S4 - SCH-I545 Verizon - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
i am trying to install a cooked rom or Cynagenom/Lineage on this US mobile that my friend brought me here in Europe.
Can you help me out ?
Is there a Rom I can use?
Details of the phone:
model sch - i545
product jftltevzw
board msm8960
bootloader i545vrufnc5
brand verizon
sdk version 4.4.2
id : koth49h
root : yes
thank you

Hopefully your friend didn't upgrade the bootloader. Verizon locks bootloaders.

why did you delete the part of bootloader?
is there any possibilities i installed a modded , lineage for example?

The device was rooted, which means the bootloader must either have been unlocked or bypassed. The comment about the bootloader was irrelevant because of this, thus crossed out.
Anything related to your device can be found at the link I gave you upthread.

[Q] Sim-unlock, root and Knox GT-I9500

Hi, i have some questions about my I9500, currently running stock Android 4.2.2 with the possibility of upgrading it to 4.3 via OTA. No Root.
1) I would like to sim unlock it, so i read lots of threads and i am really confused right now. If I try the method in this thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2282683 i get the following error, 'MENU NOT EXIST Current Command is 111'. I think that thats because i have an upgraded version of the modem so what should i do?
2)I am planning to root my phone but i would like to upgrade my phone to 4.3, so what about Knox and root counters and all that stuff? Every thread about this is related to the I9505 variant.
I am really a noob
Thank you!!
Anyone???
Any Luck
I have the same problem Gt-9500 region locked and UMTS Limited so apparently service model unlock method doesn't work for me, the phone is korea manufactured bought in Colombia, any luck with rooting the phone and using the region unlock apk?? Help needed desperately
Having the same problem with I9500 from Argentina. I was able to root, install TWRP, remove Knox, but not sim unlock.
Probably using a custom rom will unlock the sim. I've done this in the past with Movistar Samsung Tab2 GT-5100 and GT-3100. But for my s4 I prefer keeping default rom (for the moment).

[Q] I can't unlock my S4 AT&T (MK2).

I used this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2621279) for update my S4. And now i can't unlockt my S4. Can you give a hand?
I searched for it but did found. It's my third day without my cell.
I can: Root and install Safestrap, with it i dont have problem.
I try, but did not work: - Codes like *#27663368378#, *#0011#, *#197328640#*.
- RegionLockAway
- Change de modem to MF3,MDL.
Model: SGH-I337 (AT&T)
Android Version: 4.3
Baseband version: MK2
I buy this S4 in EUA and now i need use in Brazil. :/
I have an AT&T S4 with MDL baseband that I bought a year ago.
I rooted the phone after I received it.
After the root I tried free sim unlock methods that posted on the net and none of them work for me.
Finally I bought the code (I think it cost around $30 and I had to provide the IMEI number of my phone).
It may or may not answer your question but I just want you to know what did work for me.

[Q] How To: Root Verizon s4 SCH-i545 version 5.0.1

I have searched and tried but i cant find any info on my specific phone . I have rooted other phones and this one seems to be the most difficult! Any help would be highly appreciated... heres my info.

