Really, really poor bluetooth audio quality? - Sprint LG G6 Questions & Answers

On my G6, I have really terrible audio quality over Bluetooth connections, I've had two separate G6s, of different colors, received weeks apart, and they both suck for Bluetooth audio, especially my Sony car stereo, and LG Tone Free... can anybody else report on their experience? Does your LS993 sound awful on your Bluetooth devices?

Have a fairly new G6 bluetooth og Bose earpiece working very well, also on 2010 F150 pick up and 2012 Buick no audio issues. Audio has been fine so far.

Mine also is pretty poor. The volume level is about half the level of the satellite radio or fm stations in my car

Hello all.
I had G2 in the past and I use to listen music in my car, using Bluetooth connection to Pioneer head unit. I have Spotify premium account and I have my Playlist downloaded with the best quality. However once I got G6 a week ago I noticed that audio quality from the g6 with the same songs, same Playlist, same Spotify account, is not as good as it was with g2. So I did a short research and found a thread in the net where people reported the same problem.
A guy from the thread suggested to disconnect all other Bluetooth devices from the phone (like smart watch or band) and actually that solved my problem. I have MiBand2. Once I disconnected it the audio quality became as good as before.
So guys, if you have a smart watch, try to remove it and check the quality again. I hope that helps.

I went a couple of months with no issues on my Kia Optima, then suddenly, I started getting really bad aliasing on the highs. As said above, I turned off my Huwaei watch and the sound was normal again. After a bit, I turned my watch back on, and it remained fine.
I had it happen once again many weeks later; and again, a quick off - wait - on, cycle with the watch fixed it. So whatever it is, seems to be a bandwith allocation issue with the bluetooth software. From March '17 thorugh almost Sept '17 and I've only had to do this twice? I think I can live with this.

Hey heres something for you to try..
Download WiFi Scanner from App Store.. Look at your 2.4ghz networks.. then keep in mind your cordless phones, IP Cams, Walkie Talkies, baby monitors in your area.. You may be a victim of signal interference.
Bluetooth operates on the 2.4ghz spectrum along with a TON of other devices now available.
Your sony stereo may be the culprit.. if is an aftermarket "Xplod" deck
Im an audiophile, and my G6 runs better than my Samsungs.. (also no issues with the "preventative volume warning"
What you also may have is an app that is causing the volume to lower...
For example.. when i stream the music player with the stock app, sometimes Snapchat notification sounds cause the rest of the volume to be lower..
Google Maps is another one that can hijack the sound but you can control in settings.
For using music try a different app ( i use Maple Player) and it works great ..
Based on your experiences i think its something outside causing the problem to be honest. but thats ALOT of trial and error to deal with.. if worse comes to worse- you can always get an aux jack bluetooth adapter for your car stereo if it IS the stereos bluetooth receiver .

Bluetooth Audio Quality

I paired up my new Focus with my 2010 Acura TL yesterday. As I was driving home from work and talking, the volume from the car's speakers ranged from high to low and eventually dropped the call. I thought it could signal strength related but I had 5 bars so I tried again. This time the call didn't drop but the audio was horrible. Since yesterday I've tried to make calls in several areas of town and the call quality is just not very clear. If I talk and listen normally through the handset, the call quality is good. I have an HD2 that doesn't have this issue so I am wondering if this is Windows 7 related...
i have a bmw and have experienced similar results at times. though i think my iphone did have its own set of problems sometimes also. i have noticed the increase/decrease in volume before, though. it would be nice to know the source of the problem. likely the phone, not the OS i would think. my phone has never disconnected yet.
i don't make a lot of calls in my bmw really, but i'm getting addicted to the WP7 so i don't really feel like i will be able to trade in and go back to the iphone at this point if the problem is with the focus and not just needing a software update. though it would be nice to have an answer.
I am also disappointed in the quality of the Bluetooth connection between my Focus and my Acura TL (2009). I had the Focus with the same car, and no problems with the Bluetooth connection. With the Focus, the sound quality is terrible, and I often lose the connection between the Focus and the car. Not a dropped call, this can happen with 5 bars, its the bluetooth connection that drops.
Has anyone been able to improve their bluetooth connection?
The bluetooth in my 2008 Altima is useless with the Focus. It's all garbled up and just unusable. My original AT&T Tilt was the same way. I think it has something to do with the Bluetooth stacks used in these phones. Sadly, Nissan isn't planning on updating the firmware in their handsfree kit for my car, so I just got a good Blueant headset. Not the ideal solution, but it's better than nothing since I drive a stick!
I use mine with a clarion deck. Works and sounds flawless.
I have an aftermarket Sony deck in my car.. Bluetooth call quality is generally good but when it comes to audio streaming..it's hit or miss. I'd say 50% of the time there is always a loud 'hissing' sound in the background which makes the music sound like I was playing it off an old cassette. Other times the music is absolutely crystal clear without any hissing or background noise what so ever..as if I was playing it off a USB drive or CD. I use Slacker to stream music or songs stored on the phone through Zune.. same thing. At times I have to reestablish the Bluetooth connection several times before the hissing disappears.
I use my focus with a Sony BT Stereo and works fine. And all the in/out calls works flawless. Maybe is the BT profile (if the stereo don't have AD2P profile, the phone works in mono instead stereo).
I have the same problem with the sound volume going up and down. 2006 Range Rover. I finally gave up on using bluetooth in the car. My orevious HTC Focus and my wifes iPhone both work fine in the car
I have the Sony MW600 Stereo BT headset and a 2010 Mazda 3, both work flawlessly

