Hi. Looks like I fkced my phone. Was using Darkobas twrp, flashed this room and it boot-looped at the beginning (phone was turning on and off on the "Coolpad" screen). I can enter the recovery however can't transfer roms into the card. While pushing big files with ADB push (it takes few minutes) it randomly stops responding/hangs in the middle of a transfer. Tried multiple times and it stops randomly ( I've wiped/formatted whole storage )
I managed to flash another recovery 3.1.0.0 but still I need to push some rom to see if I can flash it. After PC reboot it stopped detecting my phone...
Fastboot is not working, power + vol down goes to black screen / turning off the phone.
Tool_all_in_one does not detect my phone. In fact I do not see it in Windows Device Manager. Tried different usb 3/2 ports
Commands in console like fastboot oem device info gives:
< waiting for any device >
adb reboot bootloader gives:
adb server version (39) doesn't match this client (36); killing...
* daemon started successfully *
error: no devices/emulators found
It's done guys?
Update: somehow managed to restore connection, so phone is visible in Device Manager as "Android Composite ADB Interface" .
Managed to push AICP ROM with adb but can't see it on sdcard. Usually, it was in the main directory, now nothing is there.
Adb sideload? It still seems to me like youre having connection issues w/the pc. Tried rebooting to fastboot from twrp menu?
1 - Enter Twrp Recovery
2 - Wipe -> Format Data then type "yes". This command gonna wipe your internal storage behold.
3 - After this reboot recovery and go to mount then enable mtp.
4 - Transfer rom file. And after a clean wipe flash it.
That rom have bootloader and some modem file that can bring up some issue mate. And those files belongs to Changer not to our beast.
Both device very very familiar but its different product anyway you can't trust it.
I RECOMMEND ALL OF PEOPLE GONNA FLASH ROM please first check the firmware files .If there, then clean it and wipe from the updater-script.
For an alternative you can flash your stock firmware files from QFİL but it's risky too.
Thanks for the replies. MTP was enabled all the time in the recovery. I have unmounted all partitions, repaired, formatted etc. After multiple tries, I managed to push and flash AICP rom. Good it's only ~500Mb. Transfer of bigger files was interrupted every time.
By the way this JUI ROM has replaced the starting screen. Phone is quietly squeaking for few seconds (in fastboot all the time) after every reboot on 'CoolPad' screen, similar to this 42sec 12000Hz. Any way to back to 'original' LP3 one?

Make sure you are not using a USB hub, or extension cable. Also make sure you are plugged directly into the PC motherboard, not one of the front ports. I had transfers stalling and it was my USB extension cable.

Sure, you need to flash the firmware files, download 23s from the official site, and fastboot flash all the files, that'll return you to stock fastboot, splash, etc.
Follow this guide (no need to format data, and flash system again, just the files in firmware update folder).

Can't flash anything using fastboot - "fastboot flash xxx.img" gives me: < waiting for any device > and nothing happens.
At the moment trying to flash stock 23s but it's hanging on "Patching system image unconditionally" for 5+ minutes already.
This JUI fcked bootloader in my phone somehow. It's blocked/can't be replaced or no idea what's going on here.
Edit: so ye after 20+ minutes of "Patching system image unconditionally" looks like I'm unable to flash stock 23s using TWRP 3.1.0.0.
Probably it wants to replace this fkn JUI bootloader and freeze there.
Wait, are you trying to flash complete official update.zip via twrp?? You cant do that. Find a 23s package customised for flashing via twrp, I think I used alba's package from 4pda

That is litterally what this whole topic was about? See my responses, if you still have access to twrp (dont see why wouldnt you), you can use it to flash a 23s "stock" rom through it (such a package will contain, among others, the leeco bootloader etc)

Yeah, I got rid of this JUBU bootloader after flashing stock-like rom. Also thanks to this there is no more strange noise during the boot sequence.

Thes1ev thank you so much pal, i flashed 2 different 23s with all wipes and they gave me errors but your rom installed perfectly.

