G Tab 4 messed up host cannot connect to Play Store - Galaxy Tab 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys
Well the problem is the next one hope u can give me some solutions, because I've tried everything I'm at the border of install a new ROM
Well I have a tablet which was messed up from the usage of hack apps with root usage like the freedom, kingroot, etc... and it stops connecting to the PlayStore
First: It was showing the label "No connection retry" over and over again without the capacity to connect to the PlayStore by any means, Youtube app was affected too
-After a factory reset by the Android software and from the bootloader (holding the keys) restart the Tablet and Youtube was working now, but Playstore remains with the same label
Second: Now we figured out that some rooted app was the one who causes all the trouble but it was gone with the FR, then I figured out that the problem was with the "HOSTS" file, then to use ES File Explorer along with Kingroot to grant it root access to modify the Host, I did it and restart and everything....and now it shows another label: "Error retrieving information from server. RH-01" And still remains with that label.
I tried many lines of code for the Host file:
127.0.0.1 localhost <<--- Alone
And
127.0.0.1 localhost
#127.47.231.138 android.clients.Google.com mtalk.google.com <------with this variant too
None worked, i even use ADAWAY with root permission and didn't work too.
Already did the Non-root methods of deleting the data of all GPlay services the app itself and the framework without success too.
I've already wipe out the user data and done many factory resets without any success too
I really don't know what the hell is blocking the access to the Playstore and dunno what to do now, so every another solution will be very appreciated.
Greetings and thanks in advance!

Dude flash your stock ROM using Odin. Find these files either the Galaxy Tab 4 General or Development or Original Development. Flash the correct one for your model, its OK to flash the different region ROM but do a factory reset. Reply here if it helps

I tough about flashing it, but there's one inconvenience it seems like this Tablet had Android 4.4 and just find 4.4 stock versions to flash it, but mine has 5.1 installed already and in the device model it's shown as Nexus 5 device dunno why
So in order to flash it, I'll end doing a downgrade from 5.1 to 4.4 dunno if this can be dangerous

[Q] Lock Screen Issue, Remove Safe Strap, and Mobile Hotspot

Hi,
About two days ago I posted a forum topic about upgrading a relative's AT&T S4 here in Canada (Rogers Wireless). After a while, I was finally able to upgrade the bloody phone to 4.4 from 4.3 by following these two threads: I337UCUFNB1_100%_Stock_Rooted_ROM & I337_MK2toNB1_KeepRoot_OTA.zip and
I337_NB1toNC1_KeepRoot_OTA.zip & I337UCUFNC1_100%_Stock_Rooted_ROM(4/24/2014)
However I now have a problem with the Lock Screen Options, Removing Safestrap, and the Mobile Hotspot. First, when I go to set a PIN for the lockscreen, I only have the two options Swipe and PIN (which doesn't work at all but is an available option) while the rest have this message under them "disabled by administrator encryption policy, or credential storage". I've tried googling a fix but none of the fixes seem to work. It is said in the first thread posted above, that the MK2 bootloader users will experience a lockscreen settings issue but I can't apply the other bootloader provided that resolves the issue as it is stated that it may cause a hardbrick to the phone since I'm on the NC1 bootloader. I'm not sure what can fix the lock screen problem.
My second problem is removing Safestrap. Stated in the second thread above, there is a known issue that Safestrap will force close after updating to NC1, but Safestrap will continue to function normally after. I tried the method of manually uninstalling it by using ES File Explorer and tried deleting the safestrap folder under system/etc/ and the e2fsck file under system/bin/e2fsck, but I get an error that those files/folders can't be deleted even though I gave ES File Explorer root permission.
My third and final problem is the Mobile Hotspot that comes with the phone from AT&T. I tried to run the mobile hotspot today, but I get a message saying that Mobile data not available or Invalid SIM. I'm assuming since this is an AT&T Phone and AT&T is using their own software to override the System Default Hotspot Tether program, It doesn't let you run it without having a AT&T SIM. Is there someway to restore the System Default one that Samsung ships with it's phones and remove or disable the AT&T one?
Thanks.
Bump?