[Q] Spotty Bluetooth Performance?

I'm able to connect my Atrix to my JVC double din in car stereo system via bluetooth and it connects and pairs just fine. The problem I have is that the music "skips" or loses sound every few 20 to 30 seconds. It plays the whole music file but seems to drop out here and there. My old tilt 2 played on this same jvc beautifully using bluetooth. But the Atrix cant keep up? It happens no matter if I play music files through the stock android music player, or Power Amp player. What gives?
I also have a JVC Kw-Avx810 with bluetooth adapter installed. I have the same problem, for calls it works perfectly but for music its a bitt frustrating to hear music skipping each 30 seconds. Sometimes I am able to hear the music without skipping and that happens when I first play the music on the phone and while the music is playing on the phone I turn on bluetooth on the phone and the after 10 seconds it begins to stream the music to the Jvc Unit without any problem. I do that every time that I wanna hear music on my Jvc unit. Havent had any more issues so far.
I use it for my ford sync and at times it will do strange things that my nokia n95 never did but for the most part it works well...

I had a similar problem when I had my streak. It was because I was pairing Audio with one device and bt phone with another. If you are doing this it will cause that. I use my Sony stereo just fine, will disconnect occasionally, but quality is great.
I use my atrix with my prius, and so far so good.I haven't had disconnect issues yet.
I think it's something JVC could probably fix with a firmware update. The atrix streams just fine to both my Sony and Kenwood headunits.
I have the same problem.
http://www.avforums.com/forums/car-entertainment-ice-sat-nav/539264-help-jvc-avx33-bluetooth.html
http://www.jvc-victor.co.jp/english/car/bluetooth/2007.html
The key terms: "Usable but not stable" , although it was not tested with Atrix, it is evidenced on both HTC and Motorola phones.
Great move JVC .. you've made your product useless to me and tarnished your reputation at the same time. Couldn't get your guys to write a new firmware ... Cant get me to buy another one of your products.
The same looks very like it will be true with Motorola's Andriod phones. Both JVC and Motorola will soon be wiped off my present or future ownership map. Woooo
Mine drops out/ goes silent / loses bt connection about once every 8-12 minutes when connected to my sony head unit (mex-bt5100). I turn off bt then back on, then restart my streaming radio.

