Cannot use Qualcomm tool to enable Band 4 LTE A9 Pro - Galaxy A3, A5, A7, A8, A9 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

I have tried many times but failed, the checked boxes unchecked themselves after restarting the phone. Some say the firmware is not supporting as my version is A9100 from China. I definitely think there are ways to enable it, maybe flashing the A910D/DS modem or firmware but I cannot extract it from the A910 MD5.....TAR.... anyone has any thoughts? I currently switched myself from T-mobile to cricket in order to have full 3G coverage for my A9 pro. However, it is really slow although I can still use the wifi. I do not want to spend 3x price on the A910F model Now I am living in a car so I need a phone with huge battery and large screen since I cannot always charge my phone. :silly:

Just open the tar.md5 as archive and you can drag the files out of it, or remove the.md5. it's just a .tar.
Make a new tar to flash in Odin, but I'm certain that Odin won't let you flash modem from different model.
Backup of efs partition is probably a good idea before trying.

I want to change the region code CSS/CSD? Maybe this can bypass the odin verification....... This phone cannot use twrp too so I usually use flashfire only......

How do I update to latest firmware through Odin? (Not the standard question)

Hi
As my country haven't gotten the latest update, I decided to download it through SamFirm (official firmware from Samsungs servers, just not capped in download speed like Sammobile).
But the thing is, that after decrypting, it's giving me 5 files and not just one .tar
The first 3 are named AP_xxx, BL_xxx and CP_xxx so it's pretty easy to guess where I should but them. But the last two files are named CSC_AUT and HOME_CSC_AUTO, so which should I use in the CSC slot?
Also, the UMS slot is greyed out, after putting one in the CSC slot and is stating that the firmware is only filling 65mb, even though it fills 1.8gb.
Anyone know what to do?
Thanks in advance
Hi,
Direct quote
"For some reason Samsung are now providing 5 files.
You now have some options:
1. If you want to keep your existing set up and just update, or reinstall existing firmware, you are better using SmartSwitch as described here:
http://www.sammobile.com/forum/showthread.php?t=29918
2. If you want to keep your existing set up, but want to install firmware with Odin, then use
BL - Bootloader
AP
CP
CSC_HOME
3. If you want to install another country firmware, or wipe your phone, then use
BL
AP
CP
CSC
CAUTION: This CSC contains a PIT file that will wipe your existing data and return your phone to 'out of the box' or will install another country/network firmware."
Cheers

You saved my day! THANKS!

Does CSC or PDA matter when flashing firmware from another country.

I am extremely new at this but if I want to update my firmware to, let's say, Germany firmware (PD1), will i need to keep CSC or PDA in mind? Or can I just flash the Germany firmware without those?
What are CSC, PDA, and baseband?

you have to take care of different partition layout sizes, with the new odin packages this should be no problem, if you only flash the pda (or AP) part.
otherwise you will fail at the flash procedure mainly with hidden.img and/or cache.img!
in any case: flashing your "stock" rom for your region or carrier will fix things if anything gets messed up!
another thing to consider: try flashfire from chainfire, its a new an advanced tool for flashing firmware files!

Hey, just an opinion. Search around G928G modem.tar and flash it by CP tab of odin before flashing the firmware. Than try flasing firmware. If fails again, remove modem.bin file from firmware(dont know how to). Otherwise extract the whole files from firmware, delete modem.bin and make the rest files as firmware with proper tool(TAR maker or else). Good luck.

Updated with ODIN, lost all data

I have a S7 Edge from Rogers Wireless (Canada) and they are painfully slow with updates- I was still on the Apr security patches (APD3). I found the firmware for the July update (APG1) which I downloaded (same CSC code -> RWC.)
Used ODIN, defualt settings, with all 5 files chosen in ODIN - followed the guide on XDA and ended up losing all my data.
Is there a way to install these "updates" without losing everything?
Thanks!
Did you used the normal CSC file?
With the HOME_CSC you shouldn't lose anything.

I used the CSC file that came with the package- (HOME_CSC_OYA_G935W8OYA1APG1_CL8421152_QB10225351_REV00_user_low_ship.tar.md5)
Is it possible to use ODIN and just use the AP file, and ignore the CSC/BL/other files- would that enhance the chances of not losing data?
bump
you only need to flash 4 files, you flash the csc twice the second time was not needed and you erased all your hard work.
the files you need were BL, AP, modem and home csc only not the other csc file.
If you read the instructions carefully it tells you to make a back up so that you can restore your phone in case of problems.

Thanks Cosmic.
Yes the mistake was in using the regular CSC (instead of the home CSC.)
If I now want to change my CSC (Rogers RWC -> Fido FMC), can I flash just a single home_CSC file?
Or,
1. Can I flash the full CSC file (since it's a major change.)
2. Flash the 3 other system files as well, and then home_CSC.
Thanks.

How to reinstall firmware on S7 edge?

Hi everyone. I am having battery drain issues after i installed the September security update. I want to reinstall the firmware on smart switch by connecting to PC.
The last time i tried it through emergency software recovery in fownload mode, I almost bricked my phone. Can i reinstall using device initialization option? Which one would be better?
Thanks in advance.

When you brick your device it has nothing to do with Odin (use the latest version)
Make sure you install the right firmware for your device
Import the appropriate files to Odin exactly where they supposed to be
You'll have five files when unpacked downloaded package
Installing CSC will wipe your device, to avoid that you have to install HOME_CSC instead
You may also need to set a password for a secure startup as it may ask

Hey again, @Geoz
I have two questions:
1. I can't get FOTA on my S7E, I think because the CSC file. Can I really flash the "HOME" one and not wipe data?
2. If I want to flash another Stock ROM, I must set secure startup? And if I forget, there is any solution?

If you want to flash different stock firmware other than your region, flash the three (BL, AP, CP ) and use your original HOME_CSC (you are aware that you have to start all over), installing your region stock firmware with HOME_CSC will not wipe your device.
If you forget password use (default_password) without the brackets but it's important to set it before and use it only if you forget

But if I will flash other region FW and my own country CSC, I won't be able to get FOTA. As far as I know, The FW and the CSC has to match to get updates.
About password for secure startup, I mean, is it really necessary to set it before flashing new ROM? I must set it up?