The manual method of removing ss is only for older versions, but good try. (I tried the same thing, myself)
Given the lockscreen and safestrap issues, rather than try and troubleshoot, I recommend starting fresh. It will be easier than troubleshooting. I'm not sure what method you used in the first place, but I've never seen safestrap fc after initial install. Try these steps and see if you have better luck... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=51130818
***Note - The settings for safestrap are stored in the TWRP folder on your extsdcard. To get get the clean install, you will want to delete that folder before odin back to stock. (If you have any backups stored in there, you'll want to copy them out first.)
As for the hotspot issue, I am not in your situation (ATT phone on another carrier), so I cannot verify if these will work, but they sound good...
1. Do nothing. Maybe Odin back to stock fixed issue
2. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=53509265#post53509265
3. Following your own advice of moving off ATT software, flash one of the roms in post 2 here that are i9505 based (or Maple Leaf, the Canadian based ROM)... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=53758259

Jiayu S3 PIN Locked by Kinguser app

First of all, I may be posting this in the wrong section. But I desperately need your help on this.
I got a Jiayu S3, and couldn't not try to flash a custom rom on it, so I tried with "Pure AOSP V1 TF".
All went well, untill i found this app which was included with the rom, "Kinguser" (should be Superuser, i believe), which game me the option to toggle root.
At first and only time I opened this Kinguser app, option root was active. I did deactivate it, and reactivated immediately after.
As soon as i reactivated root, the privacy pin screen showed up.
I didn't set any PIN on my phone, so at first i thought it could be something like 1111 or 0000. Tried 5 times and it made me wait 30 seconds. Then tried another 3-4 times.
Here began the real mess: "forgot pin" (or psw) didn't show up, but at the time i didn't even know about that recovery option.
I didn't know what to do, so I just thought that a factory reset would certainly solve the problem, how couldn't it? Well, wiped everything, but PIN lock screen didn't go away.
So, wiping everything, I also deleted my gmail account from the phone, and I lost the possibility to lock phone and give it a new password (Android Device Manager). Too bad at the time I didn't know about this recovery option as well...
Now I'm out of ideas. I think I've tried every method I could find with a search of "Smartphone PIN locked". Tried with resets, plugins, deleting files with adb..
How do I unlock my phone?
little update: after a factory reset, for 2-3 seconds, it shows the default initial screen, but it doesn't last more that and i just can't do anything.
Now i managed to bring back the stock rom, but with that i lost the twrp recovery, and i can't find a way to make pc recognize the phone to reflash it.
It seems it's going worse instead of better...
I had just bought this Jiayu S3 and planned to bring it on holidays on wednesday, but i'm starting to think i won't be able to fix it before then
Did you have any resolution to this problem. I am currently sitting in the exact same boat. Did the factory reset, pass code screen still there, I didn't set a pass code. Basically hands tied, can't update firmware, guessing i'll have to get a new phone, but hoping maybe you found a miracle cure! ha! - Thanks for any guidance. - Arden (Seattle, WA)
Just flash another rom (stock/original) and start over.
How have you done that?
Can you help please?
I tried factory reset (volume plus+ power button), hard reset (volume- plus power button), update, and nothing works; I also went to two different specialized stores and they failed to find a way to reinstall the original Android version or a recent one.
Comparing the files with the factory version installed in the phone, the phone report identified three changes:
- a new file: /system/priv-app/7mK0T6e8Z5.apk
- the lost of a file: /system/app/com.android.fallen.apk
- and a modified file: /system/bin/debuggerd

To flash firmware you can use SP Flash Tool on a windows or linux computer (not sure about macosx). You have to decide which firmware you want (which one do you have now?). The 'official' firmwares can be found on needrom. SP Flash Tool can be found there as well. There are 2 popular LP firmwares built by Jiayu resellers in Europe (Xtreme from Spain and Jiayu.de from Germany). Guides on how to flash are often present at the place where you find the firmware.

