Hello,
I have an issue with Qi Charging (both normal and fast). If during charging i receive any kind of notification from apps like messenger or whatsapp, charging seems to stop.
Ex: I put my phone on the charging pad 50% battery....if i receive a notification (ex messager/whatsapp) and the battery is at ~70% it will not continue to charge after having received that notification.
Any tips?

I have an S7 charger and it works very well (but you need the cable from the S7 because the cable from S8 has a bigger jack then the old one)

So...does anyone have any idea about my issue or has it been a problem in the past?
As far as i understand - QI Charging stops while screen is on !

Fast charging stops when the screen is off, due to danger to overheating. But normal charging should continue as normal

I have charging set to normal. Even on fastcharge, the pad has a fan that keeps it cool. Worst case, it stops to cool down then starts again from what i know.
ANYWAY..i have it on normal. Charging stops when i receive notifications (i receive them when the screen is off, and receiving notifications doesn't make my screen turn on, which is normal..just changes the led color).
can you reproduce this happening?
ie, can you put it on wireless charging, then send a whatsapp message to your phone, and this will happen every time?
I have got the same issue with my S8. Probably any kind of notification interrupts charging.
Are u guys that r having problems using the stock apps and launcher or a third party launcher/apps? I know I've had the same problem in the past of notifications interrupting the wireless charge while using EX-launcher and GO SMS, but when I went back to using stock launcher and messages, notifications no longer interrupted the charging.

Hello again friends!
On my phone, see sig for details, I have noticed whenever I place the phone on my QI Pad, while it does charge, The 'power source' is reported as AC, instead of Wireless. I believe this to be the cause of my problem of at night, when full charge is reached it chimes to confirm full, then drops 1%, so chimes to start again, and repeats.
I tried holding my QI Receiver (After market) to the terminals on my friends S3 I9300 and it showed up as charging Wirelessly, Can anybody tell me what in my phone tells the ROM what the power source is ?
And If they know a fix for what im experiencing. for example, if this is kernel related, any recommended kernels that support 4.3 ? c:
Thanks heaps in advance

I'm using the stock Samsung charger with a third party QI receiver module in my S4. It's correctly identified as a wireless charger when connected, but the problem with intermittent charging at night that you describe still appear. I believe this problem is inherent to the technology. However, I "solved" it by deleting the charger connection sound as well as using Tasker to completely dim the screen at night. This way I'm no longer bothered.

I can turn off the vibrate and sound nd screen on in settings, But I wanted it to identify correctly so I can use Tasker, and Daydream, only when on wireless.. :c
Im thinking it may be Rom specific.. in which case Ill ask my good old friend i've never really had direct contact with Vertigo
Does anyone else have any experience with Qi wireless charging receivers for the S4? I bought one from eBay at the end of last year (item no
151128038769), and it was fine for the first few months, but now it doesn't seem to charge the phone at all. I get a popup message when the phone is placed on the correct part of the charging mat (although this message doesn't always pop up as reliably as it used to), and the charge indicator displays in the notification bar, but if I return to the phone half an hour later it has actually lost charge.
I've tried this with two different charging pads, from two different manufacturers, and neither charges the phone, even though the phone gives the impression that it is being charged when I first place it on the mat. Charging using a cable still works fine.
I was wondering whether others had experiences of wireless charging?
Update: I just checked the charge status with the Galaxy Charging Current Lite app. When the phone is on the pad the charging current shows as 640mA (which should be enough to charge?), but the phone is actually losing 1% of its charge every few minutes.
???
are you using an adapter cover or a connector for the qi charging?, maybe they're not aligned well
also,i just checked and i get 460mA via simple usb/PC charging. and it's still charging. (really slow, but charging.)

I'm using a receiver insert. It sits on top of the battery, and has a flap which covers the charging terminals higher up the phone. I'm more than happy with 640mA as I usually charge it overnight. I just don't understand why it's losing charge instead of charging.
if it's charging with 640mA, but still your phone is discharging, then maybe your phone is draining the battery.
try to close everything, such as wifi, GPS, mobile data etc. and then check if it's still not charging.
also, you can try changing to a a different receiver, if you have one
btw, what about normal charging? does it charge normally?

Yes it seems that there's something that's draining the battery faster than the Qi pad can charge it. I've tried a reboot but it made no difference.
"Normal" charging using a USB cable is fine (and quick). I've just set up the Better Battery Stats app to see what's causing the drain while it's on the charging pad.
I don't have another charging receiver to try (only another charging pad, which exhibits the same behaviour)
Hey guys,
Been a long time xda member, been busy lately with working in phones for work so haven't had time for here much, but needed to make time for this. I have had an issue with 2 different battery packs to charge my Galaxy note 3 while the screen is off. I have already contacted both companies and neither have heard if this issue b4.
Both will charge the phone up to 1mAh. I have charged my phone in a .7 mAh charger just fine. I am currently using freeza's knox removed rom 2.25b with stock kernel from the rom.
Is fast charge the culprit? Not a huge issue for me at the moment as I use daydream with ultra low setting so it charges fine that way but as soon as I turn the screen off it stops charging.
Anyone have any ideas or run in to this issue themselves?
Donyou happen to have lockscreen security enabled? Password, pattern, etc?
If yes, try setting the lockscreen security to swipe and see if it works.
The reason I'm mentioning this is because the USB connection is turned off when the lockscreen security is enabled and the screen is off.
It doesn't affect a 2.1a charger as that's recognised as a charger, but anything below 2.0 ampere is seen as a USB connection, and not a charging connection. Hence, it doesn't work.

