Phone won't boot after successful(?) root - Huawei P8 Questions & Answers

Hello,
yesterday I tried to root my Huawei P8. I've unlocked the bootloader and installed TWRP and in TWRP I installed SuperSU v2.46 (I didnt't wipe dalvik cache after that). Then I rebooted my phone and it didn't boot up, it just stayed by the pulsating Huawei logo. I let it in this process over night but still no result. Today I tried to flash the B110 recovery stock, after that the TWRP was gone and I can only access Huawei eRecovery and Bootloader mode. With some research I found another version of SuperSU v2.67 and I flashed another TWRP but that won't work, I can only access eRecovery, even after several tries and in the console it said it was successful.
I hope I made my problem clear and anybody can help me

I do not know anything with such old firmwares but I experienced similar issues with with SuperSU above B393 firmwares. I gave up the old school way of rooting and SuperSU as it coused bootloops like you described above and switched to the magisk way with the B398 firmware. Everything works. Will upload all needed files in the B398 thread in an hour or so.

Rooting Problem with P8-lite ALE-L21C185B525/B560

Hello
I am trying to root my huawei P8-Lite ALE-L21C185B525. I have tried all methods but haven't succeeded. (SuperSU , Kingoroot, etc)
I have unlocked bootloader and have also installed TWRP successfully. But when I install SuperSU zip file from TWRP and reboot, my phone stuck on Huawei logo (bootloop).
I also tried updating my firmware to B560 but my issue remains same on this updated firmware.
Is there any better way to root my phone or any solution for installing SuperSU.

You might need to install SuperSu in system-less mode. Check root tutorial form this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/p8lite/general/mega-thread-root-unbricking-updating-t3400994 thought instead of doing all steps I think it's enough to install 1.zip then flash normal SuperSu zip (if it says it's installing system-less it works) then reboot phone, you might get 1 or 2 bootloops on first boot.
Try supersu v2.62

P9 Bootloop after installing 'Elite Kernel', but can still use ADB and fastboot

Hello. a little while ago I restored my Huawei p9 lite nougat L31C440B380 rom from a bootloop thanks to tw1st3d83's P9 Lite Toolkit but since then i haven't been able root it again properly using magisk and other supersu apps because when i boot up music and sound don't play on my apps and videos on apps don't work at all, yet when i unroot my phone works normally, which is strange as i've rooted many times before with no problems. I'd been having some issues with magisk then due to installing and then deleting the viper4arise mod as apps didn't show in my drawer and magisk modules as well as the manager started to malfunction frequently. I looked around for anything that might help me fix this and came across HassanMirza01's P9 Lite elite kernel (All Variants CxxB3xx Phh Superuser v9 version and MagiskSU v10 version based on the b380 Rom) and decided to try it out. I used a special modded version of oldroid's twrp (TeamElite) https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=889764386195914200 to flash the kernels, the phh Superuser 9 version, https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=529152257862726224 , and the magiskSU 10 version, https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid...0096634768996. Because they were pre-rooted, I assumed at the time i'd be able to solve my root problem.
When i was using the kernel I noticed everything ran more smoothly than usual but sound and video still weren't working. Because the kernels were pre-rooted before i installed, i think they may have modified the boot image in such a way that even when i completely format data with twrp and do an advanced wipe, then restore the factory images including the stock boot image i extracted from the B380 rom it starts up normally but gets stuck on the loading screen. At first I thought it needed time to load so I left it to charge overnight as the battery was pretty low but i when i woke up the next morning it was still on the Huawei logo. i don't think the kernel has an uninstaller or if there's one i can flash that doesn't have root. If i flash the boot image that I patched earlier with magisk, everything loads fine but i'm still faced with the same problems with no video or sound. I've been thinking of just reflashing the stock images and then relock the bootloader so i can do three button "dload" method for a clean install of my B380 rom as i've tried to use it before and failed as i get this error message before it finishes:
write radio image...
32K crc checked failure
E:unknown command [errno]
update_huawei_pkg_from_ota_zip: update from zip failed
Updater process ended with ERROR: 7
But seeing as how the kernel has altered the boot image I can only use the boot image that I patched with magisk or supersu.
I'm definitely sure that the method won't be able to work on a phone that's rooted but what i'm more worried about is that something goes wrong and i end up in a bootloop with no way to use adb to unlock the bootloader or use recovery, pretty much bricking the device. I've looked around for other kernels i might be able to flash and restore my device like Smoky Kernel and Rusty Kernel but they didn't work at all as opposed to the Elite Kernel. Can I lock the bootloader with a rooted phone and my reinstall my stock rom with the three button method or is there another way i could go about this? I'm asking this way because every time i unroot with either magisksu elite kernel or my magisk boot image the phone will always bootloop. The TWRP version I'm on, 3.1.1-0 isn't very useful at the moment compared to when I was on MM because when I had a problem I just flash and forget, but as the stock rom has two files it's a bit harder for me to get the hang of it so i would be very grateful for where to go from here.