I found the "SP Flash Tool":

but it is for Linux... can you send me the link of the windows version?
And I could not found the "Jiayu.de from Germany": can you send the link?
Also, can you recommend some good manual for dummies?
Thanks again for your patient and help!
latest sp flash tools is 5.1532
search needrom with "5.1532" will leed you to the download page
no link allowed here, so ...
for beta 10 from jiyau.de, search google with "jiyau.de Lollipop 5.1.1 - Beta 10 (14.10.2015)".
it will leeds you to the rom.
Good hunting

I would like to add: if you come from KK and go to LP, you must use firmware upgrade to update/adjust internal SD partition layout. Good Luck! if you succeed, and are happy with firmware, consider voting @ http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/firmware-jiayu-s3-t3212184 (almost 100 votes)
First, thank you for your great help!
With your suggestions, I managed to install Lolipop in my Jiayu S3S (upgraded from Kit Kat) - Xtreme ROM TF (JiayuS3-5.1Extreme1.1SP.zip).
However the problem remain... the phone still is asking for a PIN (that I never had put there, in first place)...
What should I do now?
you could try factory reset and are you sure its the phone asking for pin and not the sim card

Zenfone 5 LTE (T00P) Erroneous Behaviour

Hey guys,
Long time user of XDA here, but first time poster in this forum. I would like to request help for my mother's Asus Zenfone 5 LTE (model number T00P), which has recently began to function in a way to makes it unsuitable as a daily driver. The phone is slightly over 2 years old, running stock 4.4.2, build number KOT49H.WW_Phone-11.4.6.94-20141218044000274_201406050026. I am unsure about the circumstances in which the following behaviour started.
Half the time when it boots, it immediately shows a lot of core apps FC-ing, like com.android.phone and com.android.systemui, along with another one buried, which is the KeyGuardTestActivity FC. Other times, it boots normally, but some apps do not work properly: the Phone app fails to launch as Contacts FC, Settings FC when trying to access the All tab under Applications, the file manager FC. With SIM card inserted, mobile connectivity is also a hit and miss. Holding the power button causes the phone to do a soft reboot, rather than bring up the power menu. I cannot gain ADB authorisation as SystemUI also FCs when trying to come up with the RSA authorisation message. Much of these issues render the phone pretty much unusable.
Up till this point, the phone has remained unrooted and untouched, XDA-wise, and can boot in recovery and CSC modes. However, there was a system update that was found in the stock updater, but could not be installed due to Status 7 (framework-res.apk has unexpected contents). After that failed update, there was no change to the phone, and the updater no longer works.
I have since rooted the phone with Kingroot, but freezing the keyguard produces more issues. I am at a loss at this juncture, as I am trying my best to save the phone short of a data wipe. I am very sure a data wipe would solve the issues, but many backup apps simply FC, as I would also like to backup data to shift to a new phone.
Are there any ways to help? Thanks in advance for any answers.
Never heard an XDA member let their devices remaining stock after 2 years. The best choice for you is flash another rom, Stable android 5.1 to 7.1
No need to root to unlock bootloader and flash TWRP. More details you can research around here.
If you don't want loss data, use adb command to copy it to your lap or pc. Or here: http://www.droidviews.com/push-pull-files-android-using-adb-commands/

I don't think there are custom rom available for zenfone 5 LTE model .So that gives no choice but to stay on stock rom.

Yes, but there is no custom rom for zenfone 5 lte. maybe neither custom recovery or root.
Sorry i didn't read your post carefully. Did you try to unlock bootloader ? I think it will be the same as the Intel model. Try fastboot and then fastboot OEM unlock, or flash some ifwi file like Intel model.
Then if bootloader is unlocked, flash TWRP and u will have ADB.

No wifi on stock ROM and MAC address reads 02:00:00:00:00:00

My G4's been working fine since i had but about a week ago i noticed it wasn't connecting to any wifi networks. It was searching but couldn't find any.
I did a hard reset and now can't get past the android set up page, as soon as it starts searching for a wifi network it locks up and then reboots after about 10 seconds.
The MAC address is listed as 02:00:00:00:00:00
I've reflashed the Stock ROM that was already on it but it's made no difference, any ideas???
Have you got root?
No never been rooted
You could try rooting your phone and changing manually the MAC with some app.
Can't get past the android setup so I can't install any apps!
Give more detailed info about your problem
Bootloader unlocked or not
before flashing on whick rom you were?
What flashing instructions you used and what guide you followed?