I have a jvc double din unit too. I don't experience any issues with audio... however the phone is a bit garbled when connected.
Have you tried moving the bluetooth dongle to the front USB port?
Sent from my MB860 using XDA Premium App
i Have a single DIN (AVX33), the bluetooth is built-in so there is no dongle.
I read quite a bit about this problem .. it is related to the phone hands free profile sending signals to the headunit in a way that the headunit cannot handle without disturbing audio. It is exasberhated by low signal strength (both bluetooth signal and GSM signal), and also by the fact some andriods will give equal transmit priority to these hands-free signals that it does streaming audio. This is why turning wifi off helps a little (reduces interference). The signals that are interfering with streaming audio are the ones about battery life, and GSM signal strength. As signal strength chagnes, the phone sends out a new value despite the headunit not needing to do anything with it. This is what interupts the audio consistently but irregularly
End result .. it can be fixed by software adjustment on the andriod (do not send updates when streaming audio .. unlikely with Atrix unless Moto gets their thumbs out of their asses), by software adjustment on the receiver (unlikely as JVC is a **** company that does not care about my woes), or by mitigating the problem as I appear to be forced to do. I do this by turning off the "phone" porition of the bluetooth. Or by starting the music and THEN connecting to bluetooth. Unacceptable to me but I have no other options.
I f**king hate how complex our electronics have become and how consumers are powerless to fix these problems DESPITE the fact some of them have a higher level understanding of what the problem actually is. (therefoer I will not be purchasing anything from JVC or Motorola ever again. They prevent me from solving problems and refuse to fix them for me.)

[Q] Bluetooth audio quality

Is there any way to fix the bluetooth audio quality other than switching to a CM-based ROM?
My old phone over bluetooth sounds fine. My S4 via a wired connection sounds fine. My S4 over bluetooth sounds like everything was sampled at 32 kHz. All other equipment is the same, so I'm relatively sure it's a bluetooth-specific issue. My girlfriend's S4 does the same thing.
So, any fixes? I'd really like to avoid switching to an aftermarket ROM right now.

Random guess: Could this issue be caused by the adaptive sound feature? I'm not a true audiophile, but I haven't noticed a problem through my receiver in the car or at home.
Try playing something with cymbals and a lot of treble. Turn the volume up a bit higher than normal while still maintaining a reasonable level. The cymbals sound like someone is smacking a plastic grocery bag with a stick instead of being crisp and clean like they should be. I can then disconnect the S4, connect my old phone, and play the same mp3 without any sound distortion. Or I can play the same mp3 from the S4 via aux and it sounds fine.
Try it on both bluetooth and aux. If you truly don't notice a difference, I guess it must just be my phone. If it does do it however, you definitely don't need to be an audiophile to hear it.
My old phone had the exact same problem until I moved to JB on a CM build. The problem there is well-documented as existing on the S3 (try looking up bitpool settings), but I kind of figured they would have fixed it by now. I'm coming from the world of HTC, so I was hoping there is a fix for Samsung.
Sorry to revive this thread, but I have an update.
My car has built-in bluetooth for phone only, so no a2dp. I have a third-party bluetooth adapter that I'm using for music.
I've found that when both of these are connected, the audio quality (especially on trebles and guitars with distortion) is absolutely terrible. That was the point of my original post. Since then, I've determined that this happens ONLY when I am paired with both my car and my third-party bluetooth. I can actually pair and unpair from my car in real time and hear the audio quality immediately get better/worse. The quality gets worse immediately when it pairs, even if the car bluetooth is not in use (but still connected).
I've verified this is the case with both my phone and my girlfriend's S4. Can anyone with such a setup verify this does or does not happen for them? I'm thinking this is a bug with the bluetooth stack, and it'd be nice if it could be fixed. If anyone can try pairing to two different devices and confirm my problem, I'll start a bug report with Samsung. Otherwise I'll try another bluetooth adapter for a2dp.

Issues with Bluetooth Audio

I'm starting to think my phone is defective... Anyone having issues with Bluetooth audio? Paired it to 2 different cars of different manufacturers (obviously not at the same time) and the phone randomly disconnects and/or "lags" when it's playing offline Spotify songs. Rebooted and it didn't make a difference. Anyone else?