I found a way to install twrp on my mi max with locked bootloader using EDL mode.
NB! This will reformat the phone so you should take a backup if you got something you want to keep on the phone.
NB! DO THIS ON YOUR OWN RISK!!!
To get into EDL mode I followed thi guide:
http://xiaomitips.com/guide/how-to-put-mi-max-into-edl-mode/
I turned off the phone and pushed vol+and- and connected the usb to the PC.
Then I installed the qualcom drivers I found here:
http://xiaomitips.com/download/qualcomm-qdloader-usb-drivers/
In device manger update the drivers that has name QHSUSB_BULK when the phone is in EDL-mode with the quallcomm-drivers
The driver should be installed and you can see added in Ports as Qualcomm HS-USB
I downloaded a fastbootimage
http://bigota.d.miui.com/6.6.23/hydrogen_images_6.6.23_20160523.0000.23_6.0_cn_5ab5ac0aba.tgz
I also downladed twrp:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-max/development/recovery-twrp-3-0-2-0-touch-recovery-t3388073
I used 7zip to unpack fastbootimage.
Inside I found the folder with images and a recovery.img file. I renamed twrp file to recovery.img and replaced the one in images.
I then used miflasher and flashed the fastbootimage using clean option.
The flasher I used: can be found here:
http://xiaomitips.com/download/new-miflash-beta-one-click-install-miui-fastboot-rom/
On flasher program the device should be recognized as COMXX when the Qualcomm drivers.
If the device id is a hexnumber and not COM10 the flashing in EDL mode will not work.
After flashing I diconnected the phone from pc and rebooted into recovery "power and vol+"
Now I had TWRP and could wipe and install ROMS etc.
I installed the ROM I found here
https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/6-6-23.32335/
This was a much better ROM than the china-rom

Its still locked, but as you got twrp it really doesn't matter
I've got a little problem. At the moment I'm in a bootloop. No access to ROM and bootloader is still locked.
Could you describe how exactly you flashed the ROM? After you replaced the recovery, did you pack in again? And whats the "clean option"? By MiSuite or by MiFlasher?
Because in my case MiFlasher does not work saying "critical partition flashing is not allowed"...bootloader locked.
Do you think I can install Cyanogenmod for Max by your method?
Thank you very much in advance!!

You use the Miflasher when telephone is in EDL-mode. I used http://xiaomitips.com/download/new-miflash-beta-one-click-install-miui-fastboot-rom/
I didn't pack the ROM again. I had to browse into the catalog with the flasher which has files like flash.all
I see no reason why a Cyanogenmod for max shouldn't work as long at you flash it with twrp
Okay I did not know about this third Tool. I will try it when I am at home in the evening. Thank you very much!!
My flashing starts and stops after 1 second saying success. But it did not change anything. My phone is detected and I've done everything you said. I don't get it working
tried this, did not work for me ;( - Max Helium 3gb/64gb
After booting to recovery from the off-button menu i just got that regular old recovery screen (a phone with a plug connecting)
same for me!

Did the flashing give you the developer version of miui?
I don't know if it has something to say. I had the oem unlock option set in developer section on settings.
Are you sure the phone stayed in EDL mode and not in Fastboot? A black screen with a little mi icon
Or that the recovery.img was really swapped with the twrp?
It worked on 2 phones I tried.

Doesn't look like it flash with EDL and qualcom drivers. Does it says device is a com port in the flasher utility?
I found this that might help. I had enabled usb debugging:
Be sure to Enable USB Debugging:-
Go to About phone > tap MIUI version at least 7 times to activate the Developer options. Go to Additional settings > Developer options > USB debugging > Enable it.
Before proceeding: Disable Driver Signature Enforcement in Windows 7/8/10 64-Bit
USB Data cable from your set.
Battery is charged at least 50%.
Could you send me the link to the correct drivers? I use Universal ADB Drivers and in ADB I can see my device as "sideload ...."
But in the XiamiFlash Tool I can not see it in EDL, only in Fastbootmode.
_____
in fastboot mode it's recognized and starts flashing, and it says success. But the ROM is not changed.
Do you really mean
-launch XiaoMiFlash (Beta)
-Then connect Max in EDL Mode (Phone with usb plug on display)
-then it should be recognized?? (because in my case it's not...)
_______
I don't have access to my ROM after an update...it's just ridiculous.

You need the qualcomm drivers
https://goo.gl/CPa5jd
To install the drivers follow this guide when connected in edl-mode:
http://en.miui.com/thread-235865-1-1.html
Follow point 5 and in point 6 use the drivers you have downloaded
There is no need to flash the entire partition set to install TWRP. It is enough to flash a single "recovery" partition using edited rawprogram0.xml, removing all partitions except "recovery" and either specifying TWRP image file name in "filename=" or renaming TWRP image file to "recovery.img".
patch0.xml must be edited too to remove all "<patch>" tags.
Additionally, flashing a modified "boot" image may be required.
I managed to flash it with the new XiaomiFlasher Beta. My phone is running fine on CM 13 now! Thank you!