The bootloader isn't unlocked.
Before flashing it was on NPJS25.93-14-13/3
I reflashed using https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/how-to/stock-rom-npjs25-93-14-4-march-1-t3608138
Just to clarify the wifi wasnt working before the flash hence the reason for reflashing
Just tried unlocking the bootloader so i can try other roms but it wont let me. Keeps telling me to tick allow oem unlock. Cant do that as i cant get past set up screen!!
are you sure you are flashing the right version for your device??? flashing wrong firmware causes the MAC id issue most of the time!

Yes definitely the right version. The MAC id problem was there before any flashing was done.
at setup screen skip the setup, if you can. I am not sure, if you can skip it or not..I don't know, what other way you can do things without unlocking the bootloader
There's no option to skip the setup unfortunately, It locks up and restarts once its trying to connect to wifi. I've tried using the mobile network but it still crashes and restarts (I'm assuming that this is because wifi is still being turned on).
I'm at a bit of a loss what to do really???
I'm not sure whats causing the issue with the wifi, flashing stock ROM hasn't helped and i'm unable to unlock the bootloader because i can't get it to boot! Any help greatly appreciated!!!
Im beginning to think that there's no way to fix this, what i can't understand is why the wifi still isn't working after reflashing stock ROM surely that should clear everything back to factory including whatevers stopping the wifi working.
Could possibly be a hardware issuei suppose ,is it possible to replace the wifi chip?

I still have the original stock rom and exactly the same problem!
The last update ****ed it over!
I will now try cache clear on stock rom before I go further
Edit - No change! Definately need a solution for this
As I have the same problem I will wait for further support so that worst case I can provide help for the other user.
Mobile Data still works tough
Phone: never rooted, after cache clear it doesnt ask for update anymore which helps
EDIT 2: Got it to work. I wsa able to get into a public wifi download the new update and all is fine.
1. Clear cache
2. public wifi or download the latest update from XDA and start manually
This should fix it!
Just to share what helped me to recover Wi-Fi and solve the MAC address 02:00:00:00:00:00:
A. Get the apk file of the Wifi Mac Changer app and install it in your phone without Wi-Fi.
B. Open it and grant root access. You'll see that your "Real" MAC address will be 02:00:00:00:00:00.
C. Then you have your "Fake" Mac Address. Copy it into the line "New Mac" and press "Hard change" button. You don't need even to reboot to restore your Wi-Fi.
D. For me, it worked at the first time, I can also uninstall the app later. Later dirty flashes of ROMs got Wi-Fi without issues.
Hope it helps.

[HELP] Samsung SM-G950F system & Os recovery ?

Hello,
Here is my problem.
2 days ago, I wanted to root my phone to get rid of any Google stuff (at this point I didn't know the existence of ADB commands :crying: ).
I followed a step by step youtube tutorial (youtube.com/watch?v=ZD-5twDm6XI), which works with TWRP, magisk and Odin (factory reset is needed).
Once everything is finished, my phone is finally rooted, and I grant superuser rights to Titanium app to uninstall google, and only SOME apps uninstalled totally (maps, chrome, facebook) BUT google play services won't uninstall. So, I try with System App Removal to uninstall google play stuff, and the same happens.
I reboot my phone, and it seems that everything disappeared... Not so sure... Indeed, the play store reinstall all applications as soon as I connect to the WiFi! and I have a persistent message "google play services stopped" that prevents me from browsing for example.
At this point, I use ADB commands, to remove anything which contains "com.blahblah.google.blahblah" and the play store (com.android.vending) with -k command. And it worked totally fine !!!!! I disconnect my phone, ready to backup my data. Idkw, i wanted to uninstall system app removal. IMPOSSIBLE from the phone, which says : "samsung One UI stopped" (I was in safe boot mode). My phone doesn't answer, so I reboot it.
Once it has booted, the TWRP menu screen appears. Ok, isn't that weird ? I swipe to allow changes, then I go to system to boot "normally" my phone.
A warning says : NO OS INSTALLED !!!! I don't understand, I panic, but finally boots my phone. Black charging screen. Forever.
I started first to flash an "official" Samsung ROM from Sammobile. TWRP indicates it is an invalid .zip, adb too. Odin doesn't manage to boot from the ROM too. I take a deep breathe and cry. Then I download the /e/ ROM which works fine !! but it has become impossible to backup my data from my samsung account....
So, I came to ask you a few things. WHY did it happen ? How can I be sure that there is no trace of TWRP anymore ? However, my phone storage is 64 GB and there is only 53,5 Gb free of internal storage !? Do you think the original firmware could be "hidden" in my files (e ROM is about 800Mos compressed) ?
It is stupid, but after my mistakes, I miss google...
I will do my best to reply asap.
Thank you for your help !
PS: -I'm a newbie in informatic, don't make things too complicated
-sorry for bad English, not my mother language
Google writes and distributes android.
There are many things in android that you cannot remove and still have a viable system.
imho you will have to flash a rom but we need your phones information (found in settings/system/about phone) model, version baseband, etc. etc
Others more knowledgeable can step in and help.

