After Factory Resetting a Galaxy S7E (Verizon), custom boot animation remains. - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

I followed this guide to root my GS7Ehere.
It was lagging a lot for me after following the recommendations, so I did a factory reset. The issue remains now that whenever I turn on/off my phone the boot animation is still the "custom" animation, not the stock Verizon animation Is there a way to recover it at this point?

Hey mate, are you still rooted? Did you do a factory reset using Odin with stock firmware? What method did you use ?

I figured it out. I did a factory reset through the phone and then through Odin and the custom screen is gone. Thanks though!

Yup you go it, that's the way to do it. ??

Hi,
Could you please add a [SOLVED] tag to the title? It would help a lot .
By the way, the reason why you needed to flash stock back again to get rid of the custom boot animation is because the boot animation is in the system partition of your device, while factory reset will only wipe the data partition of your device, leaving the system modifications as they were.
All the best,
~Lord

Galaxy s Flashed wont boot

Hi
Please can someone help I flashed my Galaxy s with fyro 2.2 using odin. Since i done this it wont get past the screen that has the "S" on it gets to that then switches off.
I have tried flashing it with other firmware still get the same issue.
What am i doing wrong?
cheers
Try factory resetting through recovery. That fixed the S hang for me.
Did you have any lagfixes enabled before flashing?
I dont think i had any lagfixes enabled.
How do i reset it through recovery mode?
cheers

Using the factory reset phone option in Recovery Mode. If that doesn't work, flash a fresh stock ROM that contains DBDATA, such as XXJPU.
thanks i will give this a try and let you know how it went

[Q] Trying to factory restore the phone and nothing seems to work

So last night I tried installing a custom boot animation for my Samsung Galaxy S4, but I somehow misread the instructions and deleted some files in the /system/media directory. After a restart I noticed that I was led to a boot screen that has the Samsung logo and a padlock with custom written on the screen, after this screen passes there is darkness for a minute or so then the phone is booted into, yeah sounds okay, right? Well, after that happened I realized that my lock button won't actually lock the phone, the phone will actually continuously stay on, no matter what settings I tell the phone to lock, it's as if locking the screen now is not an option, but the lock button works if I hold it down which will give me the option to shutdown go into airplane mode and restart. I then proceeded to see if I could restore the phone to factory settings by going into the settings to factory restore but that doesn't do anything, just restarts the phone. After that I tried hard resetting which didn't work either, I wasn't even led to the GUI for hard resetting. I'm running a stock ROM on 4.4.2 Kit Kat that's rooted, an At&t I337 model. I'd just really like to factory reset the phone and I'm not sure what to do? Thanks.

If factory reset doesn't work all you need to do it is flash the stock firmware again.. So that would restore all the system files again, if u flash the official one you would have to root the phone again, or u can just install a custom ROM.
Hit thanks if I helped!

You would need Odin to flash the ROM, and a stock firmware for ur particular phone and region available at sammobile.com or you would just find one in the android development thread of this forum and the Odin just google it..

I recently tried to run ART instead of delvik and now my phone freezes just after the Samsung and Verizon boot screens. The screen reads "Android is upgrading... optimizing app 1 of 1". The phone will stay on this screen until the battery goes dead. I've already tried recovery mode and wiping the cache partition, but to no avail. Any advice or guidance to help me get my phone back in working order would be greatly appreciated.

Reinstall whatever ROM you were on. That's the only thing that worked for me. There might be another solution, but this is what I used to work. I did everything you did and it still wouldn't boot until I did a clean flash of my ROM. Hope this helps.
flash rom = factory reset?

Thanks jagrave! I guess I neglected to mention that my s5 is completely stock, so I don't have a custom ROM. Will a factory reset do the same thing?

Yes a factory reset from recovery will set it all back to stock/normal, including which runtime your using back to stock dalvik.

HELP!

I just got a new lg g2 32 gb from AT&T. I edited a few build.prop settings and now it will not boot past the LG logo. I tried factory resetting and it did not help. Any suggestions?
Build.prop settings are not replaced with a factory reset. Gonna have to flash any new ROM to replace it.
Thank you so much
Thanks, but I don't have a custom recovery and adb won't work. I can only go to the firmware update screen and the factory reset screen. Sorry to bother you, I am a complete noob.

This should get you in the right direction. Read, a lot! And for future reference, don't go tweaking stuff until you know exactly what you're doing. I think you may have learned that one already, the hard way. Good luck!

PLZ HELP!! Nexus 6p keeps booting into TWRP menu

Today and after deciding to simply restart my Nexus 6P, it booted into TWRP menu, I tried to reboot again, but no luck. can someone please help?
is there a way to get off the TWRP menu and boot my phone normally?
Note: The root used to simply work fine for about a month now.
Did you take an update? Rom details? You basically said you stuck a fork in a microwave and it sparked.

Have you tried wiping the caches and/or data? Have you tried reflashing whatever ROM you're using? Have you tried flashing the factory images with fastboot?

I will have to call you out here buddy. If you have indeed tried to flash all factory images, you won't even have TWRP in the first place.
Go to this wonderful guide by the wonderful @Heisenberg, and scroll down to "10. How To Flash The Factory Images (And Return To Stock)". You will find very clear instruction on how to return your phone to its factory stock state. This will most likely get rid of the problems you're facing.

If you had flashed the full factory images I don't see how it's possible at all to be in your current situation. Explain how you flashed them, and exactly what you flashed please.