I had the same problem with 64gb version.
In twrp go to wipe
Click option to delete data partition
It will tell you all data will be deleted and encryption disabled.
After data partition gets deleted twrp will report proper internal space, and ROM will also report proper internal space.
Be sure to backup everything before.

Hi I am quite new to this but I have gone through every tutorial I can find and cannot get TWRP on my Le Max 2. I start with the standard recovery screen.
I type the command ADB DEVICES and it returns a device number says ok
I put my phone into fastboot mode by pressing POWER/VOL - together and get the fastboot screen in chinese and english.
I type FASTOOT DEVICES and it returns the same device number
then FASTBOOT OEM UNLOCK - comes back already unlocked
then FASTBOOT FLASH RECOVERY X820_TWRP_3.0.2.IMG - it goes and does what it needs to says WRITING RECOVERY and says all ok no error messages on OK's
then FASTBOOT REBOOT to reboot phone. I have also tried just rebooting stright to recovery after flashing holding POWER/VOL+ and after 2-3 mins screen goeas black and the little signal LED goes BLUE I have to hold POWER buton for 15secs to reboot phone.
After that it still just boots into stock recovery screen.
Please any help. I also wonder where it is flashing the update coz i says it works but doesnt.
The X820 recovery of Chinese model is not compatible with our Indian X821 model. I tried and get the same black screen with Blue LED problem. You are not alone. We just have to wait for someone to come up with a compatible recovery.
thanks for he reply, but i have alredy used v3.0.0 which i was told was the chinese version and get the same problem

Hi,
i Also had problems with the 3.0.2 TWRP. (not the same problems as you, mine wouldn't flash)
after renaming the XXXX TWRP. image to just TWRP.IMG and the "fastboot flashboot recovery TWRP.IMG command it workd for me.
and didn't used the reboot command after flashin, directly hold power and volume up.
really strange that you're phone needs 2-3 minutes to reboot in this modus, should rebooting within 10 sec.
Also..use the 3.0.2 from teamspain..I tried another one..but didn't workd for me
Thanks for replying - I had tried that but have just give it another try just in case but still same I hold POWER/VOL+ and goes to a black screen with blue led at top of fone - anything else to try?
Right now X821 is just incompatible with all the X820 recoveries out there.

X820 = Chinese Le Max 2 model
X821 = Indian Le Max 2 model
S820 = Snapdragon 820 which is the name of the SOC in both the above models.

Even though it is encrypted, I managed to flash Official 14S CN ROM using update from Storage option. Don't bother booting up as it has plenty app crashes. Straight boot into fastboot mode and flash TeamSpain's TWRP. According to @STEVE_MARS we need to remove registered fingers and PIN to be able to flash TWRP on Indian 15S ROM.
I am not sure of what you doing then. I have deleted mine and reinstalled various Roms on it and have not had these issues, so I am not sure what you are doing, but before installing new ROM, did you wipe or dirty flash? Could possibly be residual files/data causing conflicts on boot.
Thanks sanke1 and jim262
Jim262 - i am not sure what clean and dirty flashes are. Do you mean i should do a clear data before trying to fastboot?
Sanke1 - I shall try now thanks both of you
A clean flash is where you wipe pre existing data, prior to installation of ROM and dirty flash is where you install ROM on top of existing data.
LOL bricked it now i think - after flashing recovery with twrp after running clearup when i reboot left half of the screen flashes ble for a second and the the screen goes blank and the blue LED comes on. Any ideas greatly appreciated.
No, you haven't bricked your phone. You are just installing over old data. That is what causes that. Download Revolution Rom 5.8_15s onto your c:\ drive of your PC. Reboot your device into fastboot mode (make sure you have your USB cable attached and the drivers loaded on your PC for ADB). Next make sure you have the twrp.img downloded and copy it to your ADB folder. Then open up a command prompt session. Change the directory to your ADB directory. Type <adb devices>, this this will start the server and return info from your phone (provided you have installed the drivers). Verify that you can see your device in Windows File Explorer. If you can see the device, type <fastboot boot twrp.img> at the adb prompt. Once in TWRP, wipe your device's internal storage. That means Dalvick, cache, system, data and internal storage. That is for a clean install. Once it is all wiped, go back to your pc and copy the rom from you c: drive to your internal storage. Once the copy is complete you should still be in TWRP on your device. Simply go to <INSTALL> and flash the rom. If you have done everything properly upon completion of the install, reboot into system. All should be good.
I can only get into fastboot now. I can not get into recovery now. I cannot clear dalvik or anything not even into stock eui recovery - is there any way to reinstall stock recovery partition. I have tried installing twrp all versions I have found but they do not work for me - sniff - .
The above directions are for a fast boot install. At the Open adb prompt, type <Fastboot boot twrp.img> this will boot twrp. Wipe your drive, copy the file and flash it from there. No need to access recovery.