Actually, I already had it on swipe as I like to change the dpi and the screen looks funny at 380 with it always maximizing widgets.
I did try and turn it completely off to test that and same result, with screen off and with the batty packs it won't accept the charge and they turn off, screen on they work fine. Also works fine with a .7 mAh wall charger screen on and off.
I have same problem. I got 2 ports 1amp and 1.5amps but note 3 stops charging after 25 seconds .battery works with other devices. I am sure there is a process that stops it but how do we find it.
got another charger low amps that works, laptop gives 0.5 car usb 0.5 all work except the external battery.
Hi does anyone else have an issue while charging the phone where the display keeps turning on every 10 seconds and then turns itself off?
Bill
No. It sounds like a third party app is causing that.
To check, boot into safe mode and try again.
That happens with one of my wireless chargers. I guess when hits 100% then drops and back to 100% Not sure if your using wireless or not.
I was not on a wireless charger, on the other hand I was on my old HTC changer that I have on another room. Was not doing it from what I noticed with the Samsung charger.
*** tried a different HTC charger and it seems to have stopped turning on, wonder if that HTC charger is throwing out different power

Or maybe it's got a short in it. My car charger was doing this on and off this morning. And I can tell the wires going into the base are going bad.

Yes I have this issue! I just bought this phone a week ago. I've been using the fast charger included with it. Every time I charge with the fast charger, no matter if the phone is on or off, the display will turn on and off every 10 seconds or so like it keeps getting disconnected/reconnected from charging. I tried charging my phone with a regular phone charger and the display no longer turns on and off. What's going on?

Yes, been having this issue as well (happened before I rooted). Only happens when I use my old HTC chargers, doesn't happen with the included Samsung fast charger, or a 3rd party wireless charger. Have tried turning off fast charging in Settings, disabling the Stay Awake when charging option, and charging in Safe Mode - makes no difference. Would be great to know what causes it!
Yes I'm having same issue! Only when I use my old HTC charger! Any other one it doesn't do this! Would love to know a resolution!
Its the older chargers, like the HTC, not having sufficient current for the S7s bigger battery.
Probable solution
I had the same issue with my S7. A week after buying it the display kept lighting up randomly during charging. I switched chargers to an older Huawei and the issue went away. Last week the issue came back. I tried blocking apps but it did not work. What worked for me was clearing the USB cache. Settings > Apps > Show system apps > Enabled > Search for USBsettings > Storage > Clear data and cache. PS - This also works if the phone wont charge due to moisture detection.
I had the same issue with my Samsung S7 Edge while charging using one of my dual monitor's USB Port. I just switched to another USB Port and it stopped doing it.
Weshp, thanks for your very specific answer. It seemed like it was working (my phone stayed off for a longer pause), but after about a minute, it started coming on and off again and when I check, there's data in the USBsettings again. If you have any other ideas, I'd love to know.
My Galaxy S7 has been doing this on and off for a long time. I suspect the cause is overheating because the battery is charging too fast. The lower power chargers won't charge as fast so they won't heat up the battery. If I'm wrong, I'd sure like to know how to fix it.
I can't find the path to clearing the cache so I haven't tried that.
Hey guys, I have a galaxy s7 on Verizon that was working fine with no issues until about a week ago. I use a Samsung wireless fast charging pad by my bed for charging overnight. The last week I have an issue where I set the phone on the pad, the phone says wireless fast charging connected, the pad lights up blue and charging begins like normal. The issue is when I wake up in morning the pad is lit up green as if it reached 100% charge, but the phone isn't charging and the battery has been between 40-90% depending on where it was when I went to bed. Wireless fast charging is enabled in settings, I have rebooted the phone, not sure what is going on. I don't think anything changed, I can't remember an event where this started, just one morning it wasn't full any more and has been doing it every night now

Try turning off the wireless fast charging. Go into settings>battery and turn off "Wireless Fast Charging." You won't need this anyway due to the fact that you're charging overnight. Obviously you'll charge slower, but the charging will be more stable. I had the same problem a while back.

I have had this problem randomly using a regular "slow" wireless charger, too, so it isn't that. I also had it happen on my S6 a few times, too. I've had it on a Samsung wireless charger and a "Verizon" wireless charger as well.
I read on another site where someone said reset all app preferences/permissions, that seems to have fixed it, not sure why and it sucks approving everything again, but at least my phone is charged in the morning and I don't have to wake up and check it 30 times a night
Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
Mine doesn't do it consistently and neither did my s6, just sometimes it isn't changed all the way to 100 when I wake up.