had no trouble pairing with my car and it connects extremely fast. way faster than my note 7 or note 4. using the phone as well in the car works great. might be your phone
No problems in my Acura as well. I like how you can quickly choose what device to play A2DP with. Very convenient. Try to re-pair the devices in both cars. Also, remember to clear the devices (as well as all past devices no longer in use), from the car's computer.
I am seeing some similar issues. PocketCast randomly pauses and restarts while streaming, Spotify instead experiences random volume increases and decreases. New 2016 Ram with updated uconnect.
No issues with my 2012 Mazdaspeed 3 - it actually works bettr than my Samsung phones
I had some issues at the beginning to connect to my Golf 2015 but after it worked out everything works great now.
No problem connecting to my 2012 Chrysler. Only problem is now I can not see any info streaming. Anyone have a fix for this. Spotify, Pandora or mp3
No problem with my subaru
same issue with my volvo
The last two versions of Spotify have been terrible (6.3 and 6.5) they both have bluetooth issues. I suggest trying to downgrade to 6.2 and see if that resolves the issue.
I couldn't control music at all with Bluetooth under version 6.3 or 6.5, they would work for 5 min then stop working if you need more directions on how to do this just reply here.

I am experiencing the same issues when connected to my aftermarket car stereo. I find that it is happening with local audio book files in two different apps. The audio gets garbled and cuts out completely, but the app keeps going, so no pauses. This is driving me crazy! Hopefully LG has a fix soon!
I lost connection to my BT speaker when I went out on my deck yesterday. That was never an issue with my G3. Its only about 20 feet.

Pretty sure it's Spotify....I've had all kinds of issues with Spotify since the last update. I loose button control in my Camry, and on my lg tone platinum headphones. Also the the widget quits working and the album art screen quits showing up... No fix yet
Problem could be with nougat!! Pixel users are having issues as well.
I know most dont speak about 7.0 or the V20 but We are currently the only one with 7.0 and the V20 which dont get much press.

Couple of things to try and narrow down:
1. Bluetooth hardware (4.2 BLE for us), so software/hardware versions of both bluetooth and radio unit for the host is the variable...
2. Bluetooth music choice (spotify, music player etc.)
3. Is location of app and/or music files on external sd card?
4. Ensuring theres a "media audio" profile on your BT connection. This can be checked by going to the BT settings of the paired device on your phone.
Personally I've had a good experience with this phone compared to the v10 or even the s7 edge. Music meta data displays on the host unit (aftermarket Pioneer AVH-X4800BS in a '13 Chrysler 200 S type). Audio and mic sound better than the other phones but i have no testing to prove it...
Please post your info and maybe we can narrow it. I have some tech experience dealing with this so I'll try and help
Here's my setup:
1. Pioneer AVH-X4800BS. BT hardware 3.0, software C406 (stock software, needs updating) and radio unit firmware 08.15
2. Spotify and LG music player
3. Downloaded to internal sd card. Streaming as well.
4. Media audio profile present and activated.
Cheers
Edit: I also was experiencing the audio skipping and music player unresponsiveness prior to the v20. My initial guess is the music app goes in the foreground and doesnt get almighty priority treatment that nougut should be giving it if all the above is setup correctly.
An update to my issues as well as my setup to help things along:
On travel last week, my rental car was a Nissan Versa (puke), however, streaming bluetooth with spotify 6.5 worked flawlessly.
Came back to my beloved Ram, cleared both my phone and Uconnect bluetooth connections, repaired my device, and now I am seeing no issues with bluetooth streaming, either spotify or pocketcasts, with the exception of no album art or track time counting. It shows total track time, just no progress.
I believe my issues are with the UConnect system, as it has been a pain in the rear since I bought it last month. Sirius XM resets constantly, cannot connect via USB and Bluetooth at the same time and select USB as the source, etc. (was the same with my iPhone 6 Plus)
My setup:
1. UConnect 5.0 (RA2) Not sure what version of Bluetooth
2. Spotify 6.5 and Pocketcasts
3. Downloaded to internal SD card and streaming
4. Media audio profile present and activated.
I have a 2014 Buick and have the same issue. Works fine then will beggin to studder. Doesnt matter if is local mp3 or streamed from google.. However, as i type, it is the same app. But I am doubtful that is the issue as i get delayed text messages on the vehicle as well. If it is a defective unit i am bummed cuz I just dropped it yesterday and it now owns a a gnarly scuff, took the drop well tho.
I have an LG Urbane as well that also experiences some lag with inbound alerts.
Having streaming issues (DI.FM) in my 2016 Mustang. Stutters, and skips. I'll try to re-pair and see if that works. My S7 Edge worked great, kinda frustrating with the V20. I've also cleared the s& from the Ford Sync. LTE is very strong during my whole commute.
So after I googled a bit more I found a suggestion and it worked for me. Basically go to settings > apps > system apps > bluetooth and force stop the service and clear cache then reboot.. Been smooth since, not sure if this is a permanent fix but if you are having issues its worth a shot.