You are not using TeamSpain's CM13 recovery. Try to flash that recovery. Even I had the half corrupt screen. Then I realized that I was flashing wrong TWRP.
Hi, I already had my phone rooted and with TWRP installed, but I needed to restore my phone. First I did this trough the system, but I noted that a lot of old files still were there, and I went to TWRP and did a wipe, but selected /system and /cache, now I don't have a OS on my phone.
The phone doesn't turn off, everytime I try to power off, he turn on again, and stay on Lenovo logo. The only thing I can acess is Fastboot mode (via Power down + power), I cant acess TWRP trough the phone, but I found a .bat file, that when I'm in fastboot mode, it flashes twrp on my phone and I can acess it . The other problem is that I always get an error when trying to flash any rom. Things like Error:255 or ".zip file not valid". Tried 2 roms and nothing.
Can someone please help me? I would prefer a stock rom for Brazil, but now I just want any rom, dont even mind if it's not stock.

Error 255 is caused because you are trying to install a 64bit ROM over TWRP (32bits), you need to upgrade TWRP to 64bit, just so you will be able to install a ROM. Remember that you should use Gapps in 64bit [ARM64]
TWRP: https://dl.twrp.me/karate/twrp-3.1.1-1-karate.img
Gapps: http://opengapps.org/ (ARM64)

Try to go back to the 32bits version and erase everything and format the data and return to the 64bit version because here I had this problem it was because of the TWRP that I was using, it was the 32bits version, after that I upgraded to the 64bits version I did not have this problem. Remembering that in the site https://dl.twrp.me/karate/ has two versions of TWRP, the version twrp-3.1.1-0-karate.img is 32bits and the version twrp-3.1.1-1-karate. img is 64bit.

MAN, the ERROR: 7 now could be solved by deleting the lines with ASSERT in "\META-INF\com\google\android\updater-script".
So, thanks for helping me, the problem with 64/32bits worked. I'm really glad that this worked, had stuck for 3 days without OS, now i'm never messing with this stuff again haha.

Use erase the data from wipe option then you will be able to install rom and g-apps.
Every time you will need password, I don't know why but after erasing data you install all files otherwise you need to erase data again and again

I Faced same problem. It's ok that your phone is in weird state for time now. And also possible to recover.
Hopefully you have adb-tool, custom-rom & gapp, twrp.img on your PC.
1) Boot your mobile in fastmode using Power ON with Volume down key for 5 sec (Lenovo log with left hand side sayinh fastboot mode)
2) Connect the mobile to PC using USB & Go to adb tool folder. Open command prompt in this folder & Execute the follow step by step execution
fastboot oem reboot-recovery
3)Wait for mobile to boot in to recovery mode with TWRP
Now need to flash custom-rom followed by gapps installion.
I) You can use pendrive with otg to flash custom-rom followed by gapps
OR
II)You can use phone storage/SD card to flash the custom-rom followed by gapps
OR
III)adb sideload command as fallow
a)In TWRP recovery on mobile, goto Adavanced->ADB Sideload & Swipe to start the sideload
Now on PC execute . Specify custom rom path inside ""
adb sideload "C:\adb\images\MyCustomROM.zip"
Have a patience to complete the operation.
Click back for Adavanced Menu again.
b) Select ADB Sideload & Swipe to start the sideload
Now on PC execute . Specify Gapp path inside ""
adb sideload "C:\adb\images\open_gapps-arm-7.1-pico-20180611.zip"
c)Have a patience to complete the operation.
Once complete go to TWRP Screen.
d)Now go back TWRP main menu & select wipe->format Data.
Go to Reboot->system.
How to install TWRP if no OS there
1) Boot your mobile in fastmode using Power ON with Volume down key for 5 sec (Lenovo log with left hand side sayinh fastboot mode)
2) Connect the mobile to PC using USB & Go to adb tool folder. Open command prompt in this folder & Execute the follow step by step execution
a) To check the device is connected to PC or not
fastboot oem device-info
b) To flash the recovery. Give twrp path inside the ""
fastboot flash recovery "C:\adb\images\twrp.img"
c) To boot into recovery mode
fastboot oem reboot-recovery

