Sure, they have to this... 'cause linux kernel source is under GPL(License), any modifications based on it are also obligated to release their source under GPL as well
Great news!!! I hope custom kernels compatible with OxygenOS will be possible at last. :good:

Would be really great if you could help in bombarding Helen from the OnePlus OOS team with comments and request, so they quickly react.

Just left a comment there myself, it would be great if we could get more people involved.

We here in lovely XDA community are welcome LineageOS and strongly eager to learn about the new features[emoji6] [emoji106]
As they said on official site : we have not started doing official builds yet.
One of the benefits of this being an open source project is that anyone can build it, but please be careful flashing builds you’ve downloaded from other sources.
We will have some more information on when weeklies (or possibly nightlies) will be starting soon.
Thanks!

Looking forward to it!
Do we need a new icon/mascot for this??
If Lineage OS were to have a new mascot, it would be a young version of the current one.

I disagree. It should be one that oozes sagacity. One that clearly "owns" and completely supersedes Cyanogen
Silent reader saying Hi!
So excited with LineageOS and had to comment. looking forward to this!!!!
Waiting for new features:fingers-crossed:

I think CM will live just under other name.
As soon they get and tune servers there again will be nightly builds for our devices.
Welcome Lineage
Waiting for your action
Sent from my LG G3 using XDA Labs
What do you guys think? Is it gonna have themes support? Or will it be like pure vanilla (stock Android)? What are your guesses?
BTW, I just found this.
That looks great guys, looking forward to trying the new public builds for this project as soon as available.
Im no dev, but I would like to contribute for the project with a little donation... where should I head for this?

Yeah they could even allow people to submit ideas... wonderful crazy things can emerge from Internet.

I'm looking forward for it to support themes.
I've never tried it before, but I'm experimenting with making a boot animation based on this logo:
http://imgur.com/a/wYgEX
I have a Blender model in the works, and I will rig it as well.
EDIT:
http://imgur.com/a/Ozyap
A sample
I will be rendering it at QHD, but I can render the animation at any needed resolution.
EDIT 2:
https://youtu.be/g91TwtYJwec
Finished animation. Didn't turn out as good as I had hoped, but was fun none the less. If anyone's interested in the source files (lossless/blend), contact me.
Good luck to the LineageOS community!
Welcome to this New (Old?) friend, LineageOS!
hi friends,
do you know, our nexus 4s get android Oreo by nitrogen or lineage or other roms? if yes, I know stable android Oreo version will release mid august, when we get custom rom?
we can't know this
When it comes fyi: asking for an ETA is kinda rude on xda
wait till October or November probably for a decently stable ROM
Excitedly expect first android Oreo Rom for nexus 4 on september 17
and first 32bit snapdragon android oreo port, fully work
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=73494285&postcount=1356
so, now we have very big chance for our nexus 4...
and first nexus 5 android oreo port, booting and wifi working now, one similiar devices too
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=73538437&postcount=6286
for now has boot problem but after all the first nexus 4 oreo

I have compiled android 8 and I managed to get it booting(lots of changes on kernel and device tree). Need a lot of work but mako probably will get a fully fuctional android 8 rom.
good news
thanks for good news,
and maybe co-operation accelerates this work

Nice! At work and don't have my N4 to try it, but interested to hear how it is running, so I can try out when I get home. Is it mostly functional?
Can you share the device and kernel tree?

Just for my own curiosity, how do you know what changes need to be made to the device and kernel tree? Do you use officially supported device/kernel trees as a reference, or is there a guideline posted somewhere?

The kernel is the used one in 7.1.2 and I added the Binder changes... the device tree is fixed by trying to booting and fixing the errors showed in last_kmsg .

Yes, I also flashed this and it boots. As you said, nothing works... But it is not less that it boots
I've been trying since the source of O is released and could not boot it. Your work gives all mako users hope to see a working O build :good: Thanks for the work!
Nitin
I as well got a semi-working O build, but was a bit short on time to work on it. Could we collaborate somewhere? Perhaps a hangouts group?
I've flashed from mako 7.12, kind of like upgrade from 7.12
Sources up.
I used the vendor blobs from TheMuppets.

Are there any roms with Android P for this device?
No Bro there are not (Yet) Android P 9.0 ROMs
But we have faith that @Subhrajyoti Sen would implement it in our Harpia in the future
I don't think I will be working on P for harpia. My support for Oreo on harpia will be close to an end soon since squid is back

Really? But, your work is awesome. You make wonderful ROMs bro Why is necessary Squid to be back?? I'm very sure he will not continue working in Android Oreo and Android Pie
He is not interested in making stuff for Harpia, maybe he never return here. You are the Chosen One, bro

Squid is back already. He has started patching stuff on Nougat. And he's already working on Oreo if I'm not wrong. So expect better Oreo builds than mine. I took it up just because squid was away and I wanted to do a bringup.
And coming to P, it's gonna be a pain. So we'll need someone with as good as knowledge as squid2 to make it possible

Amazing!
I hope the motorola g4play (harpia) can have a life ahead. I hope that more and more developers will be interested in it, as it will increase the number of users, once the official support of motorola has recently ended. The works of the current developers are sensational, especially @@ki, @Subhrajyoti Sen and @squid2, whom I thank very much and I hope it continues.
