I'm on CN ZUI 3.1 at the moment. Uninstalled all bloat but still getting notifications on Chinese sometimes. English only would be a blast!
After so many customs ROMs, now I'm on ZUI 2.5.104 ST (INDIAN VERSION). How should I install latest Chinese ZUI.

Ok, learnt from other threads that for India ZUI baseband is M8996FAAAANAZM-1.76387.1.92759.1
This is the one which is to be used in case one has issues of Jio to Jio calls ending abruptly.
Update.script package ...anyone having to flash zui 2.0.111 from TWRP Recovery.
Please someone tell me the flashing process
@Rit2005
I think this will help I haven't flashed it in 2 years so I'm not 100% sure. Keep everything backed up & handy just in case. All The Best !
So I flashed stock rom from December patch and then the baseband changed to ATHENE_EMEA_DSDS_CUST and the version ends in 62.02p but it should be ATHENE_INDIA and the version should end in R. I am using the indian variant ( XT1643 ). Can anyone please tell me what to do ? Or please provide me baseband from Indian variant with the instructions to flash it since I am mostly a noob. Thanks.

I think reflashing will do the thing for you. Before flashing make sure to geta back up of data as internal storage gets wiped out.

I need the stock Oreo firmware for Moto G5 Plus Indian variant (XT1686) to relock the bootloader.
I know that the Nougat stock firmwares were different for different variants of potter.
But I read from a post that this is not the case for stock Oreo firmware and it's same for all variants. Is it a fact?
If yes then I have no problem as there are links available for fastboot version of stock Oreo firmware.
But if no then please tell me where to download the specific one for XT1686.
Reply at your earliest convenience.
Model is not needed, original software channel (Country specific) is required.
So if you can give that info, someone can point you in the right direction.

This firmware can be used for any channel as starting from Oreo Moto doesn't create different firmwares for different channels.
plz provide a steps to update moto g5 plus and is it possible to revert back to OFFICIAL OREO update after installing POTTER ROM ?

You can update any custom rom from setting< system update< install (after download), for stock you can install stock from fastboot and receive update until no modifications is made in stock rom. If update with modifications it will brick the device.