In my case, It worked with PIN.
Alright so where i'm at now is basically the aftermath of a failed attempt to install a cyanogen unofficial rom for my phone.
I have a p9 lite VNS-L23 dual sim and well basically, i unlocked the bootloader and i rooted it with twrp and installed superuser using the srk tool. Everything worked fine up to this point until i booted into recovery, cleared cache and data etc to do a clean install and the install failed with an error code 7.
I thought doing a twrp backup before the flash was effective but because it didnt take any length of time, i sort of thought it definitely wasnt a full backup but i didnt pay it any attention and tried to flash it anyway since iv'e never had probs flashing anything with other of the phones ive had before which was my main mistake.
Usb debugging was enabled before trying to flash. I thought it failed because i didnt change my file system but i had no idea how to do that so i avoided it and tried to install a newer version of twrp to see if the rom would work with the updated version instead. When flashing the twrp img file, it asked where i wanted to install and i think i selected bootloader instead of boot cause there were only 2 options.
After than finished and i chose to restart in recovery, recovery never loaded. I was getting erecovery but that couldnt help me either. I was just stuck with no os and a phone stuck on the bootscreen. I tried to unbrick my phone by installing the update file for the international version firmware which i downloaded which was the only one not to fail after trying 2 others before it before realizing the error i was making. I read online that it would restore my phone back to ofw and that was great considering i had no os installed. Now, after the update, i think i reached like 100% then it went blank. I tried to wait a couple seconds to see if it was rebooting but nothing happened. tried all button combinations with and without the charger for varying lengths of time but no luck. I hear a sound when its connected to my laptop tho so idk if that matters. Its a bit frustrating right now and i have no clue how to fix this problem and i havent even had the phone for a long time. If someone. anyone can help me, id more than appreciate it
So far, nothing is responding to anything. No lights, no vibrations and i dont see anything when it conencts to my laptop, my laptop just makes the connected sound. I see Fastboot 2.0 detected but the srk tool cannot detect any emulators or devices :/ im so depressed at this point. More or less just bought the ****.
Sounds bad, try using the dload method and if that doesn't work you are ******.
What is the output of "fastboot devices"

its the dload method that has me in this mess. It didnt reboot from the upgrade and since then i think ive been in fastboot mode. I get a response with the fastboot devices cmd and i manage to flash the boot, recovery and system of the stock firmware but still no luck. Think my only option is to use dc phoenix but i cant buy credits for that

not getting to the upgrade screen with dload, the phone restarts but nothing on screen. I can use fastboot only to flash and unlock bootloader, check specifications but thats it. I flashed the stock image which is mm thru fastboot but no luck. I read that i might wait for my battery to drain since my battery isnt rly made to be removable. Can i still use dload without any on screen response?
Have you also tried flashing vendor, cust ... partitions ?

Fastboot doesnt flash certain img's such as xloader etc, no vendor img included inside the update but i doubt i'd be able to flash it anyway, but i flashed everything i was allowed to incl. cust, boot, recovery, system, cache, . Everything else is giving error: command not allowed. I've hit a brick wall so far til my battery drains or i take it to a repair shop which is i guess, last resort. Can't seem to find help anywhere on the internet, nothing returns anything to the screen.
Looks like a hard brick, take it to an official repair shop. But remember: unlocking the bootlader does NOT void the warranty.
So long story short I recently decided to install stock kernel on my Nexus 6P. I flashed boot.img from oreo firmware using twrp. Accidentally I flashed it into system instead of boot. Now system is corrupted stuck on google logo. But USB debuging is enabled. so I tried to activate OEM using fastboot but it says unknown command. Later on I try to format, wipe all partitions, repair file system using twrp still no success.
Did I break my phone completely?

No, I don't think you completely broke your phone. I would try reflashing using fastboot. Or you could try an OTA update to return it to stock.
No. You just need to reflash stock system.img using stock flashing application for your fone and nothing else. Just do this in edl mode.
To get there, turn fone off completely while unplugged from pc. start your stock flashing application, and load your stock rom, once it verify's, you should be able to select system.img ONLY, dont flash any other img you see for now.
Hit start in this application, then plug fone into usb, watch what happens
Write back ?
Edit The No is to the OP, not to disagree with above post