Re-Rooting 1+5 after OS 5.1.1 Update

So I tried updating to Oxygen is 5.0 ran into an install issue, stuck in boot loop. Lucky I had done a Nandroid back up and restore everything. The other night I decided to update to 5.1.1 thinking why not get Android 8.1.0 on my AWESOME phone. Downloaded update, placed in internal storage, booted into TWRP to do a Nandroid back up (due to issues with past update). Back up failed needed to clean drive. So I decided, phone works in Android 7.1.1, why can't what's not broken. Rebooted phone and somehow the update activated. I freaked since last time it failed and not stuck in a loop. This time update was successful but still got stuck in a boot loop. I plugged my phone to my computer and noticed all my files were gone on their install storage, no files / foldersI recognized (e.g. DCIM, DATA, DOWNLOAD, etc). Emailed One Plus and chatted with them. TWRP was gone and was back on stock recovery. Since all was lost I was asked to "Erase All". I did, rebooted and I'm now on 8.1.1 but all my stuff was lost. So I've done since searching and found FlashFire do to a Nandroid backup but need root. So my question is...
Can I re-root my phone without using TWRP but stock recovery and use FlashFire for my back ups? I am not going to flash custom ROM but if I need to flash something, wouldn't stock ROM flash anything on my phone (Magisk)?
If so, can anyone provide me with assistance on re-rooting my phone without TWRP.
Thank you
As far as i know you can't flash anything with stock recovery so you can't root. After flashing the stock os is normal that twrp is been erased by the stock. Just re flash the twrp. I mean, maybe i didn't get the problem, why you can't reflash twrp? If you do that flash twrp codeworx Universal with fastboot in the bootloader, boot in twrp, wipe cache/dalvik, flash magisk 15.3, wipe cache/dalvik, reboot system, update magisk to 16 with the app. I do that way and it worked
Hi
To root your OnePlus 5, you must to follow carefuly the steps below and take your time.
1 - Make a full backup of your data
2 - Unlock the bootloader (Note that'll erase your phone)
3 - Install another recovery : TWRP. This one : https://sourceforge.net/projects/ch...-20180414-codeworkx-cheeseburger.img/download
4 - Flash the full rom Oxygen OS 5.1.1 : http://otafsg.h2os.com/patch/amazon...23_OTA_034_all_1804201219_3824995916a49ee.zip
5 - Install magisk : https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk/releases/download/v16.0/Magisk-v16.0.zip
6 - Clear cache / Dalvik
7 - You're all done, reboot the phone
8 - Once your phone has booted up, install magisk manager : https://github.com/topjohnwu/MagiskManager/releases/download/v5.7.0/MagiskManager-v5.7.0.apk
Check this tread, that'll help you as well : https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-5/how-to/oneplus-5-unlock-bootloader-flash-twrp-t3624877

Hello, thanks for the info and yes, I did try flashing Magisk with stock recovery, while waiting for a reply and can confirm installation failed. So if I reflash TWRP, flashing Magisk using TWRP will work. Therefore, do you have instructions (step-by-step) on how to install TWRP. I have downloaded the latest TWRP image from their website (twrp-3.1.1-1 cheeseburger) onto my desktop. Bootloader is already unlocked as I was previously rooted under Android 7.1.
Thank you.

This is the official guide step by step, scroll down until you find "flashing twrp" if you had already unlocked the bootloader ( you already did that right??? xD). Anyway about the recovery and magisk version. The guys in the 5.1.1 thread advised to flash magisk 15.3 instead the 16 and only after the system reboot to make the upgrade to 16 with magisk app (dunno why). But when i tried to do that the last version of twrp (3.1.1-1) failed the flash. So i flashed the twrp 3.1.1-0-universal and 15.3 magisk. I can confirm this combination work, i can't tell for other combinations.

Bootloop?

So I just got my Nexus 6p today and I've tried rooting this thing but it just kept making me stuck on the google logo. I successfully unlocked the bootloader and installed TWRP but everytime I installed from ZIP SuperSU or Magisk it would keep getting me stuck on the google logo. I've tried this several times because I could still go to bootloader. I've flashed the stock image a couple of times and reinstalled TWRP but I just can't get it to root.
Edit: I have flashed to stock and I'm on 6.0. I haven't tried reinstalling TWRP but the bootloader is unlocked and everything else is stock.
Edit 2: I just flashed TWRP and now I'm stuck on the google logo. Wtf is this??

Could be because you are on older version of Android. Did you make sure you are on the correct bootloader? Anyways I found with stock you must complete the initial setup then you can go back and root later. I've had success with Magisk 16.0 on nougat and Oreo so don't see why it wouldn't work on marshmallow.

What is a 'correct bootloader' anyway? I am on the latest bootloader and flashed latest factory images and still bootlooping, can't even make it to recovery mode (flashed 4-cores TWRP after I flashed stock).

Ok sorry you said 6.0 in comment that's why I asked about bootloader. Also thought was just the root giving you a hard time not the dreaded bootloop that some 6Ps get.

Lost root access and can't get it back via Magisk. Help!

Galaxy S8 Exynos [SM-G950FD] Android Oreo 8.0.0
Hello. it's my first time posting here. So I've had a successful attempt at flashing TWRP and Magisk into my phone. Today I accidentally plugged in my charger while it was in the process of rebooting, so it entered my device into kind of a bootloop. I solved this by going into Download Mode and pressing 'Cancel', which prompted my device to successfully reboot and work again.
The problem is that I've somehow lost my root. None of my apps can get root access, CPU-Z says no root available, and Magisk Manager said "Magisk is not installed". Idk how I got to this because yesterday all was working, I assume it's because I got a bootloop or went into Download Mode.
I tried to install the official Magisk ZIP file from the Manager, go into recovery mode, and flash it via TWRP. Unfortunately this didn't work. This is the only solution I can come up with besides reflashing Stock and having to flash Magisk again and wipe all my current data. If anyone has any suggestions please comment down below as I'm kinda stuck rn. They would be greatly appreaciated!