Bluetooth Audio Stuttering with Spotify

Hey guys,
I was just wondering if anyone who has the LG V20 in their hands is also experiencing any Bluetooth Audio (A2DP) audio stuttering or skipping?
I have the AT&T version that I got early through preorder and when I am listening to music on my Ford Sync 3 in my car it is skipping and stuttering like crazy. It doesn't always do it but when it does, it is nonstop.
Not sure if anyone has suggested fixes... It does it both screen on and screen off. I don't think it's sleep related.

Could be on to something... Both Ford Sync 3 and UConnect are both made using BlackBerry owned QNX software. I wonder if something isn't jiving right between the two.
Because I have Plantronics BackBeat Sense and LG Tone Platinum headphones and neither have any issues with Spotify. Only has an issue in my car.
I even went as far as to master reset my car stereo to see if that helped. Could have something to do with the Spotify AppLink app that runs when in the car but not on a regular headset.
Try closing some apps. Also does Spotify have a cache or buffer option you can make bigger? Other than those two problems it could be signal from cellular or Bluetooth interference.
I have closed apps but have not messed with cache or buffer. I also see that track time doesnt count on screen with uconnect via Bluetooth some of the time. Truck is less than a month old and updated. Worked with my iPhone 6 plus, with the exception of album art and not being able to choose USB vs Bluetooth if both were connected. The LG isn't even detected via USB (most likely a USB C issue). I am in an airport right now and hopefully my rental will have Bluetooth to test out another connection.
I am having an issue controlling spotify when using Bluetooth in my Jetta. I can't skip tracks or control at all from my cars touch screen or controls on the steering wheel. Never had this issue with other android devices. Not sure what to do to fix but very frustrating! I have tried uninstalling spotify, wiping and repairing the phone with the car....not sure what else to do. The controls worked only the first day I had the phone. I have smart settings turned off as I thought that may have been interfering.
This is going to sound crazy, but...
I'm having the skipping/stuttering issue in my Lincoln MKC with Sync 3, but ONLY when stopped at a red light or stop sign. When driving above 20 MPH it works perfectly. This is happening in Spotify and my podcast app, and all files are stored on the phone, so it's not a slow cell connection. I just replaced my Note 7 with the V20 and the Note never had any bluetooth issues, so I'm assuming it's an LG issue that hopefully can be fixed with a firmware update.

You are not crazy. I thought I was because I have this exact same problem. I use Google Play Music, but when I am stopped (or going under about 5mph) the Bluetooth stutters. Over 5mph and its flawless. I have version 2.2 of the Sync 3 software. I am using the LG V20 and that is the only device I have tried.
Have you been able to find a solution? This is the weirdest thing I've ever experienced.

I just purchased the V20 on Friday and I've had this streaming issue every time I get into my car! I have a 2017 MKZ and it's only in the car. I have an LG bluetooth headset that it doesn't skip with. I paired my husband's Beats and it doesn't skip there either--ONLY in the car. I just read about someone having issues at a lower speed--I haven't been on the freeway yet, so I cannot attest to low speeds, but it's interesting. I'm a computer geek and I'm stumped! I paired it to a Sony soundbar in Best Buy today and it didn't skip AT ALL! Grrrrr!

I was running errands in Houston, close to the house, so no chance for a freeway trip yet to see if it mirrors your 20mph issue. Please reply to this forum if you end up finding a fix!

Stuttering on Bluedio T3 Turbine Headphones
I already tried all the possible solutions from the internet. Below is the summary:
Safe Mode - still stutter
Battery Optimization OFF for Bluetooth and Music App - still stutter
Wifi OFF - still stutter
Clear data of Bluetooth and T3 Headphones - still stutter
All other bluetooth earphone or speaker - no stutter
This is weird, since the Bluedio T3 I had works fine from my old HTC 10 phone. I switched to V20 since I had charging issues with my HTC 10.
I chose V20 since it has lots of PROS and I'm a music lover.
Please help.. thanks.
