Hey i have s7 edge nougat 7.0 no rooted .. the light sensor is very annoying .. when i place the finger on it rhe brightness seems ti change auto ( yes i have disable the auto ) . Is there any way to disable that annoy sensor without root? With an app or something like that?
If auto is tuned off, then it must be samsung's over-the-limit brightness when exposed to sun and other very bright areas. I think that if U disable the sensor, then U won't be able to punch the brightness up that much. BUT, maybe there is an app for that too

Wait... Were u at a bright or sunny area at that time, or? Because it isn't normal for manual setting to change the brightness everywhere.

Hi all,
I was wondering if there was a way to force the keyboard keys to stay lit up until you close it. It seems to be cutting out mid type.
Thanks.
It turns off when you it's bright enough in the surrounding area. You can flash cyanogenmod and set all the brightness settings.
Thanks,
I guess I was hoping to be able to control this manually without having to flash a different rom.
At this time its not possible to control it manually from stock froyo. Maybe in gingerbread?

do you have it set to automatic brightness? I noticed my keyboard turning on and off while typing and the screen dimmed and brightened with it. Turned off the auto brightness and hasn't done it since.

Turning off the auto brightness hasn't made any difference to me on my DZ. The backlight for the keyboard and capacative buttons seems to turn off and on quite often for no apparent reason (badly calibrated light sensor ?).
has anyone tried covering up the light sensor with a sticker or something? lol idk

That would certainly work, you can put your finger over it and show how it's the light sensor doing it. Probably not the best long term solution though
It really annoys me , is there anyone that have a real solution ? I tried every widget on earth to configure it to disable the "auto" and the brightness keeps playin up and down that is really getting on my nerves I sometimes want to throw it throught the window
I want the brightness to be fix from a level I choose, is that too much to ask ? instead of that the screen brightness keeps playing once up the other time shaking
please someone give me a true solution if there is one
Extended Controls??? Works fine for me
You may also try OneClick Widget.
Does anyone else find this autobrightness makes your screen flicker quite badly? Happens at low brightness kind of where it cant settle this does my nut in

Dont think mine has auto brightness, no tick box in the settings just a slider, and it stays where it tell it to, currently on 30% and it sticks

Nope the only thing I have noticed about the screen is that the sensors at the back of the screen are quite noticeable in sunlight on the Arc.

Yes.. when the brightness is set to abt 50% and when the screen is displaying mostly white (Facebook etc). Currently, i managed to reduce the flicker by setting the brightness to abt 70%. Kinda annoying.
Hopefully SE will fix this in the next update or let us just disable autobrightness.
Hi i dont know if someone notice it that the screen brightness is brighter on auto, meaning that in direct sunlight if i turn my screen brightness to max and then set auto the screen go's way more bright on auto.
manual controle set to max is like (75%) compared to auto-adjust at its brightest.
Can this be fixed?

What rom / firmware are you on? I don't think it's a bug, I think it's supposed to be like that.

Ok. Like I said I think it's supposed to be like that.:good:
Yeah that's a feature, not a bug. Meant to protect battery drainage..If you like to manually set brightness, know that in situations of direct sunlight setting the brightness to auto will allow the maximum brightness to be achieved since its using the lux sensor to determine necessary brightness level

When I'm in a light room the screen goes brighter but if I walk into a darker room, the screen doesn't dim unless I lock and then unlock the screen.
Anyone else having similar issues?
Yep got the same here. Thought I had a faulty ambient light sensor but obviously not.

Just tried it by covering the light sensor to make sure, no problem here (G935F). My only concern related to brightness is that the s7 just has auto brightness, but no adaptive brightness.
Uncheck the auto box and recheck. Then don't touch the slider. It's usually because in marshmallow the slider moves with the auto bright and most people touch it which makes it hold position.

There seems to be a bug somewhere still. I just tried to move the slider while auto brightness is ticked and to cover the light sensor afterwards again and it still worked and to my surprise it even took into account that I lowered the brightness and took also a lower brightness at the covered state and took my initial setting after uncovering, pretty nice, so there is indeed still adaptive brightness. After ticking und unticking auto it went back taking the default steps for brightness as before.
Having the same issue here
Definately not touched the slider.
Also, I have tested the light sensor and it appears to work fine so definately a software issue. Though I imagine we will see some software updates to fix bugs shortly after the official release date.
So you can adjust the slider with the box checked and get various levels of auto? Does it learn?

Yes.
I can't tell for sure, when I change further steps the previous seems to stick, at least to some extend so there is a logic behind it, but I can't tell for sure if it really is based on each step and sets it accordingly or if it's just changes the range it operates in. Anyways I'm a happy camper.
Also, I could reproduce the device not changing the brightness, when I put it to full at darkness it won't move anymore in auto. But as soon as I lower it again it will also change accordingly again, maybe at those with the stuck brightness the min brightness is only raised, but not lowered anymore, but just an assumption and doesn't help anyone atm unfortunately.

This is the first Galaxy phone I had, that Auto brightness actually works the way I like it.
It seems to be working fine now. It just takes a few seconds for the screen to dim (maybe I was being impatient).
After testing it further it's actually really good auto brightness.
It works, just takes some time to adjust to the lighting. Maybe the default settings are set to a certain time. Maybe with root we can adjust this..

It seems to only do it quickly when the device is lay down (as 954wrecker said). Maybe Samsung did that so it doesn't annoy you when using your phone.
this is definitely a bug imo... the auto brightness doesn't change for me either...

I also have an auto briteness issue, when I disable AutoBrite and set it manually about half my apps override the setting and enable AutoBriteness in the app's screen usually dimming the screen? SpadesFree one example and I do not see an override in the app.
Confimed that I'm having same issue, auto brightness not adjusting and slider not movingoing. Have to move it manually
Same issue. It needs to be fixed manually by editing services.jar (root needed)
Nothing else will work. None of google play apps will help with that issue. Does not matter what you do, it will always dimming if you don't fix it in framework.jar

so whenever i restart the phone or set the phone's brightness to manual and turn the auto brightness on,the auto brightness slider wont work...i have to shoot some light on the sensors and then the slider works again and brightness gets adjusted accordingly...anyone else experienced this bug?or is it just for me and should i replace the phone?

Everything is fine here man after update.
Brightness slider works fine after update .
it won't work for me too, not even in Good lighting condition, should i replace it? it was working fine till yesterday.
Yea same problem for me.
Same thing happening to my "max pro m1"
whenever the "Auto brightness" is on the brightness slider doesnt work/respond at all.
I tried almost every thing..........
1) Installed latest Update "15.2016.1805.318" of 66.76 MB
2) Restart Multiple times
3) HARD RESET the phone
Still not working
Is it a because faulty/bad light sensor
OR
will it be fixed by some software updates in coming future...