Google writes and distributes android.
There are many things in android that you cannot remove and still have a viable system.
imho you will have to flash a rom but we need your phones information (found in settings/system/about phone) model, version baseband, etc. etc
Others more knowledgeable can step in and help.

Thank you for your reply ! I've read your article about FRP but I'm afraid it's not my problem...
Here are some of my phone specifications :
model : SM-G950F
version baseband : G950FXXS8DTC1
OS : /e/ version 0.9-p-dev-dreamlte (LineageOS API : Ilama 9)
Android 9
I've been digging the web for ROMs but each time I feel unsecure about it (virus, etc...) so I hope maybe you have something trustworthy

Hello,
Here is my problem.

I've been browsing through my root files and folders ( / ) ...
So :
/system is occupied with 2.33 GB
/vendor with 577 MB
/mnt with 9.01 GB
/proc with ... 236.9GB but every under-folder is empty... (explanations welcome !)
/storage is empty
If anyone could check on his device (S8 Exynos with android 9.0 Pie and One UI) if the files' sizes approximately matched, it would be great !
The one I just received is G950FXXS8DTC6 / G950FOXM8DTC1 / G950FXXS8DTC1 (after it took the Apr 1 update) so probably identical - a Yateley GU46 6GG UK phone. I am running it on ATT Prepaid(US) , which gave me the Apr 1 update. I don't know its history but it hasn't been modified - knox=0.
What you would need to do is get that zip and flash it with odin, but having no experience flashing the S8 myself, or any idea where to get that zip, I can be of no help to you. (I just came off a moto x4 which I ruined by flashing a couple custom rom's to try to help others on that forum - the blessings of Pie on that device!)(plus, taking the Apr 1 update on that phone requires a factory reset/wipe.) I needed a dependable phone here and in Europe on vacation.
Keep posting and ask someone to help you re-flash it.
EDIT: I wonder what a settings/general management/factory reset would do. But don't do one until someone here much more experienced with the S8 suggests it.
EDIT: WARNING WARNING WARNING -> Before flashing, ACTIVATE PIN in "Secure startup" (You'll be asked for it AFTER flashing!)
lockscreen and security / secure startup / require pin
I also see a note to delete your google account before doing this. Don't know if necessary.
EDIT: I believe I have found the rom - see pic This is from the SamFirm exe. 0.3.7 I put VOD for the region.
Remember: don't do anything with this until someone experienced in S8 tells you to!
Hi KrisM22,
I've already flashed with Odin, and I have talked about this on different forums, seen tutos on websites,... I hope this time it will work
I have the ROM required, selected activate pin, followed step by step the recommendations, and if I figured it out I will keep you up to date !

I flashed a ROM from https://www.imei.info/download-firmware/samsung/samsung-g950f-galaxy-s8/SM-G950F/ , then I just followed the steps and flashed with Odin. TWRP has disappeared (the classic recovery menu came back). I think I have found my issue with the "no OS installed" bug : it could be because I deleted the essential API com.google.android.packageinstaller, what may have prevented the phone from booting and launching the OS and its apps .
I should have read this excellent post before...
*I ran antivirus analysis with virustotal and Bitdefender, which both declared the extracted files were safe : I didn't notice anything different by my phone compared to the original OS too, so...
