Problem transferring files from SD-card to computer - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Hi all!
I got the new S8, and wanted to take my SD-card from my S7 over to my new phone.
However, i wanted to back up the photos and other stuff to my laptop by copying them over - but it doesnt work. Get "an unexpected error" message as soon as it starts.
What can i do?
USB debugging is on, screen is on and MTP is selected when connecting to USB.

Problem: sd card doesn't mounted

Since from the first use of device I'm not be able to access contents of sd card from pc. I have installed the latest version of htc sync available in htc' s site.
When I check the option disk drive from USB to Pc, I can see the new removable disk in file explorer, but I cannot access to this disk.
I always get the error: insert a disk to the drive M (translated to english cause my pc have greek locale).
Have anyone else this issue?
Have you tried to read the SD with an external reader?
I'm also had this problem.
I did simply repair the HTC Sync.
Restart the pc.
And then connected worked.
Some how the problem solved. I tried a lot connect disconnect, close and open htc sync, and suddently I get access to my sd card. I didn't do something different from the other tries, but this time works. First time after a lot of tries and reboots the last couple of days.
Connecting as Disk Drive is not accepted easily. I think it is always required to activate USB debugging mode first. So, simple way is first choose HTC sync mode on the phone, after it get connected change to Disk Drive mode. It works..
Thanks for the tips.
Sometimes don't work though. Needed to connect/disconnect several times to work properly. Sometimes when I connect the cable, the popup window doesn't appear(I have checked the asking option) and sync doesn't work too. And after some tries when connect the cable the popup appears and work both sync or disk option.
faulty cable perhaps?
I'm still using the charger and USB cable from my i-Mate K-Jam - works like a charm!

USB Mode Errors Windows

I was wondering if anyone has this problem. A few days ago when I mounted my SD card in usb file transfer mode. I got an errors from Windows saying it detected errors on my drive and i have the option of continue or scan & fix. When I hit continue it seems to work. However, when I hit Scan and Fix, my computer gets blue screened. I tried on another computer and the same thing happened. Any ideas? Not really an issue but more of an annoyance.
I'm running Windows 7 64-bit.

Does it on mine to.
You will need to put the SD card into a standard reader and run scan and fix with it. The HTC Hardware i think causes the issue.
Also, to avoid it from happening in the future use the "Safely Remove" stuff and Unmount the card.

Phone loses SD card

Why does my phone lose the SD memory card when i plug it in to my computer?
as soon as i plug in the usb cable, my phone loses what ever is on the SD card, and when i unplug it, the phone recognizes it again..any ideas?
thanks
When you connect the phone to your computer the computer allows you to use it as a disk drive in which you can drag and drop files onto your device. For some reason while this is happening you can not access it through your phone.
Next time you plug your phone in to your computer and a window comes up asking for activesync, diskdrive etc, press nothing (the screen goes away after 5 seconds) your phone will be completely normal and charging nicely from the computer
happy ending isnt it?

use the phone with activesync and not as a disk drive. .
You have your usb mode set as "disk drive" on the phone.
When it's so, when you connect USB the card is unmounted from the phone's OS so that the PC has direct access to it.
thanks,
where can i change that option? Is it possible to have the phone plugged in to a PC and watch a movie or music off the SD card?
Yes, if you choose activesync mode, as he said above. It normally asks you everytime you plug the USB calbe, but you most likely chose disk drive and checked the "don't ask again" checkbox. You can change it on settings tab, menu->more, connections, USB to PC.
ok, so my next question is, does activesync support windowsXP 64?
thats what we use here at work, and its giving me error messages when i try to use activesync.
What errors?
By default under Windows the software used to manage phones, which is called Activesync on XP, or WMDC on Vista/7, is not installed.
So if you plug the phone in ActiveSync mode on a PC that doesn't have it you'll see missing driver errors. If all you want is to charge the phone you can just ignore them, if you want to access the card/internal memory contents you need to download and install it.
My problem is, when i connect phone to PC with activesync and disconnect it, its working properly after this and i can use SDcard, but when connect it to pc like disc drive after disconnection off cable my phone dont see sdcard. This happening after ROM upgrade from 1.48 to 1.66. Can somone help

[HELP!] USB storage not working properly

I don't know what happened, but I can no longer mount the SD card via USB. I've spent half the afternoon trying to fix the drivers, and I end up in the exact same place I was before.
I'm running Windows 7 64-bit and CyanogenMod 6 RC2 on the phone. I have ADB set up and, to my knowledge, the drivers for it are working. ADB devices recognized my phone.
When I try to mount the SD card, the phone shows "USB storage in use," but it doesn't show up on my computer. Normally I get a little popup asking if I want to open the folder to view files. In Device Manager, it shows a little warning on USB Mass Storage Device which I believe is the phone. If I right-click and go to Properties, is says "This device cannot start. (Code10)" (see first thumbnail).
Here's the weird part: If I boot into recovery and select to mount the storage card, it will mount (see second thumbnail).
Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance.
Did you try it with a different card? Or this card in card reader? You have to rule out simple things first, like weird card corruption.
I've tried a different card. No difference.
I uninstalled all the drivers and restarted my computer. When I plugged the phone in, I got the following message. Something called MTP did not install successfully. Anyone know what to do about this?
Well, after numerous cycles of uninstalling and attempting to reinstall the drivers, I still had no idea what the problem was. I uninstalled all the drivers and ran a utility on my PC to clean and fix problems in the registry. I rebooted it and then plugged the phone in. It installed the drivers and now both ADB and USB storage work.
Strange thing is, I don't see an entry for Android ADB Interface in the device manager any more. I see Android USB Drivers and the USB Mass Storage though, so I guess that's all it needs.
