USB Audio Playback - OnePlus 5 Questions & Answers

Since getting the phone, I haven't been able to use it in my car via USB.
I had previously had the OPO with Lineage OS which worked perfectly via USB with my cars head unit.
Is the stock rom capable of this or do I need a custom rom?

i think you need a custom kernel maybe ? this is what usually carries any missing drivers over the stock one
i saw a post of someone unable to connect a ps3 controller to his OP5 but after flashing a custom kernel everything worked fine

What usb mode do you select on the phone after you connect it?

it'll be better if you actually ask more , or try anything more simple than that before jumping to it

I've tried setting it to Audio Source under developer options but on the head unit it just shows up as 'N/A USB device' whereas usually it says something like App control.

Sorry I didn't make that clear in the original post, I've already tried messing around with various settings to try and emulate what I had with Lineage OS as close as possible without flashing kernels or custom roms. I was just assuming I might have missed something on OOS since I'd been using Lineage for so long

Hey did you ever figure out what the issue is? My pixel and my brother's 6p work fine but my other brother's OP5 will not work over usb

have you tried turning on O.T.G, my usb cdla headset wont work unless this is turned on

[RK3188/3066/2918] Custom Firmware Tool for Windows

Longtime lurker. But its time to contribute! I recently bought a TimingPower RK3188 and searched high and low for these tools. After endless hours of searching and translating Chinese and Japanese I brought this little package together to build your own CFW. This probably isn't for complete newbies but I made it as simple as possible. I can confirm it works on my TimingPower RK3188 using Rockchip Batch Tool as well as copying update.img to SD. Anyway, enjoy!
This is what it does:
Extract update.img as well as system.img
Pre-root your firmware
Open system folder to edit your rom
Repack update.img
I cant post links so previews are a no no I guess. Let me know how it works. If this is the wrong section I apologize.
Thanks !!
Would like to bring to your attention (as you seem the only Chef so far) :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2437990
Hope you can help contribute to the thread, and possibly have the first full solution, root, CWM, CFW, custom ROM
Thanks! I was looking for a material Quick installation!

Okay Windows 8 users should try this. RAR attached
Hi, I also bought a TimingPower RK3188 and was wondering where can I find Roms for it? Like a Finless Rom that might work for it? Anyone? Thanks!

I am quite happy with them. However, some notes are in order. I received them with firmware 20130715 installed, and that does not support 1080p. The timingpower.com website offers 2 updated images for it, one 20131101, the other 20131104. The 20131101 image has some improvements over the 20130715 version, but still offers only 720p, but the 20131104 version does offer 1080p. I updated both units to the 1104 version, and it went smoothly, but it can be a bit unstable at times. The screen and sound cut out at random intervals, but I got used to that, even thought it is quite annoying. Overall the picture is amazing (i use it on a 65" flat screen). Speed is acceptable, not a gaming computer, but fast enough. Takes a bit to get used to using it, keep wanting to right-click stuff for options, and get dumped back a screen.
Suggest that you get a USB 2 hub (more ports are better). I connected a USB keyboard, USB mouse and USB camera (all cheap, nothing fancy), and they all worked fine. However, the tiny Bluetooth keyboard (IS11-BT05) that I got, doesn't seem to work. It pairs up just fine, and shows as recognized, but after that, nothing.
One caution note: if you do flash your device, make sure that you use a newer computer, with USB 2.0 , really old PC's with USB 1.1 will not work.
Making your own version of the ROM shouldn't be too difficult. Plenty of advise here, and there are even some tools available on the TimingPower site. I'm in the middle of customizing mine, and I have not found it particularly difficult. I mainly want to scrap some of the basic stuff, and make it more sleek (to my tastes). I am also considering incorporating a dual-boot option, for Android <-> Linus (not sure of what flavor yet).
BTW, I have an English translated version of the Chinese RKBatchTool Manual, should anyone need it.
thanks!
KitKat for CS968
I have been using your program to root my CS968 and other rockchip tv boxes running 4.2. I have now installed 4.4 rom, but you program does not work on KitKat. Does anyone know how to root a kitkat rom for my RK3188 CS968? I would be most greatfull.

I'm not with AT&T but I can make and receive calls, except that if I don't enter the area code when dialing, the phone app crashes. I can still call even if the app crashed. Other than that, so far so good.
Edit: There's a time bug also as blackroseMD1 said.
Seems like it has the time bug too, where the clock will fall behind by minutes or hours (or freeze completely) after the phone has been put down for a while. Unfortunately that's a killer bug since it messes with alarms.

I am on AT&T and I was having the same issue on another rom. I believe it is because the roms are based off of the international version of the phone. I've only seen VOLTE work on the AT&T stock rom. To fix this I just called customer care and had them de-provision my line for VOLTE.

Try going into Developer Options and then going to "Select USB Configuration". Usually changing that to Audio Device and then back to MTP makes the internal SD show up on my PC.