KERNEL VERSION 3.4.0
BUILD # LRX22C.I545VRUGOC1
SECURITY SOFTWARE VERSION MDF V1.0 RELEASE 4 VPN V1.4 RELEASE 4
thank you
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-verizon is where you want to go. This is the international S4 forum.
In short, your difficulties in rooting come from Verizon locking the bootloader.
WIsh i had found this thread yesterday since i have spent all day trying to figure out how the root this phone.... now i know why i cant.
bootloader locked
After reading your reply, I understand that there is no workaround for unlocking the bootloader. I was under the impression that this kernal SCH-I545_MD2_423399_Kernel.tar.md5 was for that. Of course it didn't work using Odin_v3.07.zip it kept failing.
The kernel and the bootloader are two different things. The bootloader is low-level firmware designed specifically to prepare the device to run the kernel. The kernel is the heart of Android. It provides the interface for the rest of Android to communicate with the hardware.
In devices not sold by AT&T or Verizon, the bootloader usually only checks to see if a kernel is present. If a kernel is present the bootloader hands off control to the kernel, which starts the operating system. In the case of AT&T and Verizon, and I am only speculating here because I have neither AT&T nor Verizon devices, the bootloader checks the kernel to ensure the kernel is not only AT&T or Verizon-approved, but the same age or newer than the bootloader, before allowing the system to boot. To prevent people from replacing this bootloader, AT&T and Verizon encrypt it so the bootloader's code cannot be manipulated to bypass the checks.
With an encrypted bootloader, rooting and custom ROMs are virtually impossible. Your attempt to install the kernel failed because the kernel was older than the bootloader. This is why, if you live in the US, you do NOT purchase a phone from AT&T or Verizon and instead, you do one of the following.
Purchase a device from T-Mobile, either outright or through installment plan. T-Mobile does not lock its bootloaders. You could also purchase a device from Sprint, but their service is the worst of the four major US carriers.
Purchase a device directly from Google (i.e. Nexus) or from device manufacturers like Motorola.
Purchase an international device and have it imported, keeping in mind that LTE may not function due to frequency differences.

Hi this week I got a Note3 as a gift but I can't figure if its a verzion or not because the back of device its Samsung SM-N900 although the about device menu show its N900V
also when I go to download mode its say it N900P.
also when I checked the Imei on IMEI.info the website show its n9005
I need help please cuz I'm so confused if it original or not
and I can't know how to update it. the device run android 4.4.2 and I hope to update it for 4.4.4 or 5 .
If the phone is rooted then all of the information under "about phone" can be modified by editing the build.prop file. If there is still a sticker under the battery you can check there for the model number. If you boot into recovery then it shows the current build at the top. If the build starts with N900V then the OS is Verizon.
thank you for answer ... the sticker show its N900
but the download mode show its N900P
I test the device hardware by mobile info app and antutu benchmark
the resualt was my device have snapdragon MSM8974 (32bit) with adreno330 GPU
and hardware revision N900P.12
and score at antutu is 43K
so what is my real type of device and which stock 4.4.4 rom I can use
thank you for any help and excuse my bad english
N900P is Sprint

The phone can't be sprint if it has a SIM. No one is going to be able to offer any help without physically checking the phone. It sounds like it has been modified which means it's rooted. If you update to 4.4.4 or 5.0 then you'll loose root and any modifications. You should probably leave it as it is.

I'm just confused please someone help me

I have Samsung Galaxy s4
Model is i9500
But when I go to download mode, I see modem number to sch-i545, which is from Verizon. I want to root my phone and also want to download stock rom or flash custom rom but I don't know which rom to download because I'm confused of which model is correct. My phone has 4G LTE and CDMA. I know i9500 does not support 4G LTE but the model number is i9500 and baseband I9500UBUHOE1. Hope someone cam help me out. Thank you
The correct model # can be found in download mode; therefore, your phone is a Verizon phone with a locked bootloader.

How can I unlock?
Can't be unlocked as far as I know.
Here's a thread about unlocking: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2500826
I want to root and install custom rom, you have thread for that?
You may be able to root but no custom Roms based on cm or aosp.
More information about your device is at http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-verizon . In short, unless your device has an early bootloader that would allow modification, there is no way to unlock the bootloader, no way to install a custom ROM, and no way to even root the device.
Return this device and get something else.
could this phone have a locked bootloader AND still have other firmware trying to disguise it at the same time ?
No. It's likely his bootloader is unlocked, but he needs to head to the Verizon S4 forums to be sure. But when it comes to frankenphones, my instant response is to return the phone if possible. Frankenphones are a PITA to deal with.

agreed on that, if nothing else it's deception by the vendor/seller
