Help! App not connecting to Network/ Server. - OnePlus 5 Questions & Answers

Hello guys I need your help my 1+5 8GB model is having issues with few of my gaming apps that requires network connection (Mobile Legends, Marvel).
I'm on T-Mobile network, it works flawlessly in my S8+. But when I used it to my 1+5 I get network errors in my games and some social media apps too. I tried making another apn. The results are still the same. ?

Hi, I was looking for a post that can be related with my issues. You have this issue only with Cellular DATA? My issues is that some APPS don't detect a network connection. The built-in VPN is one of them and the other one is CSIP, my VOIP client. See if you can configure a VPN connection on your phone, it doesn't matter the server or credentials. If you have the same issue it won't even try to connect. All my APPs work fine on Wifi, it is just on Cell DATA where I experience this issue.

Try setting APN Protocol to IPv4 or IPv4/IPv6. See if that helps. You may need to create a new APN setting.

I did exactly what you said and it works. The problem is the the APN automatically assigned has APN protocol on IPV6. I checked another T-Mobile SIM on a OP2 and it has many more APN options than my OP5. And the one my OP5 uses with IPV6 the OP2 has it IPV4/IPV6. Thank you so much for the info.

Wi-Fi router

All
I have my htc setup to both internet sharing and Wi-Fi connection on my work PC with a lan connection. On both of these connections e.g. wired USB and wireless i can get the internet for about 3 minutes then it stops working. Is there some sort of block? I did see a while back that the WiFi app has no restrictions...
Any help would be superb.
Cheers

Thats a little odd, there is certainly no block and I have had the wifi router running for a good 30-40 minutes without failing.
what part is failing, is the phone no longer running the wifi router, or is the pc no longer getting internet on that network connection?
If you need help on how to find this info just reply and I can walk you through some more diagnostic steps.
The phone is still running just the internet stops on the machine. I have to stop the wi fi on the phone then start again then connect. I think it might be t-mobile but the internet on the phone is fine
are you in the uk?
if you connect your laptop to the phone via the wifi router you should be able to right click the network logo, click on status and view the wifi network info, it should tell you in there if it has internet access on that network connection.
If you try this again and when it fails check this status window and see if windows is seeing an internet connection or not?
when the net fails again try and visit http://72.14.203.100/ (this should be the google homepage) if you see google then there is a dns problem if it still says network timeout or failed to connect or something like that then we will have to dig further.
LOL thanks for your help. I am in the UK. ive been working in IT for the last 12 years and I know and have done the test, its not the machine it has something to do with the phone or t-mobile network
Sorry to hijack your thread a little, but I'm on the T-Mobile Network in the UK too (except I'm using a Touch Pro with a custom ROM), and although I can make connections from the PC to websites using the IP address, the DNS isn't working so I can't resolve domain names.
Any ideas?
Cheers,
Steve.

It must be the phone then since I do use wifi router, I am on t-mobile and in the UK and I do not experience this :S
I seem to be saying this more and more but maybe you should try a hard reset and see if that fixes the problem?

This is likely an issue with the way your machine has been setup to connect to the wifi network. Try visting the properties of the network and vieing the dns settings for the tcp/ipv4, It should be set as Obtain DNS server addresses automatically. If it is set like this then try setting it too 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 these are googles, dns servers if this works for you then you could stick with this or do some further digging as to why you are not getting the dns server addresses automatically like you should be.

Setting the DNS entries to Google's makes it work, but attempting to get the DNS Server's automatically leaves me with no ability to resolve domain names. How strange?
Thanks for the workaround, not sure where to start looking to fix it properly.

Steve.
Hey guys,
I am new to this wifi router thing and got the following questions:
1. To be able to use it, you must have data connection with your provider. Am I right?
2. By any chance, can I use this system by using a sim taken out of a prepaid mobile broadband dongle and inserted into my device (htc touch HD)?
3. Once I get connected can I surf the internet/check emails etc from within the device itself without the need to use a laptop?
Please don't mind these basic stupid questions.
cheers

[Q] Losing Proxy Server on Telstra APN Settings

All,
I recently ugraded to the HD2 and despite some early Factory resets, I've managed to keep the standard ROM and still operate in a reliable fashion.
My issue is with the default Telstra APNs and the fact that the standard one are locked from even being able to view the settings.
At some random period after a Factory reset, the Network stops connecting to the Telstra Account and Data usage pages.
I recreated manual networks based on the tips in the thread:
HD2 Telstra ROM Data for non Telstra ROM users
and again the sites were accessible for a period and then again they stop working. I rechecked the HTTP Proxy setting in my manually created APN and foudn the HTTP server field was empty. I re-added the 10.1.1.181:80 and the Testra sites work again.
Can any one confirm if Activesync or WinPC Network connection can somehow override the Proxy settings or remove them (My Activesync PC usually connects via LAN proxy in 10.X.X.X range) as I believe that is what's happening to my default Telstra.internet APN but I can't get in to check it. I don't want to have to re-enter the proxy every few days.
Any guidelines for how to prevent Activesync screwing with Mobile connections?
Great resource you are all providing here. Thanks in advance.
Belated reply
I have the same problem on Android and I'm not using active sync,
though it doesn't happen on every ROM I've tried, so it may be ROM related.
After you create /change an APN, press the windows key and save it,
Then reboot your phone. Seems to have solved my problem so far.
Hope this helps someone.
Cheers.

[Q] APN - IPv6 does not work?

I have a rooted LG G2 and as far as I can remember with all my roms, IPv6 LTE APN does not work. Only ipv4. It might be a placebo, but I always felt like the ipv6 provided a better data connection.
I know the setting are correct. I had the exact same setting when I had a SGS4, and some roms come with the IPv6 setting built in, but once selected, no data is established.
Any ideas?

Wifi thethering: connected device does not get IP address

Hello, I am trying to use my (rooted, Android 6.0.1) Moto X Play as WiFi hotspot for an iPhone 5S. I have setup the hotspot with WPA2 PSK.
On the iPhone I can see the network, connect, enter password. The connection then gets an orange text "No internet connection". When I check the settings, the IP address is in the 169.254 range, and the DNS and router/gateway IP addresses are empty.
I tried both 2,4 GHz and 5 GHz, with the same result.
I also tried to connect to the hotspot from a laptop running Windows 10. That one also did not get an IP address.
What do I need to do to make the Wifi hotspot function?
In your apn settings in your phone look for apn type. It should say default. Add a comma "," and "supl"

Where am I supposed to do that? On the phone acting as a hotspot or on the phone (or laptop) that is connecting to it?
On my phone (which I want to use as a hotspot) the APN showed "default". I added ",supl", but that did not help. Turned phone off and on again, same result.
According to this website the supl APN type:
Indicates the current APN configuration may be used for Secure User Plane Location (SUPL) data, a feature that allows your phone to determine its geographic location from the carrier.
Normally, SUPL data will be able to use the same APN configuration as general internet data, so there will be no need to specify this value explicitly: it will be covered by "default" and will still work fine.
BTW: Yesterday the iPhone could connect to another iPhone, which was acting as a hotspot.

Viber/Skype not working on mobile data

Viber and Skype applications remain disconnected on mobile data. The applications work fine on wifi. My service provider is T-Mobile. Is anyone else seeing this issue?
setting the APN protocol to IPv4 or IPv4/IPv6 worked.