[ROM] Nexus 7 (2013) Timur's v4.0 Android 6.0.1 MOB30X (Flo/Deb)

Howdy...
Starting today Timur announces on his website his final "ROM modification" "Timur's Kernel" in it's latest version for stock Android 6.0.1 MOB30X as a xmas giveaway until January 21st, 2017. It's availavle for the Nexus 7 (2013) Flo and Deb:

You may also find it rather amusing, that he's giving access to the sources on github:

Seems pretty apparent that nobody knows... Why don't you try it and let us know?
Been testing this Kernel out for a couple weeks now, was aiming for a permanent install but decided to test it out before I went ahead and made the mods to the center console. My hardware includes a UCA202, a Sweex 4 Port USB Hub, a USB2.0 Digital DVB-T SDR+DAB+FM HDTV TV Tuner Receiver Stick RTL2832U+R820T all bought from Amazon. Now am not sure if my hardware is just plain crap coz am forced to reboot the tablet quite a lot. USB communications drops a lot, while poweramp can regain communication with USB and continue to send signal to the amp I always have to reboot for wavesink and SDRtouch to regain communication with the DVB dongle. At this stage I've ruled out permanent install.
What is everybody else's experience?
Can't the features be extracted and implemented to other roms?
Slightly off topic -> has anyone used the 2013 for a dash install and found anything with reasonable battery life?
im DL'ing this kernel right now for a test run, but has anyone used any rom/kernel combo that can stay in standby for more than a few days?

It depends. I've had it, with Lollipop, lose 2% over 48hours on my stripped system. That's unusual though.

where do you get these files?
USBHost kernel (flo601) + service installer.....aka, timur-services + timur-usbhost
With TWRP recovery running, the tablet should now appear as a USB drive on your PC. This lets you copy the three zip archives required for the next step over: timur-services, timur-usbhost and SuperSU. Make sure these three files are available on the tablet's internal sdcard. Then install the three zip files (timur-services + timur-usbhost before SuperSU!), using the TWRP on-screen UI. Note that whenever you update the kernel (usbhost), you will also need to re-install SuperSU afterwards. - OK, done. You can now restart system and boot into Android OS.

Is it possible to install Cyanogenmod on a GT I9507?

Was just wondering if it was possible and if so, what version of Cyanogenmod would I need?
First off, there is no more CyanogenMod. The CyanogenMod people started a new project called Lineage.
Now to answer your question. Yes, it is possible.
The Optimized LineageOS ROM should work on your device.

The install process is a subjective matter.
For me it's easy since I've been doing these things for over 4 years.
For you it might seem complicated at first.
There are various guides and video tutorials that will show you how to do it. The process is usually the same for every phone and for every ROM.

Fair enough, I guess I'll have to educate myself on the matter before attmepting to install anything.
I do have a couple more questions;
1. Does Lineage improve performance and battery life like Cyanogenmod claims to do?
2. I think Lineage is based on a newer OS (Android 7.x.x) then my phone natively supports (Android 5.0.1), would that be an issue?

Yes, although the LineageOS guys, the XDA community and devs (who work on it for free, during their spare time) manage to port the last version of Android to this device, you can expect some bugs, a degraded camera quality (because of proprietary blobs Samsung do not publish), and to loose some functionalities (smart pause, smart scroll).
However, the stock Android experience is worth the switch and you will learn a lot of things here, which is invaluable.
Try the unofficial LineageOS by side (original development forum).
Ok, thanks for the answers
Last question, would you be able to send me a download link to it? I couldn't find the right one for my phone.

I already told you, you need the Optimized Lineage ROM. It has your device listed as "supported".
It's in the GT-I9505 Original Development section. Impossible to miss, it's always around the top of the list.
And it is universal, meaning that there is no special version for your device.
Do note that the developer himself has a GT-I9505, and so do most of his test team members. So there's no guarantee that it will be a flawless experience.
Sorry, I must've missed that. Will report back once I get it installed
Thanks for all the help
Edit: On the download page there's two different versions
"Optimized-LineageOS-14.1-20170120-jflte-AROMA.zip"
and

Use the stock kernel. On the download page there should be an "extras" folder.
If you can't find it then download the aroma version and flash it. This one gives you some options during the install process.
Thanks, that fixed the issue.
Got another question,
How do I make my phone show up on my PC? Like it shows up as "GT-I9507" but when I open it, it's just empty. Before on stock Android it had 2 main folders, something like "Internal" or "System" and "SDCard" and they both had multiple subfolders.

Will Lineage OS make my Device compatible with the ps3 Sixaxis controller app?

Hey there,
am trying to get the sixaxis app to work with my p9 lite now, but the applications lists my devices as "incompatible" as it can't get the device's Bluetooth driver configured properly. I read somewhere that the required packages to access this driver is not available on the stock rom but it is available in Cyanogen mod/ lineage OS . if someone can confirm this, it would be a great help, cause i don't want to go through the hassle of installing everything back just to find that the device is still incompatible anyways...
PS: as a proof on concept, i have a galaxy grand prime with Cyanogen mod already running on it, the app worked fine and the controller paired there, but still maybe the device was compatible anyway even without Cyanogen mod on.
